I'm still at the table, trying to pace myself. Not only are they incredibly welcoming Agua Frescas y Jamaica Chilaquiles con asada y juevos Delicioso, Sabroso, Abudante My first time here, most certainly not my last!!!

    Best tacos in Los Angeles

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would!Zarape Mexican Food is next level. Everything is homemade and full of authentic flavor -- it's like someone's abuela is back there cooking with love. The soup? Incredible. The shrimp cocktail? Packed with flavor and super fresh. And the handmade tortillas... unreal. You can taste the difference. Even the chips and salsa are freaking amazing -- I could eat just that and leave happy. This spot is a hidden gem and highly, highly recommended. If you're craving real Mexican food, this is the place. I'll definitely be coming back again and again! Don't leave without a aqua Fresca pina also the Tacos the carne asada is the absolute best

Broken Glass hosed into the gas station parking lot - Trash put in the street by Don Zarape employee
    Carmen R.

I live across the street from Don Zarape and have eaten here probably a hundred times - but I started waking up earlier for a new job and while having my coffee in the morning I look out the window and I watch the workers opening the store. I was absolutely shocked to see their employees using a hose to spray the trash and debris from the sidewalk into the gutter. They don't even have the decency to get a broom and dust pan and put the trash in a trash can. They put it in the street and then spray it down the street so you'll notice two piles of filthy trash and debris on each side of their restaurant in the gutter. They do this all the time. I watch them take a bunch of broken glass and put it in the gas station parking lot. They didn't even sweep it up and put it in the trash. A week later I walked over there and the broken glass is still there in the gas station parking lot where Don Zarape employee put it so he wouldn't have to do the right thing and clean up the mess. I'm sorry, but I'll never eat here again AND I am telling everyone I see what horrible community members these people are. We all live here. This is our neighborhood and they are just putting trash in the street. Bad for the community, bad for the children, bad for the world. I will never eat here again. I will include photos of the trash from last week.

The ambiance and service were excellent and the food was a bit above mid. I ordered the Mexican chicken enchiladas plate which came with beans and rice and a pepino agua Fresca. Total after tax and the $1 card charge fee was $31.37, not including tip. The pepino was refreshing and light. The Fresca came with 1 free refill, anything after would be an additional charge. The enchiladas had a delicious red pepper-y sauce to them. While some bites had tender soft chicken, other bites were dry and not as juicy. Definitely the star of the plate was the rice. It was fluffy and had great texture all while being the furthest from anything dry. The beans, although having great texture and firmness, weren't seasoned all that well. I found myself dousing it in Tapatio.

We love this place, it's close to home and is always delicious weather it's to dine and eat or even take away.

The dinner they served me was full of tasty and fresh ingredients! The staff was very kind and were excited to come back and try their margaritas with friends. I'm very impressed with this space and the food.

I was looking for street tacos on my way to an appointment while I was in Valley Village area and I came across this place as they were on the way to the appointment. Now I have been to several taco places all over the valley, (please check my yelp for reference), the East Coast Mexico, etc. and hands-down LA has the best Mexican food I will start with that. I ordered two Asada tacos and one pastor taco -- I was not happy with the yellow corn tortillas as they tasted stale on one of my tacos, it was about 1030 when I went so this could be a true thing, but in my opinion, the Asada meat tasted like it was left over from yesterday and reheat it today, which I am not a person to eat leftovers that's just my personal preference I make food at home I eat what I cook -- I order food out I eat what I buy so it was quite disappointing and I get it everyone is going through hard times, foods expensive for the restaurant industry. I can see why they would not either discard of the meat or take it home with them what their dynamic would be but to reuse it and you think your food is going to be fresh was very disappointing. I'm not gonna say I spent a lot of money on my tacos because I didn't spend a lot of money I think the tacos were three dollars each but even still give quality food for people who are ordering from a restaurant. I will give it to them. The Pastor taco was amazing. I should've just got three of those but I don't really eat much pork and the salsa and chips were good. The restaurant was a cute restaurant although I don't understand why having a full grown pitbull dog I guess it is trained sitting in the restaurant with one of your family members or friends hanging out is appropriate, but hey, that's just me I could understand if they had a back patio but they don't. The staff was very kind and friendly. But I must agree with one of the other yelp reviews that was recent the tortillas were not good at all and if you're going to buy store-bought tortillas, there's some great places that you can get them from to make authentic street tacos because that was not an authentic street taco or good quality Asada.

Super authentic food, I got the carne asada plate and it was very delicious, atmosphere is welcoming and very clean, you must try this place, I would highly recommend it

    Chicken Enchilada Rancheras

Not all Don Zarape locations are created alike. I was not too impressed with the #2 location on Vineland. However, this location #1, Don Zapata is one of the best of the chains yet. The storefront looks small and unassuming but inside is a nice size dining room which is clean and well adorned. Within mere seconds of sitting down, I was greeted with chips & salsa, and a drink request. Now that's good service! I'm happy to say that this quality of service and attention to my needs remained throughout my visit. With regard to the food, the Carne Asada soft tacos are some of the best I've had. The sirloin meat is nicely grilled and seasoned and there was no gristle. The corn tortilla is clearly homemade and had a very nice flavor. The Chicken Enchilada Rancheras consisted of three medium size enchiladas, rice, beans and a small salad garnish. The food here is very tasty and reasonably priced. From top to bottom, I had a great experience. The food, service and the comfort of the location we're all very good. There is parking in the back. I will definitely be visiting Don Zapata #1 again. I am a fan!

Friendly and pretty fast service. Everything was prepared fresh after we ordered, including the guacamole. The sizes were generous and the home made tortillas were amazing. No complaints would definitely go back.

I'll go one by one as I really didn't skimp on any of it..... First off, the brisket was so tender I couldn't even get it on to my plate originally. I had to keep stabbing at it with a fork and it just kept falling into pieces it was magical. The flavor was amazing with the perfect combination of that smokey and fire grilled taste. Didn't even need to use any sauce, but don't sleep on their BBQ sauce it had the perfect flavor of not too acidic and not too sugary. It's hard to stop eating it. I had to follow it up with the brisket quesadillas because.... well because they were staring at me and I had to show them who was boss.... Again, insane flavor combo and pleasantly addicting. Next move I had to throw down on a couple of hot wings to make sure my taste buds were still jumping and ready for the upcoming situation. Just for reference purposes, nice little kick with a bit of smokey flavor. Could've eaten 20 in one sitting but was continuing on my path of BBQ destruction. We now veered over to the baby back ribs .... I think I ate 10 before I realized what was going on. Yet again, the flavor was perfect and the meat was cooked to perfection. It didn't need any sauce, but I was a big fan of loading up on the BBQ sauce for these bad boys..... Next I shifted my fat eyed focus over to the tri-tip. It had that perfect pink center looking like a medium rare meaty super model. I went a different route here and dipped it into this horseradish sauce concoction that I never seen or heard of in my life. I don't know what was in that sauce, but it was phenomenal. I could have literally eaten this stuff by itself, but everyone was looking so I didn't want to make it weird. The tri-tip itself didn't even need any sauce and was super juicy, but that sauce just elevated the taste to another level. Now we decided to go a different location on the farm pay tribute to some smoked chicken. I had to dabble with both the BBQ sauce and the horseradish sauce as my dipping/smothering choices for this tasty bird. Couldn't even tell you how great it was without the sauce, since my mind was already fading trying to fight off my meat sweat coma. Lastly for our protein portion of the evening, I had to top it off with some of that pulled pork. Now this was extremely flavorful and some of the best I've had in quite some time. I did however enjoy lathering it up with that BBQ sauce like some of his fellow plate mates I already devoured. I will give a shout out to the sides, even though I only had a brief taste of each as I was going hard on the proteins. High fives to the potato salad, coleslaw, Mac and cheese, street corn, corn bread, tator tots and collard greens. I may have possibly missed one or 2, but after gorging on disgusting amounts of food, you tend to forget things. Had to make sure to sneak some of those greens in there so my heart didn't give out.... I however did not indulge in the chips and salsa that were there since I didn't want to come off as a pig..... So instead (as I forgot to mention previously), I took the queso and poured it over some pulled pork because that's what needed to happen at that moment.... Boom! For the grand finale, we had this banana pudding dessert that literally put me over the top. If I could openly cuss on this platform, I genuinely would.... It was absolutely orgasmic. That's right, you read that correctly. I don't know what they put in that thing, but to call it amazing would be an understatement. Pretty sure I blacked out at some point while finishing my bowl of dessert. As you can read, I was not a fan of any of the food in any way shape or form.(Sarcasm ...) I look forward to going back, but I will need to wait until I awake from this painful food coma I've been fighting off since the ending of the World Cup match watching USA beat the breaks off of Bosnia with one man down. Much love on the food and I happily dedicate this extra fat fold on my stomach and the 8lb weight gain to AJ's BBQ.

If you grew up in LA like I did, this was definitely THE spot...and honestly, it still is. The interior is packed with old school charm: dim lighting, warm red and yellow accents, cozy booths, and a dining room that's instantly recognizable. But don't sleep on the outdoor patio either. It's absolutely beautiful, complete with its own bar and plenty of seating for those perfect evenings out. Casa Vega is famous for its margaritas and classic Mexican American comfort food. It's not outright authentic, but it's nostalgic and hasn't changed for decades. During my last visit, I kept it simple with a cheese enchilada, a perfectly medium rare cooked steak taco, and spicy beans and rice. While each item was simple, it was done perfectly. Definitely get the combination so you can try a little bit of everything. Like I said earlier, For me Casa Vega is all about nostalgia. The familiar flavors, the atmosphere, and those feel good vibes that keep people coming back year after year. It's a staple because we all grew up with it so if you're someone here dining for the first time, keep that in mind. Last pro tip: there is $10 valet parking which honestly saves you from trying to find parking on the main boulevard so I would say just go with it.

The chips and tableside guacamole were on point, and the chiquita salad is still one of the best things on the menu. the service was a completely different story. The host seated us, and it turned out he was also our waiter. We waited so long that I finally got up and ordered my own drinks at the bar. I even told the bartender, I m at that table if you see my waiter, send him over. When the host finally came by, he seemed annoyed that I ordered drinks at the bar. No introduction, just, k , you ordered drinks. What do you want to eat. It came across as rude and felt like they were seriously understaffed. Somewhere between the salsa and the second margarita, I started wondering if I had accidentally wandered into the Casa Vega from an alternate universe bizarro world were the mexicans were gone just joking don't cancel me. The old school waiters who had been there for years are gone, and the whole experience feels different. To put it in perspective, they were playing '90s rock music instead of the classic Casa Vega music I still go back because the drinks and the Chiquita salad are absolutely worth it. Just go in knowing the service is not what it used to be, especially considering the extra fees casa charges. My girl and I had a fun time laughing about how this place changed, it was actually a fun night cause the service kept getting worse. They brought out main dish before the salad .

Food overall tasted less than mediocre. Horchata was $4.50, and add Guac. $2.50. Guac tasted bland and was missing the main ingredients in it. Like garlic, lemon juice, and other spices.. Chips was small, but decent. Had to ask for that too.Didn't come with the meal. Ambiance was dull, and boring. There were probably 4 people in there including myself. They don't do delivery nor do catering. However, you can pick up to go orders. I am being generous with the last star.
