    3 Beef Taquitos combo plate
    Gregory G.

Tony's has been a neighborhood staple for the past 30 years! That says a lot about a restaurant. This place is family owned and they treat you like family when you're there. Once we walked in, we were greeted by Irma who seated us and took our order. We were impressed as soon as she brought the chips and salsa. All their food is made in house. From the salsa to the guacamole, all their sauces and original dishes. We didn't have a lot of time, so I tried their taquito plate and it was quite delightful. The taquitos were crunchy and the beef inside was nicely shredded. The steam from the beef was a sign that these came fresh out of the fryer. The rice and beans were cooked to perfection and their guac was made fresh. It was smooth and creamy. You can taste the chunks of avocado knowing it was made by hand. They have specials everyday of the week. We have to come back on a Wednesday as the special of the day is Carnitas! Irma gave us a sample as it wasn't quite ready when we placed our orders. But it was amazing. The meat was soft and tender. It was full of flavor and it melted in your mouth. I will have to find time on a Wednesday to have lunch at this place. Like i said.

Here is their fountain drink station.

I would like to update my review for this wonderful restaurant in the heart of Sherman Oaks from 5 star to another 5 star. I have been there 8/26/2016 and since then, went there at least 14 more times. There is so much I can say about this restaurant, but I am going to say whatever pops into my mind at this moment in time. This is NOT your typical Mexican restaurant. What I mean is that everything that they serve from their extensive menu is a delight. Food is soooooooo delicious and fresh. Not too salty nor is it greasy. They have the BEST Horchata at this eatery.(And I have tried Horchata in so many places) including lunch trucks. Perfect consistency of cinnamon and sweetness. This is a staple, and has been around for 30 plus years. Great customer service by Tommy, Irma and the gentleman that I can't remember his name. Sorry. It is a cute, cozy, clean and quaint restaurant with so much history. Which I love. Ancient pictures on the walls and overall GREAT IN EVERY WAY!! I had so many different dishes at this place that I can't even name which is my favorite. They ALL ARE!:-) My go to is their Santa Fe Burrito which comes with steak, or chicken, beans, guacamole, rice, pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream, onions, cabbage, cilantro & their secret sauce. ( whatever that sauce is, only they know) and it's delicious!!! I also love their Seafood Plate that comes with scallops, shrimp, fish, rice, steamed vegetables, lettuce & guacamole. You don't find this plate in many other Mexican restaurants. Here at Tony's they have that and everything else. Nice portions and affordable prices. The restaurant is super busy with to go orders, dining in and 3rd party orders. The phone rings off the hook and somehow their employees make it happen. Take my advice and go give them a try, you will not be disappointed! Consistency is the key and and their secret sauce/dessert that is complimentary if you dine in. SO GOOD! This restaurant is above and beyond consistent in every way! Love it!!!! Thank you staff, management. I will be back soon. If I lived down the block, I probably would be there at least 3 to 4 times a week. Ample parking shared with few other businesses! Will post few pictures when I get a chance.

I have been a loyal customer of Tony's for over 14 years. In fact, when I first moved into the area, Tony's was the very first meal I had in my new home. Over the years, I've ordered countless times for pickup and delivery and always believed I was supporting a local business that valued its customers. Unfortunately, after my most recent experience, I will never order from Tony's again. Today, I decided to place an online order directly through their website--a first for me, since I usually use Uber Eats or DoorDash. I assumed ordering directly would help support the restaurant. Instead, it turned into the most appalling customer service interaction I've ever had. Thirty minutes after placing my order, I received a call from a woman at the restaurant who introduced herself as being "in charge." Rather than apologizing for the inconvenience, she curtly informed me that they couldn't fulfill my order because they "didn't have a driver." I was about to suggest just canceling the order when she launched into an unnecessarily rude lecture about how my order "didn't meet their $20 minimum." When I pointed out that my total was nearly $24, she snapped back that it had to be $20 in food and insisted that "all their customers know that." I referenced the website, which clearly states a $15 minimum--not $20--and she continued to argue with me, dismissing me as if I didn't know how to read. At that point, I asked her to cancel my order and refund me. Shockingly, she told me that wasn't possible, because they "don't have the money" and I would need to call the delivery company myself. She made it clear that this was "not her problem." The tone was condescending, dismissive, and frankly insulting. After more than a decade of loyalty, this is how Tony's treats its customers--like an inconvenience. It's disheartening, because I go out of my way to support small, local businesses. But I won't support one that treats people this way. I'll be taking my business to places like La Fogata, where they actually value customers and know how to provide basic respect and service. The woman who handled my call should be absolutely ashamed of how she represents this business. Tony's lost a long-time, loyal customer today--and I will make sure others know to think twice before supporting them.

This is what they consider extra salsa on an order w 4 entrees. 3rd time in a row. I'm done.

This place used to be great, but unfortunately it's come to this, writing a bad yelp review. The food has quality has gone way down and the prices have gone way up. Today's order included burnt steak tostada and a chrome burritos that was 95% dried out rice. But that's not why I'm writing the review, I'm writing this because they are stingy with their salsa. I'm a big salsa fan and when I ask for extra salsa, I mean extra salsa. Now I've been burnt by them before, so I made it very clear that I wanted EXTRA salsa. They gave 2 red and 2 little tiny salsa, for an order w 4 entrees. Thats 1 salsa, for each order. Over $60 worth of food.

I'll go one by one as I really didn't skimp on any of it..... First off, the brisket was so tender I couldn't even get it on to my plate originally. I had to keep stabbing at it with a fork and it just kept falling into pieces it was magical. The flavor was amazing with the perfect combination of that smokey and fire grilled taste. Didn't even need to use any sauce, but don't sleep on their BBQ sauce it had the perfect flavor of not too acidic and not too sugary. It's hard to stop eating it. I had to follow it up with the brisket quesadillas because.... well because they were staring at me and I had to show them who was boss.... Again, insane flavor combo and pleasantly addicting. Next move I had to throw down on a couple of hot wings to make sure my taste buds were still jumping and ready for the upcoming situation. Just for reference purposes, nice little kick with a bit of smokey flavor. Could've eaten 20 in one sitting but was continuing on my path of BBQ destruction. We now veered over to the baby back ribs .... I think I ate 10 before I realized what was going on. Yet again, the flavor was perfect and the meat was cooked to perfection. It didn't need any sauce, but I was a big fan of loading up on the BBQ sauce for these bad boys..... Next I shifted my fat eyed focus over to the tri-tip. It had that perfect pink center looking like a medium rare meaty super model. I went a different route here and dipped it into this horseradish sauce concoction that I never seen or heard of in my life. I don't know what was in that sauce, but it was phenomenal. I could have literally eaten this stuff by itself, but everyone was looking so I didn't want to make it weird. The tri-tip itself didn't even need any sauce and was super juicy, but that sauce just elevated the taste to another level. Now we decided to go a different location on the farm pay tribute to some smoked chicken. I had to dabble with both the BBQ sauce and the horseradish sauce as my dipping/smothering choices for this tasty bird. Couldn't even tell you how great it was without the sauce, since my mind was already fading trying to fight off my meat sweat coma. Lastly for our protein portion of the evening, I had to top it off with some of that pulled pork. Now this was extremely flavorful and some of the best I've had in quite some time. I did however enjoy lathering it up with that BBQ sauce like some of his fellow plate mates I already devoured. I will give a shout out to the sides, even though I only had a brief taste of each as I was going hard on the proteins. High fives to the potato salad, coleslaw, Mac and cheese, street corn, corn bread, tator tots and collard greens. I may have possibly missed one or 2, but after gorging on disgusting amounts of food, you tend to forget things. Had to make sure to sneak some of those greens in there so my heart didn't give out.... I however did not indulge in the chips and salsa that were there since I didn't want to come off as a pig..... So instead (as I forgot to mention previously), I took the queso and poured it over some pulled pork because that's what needed to happen at that moment.... Boom! For the grand finale, we had this banana pudding dessert that literally put me over the top. If I could openly cuss on this platform, I genuinely would.... It was absolutely orgasmic. That's right, you read that correctly. I don't know what they put in that thing, but to call it amazing would be an understatement. Pretty sure I blacked out at some point while finishing my bowl of dessert. As you can read, I was not a fan of any of the food in any way shape or form.(Sarcasm ...) I look forward to going back, but I will need to wait until I awake from this painful food coma I've been fighting off since the ending of the World Cup match watching USA beat the breaks off of Bosnia with one man down. Much love on the food and I happily dedicate this extra fat fold on my stomach and the 8lb weight gain to AJ's BBQ.

I got a brisket and half rack of ribs, with corn bread, greens, and beans. My friend got the elote cup and that was equally as amazing! Everything was excellent! If you grew up in LA like I did, this was definitely THE spot...and honestly, it still is. The interior is packed with old school charm: dim lighting, warm red and yellow accents, cozy booths, and a dining room that's instantly recognizable. But don't sleep on the outdoor patio either. It's absolutely beautiful, complete with its own bar and plenty of seating for those perfect evenings out. Casa Vega is famous for its margaritas and classic Mexican American comfort food. It's not outright authentic, but it's nostalgic and hasn't changed for decades. During my last visit, I kept it simple with a cheese enchilada, a perfectly medium rare cooked steak taco, and spicy beans and rice. While each item was simple, it was done perfectly. Definitely get the combination so you can try a little bit of everything. Like I said earlier, For me Casa Vega is all about nostalgia. The familiar flavors, the atmosphere, and those feel good vibes that keep people coming back year after year. It's a staple because we all grew up with it so if you're someone here dining for the first time, keep that in mind. I've tried to give it a fair shake but I feel like this place caters to the older, mostly affluent crowd who can't handle spice or seasonings of any kind. Growing up in the valley there is a plethora of delicious authentic Mexican food, so it's blatantly obvious when something in the category is just not up to par. I ordered the Chile Verde burrito and it left a lot to be desired, it's almost like they refuse to use salt of any kind? Just completely bland, flavorless. I also asked if they could make it spicy but the waiter let me know they don't have anything in the kitchen that would be spicy besides some jalapeños, which I agreed to. Still, so very very bland and flavorless. Not to be facetious, but you could honestly go to Taco Bell and get better "Mexican" food.... That's how awful it is here. Two stars because the waiter was friendly and the service was decent. Go to Salsa and Beer for a proper Mexican meal, bye.
