My go to for donair dude. I like this place best and the one on davie next. There was a trainee making our donair and honestly we weren't feeling 100 on the end product. We made it known to our usual host and she happily made us a new one and even suggested to let us keep the first donair to give away to whoever we come across around that area (instead of tossing it in the bin). She apologized again for the wait and inconvenience and of course the donair she made was 11/10.

Chicken and Beef combination grilled pita donair. Garlic and hummus spread to start it off. This thing is as big as my face.

Got into town late and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. At 11pm, there aren't many options around Century Plaza Hotel, so I decided to actually check to see if Donair Dude is just as good while sober as it is when inebriated. Yeah, it's legit. When I got there, the street was pretty dead. It was a Monday night so makes sense. But, I'm never a fan of eating fast food when it's slow because it means the food has been sitting there awhile. Once it was all wrapped up and pressed...it didn't really matter. It was delish - such a great balance of textures and flavors. I'm a fan of gyros and shwarma wraps - those ain't got nothing on donairs. Actually, it did. It's the reason for 4 stars rather than 5. Go there at a decent hour and you'll likely get fresher food that is OMG good. How to do it right: Grilled Pita Wrap. (c'mon - tortillas are for Mexican food!) + Garlic and Hummus Spread + Chicken + Beef (BF got lamb, too, when we came here for the first time) + Onions + Tabouleh (trust me on this one) + Red/Purple Radish or whatever those Lebanese/middle eastern garnishes are called + Tzatziki Sauce + Feta Cheese (because Cheddar is for hamburgers!) The sandwich is massive. Props to anyone who can eat the whole thing in one sitting. When all is said and done, this is a place to check out while visiting Vancouver. And, it won't break the bank which means you can eat at more places...Eat here drunk or sober. Who cares when it happens...it will be worth the $10.

This place was amazing! We stumbled in after spending an hour inside of Cabana. We hadn't really had a dinner that night. They are open late, which is really nice. I probably couldn't saved a little money if I had gone with their 2 donairs 2 sodas for $18.99, but we each got our own orders. I ordered: - chicken with everything on it The donairs are HUGE! They stuff it, and then they grill it in a panini machine. The sauces and meat were super tasty. I couldn't finish mine, and Alex finished the rest. Our other friend only ate 1/2 of his and took the rest home. Great place for drunk munchies.

This was my favorite Donair spot for both my trips to Vancouver in the last year. I got a pita wrap with beef and chicken. What's nice about this place is there are numerous options of spreads, sauces, veggies, and cheese to add. It all gets wrapped in a big pita that looks like a mini pillow when it's all stuffed. The fries were also made to order and came out nice and crispy.

Definitely try to go at opening or when it is not busy, as the dine-in experience is memorable - they place your order in a long wooden board to make it a beautiful spread. We got the Manoush'eh Special which has ground beef, pomegranate, etc and Sham Style which is shaped like a boat. We also tried the yogurt drink which pairs well with the dishes. The only con is that this place does not have free water, but it is no problem to have our own water bottles supplementing the meal. We also got the lentil soup which is pretty good. Definitely sufficient to share one to try, but the Manoush'eh outshines the rest of the items. I loved the quality and texture of the Manoush'eh and just the breads in general. It is a lot of food for 2 people so if you want a snack, you can definitely just share 1. Some people go here for the wraps too. Overall, an affordable restaurant with good food. We got the most expensive items and it was less than 50 CAD all-in, but a lot of the items are around the 10 CAD mark.

From the moment we sat down, the experience was something special. They start you off with warm, grilled bread alongside a gorgeous pool of fresh olive oil, and here's the touch that sets the tone for the whole evening: the oregano garnishing that oil is cut tableside from a live plant. It's a small detail, but it tells you everything about how much this kitchen cares. We went all in on the menu and have zero regrets. The spread platter was outstanding, multiple dips, beautifully presented with soft bread, each one distinct and well-crafted. The warm marinated olives were rich and aromatic, the kind of thing you keep reaching back into. The calamari was perfectly fried, light, crispy, served with a creamy tzatziki dipping sauce. For mains, the whole lobster with fries was a showstopper, generous, fresh, and served with clarified butter and a tangy sauce. The halibut was elegant and delicate, plated with roasted vegetables and large capers in a way that felt genuinely refined. The cocktails and drink program held up beautifully throughout the meal too. This is the kind of restaurant that makes a night feel like an occasion. The food is thoughtful, the ingredients are clearly quality, and the atmosphere delivers. And Yuri, our waiter, was absolutely fantastic. If you're on the fence because of that rating -- ignore it. On a real whim moment - a friend I was going into town with was carrying on past this joint & said - hey you have to try this Doner - it's good. Oh why not - I said. I popped in & walked around checking out the setup & noticed the freshness & cleanliness right away. I like the decor as well - neat high tables & wood finishing. DS is still a baby - having just opened up 3 months ago. I met the boss & we chatted up a storm. He's a cool guy who's been in Vancouver for over 10 years - originally from Turkey! Ok - you had me at Turkey!!! He recommended the chicken Doner & wow oh wow did this taste of heaven go down or what. The tender halal chicken & Tabouli salad & ingredients as well as added sauces including hot sauce - Mama Mia!!! Heads up for anyone popping in over the next few weeks - the boss has plans for Kebabs & is strategizing how to work in a new grill etc etc. He's real excited about this venture & said I have to come back at the end of February when he hopes to have completed setting up. Sounds awesome - I will definitely be going back! Oh make sure that when you go to DS - show boss the picture of my Doner & tell him to grill it exactly like in the pic!!! You won't be disappointed!

The chicken doner was one of the best I had so far. It was flavorful on its own, with a slight crisp on the edges of the meat. It was not dry and was just right. I got to try several of the sauces and my favorite would be the garlic tzatziki and the cilantro. I didn't really like the doner sauce which was essentially ketchup, mayo and mustard. It was too rich for me. It is a self serve place, where you place the order and then wait to pick up the food. Feta cheese was extra cost which was not stated up front when the staff asked if I want it. That is a bit sneaky I feel.

How we got here: my lunch appointment went long and I was hungry, needed to grab something quick before the next meeting. I had seen a sign somewhere in the area for a lovely Greek gyro previously. I wasn't able to find the sign/restaurant I had seen previously. We walked past this place and while I was trying to figure out whether or not they offered a Greek gyro, one of the workers there essentially pulled us in off the street and put a menu in front of us. They have so many images-everywhere it was a bit of a challenge to figure it out quickly. I saw the shaved lamb on the right of the "cooking area" so I figured I would get what I was asking for. In the restaurant, that was basically empty at lunch, I figured out why he grabbed us, they are probably desperate for business. They also charged us like we were the only paying customers. Most places offer a lunch combo meal, gyro, drink and fries for a single low price but our order of two combos was nearly $60!!!! I have receipt!!! (See attached). What we got was definitely not shaved lamb. The meat was chunky, beef stew LIKE meat and as I am unfortunately eating this as I write this review I can't tell you it tastes AWFUL!! They probably get this s#it cheap!!! On it, was some kind of sauce, also not tzatziki. As they are Persian and not Greek I suspect they don't even know what tzatziki sauce is! You can tell from the pictures the sauce isn't right, the vegetables don't look fresh, the bread is stale The $7 order of fries is disgusting as well. I wanted to treat myself to ordering lunch out. I will NEVER patronize this place again, I dare call it a restaurant, it should be permanently closed. I think I have to vomit now to save myself! Please consider this WARNING a gift. My time is EXTREMELY VALUABLE and I don't have time for this kind of food crime or BS. I call FRAUD!!! (I was going to post a photo of what a gyro should look like so you could easily compare but decided against it because I didn't want there to be any confusion about what you will actually get when you dare to eat here!)
