I stopped by here for a chicken donair and was pleasantly surprised that it came with free french fries! The donair is large and loaded with toppings. The pita bread was literally stuffed with toppings. This place reminds me of Subway in that you pick your meat, and then you pick the vegetables to stuff in the donair. Lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, sauce etc. This is probably one of the healthier fast food options around Granville when you are going to or leaving a club. The donair stop actually offers a lot of value in that it also gives you a free side of fries with their donair. Both are good. Ambiance wise, it passes. For some reason the decor reminds me of a 50's diner. Maybe it's the paint scheme or the fact that this location may have been a diner in the 50's. (I remember seeing vintage photos of Vancouver in this location and I recall seeing the sign of a sandwhich shop in this exact corner on Granville.) It's worth checking out and with the fries included, I would almost stick my neck out to say that this is probably one of the best bangs for your buck for food downtown.

Alright, I am a sucker for spicy and well seasoned food. This is a tiny grab and go (or sit down if you want) kind of place. I had the falafel donair and my mother the lamb donair, with all the fixings and sauces we wanted. They were both extremely good, fresh and the service was friendly. Don't expect a fancy ambience and in my opinion one donair is good for two people (they are huge!). So split one, if you are still hungry order another one, takes less than a minute to get them done. Recommend with all my flavor taste buds

Stopped in for a quick bite before seeing Dane Cook. Pricing is what you would expect, but good portion sizes for what you pay! Had the chicken donair, and was pleasantly surprised. Wasn't thrilled having to pay an extra dollar for feta though.

Truly OK place. They provide free order of fries with every order of the meal. I did not feel the flavour-fullness in my Chicken Donair. Can of Coke $1.75

This is on a busy corner. Take away or dine in. Mostly to eat on the run. Tasty.

Tasty euro meets burrito bowl wraps. Very limited but flexible menu. Beef/lamb or chicken. Falafels also.

One of my top 3 fav donair shops in the city. I've ordered delivery twice now the food is just so amazing and packed properly so the salad and sauces don't spill over. I got the chicken plate and I will be getting this again. Comes with pita and dip

We simply had to give it a try. And continue coming back. Type of cuisine: Turkish fare - from simit and borek, to cardamom or pistachio infused Turkish coffee, apricot and apple teas, baklava and lokum. We have always loved the foods, mostly imported directly from Turkey. Ambiance: Sweet and cozy, the space is full of beautiful Turkish art/craft - from lighting to seating, from merchandise to the tasty treats served, we love our bay window benches and small, tiled tables that barely hold everything we order. The brother-owners are always wreathed in smiles and humble, grateful service. The music is soft, but always a surprise - sometimes Turkish, sometimes rock, sometimes jazzy, always fun and unobtrusive. We also love the huge barrel "tables" used as outdoor seating under a covered "patio". What I ordered: I was sad to hear that they no longer make/serve their refreshing and lovely apricot tea, so I chose a sweet cardamom coffee. My sister each chose a turkish coffee and pistachio coffee. A hot chocolate for my husband and two apple teas for the children. We ordered one of each selection of baklava available - pistachio, walnut, chocolate pistachio, halva and another walnut treat. Not to mention peach and blackberry lokum. We also ordered a potato & cheese sandwich; they ran out of the bread so substituted potato borek topped with cheese for our savory snack. What I loved: Always the service; quiet, humble, spot on. The coffee is truly magnificent and fully takes you back to Turkey. The baklava is sweet and soaked in honey, just like the cafes in Istanbul, and the beautiful lighting mesmerizes each of us every time. Why I loved it: It's always a little escape entering the doors of Ashuri, and like a mini vacation in a home away from home. Cost: Average

I shared the Qabuli Pulao (27.99) and we even had some leftover since it was very rich and hearty! The rice was buttery and despite not being a big raisin fan, the sweetness of the raisins complemented the dish very well. The lamb shank was tender and easily fell off the bone as pictured, and was in some sort of slightly heated tomato sauce. I'd want to try the Uzbeki Pulao next time. As for the pot of Turkish tea (3.99), it came in a nice set with sugar cubes, definitely a bit on the strong bitter side but very pretty and great for sharing. Same with the pistachio halwa (6.99), I found it to be quite bitter and am not sure if that's the norm or not.. didn't love it. But overall, I liked the ambiance and the service was good, the server answered all my questions! Bonus points for the jazz playlist they had playing during my visit.
