OMG.... Best bang for my buck. It was like a Mediterranean Calzones! Such a huge Mediterranean pocket filled to the brim with deliciousness. There's not a lot of space for you to sit in. I have to say that we did receive the worst service here in Canada and it wasn't even so bad. The cashier was pretty rude and did not care for us. She really didn't want to deal with us. Garlic Spread wasn't as strong as I would like. Red pepper paste was not spicy at all. There is so many toppings to stuff in the pita. They actually use 2 pitas and grill the whole pita calzones! The gyro is very delicious. They actually charge you for cheese which is super weird. read more

This place used to be better. They have cut the portions so that you don't even get a full box(special) of food anymore. Another example of expanding too fast at the expense of quality. read more

Definitely the best Donair (Doner) I've had in Vancouver so far. For $6, the amount they stuff into the double-wrapped pita is astounding. Though some of the add-ons are a bit on the strange side (pineapple, for example), the presence of red cabbage makes up for it. It's more of a Doner Kebab/Burrito hybrid, with the way it's stuffed, but you really can't go wrong. This is going to be my regular kebab shop. read more

The Donair is big and cheap. However the meat is pretty underwhelmingly seasoned. The staff is in constant rotation, and you'll likely receive a different portion depending on who serves you. Load it up with veggies. Ask for all the spreads. Can even have half and half meats if you so choose. Open super late, a great post-bar grab. Plus you'll likely have leftovers in the morning, which you won't remember acquiring in the first place. Not amazing, but definitely great value. read more

This place used to be good, but the portion sizes are smaller now and the food is bland. The choban salad is also tasteless... I don't think I'll be going back there. read more

Delicious, the full with your choice of protein and lots of healthy vegetables. Halifax style, with feta cheese added is the best. Healthy fast food and reasonably priced. One of my favourite "cheap seats" places downtown for years. read more

This is one of my favourite shawarma places downtown Vancouver. Their chicken shawarma, while not a traditional shawarma, is really quite tasty. Their veggies are fresh and the chicken is cooked well -- not burnt or chewy, but very good. Their hummus is quite tasty as well... creamy and light with just the right amount of tahini. Donair dude is also one of the few places that has lamb shawarma's (a favourite of mine) so it is definitely a go to if you like lamb. Not only that, but their portions sizes are amazing for the value. A massive shawarma that I can barely finish for about $10. I also enjoyed their dolmades with tahini sauce which are also very good. A little on the salty side but great for a quick and cheap ($3.99) meal. Service is also incredibly kind and helpful. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Dropped in the other day to try the veg Samosa They heat it in the press, and serve it with a sauce of your choice It was good, pretty tasty read more

I didn't know I could eat a donair that I wouldn't like. Horribly salty and flavour was not good other than that either. I gave it one star on that first day. Went again the other day. I would give it 3 stars now. The donair here is big but I still prefer the flavour at other places. read more

Three stars for big and cheap. Great value for the price. I can barely finish! Quality? Nope. Nothing special. On the low bar actually. Restaurants should be rated based on quality, not value. Big problem with yelp read more

Falafel pita and hummus is one of my favorite staple foods, and in general, in North America it's terrible. Based on the reviews I'd had hopes for something authentic from Donair Dude. Nope. Hummus tasted like it has blended up pickles in it, falafel is extremely dry and floury, pita is from Costco, the rice is bland and dry, all for over $10. The only reason it gets a second star is because the staff was so friendly. read more

Donair Dude - So dry. So floury. Just because it's desert food does not mean it should be as dry as the desert. - Middle Eastern Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

Good quality food, good price, service is only so so. Change was given back on the counter even though my hand was out. When I asked for more lettuce I was scoffed at, when I said there too many onions I was told it actually isn't that much. When I asked for a fork it was delivered on the dirty counter where the change was given back. Overall was good, I'd prefer to return when that server isn't working. read more

Just had one of these today. So made me decide to review. Come here quite often though seeing as I live in the area. This is my favorite donair place hands down. Pita Pitt is also very good, but varries location to location. This place beats it though. Staff are very friendly, ingredients fresh, and donairs are packed to the brim. Usually stick with the chicken, but lamb is also very good. Sauces are also delightful especially the hummus and paprika paste. Have also tried the plates one time, but they are not comparable to the donairs. Clearly which is why the name is Donair Dude! Honestly though, definitely would recommend this place if your looking for a good old huge donair to satisfy your hunger. If you love donairs and have not tried this place. Go now your won't regret. read more

Have tried their chicken donairs twice and pretty unimpressed - at nearly $10 a donair yes they are big, but only about 1.5x the size (and you can find donairs for $5-6 in this city). Bland meat, sauces aren't particularly flavourful, decent assortment of veggies but even the vegetables are a bit bland. Oh, and when you ask a customer if they can't cheese, you should tell them it's costs $1 extra when you ask. Also, the worst baclava I've ever had! Very pasty, dry because they skimped and didn't pour syrup on them, and not much walnut flavor. Save your $ and go elsewhere! read more

I spent the weekend in beautiful Vancouver and was lucky enough to have a place to stay on a quiet street just a few blocks away from Davie Street and all of its wonderful food options. On my final night before heading back down to the states, I decided to give Donair Dude a shot, and man oh man am I glad I did. I'll admit that I laughed a bit when I found out that the folks in Canada had their own take on döner, one of my favorite foods. I really didn't expect much of it, maybe something not half-bad at best. Well, this was some good effin döner, er, "donair." I got the beef and lamb with garlic sauce and sweet sauce and a bunch of veggies and feta. In addition to being delicious, it was HUGE. I'm not usually one to have leftovers, but I had leftovers. The staff was really nice too, if a bit overeager. The guy who made my sandwich was super friendly. Anyway, if you're in the hood and want something delicious and cheap, this is a good spot. Even though we have good options down here in the Bay Area I've found myself dreaming of Donair Dude on more than one occasion since coming home. read more

These type of small places are what I look for. They are most authentic and brings amazing flavors together. I ordered the chicken donair and my pita was filled with a whole lot of meat and veggies of my choosing. The pita was rather big, I only finished 3/4 of it. We bought the 2 pitas with 2 sodas for $16 which saved us a few bucks. There's not a lot of space to dine in. If you're lucky, you can find a seat. But ordering to-go won't hurt you. I highly recommended it. read more

Was hoping for an authentic Halifax style Donair but fell short. Pita was dry, meat was flavoured mostly with just salt and not the Italian style seasoning used in Halifax. Way too much onion. The sauce was good and sweet but still fell short of being authentic, as it wasn't sour or garlicky like real Halifax Donair sauce. Cheap and filling, but it's really just a pita shop. read more

As soon as there's a line of more than 4-5 people it turns into a 20-30 minute affair just to get a donair. If you're in a rush don't come here. Go to an ice sit-down restaurant, it'll be quicker. It used to be quicker and the pandemic has nothing to do with it. It makes it even more intolerable when waiting outside in the rain around all the cracked out junkies harassing everyone for money. Either hire more staff or get better ones. There's lots of other Donair places on Davie St. I like DD better but if service doesn't improve I won't be going anymore. read more

A year ago, I'd rave over the donairs I'd get from this place--- filled with juicy succulent meat, delicious sauces, veggies, etc. The last two times I went, total disasters!!! Either management has changed or else someone got tired of making money! I got the donair box yesterday and I would have been better off getting ANYTHING else on David for lunch. Total rip off. Dry flavourless meat and just a little bit of salad. Bye, bye Donair Dude.. read more

Solid 3.5 Admittedly this place has always been a quanity-over-quality destination for me; we tend to end up at Donair Dude after a big hike or walking around all over the city. I've tried different meats in the donairs and have since come to the conclusion that only beef and lamb are really worth anyone's time. The falafels were like eating sawdust - dry and not savory - and the chicken is on the bland side. I had chicken in my donair the last time and I tasted nothing but sauce and lettuce (sauce to filling ratio was a bit higher this time, as well). I have been to other places where the flavor of falafel and of chicken had been able to hold their own to tahini sauce and hummus in a wrap, so this is slightly disapponting. The staff has largely been friendly when I visit, so I'm not sure which of them is stingier with vegetables etc. There also always seems to be a different batch of staff working. In any case I will be back when the need to stuff my face silly with donair arises. read more

First time ever in Canada and I was looking for something good to eat by the hotel. Then I heard of this thing called the donair and to be honest it looks like a burrito but it is way better, you choose the ingredients you want to put in there then they close it up and grill it for you. It is basically Chipotle on steroid and it is amazing, we need to have a donair dude in southern California PLEASE PLEASE make it happen. read more

Had to try a donair while we were visiting Vancouver. This places tantalizing smells drew us in one night and we ordered the lamb pita donairs. I got the Tatziki sauce and hot sauce on my donair and it was the perfect amount of creaminess and spice. The lamb meat was very good here! read more

Donair Dude - Lamb pita donair with tatziki and hot sauce - Middle Eastern Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

Just came back from Donair Dude after having had a chicken donair. The topping variety and size of the donair is good, but the price you pay is not. Nearly $9.50 for a friggin donair is approaching rip off territory. Also, they never give you freshly cut meats off the skewer despite asking, but rather from the holding bins in front. The meat's been sitting there for who knows how long, is barely lukewarm and doesn't taste good at all... it's completely bland and devoid of flavor. That's the last time I'll be back to Donair Dude. Seems they are franchising operations around town (which indicates a more corporate approach to their product), and I find the quality is not up to par nor worth the asking price. IMO there are far better mom & pop shwarma shops in the city offering superior tasting product for less cost, so I will be supporting them instead of this corporatized business and their bland tasting, lukewarm donairs. read more

Don't go there. As one of the first customers of Donair Dude on Davie Street I've been taking out plates from here despite the fact that the portions have been getting smaller while the price has been going up steadily. Well, I said, at least they give you a couple of side dishes that make up for the smaller portions. The other day I protested when the side dishes, falafel and dolma, disappeared from the two plates I ordered. They said they changed the menu, without any notice to the customer. When I protested the guy in spectacles, who looked like a banker, presumably the new manager, said it's too bad but the owner made the decision. It didn't matter to him that I'd been one of their first customers, a customer for years, and they should have put a notice to that effect on the wall. Since the founders Savas and Tibet sold this location to franchise it to supply frozen meat to their franchisees, this is the worst development. Well Dude, I think your establishment will go down the drain like so many food outlets that thought they could give a rotten service to customers and get away with it. There are many Donair outlets in the area that serve freshly prepared meat at the same or cheaper prices. Try Donair Stop at Granville and Smithe. read more

Probably my favourite Donair spot in Vancouver (So far..). Excellent staff, quick service and most important of all, absolutely delicious. Very inexpensive for what you get as well for $8.99, they just pack in the meat. I think it used to be $7.99 but the Loonie has been doing pretty poor so it's expected. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If I'm ever biking from east Van to anywhere remotely downtown, This is the place I want to stop almost every time. This Donair will absolutely fill you up as well. If I finish the whole thing in one sitting, I can barely stand up, let alone ride a bike. I will usually order and then bike over to Nelson Park (2 Blocks away) and hang out on the grass to eat it. Show them your love! read more

I visited Donair Dude today and was completely impressed. It's the best Donair I've had since visiting Berlin. The flavors are so incredible. I don't normally eat lamb, but I suggest trying it with your donair. Also adding feta brings a real extra punch to the taste. One donair is super filling, and the baclava is pretty yummy too. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Okay so here is the thing. Do they have okay donairs? Yes But the thing is they advertise they sell shawarma which and when I asked them about their false advertising they told me Donairs and Shawarma are pretty much the same thing. They are very different but over all I give this place three out of five stars because the Donairs are good but don't go if your looking for Shawarma. read more

Love the donairs, absolutely fantastic. one of my favourite places to grab a bite in the city. Huge portions, vegetarian options available, and very very efficient service. Fast, friendly, fresh, and delicious!! You get to choose what you'd like in your Donair and enjoy it freshly grilled to perfection. This place raises the standard on good eating for cheap, $15 post tax for their lamb donair box gives you a massive amount of fresh mediterranean veggies mixed with donair sauces covered with a very generous amount of lamb slices, it's the tastiest low carb meal I could find after hours. I don't usually give a donair place a 5 star but this place deserves it. The portion size is massive for $10. They have delicious fresh toppings and don't seem as greasy as a typical donair shop. You can actually enjoy it sober - if you know what I mean. Conveniently located on Davie. read more
