We recently attended a wedding at this venue and the the service and staff were wonderful. While it was a little chilly to be a part of the outdoor wedding ceremony, we were quickly warmed up to a very well organized cocktail hour and bar area with plenty of tables and roaming staff to collect plates and offer hor deurves. The wedding was in one building while the dinner that followed was in another. Both of the spaces were clean and well lit. And we were surprised that the food for dinner was really quite good. Not your average wedding fare. Parking was either valet or self park so that was a snap on a Thursday night around 4:30. The grounds seemed very well maintained and the golf course surrounding the main buildings looked to be very well manicured. We had a great night and would definitely return. read more

The venue also recently underwent renovations to modernize and refresh the rooms/decor. Mandi is great to work with and very accommodating. We held our daughter's Sweet 16 at Smithtown Landing Country Club on Saturday, September 9, 2023, which turned out to be a major disappointment! We had no air conditioning during our event while the temperature outside was 84 degrees. There was no contingency plan, no back-up plan or even some fans to cool our 81 guests! Upon our arrival in the Bridal Suite to get ready for the party, there was no air conditioning. We were not even offered a bottle of water. It was terribly hot on the second floor. By the time we had our dresses on we were sweating and our hair and make-up paid the price. Our photos were ruined. Once we arrived at the Merrywood Cottage, for the 4 hour party, there was NO air conditioning either! We spent $10,000 at Smithtown Landing for catering alone for below-average food and no air conditioning. I called Mr. Panico the next day about the air conditioning - he said it's an "Act of God" because it was 97 degrees outside which was FALSE! He then stated PSEG cut-off a phase of electricity which affected the air conditioning units to the building and that he was on the roof at 2:00 pm trying to fix the problem! Oddly, the air conditioning in the Riverview building was working perfectly but the Cottage or the Nissequogue building had NO air! Again, there was no contingency plan, no back-up plan or even some fans to cool our guests! When I asked for some sort of reimbursement/refund I was told "take it up with the Town of Smithtown" - Mr. Panico never returned my calls. read more

I attended a wedding here a few months ago. Valet was quick and easy. Everyone seemed to be on the same page and was very organized throughout the night. I liked that they had tables and chairs available for cocktail hour. The reception room was very pretty. Lighting was great. They only had one bar in the room but the bartender was very quick with the orders. Bathrooms were very close by and very clean. We had a good time. read more

Choosing a wedding venue can be pretty daunting. A multitude of factors must be considered: price, location, menu, reputation, just to name a few. I originally got in touch with Kim the catering manager at the time and set up a date to tour the venue. The golf course that the venue is situated in served as a lush backdrop. There were two ceremony sites to choose from, both of which were outdoors (one tented), which made me feel at ease just in case it would rain. We also had two cocktail hour locations to choose from (2 beautiful indoor spaces). The main reception ballroom was grand, but not overly pretentious. We adored the rustic, yet elegant vibe of the venue and were convinced to book after hearing about the package, which included a variety of vendors (we only ended up using the florist and bakery). Over the course of our year long engagement we had to make changes To several things (guest count, menu selections, room selections, vendor selections), but the staff were always accommodating. At some point, there was a staff change and our new point of person became Mandi, who was super sweet and made sure everything I requested would be taken care of. On the actual wedding day: we were allowed to come as early as 11am to setup and use the bridal suite. Joe (maitre d') was the calm in the storm! He got us through the rehearsal for both our ceremony and entrance in just one go. We're so thankful that he was there. He made sure we had more than enough food to eat, the flow of events was smooth, and so much more. Pat (bridal attendant) was also amazing, she was keeping my anxiety in check and also ensured we had everything we needed. We were SO busy the entire day that I didn't have sufficient time to make sure everything was in place, but the moment that Pat led us into the reception hall, I was in awe. Everything was set up perfectly! Joe and Pat even incorporated some of ceremony and cocktail hour decorations to make things come together even further. By the end of the night, they had packed up extra food or us and gathered all of the florals as well. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough space to take everything with us. My only other regret is that I didn't take a step back to fully enjoy everything. I highly recommend Smithtown Landing and cannot thank the staff enough. read more

If you're expecting quality food, don't come here! I was a dinner guest at Smithtown Landing Country Club on May 7, 2023 for a baptism celebration. The quality of the food served was extremely disappointing and, in my view, unacceptable for a reception catering business that advertises itself as upscale. The antipasto contained minimal ingredients and appeared as if it was a leftover from a previous event. The other Hors D'oeuvres were likewise sparse in ingredients. The leaves in the Caesar salad were not fresh. Some of them were even turning brown! The greener part of the lettuce was missing for the most part. Instead, we got mostly lettuce stems - and the serving size was paltry. Most of the guests at my table (myself included) ordered the chicken Milanese entree. The chicken had the texture and flavor of veal! (Did the owners perform a "switcheroo" because they ran out of chicken?) The so called "chicken" (veal?) was dry as a bone! The roasted potatoes were overcooked and also dry. So were the pieces of broccoli mixed with other vegetables dried out - and not to even mention their paltry serving size. The entire main course tasted like reheated leftover food that had been refrigerated for days! All of us ate only a small portion (myself only one quarter) of the meat before pushing our plates away! The quality of the food was sub par even for diner standards. I would characterize it as dog food! I left the place still hungry. So, I cooked myself a quality dinner when I returned home. read more

Just got back from Mother's Day Brunch- where do I start: - Completely Over priced - NOT worth it! - Our view was NOT of the nice golf course - Hardly ate anything bc the food just wasn't good. I left hungry. - Don't bother w/ the Bloody Mary's - disappointing - Waited for 15 minutes on an omelet line of 3 ppl before getting off. Needless to say I never got one. The station ran out of ALL the fixins for the omelets so the chef decided to go in the back to get more. She didn't re- appear for at least 25 minutes. Call me crazy but shouldn't someone else be replenishing the stations leaving the chef in place? I complained to who I think was the hostess and all she said was that "the manager was going in there." That did absolutely NOTHING! - When I asked the women behind the buffet what each of the dishes were she shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know. I then asked one of the servers and he hardly knew either. WHAT?????? U do work there right? - Our table was NOT ready at 1pm and we sat down at 1:30pm - The floor was filthy from previous crumbs of food - There were little ants by our table - I took a photo. I've been coming here for years since my H.S. graduation party in the late 90s. It seems nothing much has really changed since my first party here. Though I've never golfed at this location, the views of the surrounding courses are quite nice (though of course nothing compared to Bethpage and other LI golf courses). The two party rooms are decent size and spacious. The last one we had was held at the one on the right side (I forget the name) as you drive into the club. Each time we had a party here the food was very good, if not excellent. The buffets we've had included chicken francaise, sausage, steak, pasta and perogies. We also had an ice cream and candy bar at the last event. The servers were friendly while the bar had limited options of wine and beer. They had sangria, which was okay but pretty weak alcohol content-wise. The other wine options included the standard Pinot and Chardonnay options for white wine. One other thing, in Suffolk Co. they don't permit you to take food home unless you've already served it. If there was one main complaint last time it was that the room was rather cold when we arrived (it was a cold, rainy May day) and took awhile to warm up, and some of our guests also noted this. If I could give this place half a star I would. & the only reason we stayed was because we were at a function for someone close to us & the air conditioning was on. You have to walk quite a distance to get from the parking lot to the catering hall & a flight of wooden stairs. There is no backround/elevator music playing, all the silverware was dirty &/or spotty, there were random curly hairs on the table. Horrific. To add to the fun the "waitstaff" walking around with various trays of fried things picked & chose who they would offer the food to. When I asked if I should use my hands, they said sure. No plates on the table, no napkins, no silverware, not even a toothpick. Do not arrange for any function here, you will regret it. Yuk. read more

Shame on you Smithtown. You took our friends money for her wedding and flushed it down the toilet. Probably the most disorganized wedding I've ever been to. In fact during the wedding ceremony the hall decided it would be a good time to mow the lawn and use a watering hose to while the bride and groom were exchanging their vows. From the Luke warm Expresso, horrible ice cream and my sirloin , oh my, quite possibly the worst tasting piece of meat I've ever had. I can only describe it as having the texture compared to the inside of a leather shoe. I sliced two tiny silvers and pushed the dish aside. I attended a wedding reception there yesterday, I'd like to comment on the food - but after being assured that at least 1 item on the buffet would not contain a common herb I'm allergic to, all had it. I was then presented with a broiled chicken breast on some pasta, there was no sauce of any sort or flavoring of any kind, and brought 20 minutes before the buffet was ready! Needless to say I refused it. General service as abysmal - I managed to get the bartender to give me a pitcher of water for our table, people from other tables came over and drained it. Supposedly a "sober" event at the brides request, the bartender made it clear that any beverage he had on hand would be served, until she figured it out! Anyone with a mobility problem should avoid this place at all costs. There is a narrow driveway up to the handicapped accessible entrance and you go in by the bathrooms. The driver then has to either back out or wind up on the golf cart paths. There is a steep hill to navigate down to the parking lot when the driver can't get to that side door. Bathrooms do not have grab bars, even in the handicapped stalls. The food at the party was below average, coffee and cake weren't served so once again, people using a walker or cane were in for a rough time as they tried to navigate across the floor. read more

My husband and I went to the "1st annual BBQ & Pig Roast" 8-17-2018. We had a wonderful time. the food was delicious, nothing like a fresh roast pork! Words cannot express the depth of my gratitude for Evelyn and Mandi. Coming through so thoroughly in finding me an alternative venue for my daughter bridal shower. In these uncertain times, having to deal with the aftermath of a tropical storm wasn't even on my list of worries, and they made sure it stayed that way. They were able to find an alternative sister venue that had electricity after they lost their power. Ed's Retirement party in Riverview room was AMAZING. The food was delicious--my favorite was marinated flank steak and julienne veggies but all the food was delicious. The room with the outdoor deck was perfect for a small intimate party and karaoke. Thank you Kim for all you did to make it so special. Bartender Gene was a hit. He was so personable and he made you feel special. Knew what your drink was and had it ready when you came up for another. This is a true jem of a golf course. For the price you can't beat it. The course is in excellent shape. This course does demand certain shots and you have to execute them perfectly or you will pay the price. The pace of play is like a country club even though it is open to the public. No long waits on the tee box or waiting to hit your second shot onto the green, you can really get into a rhythm here. The half way house is decent your average run of the mill stuff hotdogs beers candy. If your looking for a nice 18 hole course in great shape and won't kill the wallet give this place a go! read more

Really SHOCKED by the negative reviews about this venue. My husband and I had our wedding there this weekend and it was perfect. Abhi and Kim worked with us as far as planning the wedding and documenting our every request. We arrived in NYC a couple days before the wedding dropped off all of our special detailed things and went over table arrangements in which Kim documented everything last thing and stored our things for us.. They offer amazing and affordable packages for weddings or any kind of party you'd like to host. The music during cocktail and ceremony is a separate charge paid to the DJ company you select through the package you choose and are told about before you sign the contract and make a deposit. The FOOD was amazing!!The staff Boxed up all the leftovers and things we brought for decoration and had it waiting for us at the end of the night.. Our guests were blown away by the attentive. Horrible doesn't even describe our experience here today for Mother's Day. Food awful!!!! Unedible omelettes (they weren't even cooked through), meat was tough, etc. They even had a bunch of empty food trays at once too. Staff seemed so clueless. The tablecloth was dirty when we sat down and the lady in the front seemed to not understand where we were sitting. She asked my mom to look at the chart! Service was slow (brother in law waited more than 20 min or so for a drink). It was absolutely not worth the 43$ a person. We barely ate. Rich and his staff at Smithtown Landing Country Club gave us our dream wedding. We had a vision and they made it happen, impeccably. From the first day we met Rich, we knew he was our guy. He listened to every word we said and was always available to talk through our ideas. He and his staff, especially Joe, the maître'd, and Chris, the chef, made us feel that our day was as special to them as it was to us, both before and during the wedding. We knew from our interactions with them that our day was going to be fantastic, but the actual day surpassed our highest expectations. We had a fusion wedding with all sorts of flavors! I am a Bengali Muslim, my husband a Jewish, Italian American. Our fusion wedding was a first for Rich and his staff, but no spectator would ever guess; from the food to the service, everything was so seamless that one would think they had done it a thousand times before. Both the Indian food and the Italian food was excellent, all our guests agreed that the goat curry was the best they had ever had and the eggplant rollatini, even my meat-loving aunt couldn't stop from requesting seconds. When we go to parties now, friends and family still rave about the sauces and service at Smithtown. The most important thing about the entire staff at Smithtown is their simultaneous concentration on both the big picture and the tiniest details. Joe and our day-of coordinator, Pat, guided us through every step of the day, from making sure the bridal party was fed breakfast and lunch to calming my nerves moments before I walked down the aisle. When my husband and I walked into the reception hall, Joe was there to inconspicuously take my bouquet from me as I walked in so I would not have to re-trace my steps to put it down - it was such a small action, but it still gets me every time when I watch the video - how did he know to do that?! My sister-in-law still remembers that as we were taking our bridesmaids pictures, she was thirsty at one point, turns around, and there was Pat waiting with some cold water. A few minutes later, she needed her bouquet, and again, Pat was there with bouquet in hand. These little details truly show the entire staff's dedication and enthusiasm. All our other vendors also commented on how wonderful and easy it was to work with Rich and his staff. And I knew that as long as they were around, no matter what happened with any other vendor, they would know how to make things ok. To give that type of peace of mind to a bride is no small thing. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for individualized service and dedication to embracing the day you have always dreamt of and more! read more

The hubs and I originally wanted a beach wedding reception, but we were on a budget and weren't finding any venues that were both beautiful and affordable. Some of the places we visited had beautiful beach views but little to offer in their indoor areas or in terms of food. Others just reeked of the Jersey Shore vibe. We hadn't even considered Smithtown Landing, but when we checked it out on a tip from my aunt, we were so glad that we did! Although it's not on the water, it has a picturesque outdoor deck, unique and beautiful details inside and out, and a spacious interior. The price was also right for our budget, and included an extra "enhancement" if we booked within a week of our visit. (We did, which is how we were able to have the table of dessert liquors and pastries.) Rich, the General Manager, handled all of our requests and emails with timeliness and care, and helped us create little extras to add our personality to the reception, including the Pimm's Cup and Bourbon Lemonade as our specialty drinks. His flexible and friendly demeanor really helped decrease the amount of stress that can go into planning a wedding. The food was memorable (lobster rolls at the cocktail hour!!) and the Maitre'D and Bridal Attendant were attentive without being overbearing. It was as close to perfection as a girl can ask for on her wedding day! If you're planning a wedding on Long Island, do not let this place slip under your radar! My husband and I got married at Smithtown Landing on July 3rd. We chose this venue because our niece got married there the year prior and we had a great time. Being a Lessings made things much easier for me. This is the second marriage for both of us so didn't really want to spend lots of time making phone calls to pick out flowers, photographers, etc. Having everything included was awesome. From the moment we walked in Evelyn made us feel at ease. She was AMAZING throughout our whole process. We planned the wedding in 3 months. Never once did I have a stressful moment working with Evelyn. Absolutely helpful with EVERYTHING. The day of the wedding went very smooth. Unfortunately we missed the cocktail hour, our photographers fault, but everyone raved about it. The food at the reception was ehhhh. Nothing great. One of the dishes was suppose to be sliced steak. A few people received chunks of meat. All of the servers, bartender, bridal attendant and maitre'd were awesome. Very attentive to us. May 30, 2015 we held my daughters Bridal Shower we had close to (60) sixty people, we had planned a Alice in Wonderland "Mad Hatter Theme" both Debbie and Rich were so easy and accommodating and professional to work with. There was never a NO in their response to me. I work in Hotels/Catering, I have for over 30 years, with up to 40,000 sq. feet of meeting space so I thought I have this,,,,, I became the Mother and they were still so kind and generous, the FOOD was excellent, everything was perfect, Gene, Pat and Danielle were so professional - they took care of us from start to finish. Then we checked out the Smithtown Landings Country Club. We pretty much mutually hated it. You drive past the white-bred country club golfers on the way to the place, then have to deal with lots of fake people who are catering to the golfers, as they drive past the ceremony site and past the windows in the back of the reception hall on their little golf carts. The price was more expensive and there were so many times when they said 'if you want this added, it's extra'. I think the last straw for me was when the guy said, "We could also get you a taco truck." Oh boy, that's classy! read more

We had an engagement party for our son . It was perfection, simply amazing. It was all about the staff. There was a sweet 16 prior to our party which ended at 4, our party started at 5. I didn't know if they would be able to transform the room but they did and they did it beautifully. The maître d Joe did such a awesome job, I did nothing but enjoy myself and my guest. He was so thoughtful and had his eye on everything. We had a guest (grandpa) go to another table to chat and Joe found where he was sitting and brought his meal to him. We had another guest arrive late, 3 hrs. and he kept the food out for him. Everything from start to finish was perfection. Even the bartender went out of his way to get special beer for us. Michelle was also very helpful in setting the whole party up. It was a pleasure to work with her. Staff was very respectful and treated us all like we were the guest of honor.
