Didn't even get a chance to try the food. Walked in with my toddler, who told me he wanted pizza for dinner. Stood at the counter and made eye contact with three separate people who didn't bother to even greet me (2 guys making pizza and one server/host who was standing behind the counter, with her arms crossed staring blankly at me). I stood there patiently waiting for someone to ask how they could help me when a young girl walked in after me. She walked right around me and up to the counter where she and one of the guys behind the counter began engaging in banter; "it's been a while!". So they know each other, cool. Then the man behind the counter began bagging to the order she clearly came in to pick up. This is the point I decided to leave. How do you begin servicing the person behind me before even acknowledging me? Clearly you weren't too busy to have THIS conversation. I just came in for TWO SLICES OF CHEESE PIZZA to go. Abatino's holds a special place in our heart. When living in the local area and pre- Yelpie, it was a restaurant my husband and I frequented regularly. The food was always fresh and just amazingly good. It always hit the spot. Sadly, we moved more than an hour away and our visits stopped being as frequent. However, we were in the westchester area last weekend for a fun event with the kids and Abatino's immediately came to our mind to go have dinner at. We needed a casual spot we know we would all like and we hoped Abatino's would still be IT! Well, all these years later, it is still the wonderful place we remember but even better now because our kids got to experience and love it! Service and dining have not changed- prompt and comfortable. The real winner- the food! We got meatballs to start- kids devoured them and they LOVED the rolls. So much so we got some to take home with our food we couldn't finish. Abatino's sauces are what seriously deserve the praise. From their basic red sauce to the sauces on the different dishes. Heck, the cheese sauce on my youngest's macaroni was so good. Even their salads are good, guys- their dressing and the Gorgonzola they use- it's superb! All I can say is if you are looking for homemade really good Italian food in White Plains- this is the place to go! Don't let its facade next to the Stop & Shop fool you- it is warm and inviting inside. The FOOD will not disappoint. You can smell the deliciousness as soon as you walk in the door. The ambience and service were good. The food was not as good. I ordered the chicken sorrentino, which is my usual at Italian restaurants. I didn't like the sauce at all. Took my cousins out to dinner here. The waitress seemed a tad out of sorts. They didn't bring bread until we asked for it. They didn't bring parmesan cheeses until we asked for it. They didn't bring my side order (which comes with the dish) until I asked for it. It was the busboy who rectified all three situations. I felt like we should have tipped him - not her. None of us liked our main dishes. While leaving, we actually laughed at the comedy of errors and the food. I picked up the $119 bill so the joke was on me. Some of the best Italian food outside in the greater NYC area. Their sauces are robust and built with a ton of flavor and depth. Their food is handled with care and the chef's efforts really shine through. The staff and atmosphere are very welcoming. The eggplant Rollatini appetizer was delicious. Their tomato sauce was so delicious we cleaned the entire plate. The chicken rollatini dinner was so tender and presented beautifully. The sherry sauce it is cooked in is one of the best things ive had. The braised chicken wasn't as tender but the sauce and pasta were perfect as well. Thanks to Yelp for helping me find this place. Got the small salad which was a big bowl, balsamic on the side was really thick and creamy, could have been heavier on the balsamic. Small tray of plain wings (about 30) were a hit, w/tasty chunky blue cheese dressing. For entrees we chose the penne vodka (no bacon), broccoli rabe, and the chicken with sun dried tomatoes. Pasta was cooked well with a good tomato-y sauce. Chicken was very moist with a light garlic sauce. Gave us a bag of bread rolls, no butter, but they were hardly touched. I live about 20 minutes away and have plenty of Italian restaurants near me, but Abatino's will always be a favorite. The ambiance is nice and the wait staff is super friendly and helpful. Whenever I split a meal they make the effort to put it onto 2 dishes and don't charge extra like a lot of restaurants. The rolls are fresh and delicious, I could eat the rolls and be done. I always get a Caesar salad which has homemade croutons and a dressing that's not too thick and creamy. Then I get the farfalle alla boscaiola which is sort of like penne vodka but a little tangy and amazing. The pasta is always cooked perfectly al dente. I get that dish every time but have tried others' plates and it's always delicious. The menu is also varied so there will definitely be a dish for everyone. Always a fabulous meal! Had lunch here and decided to try something new. I ordered the chicken cacciatore, and my friend got the chicken Romana. We shared. The chicken cacciatore was fabulous! Love the sauce it was in. The chicken Romano was equally delicious, with lots of mushrooms in a wine, garlic sauce. Yum! The salads that came with it were fresh and delicious. In that case this area must just have a bunch of 5 star places because Abatino's pizza is just wonderful. My experience at this restaurant was nothing short of a disaster. The service was shockingly terrible from start to finish. We arrived at 4:50 for a table 8. We had another group with 7 people. The manager would not allow us to sit together although there were only 4 people in the entire restaurant. He wanted us to pay $40 per person to sit together. We had 7 kids and were just ordering a couple pizza pies, penne vodka and salad. The salad was good, but the pizza was very greasy. I left feeling frustrated and utterly disappointed. A longtime staple since moving to Westchester (5+ years). Abatino's is arguably the best italian takeout in Westchester. The food is always perfect, I mean we have never had a complaint in our frequent takeout from here ever. We have gotten it catered, delivery, dine-in once, takeaway once a week for the last two years, and prior to that pretty often. The spaghetti bolognese is my fiance's favorite. They add a touch of cream and it is just the best dish. They also give enough for multiple servings. The chop chop salad is a favorite of mine. The dressing is to die for. I don't get it with the olives and it is just perfect. We have had the pizza many times, it is always bussin. It's perfect thin and crispy. We've had all of the appetizers, all outstanding classic italian dishes. We especially love the chicken fingers. They're *real* chicken fingers, not that reheated stuff that other restaurants use. We can truly tell that this is authentic italian cuisine and the owners are very good at what they do. The chef makes wonderful food that is ALWAYS consistent. Ok ~ so I would rather write a well deserved 5 star than a "not sure" 2 star review. Seriously, this little place is a slice right out of heaven when it comes to consistently fine italian food. Why I have never reviewed it, I just don't know. It has been my go to place for chicken scarp for many many years. Calzones that never disappoint me and always a smile when I go thru the door. I went for lunch this past Sunday with my family. It's was our second time eating at this restaurant and I must say it's been terrific each time. It's located in the shopping center next to Stop and Shop in North White Plains. I shop there regularly and never thought to eat there until a friend recommended it. The pizza is very good and so are the pasta dishes. I had the spaghetti carbonara and it was delicious. My wife and I also shared a ceasar salad and it is one of the best we've ever had. Ate at Abatino's last night. It's been at least ten years since I last ate there and the food was awesome. Don't know what has transpired over this period of time but the restaurant that I loved has done a complete 180. I ordered the calamari for my appetizer. Worst I've ever had. Portion was very small for the price and was over breaded and overcooked. The garlic bread was awful. Over cooked in the oven and had a minimal amount garlic. Was hard as a rock. I ordered chicken sorrentino which, again was underwhelming. Looked like the chef went next door to Stop and Shop and pulled it out of the freezer. Two really thin pieces of chicken and even thinner eggplant on top. It was almost non-existent. The cheese topping looked like two squares of cheese were placed on top. Just awful. However, the sauce was very tasty. My two friends had chicken scarp that was under done. Again though the sauce was outstanding. I will not return. read more

My family and I were in town for a funeral and someone who lives there highly recommended this place. The food was mediocre at best. They wouldn't sell us a side of pasta for a member of our party that cannot eat large portions. Think they were afraid of missing the price of a dinner. The service was nothing better than a mid level pizzeria. The atmosphere lacked character. Nice chairs and tables, plain. No decor whatsoever. Aside from not being able to get what we wanted I had the veal francese. It was the worst I ever had. The veal was so tough I could not chew it. I took it home to the dog. Have visited Abatino's for lunch and I enjoyed the fried calamari special as someone who usually dislikes calimari. My chicken Milanese was also good and had a nice sized arugula salad on top. I haven't tried their pizzas so I cannot judge that but I would typically not order pizza from somewhere like this (just a personal preference - I'd rather go to a designated pizza shop). Overall the food is good but can be a bit over priced compared to other Italian spots in Westchester that may be more upscale. The gnocchi was my favorite dish from here but again, I feel it was quite overpriced especially for takeout.
