After a long day trying to catch up on things that need to be done and physical therapy, my brain decided I needed to have pizza. Physical therapy was a painful strenuous session, and I was not in the mood to think about anything other than buying pizza. My friend called during my PT session asking me if I needed her to bring food to the house. I called her after PT and told her pizza sounded great and she and her husband need to come eat pizza with Dave and I. She said she was going to suggest pizza so she would pick one up. I told her don't worry about it because she has been preparing me fresh foods the last couple of weeks because of my knee replacement surgery. We came home from PT and I ordered two large thin crust "Works" pizzas from Donatos on South Parkway. The person taking my order said the pizzas would be delivered in 40 minutes. When the doorbell rang after 30 minutes, I thought it was my friend and her husband. It was Donatos. They were early and the pizzas smelled great. Five minutes later, my friend and her husband arrived, bringing a freshly baked peach cobbler and a salad. The four of us ate supper together. We had a good time and it was nice to talk to someone other than Dave all day. The pizzas were delicious. They were loaded with a lot of meat and plenty of vegetables. I must've been craving pizza because I kept saying this is the best pizza I've ever had. In truth, it was probably the second or third best pizza I've ever had, but it was the best pizza I've had in the last six months. I went in to order food but needed to use the bathroom beforehand and I was told we have no public restrooms I said even if I'm going to eat here I can't use the bathroom and I was told hatefully There is someone in there ! The workers attitude was terrible as we were going to feed our grandson before we took him to football practice. No one else was in the store so I'm pretty sure they could have used the business maybe their employees attitude have something to do with the empty seats ! read more

I have not ate at this place in years. My friend wanted to try a different place so we ordered and picked up a " the works" pizza with thin crust. We ask the size in inches after the girl said it came in 4 different sizes. She didn't know!! How ridiculous! So we ordered a medium and it was almost $23 dollars. It tasted ok but seriously could have gotten a better and BIGGER one at Little Caesar's. That's where we will go next time! Don't waste your money here. read more

Absolutely the worse service I've received anywhere I've eaten. The food was far from what we expected, especially at a well known pizza place. There were 8 of us eating, and there for a birthday celebration. Once finished eating, we asked for to-go boxes. The server dropped the boxes on the table and said "There you go". Donatos has been my favorite pizza place in Huntsville for years. But tonight just did me in. I ordered their chicken spinach alfredo pizza and when it was delivered it had a red sauce on it. Ruined it for me. It cost so much and I just hated it. I called the store to let them know and they assured me that they did not have an alfredo sauce. I haven eaten that pizza a 100 times and I know it has an alfredo sauce but the manager would not relent and admit they made a mistake and just told me they didn't have that kind of pizza. What a bunch of crap. Now I won't order it again and will discourage everyone I know from ordering when all they had to do was so they made it wrong and refund the money. read more

They are a thin crust pizza place, but it's not crispy and good, it's like wet stale cardboard in both taste and texture. Unfortunately I'm subjected to this pizza on a regular basis because my coworkers love it. I keep giving it chances to be good and every time I'm disappointed. As chain pizza goes, donatos is one of my favorites. I like the thin crust and tangy sauce and they are generous with the toppings. Today we called in an order in advance to save time as we were on a schedule and ordered a small personal pepperoni and a medium 3 topping pizza, and two soft drinks. The bill was $36!! The pizza is great but drastically overpriced unless you get a special or sale. And despite calling ahead we waited 30 min after arriving. I know the labor shortage is affecting everyone but the slow service and prices take a 5 star meal down to a 3. Next time I'll find a special and so carry out when I'm not in a hurry. read more

First time I've ever gone to Donatos pizza. We sat down and never saw an employee for nearly 15 minutes. We were the first and only people in at 11am. Every table was filthy. Tells me they left in a hurry last night and never cleaned the dining room from yesterday. Should have just walked out then but I've alalways wanted to try their pizza. Finally I walked into the kitchen and found a woman that obviously did not want to be there today. I asked her to take our order. I didn't know you ordered at a counter. She was incredibly rude telling me the rules! She took the order and brought on the pizza surprisingly fast. It was good, but what kind of respectable Italian pizza parlor cuts their pizzas in rectangles? I felt like we were eating pizzas at a kids birthday party. Then, I made the mistake of using the bathroom before leaving. Darn right disgusting. I thought the pizza and food would be on point but it was all bland. The hot chicken sandwich is good but not enough pickles & ranch. My calzone was sooo flat, being from up north I'm used to a loaded calzone! Not nearly enough cheese either. My individual pizza was flavorless as well but I ate it because hunger kicked in. Boy oh boy. This is a lesson learned in not judging a book by its cover. This is a counter service/drive thru/delivery pizza place. It was near our hotel and after our plans of grocery store sushi went up in flames, we decided to go here. They have a cauliflower crust pizza but I didn't want that crust but I wanted the toppings. Vegan sausage, jalapenos and regular cheese. After some back and forth with the cashier, he was able to do it. I was about to get frustrated because I think they got confused but he managed to make it work. Thank you! We got back to our hotel room and devoured this pizza. It was so dang good! It's pretty reasonably priced as well. It kinda reminded of Fazoli's but I've never been inside of one. Maybe a Schlotsky's? Either way, it was delicious. read more

One of the best pizzas in Huntsville - but be patient, it seems they are always understaffed so the pizza takes a little while. Their pizzas are not like any others, so no "cookie cutter" pizza here. First time at a Donato's. The Yelp reviews led me to expect a mediocre pizza experience, which was pretty accurate. This is a sit-down pizza restaurant with booths and tables. Order at the counter. Decorated nicer than I expected (I thought it was a take-out/delivery place like Papa John's and Dominos). The cashier, Lindsay, was smiley and pleasant... kudos to her. While waiting for my pizza, I looked around and saw booth seats ripped badly, and noticed the Health Inspection score was only 88. The wall mural indicated this is a proud, family-owned business since 1963, based on Columbus, Ohio. It also indicated onfidence that this will be "the best" pizza. (The best compared to what, I asked myself.) I saw several teeny tiny thin little pizzas come out and taken to tables of lone diners. The single serving pizza. Lordy, I'd starve! Smaller than an appetizer pizza at other places. Super small. For about the same price, get the stromboli! Got my pizza and it smelled very good. Looked good, too, and I was pleased to see they used fresh mushrooms and not canned, which shockingly so many Italian restaurants do. My expectation level rose quite a bit, and I was giddy that I'd be, most likely, writing a review with higher ratings than the others. I love a pleasant surprise! One bite of the pizza and... ummm... where's the taste? Seriously had no flavor. Tried another bite, hoping I got a bad piece. Nope. Tasteless. Totally. I suddenly wished for basil and garlic powder to help it. Lack of flavor and pizza price 25% higher than it should be. For a similar edge-to-edge and sliced pizza, Pieology in Bridge Street is far superior, with all the toppings and sauces you want for $9.00. My Piology was melt in my mouth delicious; Donato's was "why'd I pay so much for flavorless pizza?". Medium thin 2 topping was $13.01 (includes tax). Good pizza, and a nice place to visit. Essentially a all around good pizza joint/chain restaurant, serving hot fresh made Chicago deep dish pizzas with a zesty sauce. I had the veggie personal size, and it was pretty good and the price was good. It was slow while I was there, so I can't say much about the atmosphere, and the sevice was helpful - but it took a long time to get my pizza. They do offer free refills on soda though.
