Ordered a founders pizza and wanted no banana peppers on one half. Was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. Pulled up to the drive through at 14 minutes and was told it would be ready in a minute. Watched the guy cut it and boxed it up. He repeated that it was a founder with banana peppers only on one side. Well it was 100% banana peppers. Called and asked to speak to the manager, they put the phone down and I waited 1 minute, then they hung up. REAL CUSTOMER service huh. I bet you guess I hate banana peppers. Very rude manager was told calzone couldn't be made well done I explained that I order it everyday well because the ingredients are not done actually freezing cold and was made to feel unwelcome to even place my order I will notify Lexington health department of poor temperature control serving raw or undercooked meets etc. The manager whom name is will said they were not franchise so I assume he is the owner. This place was great for takeout. They even have a drive up window where you can pick up your order - I've never seen that at a pizza place so my mind was blown. My favorite was the mariachi signature pizza - it wasn't too spicy but had good flavor! The hot chicken was really good! The chicken on top was good spicy. The main reason I took a star off was because I asked for no pickles but they still put it on :/ The cheese pizza had good red sauce - the marinara had delicious seasoning in it versus just a bland marinara. My first time eating here. Clean place! Management was so sincere and polite! It was late night and we were starving. The manager mentioned a special to add a one topping medium for an extra five dollars. We ordered pepperoni pizza. Their sauce is delicious. So many pepperonis! My order was dumped on the ground outside my hotel room. I ordered 5 items, 2 were in the bag, my pizza was a mess out of the box upside down. It was cold & looked like chopped dog chow that was leftover. So for my $20 I got two bottles of water. Insult to injury, the arrogant voice on hold hung up on me after 20 minutes when I tried to contact you about this. I'm just going to call the credit card company and dispute the charge. I called the restaurant directly to place an order for delivery. The order was passed off to a third party deliver service (DoorDash). The dasher called because he couldn't find the delivery location address. While giving him directions to my door, he decided to leave it at the Leasing office front door, because they are closed. It's also 20° outside today. I Told the Dasher he was in the wrong place, he responded. "Well walk and get it!" Then hung up. The leasing office is about 1/4 mile from my actual apartment. I then called Donatos at 859-543-1818, spoke with a Manager, by the name of "Victoria." She was as rude or if not even more rude than the Dasher. Her only solution was to reorder and pay with a Credit/debit over the phone again, because they don't have their own delivery drivers. I declined because it would have to be delivered third party again. She also hung up the phone. I will never again order from Donatos and definitely will not utilize DoorDash again. I'm extremely disappointed in the way that Management handled the situation, and will discourage others from ordering from this location at 3120 Mapleleaf Dr. No stars given! Not satisfied with service or problem resolution provided by the Manager. If the food is anything like the service and delivery, I'm willing to bet the food is just as bad. read more

I give this place three stars but that is not as bad as you think!. It's just I expected something different. Pizza is along the lines of your typical fast food pizza place (Dominoes, Papa Johns etc..). I had it delivered to my hotel room while visiting Lexington Kentucky and it arrive fast and fresh. Delivery driver was very friendly but he looked extremely tired. The price was good and the pizza was almost cooked to order ( I ask it be cooked well done). I liked the amount of toppings, pizza made great breakfast the next day. Three stars is more toward the quick service than anything however that could explain why my pizza was not cooked to order. Overall it was a nice experience for a quick pizza. Try it for yourself but I don't recommend it as your first option. Could be cause I ordered on a busy Friday night and pizza is always bad when places are busy. I'll give them another try on a less busy night. read more

I've never had donatos before and when I tell you I've been missing out!!! Whew! The thin crust pizza is AMAZING! My toddler and I tackle a medium together and love it. The only reason a star is lost, is because of the customer service. I expressed it was my first time in, all excited, and the gentleman literally just stared at me... didn't offer help or anything. I sat at the drive through window for 10 minutes no one said hey we are busy or anything the cook kept cutting pizza and I believe the main guy Jason in charge didn't even come to the window. After moving to Lexington 2 years ago, I found this place and always enjoyed their pizza. It always arrived quickly, hot and fresh. I especially liked their cauliflower crust. The last time I ordered, I received the email that it had left the building for the 10 minute drive to my house (it showed an arrival time of 12 minutes later). After 30 minutes, it hadn't arrived so I called and spoke to a rude staffer who said they never arrive that quickly (though for 2 years they ALWAYS had before). He was argumentative and unpleasant. 45 minutes after leaving the store, my pizza finally arrived and not surprisingly, it was cold. It's too bad - they had always done great before. Had the staff person at least been pleasant the whole thing could have gone differently. My next order will not be at Donato's. read more

The thin crust is really good- it's like a giant cracker. The sauce is not too thick and relatively sweet. Very generous with the pepperonis- they cover the whole pizza. I've been enjoying Donatos Pizza for nearly 30 years...well before they arrived in Lexington. I've been a faithful customer at this location near Andover since they opened. Every once in a while I have gotten a less than perfect pie. It happens. I have never asked for a remake or made a negative call to them. Their pizza (until now) has been pretty consistent. Today I got one that was clearly burnt. Clearly overcooked. It was a pick up order and when I got it home and realized it was overbaked...I was going to try and overlook that and hope it was s just the top and edges. This pie was just too burnt-top and bottom. I am not the guy who routinely returns food at a restaurant or asks for remakes (maybe second time to ever) but it just wasn't edible. So I thought that this pie had just gotten by them when they were boxing it...I had never had one this bad. I live about 10 min away so decided to return and ask for and ask them to remake...I figured they would take one look at it and see it was overbaked. Nope. When I handed the employee the box of pizza with only one piece missing and asked for a remake...he asked what was wrong with it. I drew his attention to the burnt top, edges and bottom on the pieces I had turned over...his response...that is the way our ovens bake them now. He said there was nothing wrong with the pizza. He did say that he could "run it through quicker" next time if I asked when I called and gave special instructions. But for this pizza there was nothing wrong with it. I asked if he felt the corporate office would promote this example as an acceptable product? He said that was the way he was instructed to make it. Unfortunately I left without a fresh pizza. Since my first experience at Donato's I have now become a super loyal customer to the one at Andover. I order at least once every other week, and it has become my favorite go-to pizza place. Their Pepperoni pizza is one of the best I've ever had, just covered in pepperoni to the edge, and the crust is awesome, and the pepperoni slightly crispy. The sauce is great, and I always order extra cups of it to dip the pizza in. Another of my favorites is the Margherita pizza. I crave it. Delicious is the bottom line. Text and email deals are good. This is the first time I've ordered from Donato's and will be the last. I ordered for my niece who just had a baby. Never got a confirmation email through the app but my card was charged. The order was over 30 mins late on a Monday evening. I call and ask to speak to the manager and the customer service rep that answered was clueless, rude and could not help me. He informed me my card had been charged TWICE but he could not refund my second charge. He also told me the manager couldn't talk to me today and I could call back tomorrow at 10AM. For a $60+ order that is ABSURDLY bad customer service. I will never order from Donatos again. read more

Stranded at home during Snowmageddon 2016 we called Donato's hoping they were delivering despite the snow covered roads. Thankfully they were so we placed an order! We ordered a large thin crust pizza: half Mariachi Beef (ground beef, jalapeño peppers, freshly cut Roma tomatoes, sharp Cheddar cheese, smoked Provolone cheese, mariachi spice, side of sour cream) and half Founders Favorite (Heritage pepperoni, family-recipe sausage, shaved ham, banana peppers). Both were hot and delicious and I'd recommend you try either of them. We like variety so we also ordered 10 traditional hot wings. They were pleasant as well but light on sauce so ask for extra if you want them wet. They came with 1 dressing and we chose blue cheese. This was the second time coming to Donatos in my life. They gave me a half order of wings and a pizza when I ordered a full order. No big deal, the manager gave me a phone in credit. Pleasant person to deal with. On my return trip appr. 2 weeks later I used the credit to get the same order with my full order of wings this time. I get the pizza home and me and my wife start to enjoy the pizza, as I pray over the food I notice a leg (insect) on her paper plate. We take a closer look at the whole pizza and there is a full bug baked into the cheese. I get up and take the pizza back and speak with Victoria? I believe. I came in, no greeting, no greeting the first time either. I said "there is a bug on this pizza I would like a refund". She opens the pizza and picks up the bug and frowns at me and says this is not a bug. I asked for the back staff to come verify, they agreed with me legs, wings,two eyes, mouth it's a bug. I told Victoria to not insult my intelligence. She continued with her denials still and NEVER just said the words to diffuse any customer, "I'm sorry, let me get you a refund, another meal?" Love Donatos pizza!! Thin, crispy crust with toppings right up to the edge make u devour every scrumptious bite! We had the Hawaiian pizza with sliced almonds, ham, pineapple and cinnamon. Sooooo scrumptious. We also had a mushroom pizza with fresh mushrooms covering every piece. The caprese salad was good but the fresh mozzarella was bland and spongy. We also has cheesy garlic bread which tasted good but seemed cold by the short drive home. Drive thru is super convenient for picking up and it was fast and the service was friendly. I love this pizza. I like the thin crust and enjoy how it is cut into small pieces. We had a department lunch at work where we ordered several different pizzas from here and the small pieces were great for sampling all the different pizzas. The Hawaiian Pizza and Margherita Pizza were my favorite. I also tried the Chicken Harvest Salad - which was a little different. I didn't feel like the ingredients went together well. Next time I would probably go with the Italian Salad instead. Also the Cinnamon Bread is a wonderful dessert. read more

Service is spot on from the person who takes your order to the delivery driver. This company excels at customer service and other restaurants could learn a lot from them.
