The worst pizza I have ever had in my life. They should change the name to BIG SHI..Y PIZZA. Despite being less than 10 minutes away from my home it took 90 minutes for the delivery. The pizza was very burned and despite that was cold. Not cool COLD! It was so charred that you could not tell what the toppings were. The delivery guy was surly despite getting a good tip. we went to Big City Pizza in Nicholasvill,KY and found it was only a take out locatiom. The webaited noted the hours at the Hamburg location was open until 9pm. We drove all the way out there about 6:45pm and it was closed. We ended up going to Old Chicago Pizza which was probably a better choice anyway. read more

Big City Pizza is our go-to place to order pizza from primarily because of its proximity to us! Ordering can be done on the phone or online which is nice. When "building your own" pizza online you can choose the crust style- I always get confused because two selections are "Chicago thin" or "New York" but I always think of Chicago style pizza as the deep dish kind? Maybe I am mistaken. We ordered the "Chicago thin" pizza our last order and it's great if you like thin crust! The traditional crust I believe is the "New York" which is good as well. They have a great selection of toppings to choose from! I can't speak for their delivery because we've always picked up, however the orders are usually done pretty quickly! read more

In search of a good local Chicago style deep dish pizza, I decided to give Big City Pizza a shot this week, having seen theme listed on a FB foodies group as a purveyor. And frankly I was delighted! The "Chicago Stuffed" pizza was very thick, of course, with a buttery crust, as is traditional for Chicago deep dish. The tomato was very tangy, more akin to tomato paste, in terms of flavor than typical pizzas. I ordered it with pepperoni, sausage, and garlic, my go-to pizza toppings. And the cheese, can't leave out the cheese. It was loaded with cheese, the kind that makes for a big stretch when you pull a slice out. Yum! They build the pizza with a homemade dough base, then cheese, then toppings, then another layer of cheese, and their hose-made pizza sauce. I also ordered the Big City House Salad, which I recommend. I ordered a pizza from Big City last week through the Eat Street app. It was convenient and I didn't have to wait long when I got there to pick it up. During Covid they are bringing the food out to your car so you have to call or knock on the door when you arrive. The pizza was just like any average pizza. Nothing to complain about but it wasn't memorable either. We got the deluxe pizza with pepperoni and sausage and a few veggies. I mainly ordered from here because it was close by. About an hour before closing I placed an order on Door Dash. Tracked the order for an hour and about 10 minutes before they were closing I get a call from door dash to tell me my order was cancelled. Craving a new pizza experience, my friend and I used to Yelp app to select Big City Pizza, and we very much enjoyed it! The bread sticks and the pizza we tried were really good! That said, the star of our visit was their Calzone - it was nothing short of incredible :-) For dessert we got a huge cookie that had obviously just been freshly baked; we ate it and it was warm; a really nice finish to an great meal. If you are looking for a good quality, basic pizza Big City fits the bill. A previous reviewer nailed it though when they said Big City was a better version of Papa Johns. The pizza is good and loaded with toppings but doesn't stand out much. Delivery took a while longer than expected but considering there was a near monsoon outside I can't complain. I am interested in trying out the Chicago deep dish on another visit since there aren't really many options in the area for a good Chicago style pie. read more

Probably more like a 4.5 as I was close to saying 5 stars. I had heard of a Chicago stuffed pizza in a local Facebook group but didn't see it on the menu and could not find it online to order. I called in and mentioned it... to my surprise yes they have a Chicago stuffed and it was excellent! I love Chicago style pizza and this one didn't disappoint. Buttery crisp crust with a ton of cheese, pepperoni (my choice of topping today) and a very tasty pizza sauce on top made this my new favorite pizza in town. I'll be going back for more. We also had the cheese sticks and they were better than most I've had. Can't wait to go back as I'd like to try some others on the menu like their pan and New York style but I'm not sure I'll be able to pass up ordering the Chicago stuffed. read more

Hubby and I are recent transplants from Huntsville, AL We looked at online pictures and Big City Pizza caught our eye, the restaurant looked to have a good vibe. Due to some medical problems, we chose to have our food delivered. The first time we tried Big City Pizza, we had the SOHO pizza and The Bronx pizza. The hand tossed crust is pretty good. But the toppings on the SOHO seemed to be lacking. It was still good enough to give Big City a second chance. Tonight we ordered the Bronx again because the husband likes it. That's where the two stars comes from. I had the Antipasto salad and the central Park Veggie Sub. Very disappointed! The presentation of my sandwich was good. It was delivered hot and fresh and when I opened it up I was pleasantly surprised at how yummy it looked. Then, I looked inside the bread and major disappointment set in. I ate the sandwich because, well, I was hungry. It was more like bread with a hint of mushroom and I think I tasted artichoke in one bite but I'm not sure because it was just a faint hint. The pictures will show what I'm talking about. The antipasto salad could have been good but I pulled out most of the lettuce. Even with the lettuce gone, it still lacked anything special. I've had much better. I'm sad because Big City just looks like a cool place. The menu is exciting and sounds delicious but the food isn't cutting it. Our favorite pizza joint recently closed. We have not had pizza in a few weeks so the pressure was on to find a new place. We started here and was not disappointed. The menu has a lot of options for a small place. The NY state crust was good. Looking forward to trying the thin. We had the SOHO, a cheese pizza and an order of cheese sticks. The sauce was just a little sweet and the cheese was ample. All very good. The SOHO was well cooked with the onions and artichokes were burnt on the edges just right. Seriously. Don't let this place close due to Covid. Our family wanted AUTHENTIC deep dish, and found this place. The deep dish was amazing. The Sauce was the best in Lexington, and you can tell it's freshly made. The crust was perfectly flaky, crunchy, and had tons of flavor. A hidden gem! The pizza here is one of the best in town, a small local business. When you look them up or use their app it says they only have one location in Nicholasville but they are on Chinoe in Lexington! We have tried all three crust types and the thin has turned out to be our favorite! We did not care for the pan as much as it was too doughy. They have tv's with sports and a couple of arcade games in a small space. The garlic knots are also outstanding!getting refills on your drinks is a bit of a challenge because if there is no one ordering the staff hangs out in the back and the drink machine is behind the check out. My daughter and I just left Big City Pizza in Lexington at the Hamburg Pavillion. I ordered a cauliflower crust Pizza with Hamburger, onions, peppers and mushrooms. My daughter ordered grilled chicken and Pineapple deep dish pizza. Our pizza was brought to our table within 20 minutes. My pizza had banana peppers, which I didn't order, but no Hamburger. The pizza wasn't cut deep enough and I couldn't cut it with my knife. I tore a piece off, put it in my mouth and spit it out. It tasted really bad. It was the worst pizza I have ever eaten. My daughter said her pizza was really bad and it made her nauseated. I should have turned around and left when I saw the server vacuuming a filthy, carpeted floor at 11:30 am. The chairs and tables were rickety and some were dirty. In the ordering area the bar was dirty. I regret spending my hard earned money here. This restaurant was empty when we arrived and only 3 different people came into eat while we were there. We are talking Monday, December 11, 2023. No holiday shoppers or business people. I've read the reviews and decided to order delivery from this place. I hate to say, but we weren't really excited about their pizza when we received our order. Don't get me wrong, it was a good pizza, but it was like getting delivery pizza from one of the pizza chains (I dare not say). Well... I wasn't impressed. First of all when we walked in there was NO ONE around. People were frantically working in the back and periodically made eye contact with us but didn't seem eager to service the dining room. There just a few clean tables and we were the only ones in there eating. The wife and I tried this place on a whim based on Yelp because we are looking for great pizza. With NYC fresh on our minds and the pizza domination hat is the Castro juggernaut of NYC this place wasn't for us. Pizza was only "ok". Drinks were "blah" in a bottle. Customer service was missing.
