So it's a doner kebab place which is Turkish food. But advertised as German. And there were very kind Hispanic people working there. I don't know where or what to call this food it just amazing! I would have expected this food if I was looking for middle eastern food near Detroit but I was in Hartford. 10 minutes from Little Switzerland. Moist off the kebab meat. Get the original. Has this grilled crispy pita outside and soft warm middle. Wife liked the quesadilla version. Good but you will miss that pita bread. They have garlic, herb, or spicy sauce. Get all three! I heard about Doner Kebab a couple of years ago and finally had the chance to give them a try, it was certainly worth the wait! A rather small both type layout located in a strip mall that presented well inside. I ordered the Classic Kabob with all of the fixings with spicy sauce and was very pleased with the taste, the size and had all I could do to finish it. Coupled with an order of fries with cheese sauce made for a tasty treat. My wife had the kabob bowl which was tasty and plentiful. The service was great and the food was fresh. This is probably the most authentic doner kebab outside of Germany! After we heard of its existence, we drove out an hour out of our way just to try it and it did not disappoint! Portions were huge, the seasoning reminded us of Berlin, and it really satisfied our craving. Try the classic doner & get the fries (even though it will be too much food!). The flavor is perfectly balanced - savory meat with fresh crunch vegetables on special toasted bread. Everything is made in-house! The owner was also incredibly friendly and we chatted with him while we enjoyed our meals. A sandwich so nice that I drove here twice, and we're talking nearly an hour drive just for a sandwich. Is it worth it? I believe so. Every penny. Today was my second visit, and they earned two new fans as my MiL and SiL joined my husband and I for lunch. Three of us ordered the classic kebab with different toppings, one had the wrap. We also had drinks and a basket of fries for the table. I almost regretted the fries because my sandwich was so filling! I ordered the classic kebab with all the veggies as well as the herb and garlic sauces. No cheese. It was quite literally a perfect sandwich. The fresh onions, cabbage, lettuce and tomato perfectly balanced the thinly sliced beef and sauces. I think next time I'll try the spicy sauce because I'm told it's not super spicy. The fries are just something else. I love the seasoning and they were nice and crispy while still fluffy in the center. Please don't skip on the fries, you will not regret it. The shop is quite unassuming from the outside, anchoring one end of a small strip that has a laundromat on the opposite end. But inside is clean and bright with plenty of seating. The staff are super friendly and excited to assist with any questions prior to ordering. The owner is also a genuinely great guy. I think we spoke with him for about 15 minutes about the shop and where we drove in from. How he got started. With someone so passionate, it's no wonder why people drive in from out of town to grab a sandwich. He literally loves making people happy with his food. Oh my goodness. This place is absolutely delicious. I'm very picky about my restaurants, and I will absolutely be returning here The spice blend in the döner is perfect, the fries are cooked absolutely perfectly. Getting the fries loaded adds so much amazing flavor, but they are still delicious without being loaded. I've been following Doner Kebab on social media since before they opened, but I don't make it out to Hartford often and hadn't tried them yet. When I finally found myself out that way I made sure to stop by. I ordered the Doner Wrap without tomato and onion and only the garlic and herb sauces of the three options they have (spicy being the third). I liked the wrap overall. It was well portioned and both the garlic and herb sauces specifically stood out. The cabbage and lettuce seemed a little redundant and had me wishing that I liked tomato just to mix up the textures. I do appreciate that they grill the wrap in a panini press. The menu is literally just the Classic Doner in a flatbread and the Doner Wrap that I had and both have pretty much the same ingredients (the classic doesn't have cheese), so it's a good thing they're good at what they do. The wrap by itself is $14.75 (as of 5/10/2023) which makes this a once in a great while thing and not something I'd go to Hartford for by itself. read more

We drove about half an hour just to try this place based on the fact that they appeared to be serving genuine German doner kebab sandwiches. We tried the Classic Doner sandwich, and the portion size was pretty good, though I don't know that I'd call it a $17 sandwich. The pita bread was soft yet had a nice crunch, and there was a generous amount of meat inside. We were disappointed that it didn't seem like the sandwiches had fresh shaved meat off of the rotisserie spit because the meat was a little dry. It could have used a little extra sauce; I'd asked for extra but I think they forgot -- the photos on the website show a lot more sauce than what you get. Some extra tomatoes and onions inside would have been a nice balance as well, in hindsight. The fries were really good and served with a side of cheese sauce. We took our sandwiches to go and ate at a nearby park; the restaurant interior doesn't have a ton of available seating and there was some ambient noise from the open kitchen that made it a little loud. Literally incredible. The staff was outstanding and the food was drool worthy. The staff, I assume the owner, explained all of the options to us. I got the classic doner as the pita is made in house. I've came here twice now and I have to admit, this is the closest I've had to the real thing in the US. The Döner's here are seasoned well, although I recommend getting light lettuce because otherwise they pile it on and it overpowers all other flavors. I ordered mine with the Knoblauch and Kräuter Sauce(garlic sauce and herb sauce). These sauces are delicious. They also have a Scharf sauce(spicy sauce) but there really isn't much spice to it at all. The owners are super friendly and accommodating. The place is also very clean which is a great thing to see. They have a drive through window, although everything is carved and made to order so it does take about 5 minutes for your order to be completed, but it's worth it! Having had doner kebab all over Germany, I was anxious to see what the Wisconsin version would be like. It was outstanding! The ingredients were incredibly fresh, the preparation expert, and the service prompt and friendly. Great Owners, Great Place. However $16 is alot to pay for the classic. The Lamb takes up 1/4 or so of the bread. The other half is the toppings.. seems like alot of money for not so much Lamb on the classic. I wonder if I go next time if I order extra meat if it is a $5 dollar upcharge to push the price up over $20 bucks.
