With all new Korean restaurants opening in the south OKC, I've gotten to try several new places but found myself coming back to Dong A. It's also been forever since my last review so I'm excited to update it! Dong A is a family owned small Korean restaurant tucked away on Eastern Ave, and it's truly a gem of a place. Unfortunately it seems like it doesn't have a lot of help/workers (one person taking orders/drinks, another bringing out food, and that's about it). But even so, the times I've visited lately, I never had any issues with service! The two ladies working the place were both very kind and attentive. And the food- still as delicious as before! I've tried a number of their dishes, and my favorites are the seafood pancake, the topokki, the chicken bulgogi, and some others. I tried the dolsot-bibimbap with squid at my last visit, which was delicious! Certainly give this gem a try if you're looking for authentic korean food! read more

Been here a few times in the past. Should go more often since it's just down the road from my house. Food here is amazing, feels like going to a mom and pop restaurant for sure. I always get the black bean noodles, I don't know why but it just so comforting to me. The Ban chan is made in the restaurant of course and comes with plenty. Service can be a bit slow but I don't mind it at all. I'll definitely come here again when ever I've got my Korean food cravings. read more

The food for the price point was disappointing flavor wise. I wasn't a fan of how their jjamppong (짬뽕) tasted or how their kimchi tasted. I was excited to try their jjamppong since I hadn't had it since I left S. Korea but left feeling unsatisfied. The waitress was friendly and consistently checked in to see how I was doing. Always a little bit conflicted when it comes to Dong A. Food is sometimes a hit or miss but thankfully this time everything was good. The restaurant is quite quaint but offers a "Korean home" atmosphere that is nostalgic. Service is where things start to fall apart. Every time a question is asked their response always has a little bit of an attitude. I try not to take it personal, but it doesn't help when this isn't the first time that I've been met with mediocre service here. To clarify, this doesn't happen all the time (I've been here throughout the years), but probably 6/10 times it does and that just leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Specifically this night, my friend and I were catching up and proceeded to be the only customers that were there both the longest and were the last ones left. We both planned to leave before they close, but the workers there beat us to the punch and asked "when we were going to leave" about 30 mins before their closing time. We didn't want to cause any trouble so we left. I often feel conflicted because I want to support the restaurant given that it is a small business and one of the only authentic Korean restaurants in Moore, Oklahoma, but what keeps me from coming back is often always their service. read more

It's been awhile since I've wrote a review! I just want to write a refreshing review for the year. Đông Á has been here for a hot minute and they are def consider a hole in the wall- mom and pop type style. When you dine in for have lunch or dinner, you get that homie feeling. It hits the spot. I always get the kimbap and to me, they have the best pork Bulgogi in OKC. b won and Korean house doesn't compare! I'm telling ya, they are one of the best korean home style meal in okc. (Except the one that shut down called taste or Korea- THAT WAS THE BEST BEST) Come through Đông Á thơ!! Friendly service. Make sure you order the Bulgogi and kimbap. You won't be disappointed. Not as good as last time we were here. Not very consistent, makes me wonder if it depends on who is in the kitchen. We had the seafood pancake, which was decent but instead of coming as appetizer it came out with our entrees. The japchae was overcooked so noodles were too soft (instead of al dente). To be honest, the food wasn't hitting the same. I'm not sure if they're switching up the recipe but the food lacked in flavor for me. The soybean soup DEF tasted like soybean... to the point where it was too overpowering. The kimbap got smaller and felt like they have less ingredients? The spicy pork was pretty fatty but otherwise had flavor. The kimchi pancake and mul bi nengmyun were bomb though. They honestly saved lunch. On the plus side, service has gotten so much better! Probably the best and most authentic Korean restaurant in the OKC metropolitan area due to the fact they may very likely be the only place that serves jjajangmyun (the Korean version of Chinese black bean sauce noodles) to my knowledge. They also have excellent kimbap (as well as gochujang sauce upon request), nice fried dumplings (or yaki-mandu) and great side dishes or banchan. The price was good and the food was good. The overall experience was bad. First: I had to ask for the Kimchi to be brought like an appetizer. She said they bring it with the meal. Second: I ordered 3 things, The Yaki Mandu never showed up so I asked about it when my meal was almost done. Dong A is a hidden gem in Moore, Oklahoma. It's a small and tiny mom and pop restaurant serving authentic Korean food. My favorite here is the Kim chi soup and the gimbap. They're very generous with the gimbap and you get two rolls and they taste like they're freshly made unlike at other places. The service is decent. When I ate here, my family and I were the only people here for the entire one hour and half. It's really strange how they're not busy but they stay open. I wondered if it's because of their other Korean competitor, Gangnam being open also in Moore. I really enjoyed the food here though and I think they have a lot of potential. I'd definitely come back if I'm ever in the area and is craving Korean food. read more

The restaurant did a great job with following social distance guidelines. Dinner was somewhat good for me, while the service could have been more attentive. I think my friend and I waited more than 30 minutes for dinner, and I waited a couple more minutes for my japchae. That is about the average wait time when dining in a Korean restaurant, but I feel like it is longer than others. The flavors are all there for my japchae, but I think they switched up the recipe because there are now yellow bell peppers in it, which is odd. I find that there were more onions and bell peppers than the glass noodles and beef. And the portion was smaller than other Korean restaurants. The kimchi stew was spicier than others as well, and there was not much tofu. Dong A used to be one of my favorite Korean restaurants, but I am not sure now. read more

I am on a low card diet. I asked upon arrival if a certain soup had noddles. Our very young appearing waitress did the right thing and said she did not know and went back to ask. She came back out of the kitchen, she said she was told the soup did not have noodles so I ordered it. When it arrived, it was half noodles and before I even took a bite. I pointed it out to the other serving person who I believe was management who basically acted like I was crazy because I didn't want noodles in a soup. I asked if there any other soup without noodles, she said there was and asked if I would like that instead and I said yes. When the bill came out, they charged for both soups and said they would not deduct the other soup. The young waitress tried to slip me money out of her own pocket to pay for the mistake which I actually do not feel was her mistake as she had gone back to the kitchen to ask. I certainly wasn't going to take this young teenagers money, but feel like it was extremely poor service on the side of the restaurant. I felt like the restaurant treated the waitress poorly and I paid $17 for a soup I didn't touch. I won't go back. read more

What an unpretentious little gem-mom & pop style Korean dining. You get a lot of bang for your buck here-gotta love that. They serve hot and delicious Korean food by cooks who really know their stuff and want you to have a great meal. A friend had recommended this place saying, "It's the best Korean food in the city." She's a vegetarian whose enjoyed this place for years. She was eager to share it with any Korean food lovers-I'm in. They have a big menu. It's filled with great banchan, appetizers, soups, fish, rice, stir fried, noodle, barbeque, and speciality dishes. They've got you covered whether you are a meat, fish, or veggie lover. They also have menu offerings which they cook right at your table. For those, you can chose from sliced pork belly or seasoned beef-those menu options are a bit higher in price and there is a minimum of 2 orders, per table. I haven't tried it yet, but it has peeked my interest. If you bring family or close friends you can order a lot and share, like at a barbecue-I'd definitely recommend "family style" dining here. Several menu item's that are pretty tasty: #Banchan (literally translates to "side dishes"): all the little Korean sides served to the table, kinda like the Korean version of chips & salsa: wow-sers; so good. They rotate so maybe ask if they have a rotation schedule or just drop in to be surprised! #The-Kimchi-Pajun: a Korean pancake appetizer: great because it is flavorful fried deliciousness. #deep-fried-potstickers: yum-plenty to share. #Kim-bab: a crab meat & veggie filled sushi roll: listed as an appetizer; 2 rolls; could easily be dinner for one; great as a shared option for the table, too; very refreshing. #Dot-Sot-Bibimbab: It's what I think of as a traditional Bibimbab: comes to the table hot and still cooking in the stone bowl filled w. hot & crispy rice, veggies & your choice of protein w. a fried egg on top. Come for the food-not the service. Our service was terrible, we never saw our server after the food was brought out, but the food was so good we kinda overlooked it. (I would have loved a refill on my water, several times, and another napkin, oh well.) My friend has had great experience with their service before-so maybe it was an off night. They are located in a strip mall facing the north. It's very easy to miss. We saw folks coming in to order take out, so if you live in the area, that might be a good option. They also have TVs in the dining room so you can catch the game, if your heart desires. I'd call ahead to be sure they get the channel, though. Moral of the story: eat great tasting Korean food here and bring your friends; I think everyone will like what they get. I love Korean food and it's really great how many different Korean restaurants are in the metro. I don't remember there being any Korean places where I really up. So it's a lot of fun trying new dishes and types of cuisines. I've been to Dong A a couple of times since moving here and I really like their food. The restaurant itself isn't much to look at. It's not modern or expensive. Just really good Korean food at a decent price. I usually order BBQ bulgogi chicken which is savory, sweet and a little spicy. Served on a sizzling skillet with all sorts of delicious Korean sides. Lots of kimchi! :D I'll definitely keep coming back! Was craving Korean food on the way back from an event and yelped the closest Korean restaurant to where I was. So glad to have stumbled upon this place. It is a gem, tucked in a shopping center. The food was delicious. I ordered the bibimbop, really tasty and also got the pancake. I love that they offer all the fermented small plates-kimchee, sprouts, etc. When my partner and I went in, we were the only people in the restaurant, it felt nice and cozy on a cold night. I hate doing this. But it was bad this time. I couldn't even finish my meal. And I hardly ever walk away from food....The squid was over cooked and had a off flavor to it. We also weren't discounted for it either, had to pay for the uneaten meal. All our waitress did was apologize for it. No offer to fix or anything like that. Arrived OKC and my daughter wanted to eat Korean food. We came and had Mul-Bibim nyung myun (watery spicy noodle?) and Yookejang. We are from California where the most variety Korean food out there. It was so tasteful and I almost felt like I want to eat more. Compare to LA, portion was smaller but price was similar. Side dishes were so good. I would definitely come back here again. Update: we went there second time before heading to CA. I had same cold watery spicy noodle, Kim-bop, and spice rice cake. Even with 2, we gobbled up. So good. read more

This time we wanted Korean food but we didn't want to drive all the way to Edmond. We did some research and found this place in Moore. We went in and we were warmly greeted by a lady who took us to a booth. We ordered the Pancake to start out and it was great. The flavor was really great. My husband got the Dolsot bibimbap. He said it was very good but the meat needed a touch more flavor. Maybe a marinade could have fixed this issue. I got the jap chae. It was good but it didn't have a lot of meat in it. On my end that is good because beef makes me upset but I'm sure most people want more meat in their food. We would definitely come back and try other dishes. This is the only Korean restaurant I'll eat in Oklahoma period since this is the only place that suits my taste buds. (Hehe!!) So the delicious food one must try here is 1. The naemgmyun aka cold noodle in some ice cold broth. The owner makes the broth herself and only she knows the recipe. I have been to Korea before and this recipe tops all of the cold noodle places I have been in. This is exceptionally good if you do the Korean bbq and eat it together with the pork belly. My husband introduced me to this and it is seriously heaven. Can also do the cold noodle plus the galbi combination!!! 2. The stews. The owner uses some sort of premade clear broth stock in all her soup and so that's why the stews here taste more intense then the ones you make at home. My husband loves the intestine soup while I love the bean paste soup! 3. The pork cutlet is also delicious. The sauce is all made by the owner as well. The pork cutlet is on the crunchier side which is what I prefer. 4. The seafood spicy noodles are one of my husbands favorite. This is a place we have wanted to go to for a while now. Last time we tried they were closed for a private event. Then COVID came and it took us a really long time to venture back out. I'm glad we did though. This place was great. They were practicing social distancing requirements. The employees wore masks and were very friendly and helpful. Best ddeokbokki I've ever eaten, and I've been to Seoul, Korea. I would have liked more rice cakes, since there seemed to be more fish cake than rice cake, but that's a small gripe. The flavor was actually strong enough (I've tried countless ddeokbokki from other places that water down their sauces), and the rice cakes were soft and not dried out/too chewy. Cheese was an extra $2, so I skipped on that. Can't wait to go back to try their bulgogi or bibim naengmyeon. read more

The food was terrible today. I need to come with my mom when coming here, because it always tastes wayyyyy better when she's around. This was the first time to go without her, what a mistake. Anyways, I advise you not to order the chicken teriyaki, because it does not taste anything close to chicken teriyaki. I have had much better chicken teriyaki at Subway. I ate 3 pieces of chicken and decided I couldn't eat anymore. The ban chan was OLD and most the items were inedible. My husband and I also split the yakimandu which was okay, I just ate that and took the chicken teriyaki home so I wouldn't look like a total rude person. Hopefully, my dog will eat it. My favorite Korean restaurant in Okc! Came here to eat with a friend for dinner and was sat quickly. I got their dol-sot bibimbap and my friend ordered chicken bulgolgi. Good portion and very flavorful. I love their side dishes especially their bean sprout, kimchi, and potato. Unfortunately they didn't have their sweet potato this time but they gave potato salad instead. Overall this place always hits the spot when I'm craving Korean. read more

We decided to try and new place with a couple of friends and we were Not disappointed. *This is the perfect place to eat with friends/family in a family style way* We started our with 2 appetizers: Kim-bab which is a korean roll similar to a sushi roll & the Topokki which was a little spicy for my tasting but the others really enjoyed it. My boyfriend & I also ordered the Yum Yum Bolgogi which is where we cooked the marinated meat ourselves and it was AMAZING. We HIGHLY reccomend this meal. We also ended up ordering two more meals to go with, we figured we should try as much as our watering mouths were willing to try.
