    New location!
    Samar R.

Brand new location. I ordered the brown stew chicken. Food was pretty good. Tasted even better when I had my leftovers at a later time. The prices are very reasonable! They amount of food they give is a great amount! Friendly staff. I believe Gail (as stated in receipt) took my order and she was very pleasant and full of energy. I'll return to try their other menu items. I have been to their other location on 441.

I really wanted to love Yarumba Restaurant & Lounge because the atmosphere is actually very nice…read more It's a great place to hang out with friends, enjoy a few drinks, and relax. Unfortunately, the service has been a huge disappointment the last two times I've visited. As you can see from my photo, the restaurant wasn't busy at all, so there really wasn't a reason for the delays. We sat at our table waiting for someone to take our order while our waitress continued helping other tables and never came to ours. It wasn't until I asked for our server that she finally came over to take our order. After that, we waited nearly 40 minutes for our food, and when it finally arrived, most of it was only semi-warm. The only dish that came out fresh and hot was the steak tostones, which were delicious. Everything else, including the other entrées and sides, was lukewarm and honestly disappointing. What makes this even more frustrating is that this wasn't my first experience like this. I had previously visited with a friend and received the same poor service and semi-cold food. I decided to give Yarumba another chance by coming back with my daughter, hoping the first visit had just been an off day. Sadly, nothing had changed. It seems like the staff spends more time talking amongst themselves than checking on customers or making sure food is coming out promptly. Good food and a fun atmosphere can only make up for so much when the service consistently falls short. At this point, I don't see myself coming back for dinner. If I do return, it would only be to sit at the bar for drinks. I truly hope management addresses these issues because the restaurant has a lot of potential.

She said a few words in patois to the other woman. Next thing I know the other woman started preparing all the sides in a carry out container and then goes to the back for the jerk wings. I didn't leave until 8 o'clock with my order. It wasn't worth the time that I waited. The rice and peas and cabbage were delicious. The wings were dried out, hard and tasted like barbecue chicken instead of jerk wings. I threw them in the trash. Don't even bother putting an order in before cause you're gonna wait anyway. Island Tings in Miramar definitely delivered if you're craving real Caribbean comfort food…read more I ordered the curry chicken and it was exactly what you want from a spot like this. The chicken was tender, well seasoned, and soaked in that rich curry sauce. It came piled over rice with veggies and potatoes mixed in, and the flavors were deep and authentic. You can tell it's the kind of food that's been cooked slow and done right. The portions were solid too definitely a filling meal. Perfect if you're hungry and want something hearty. The restaurant itself has a cool island vibe inside with the beach murals and bright colors that make it feel relaxed and laid-back. The setup is simple cafeteria style, so you move down the line and pick what you want, which keeps things moving. If you're in Miramar and want real Caribbean flavors without the fuss, this spot is worth the stop. Good portions, flavorful food, and a chill atmosphere.

At 3:07 PM, I called and spoke with a woman to place a pickup order: one fried fish and one oxtail with rice and peas and plantains. I was told plantains are not served until 5 PM, so I said that was fine and switched the side to steamed vegetables. She clarified it would be steamed cabbage, and I agreed. I then asked my father to pick up the food. He arrived at 3:39 PM, more than 30 minutes later, and the staff acted as though they had no idea what he was talking about. He called me asking if I had actually placed the order because they were telling him they didn't have it. I asked him to put me on speaker so I could speak with them. When I asked the woman why the order wasn't ready after being placed over 30 minutes earlier, she rudely replied, "Well you didn't talk to me. I don't answer phones." Excuse me? I don't know your internal process, but I do know I called and spoke with someone for about two minutes placing that order. I certainly didn't imagine it. I initially told my father to just leave, but since he was already there he asked them to make the order. I repeated the order to the woman and the call ended. I then called back and got the same woman again, as I recognized her voice. I explained the situation and she sighed deeply before saying, "Let me see because I'm here now." She put the phone down, I heard rummaging in the background, and then she came back and said, "He already placed the order." Ma'am, that was not what I asked. The question was why the order was never placed and ready for pickup when I called it in over 30 minutes earlier. Her response was simply, "Oh well I don't know, but the order is made now." At that point I told her I would be leaving a review. If I could leave zero stars for service, I would. The only reason this review is getting two star is because the food actually tastes good and they're a Caribbean restaurant. However, customer service matters. Being rude and dismissive when a customer politely asks about their order is completely unnecessary. A simple acknowledgment or accountability would have prevented this entire situation. My favorite Jamaican restaurant, Maam Jamaican Restaurant on Ives Dairy, closed and I was really sad about it. I also really miss the sweet oxtail flavor they used to have. I've been craving oxtails, and since they're closed and I wouldn't be cheating on them anymore, so I decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately, the seasoning wasn't too good on either dish, but the food was very fresh. Unfortunately, I will not be returning nor recommending this restaurant, and I will also be sharing this experience on other platforms.

I got there late in the afternoon so I understood why there was no more soup. Nevertheless, I was committed to trying to support this business and tried again on another day. I got the "manish water" soup aka goat soup. I got all the way back home and there was no meat in the soup. Bc I never had it before, I wondered if it were called man-ish bc maybe it seemed like goat soup but didn't actually have goat because my soup had no meat. I calmed and asked if it were a vegetarian option. The clerk said no and agreed to give me another soup. I told her o would be back in the area in a few hours and thanked her. When I got there, she was upset o did not bring the soup back with me. That's crazy alone. But even crazier... she went in the kitchen and came out with 2 pieces of "meat" in a cup. Disgusting service. Absolutely disgusting. They will NEVER see me again. That's not how you treat customers.
