I went in today, and Cynthia inspected the damage, told me to wait while it was being fixed ("no need to come back") and then insisted on not charging me "for being a loyal customer." Let me start by saying; I work in the service industry and have clients, I deliver good service and know it when I see it. Ace at Honda (Marina) recommended Don's Auto Body to service my Honda Element. In a "safe" parking garage downtown someone had smashed-in my whole passenger door (no, note left...bummer) As soon as I arrived at Don's I was greeted by a friendly man named Collin. He took a look at the damage and let me know he could possibly fix it without having to replace the door...I was stunned by his instant good news and, as a woman, I was relieved he wasn't thinking me green regarding re: auto service (which I am). He told me he would take it to the back and see what he could do, that I should go get a coffee and relax! This was a welcomed suggestion. Sure enough - 20 minutes later he returned with my car and the door was restored. The customer service there is STELLAR, the repair was brilliant. My car was stolen on Christmas in SF and then found by SFPD the next day after the perps had an apparent joy ride. Insurance helped and due to the holiday, it was tuesday before my car made it to Don's Auto body to be fixed. Don's Auto Body did a safety check and fixed the rear side window that the perps had broken to get in. The people at Don's were very accomodating to my predicament and to my emotional state. A few weeks ago, my Honda's back door was badly scratched, and I brought my car to SF Honda because Don's Auto Body Shop, via SF Honda, had done a great job on a previous repair on my car. Candice, an employee of Don's, there gave me a ballpark figure of how much it would cost to have the door replaced. Because my car was not a new one, and the damage was solely cosmetic, I was convinced that auto touch-up paint was the way to go. Candice spent two hours meticulously doing the touch-up work. The entire work, asides from the paint, cost me nothing! I was very happy about Don's service, and would come back if I needed another repair, structural or cosmetic. read more

I just joined Yelp to write about two businesses that have treated me well in the past couple of years. One of them was Don's Auto Body. My Toyota Highlander had a bit of damage and I was taking it to places for an estimate. As part of this process, I visited Don's and met Cynthia, who asked her people to do a little work immediately. They did so, and made the SUV look better immediately. I asked her what it cost and she said "nothing", to my astonishment. As it turns out, it was Cynthia had quickly seen the damage was minimal and mostly cosmetic. I was amazed, but it was clearly part of their business philosophy -- treat the customer right and he/she will be a convert and long-time customer. When I take my Mazda Miata in for some body work soon, it will definitely be to Don's Auto Body. I don't know about the other locations, but Phil at Don's on Clement is the absolute best. Since repairing my car (front end) two years ago after an accident, I've brought it in for service several times (and ended up not being charged!) when other shops (which will remain nameless) wanted to rip me off! Phil is courteous and professional, plus the business shares space with a mechanic, so you get one stop shopping. And to top it all off, Don's on Clement is two blocks from my house! They're most kind and considerate and such a beautiful office for a car repair place - nice rug, plants - very nice - two ladies working there - most friendly and hospitable. I first went in to get some paint for my car dings - not only did they take the time to go across the street to mix the paint for me but even started doing it for me didn't charge me - I call that going WAY beyond satisfied - oh, and then - I had been ogling this wonderful deck of SF Walking Cards as I need to do more walking - she offered for me to take it and would NOT accept money. I have lived over 20 years in this city and never met such nice, kind, generous & hospitable folks - most wonderful. When I returned to my parked Lexus LS430, I found the front fender and bumper had been hit and badly damaged in a hit-and-run parking lot collision. Both needed to be replaced, and there was also some damage to the suspension and steering. My LS430 is a very expensive car that has extremely low mileage and was in pristine physical and mechanical condition before it was hit. I wanted it restored to the same condition with absolutely no sign that it had been damaged and repaired. A trusted friend highly recommended Don's Auto Body in downtown San Francisco, and my Lexus service advisor and insurance company agreed. There is no shortage of body shops in the South Bay where I live, and some of these have excellent reputations, but I decided to have the work done at Don's. And I could not be happier that I did. The replacement parts fit perfectly and paint matches the rest of the car prefectly. There is no way you can tell that there was ever any damage. For me, Don's Auto Body is about 35 miles and an hour's driving time away, but I would recommend them to anyone -- they do superb work. read more

Last month a truck backed into me and damaged the grille on my Mercedes. AAA gave me several names and Don's was the most conveniently located. So glad I stopped by! Collin is so efficient - he said the grille would be in the next day and would take just minutes to pop in. When I returned, the grille was ready and after opening the hood for them, I sat behind the wheel and waited. When the install took longer than a few minutes, I got out of my car and saw Collin and Jeff both working below the car. When I asked what was going on, Jeff said while he was installing the grille, he found my fog light had been knocked out and was just hanging and the orange side reflector light had popped out. To my pleasant surprise, Jeff fixed both items and seemed happy to do it. I seriously doubt any other shop would have repaired it on their own initiative as Jeff and Collin did. Kudos to them for their high standards and providing great customer service. Highly recommend! read more

Our 2012 Toyota Corolla was only four months old when another automobile scraped her bumper on the right side and left a scuff mark. When we were servicing our vehicle at Toyota dealership for the 5,000 mile free service, we asked the service advisor "Moe" for recommendations. He recommended Don's Autobody, because they did an excellent job for some minor repair work on his vehicle! We called Don's Autobody and made a appointment at 2:30p.m. on the same day. Upon arrival we met Herman Jew, one of the estimator's who looked over our vehicle and made two recommendations. The 1st choice was about $1000.00 for a complete repair to OEM condition or the 2nd choice was to give him 15 minutes to buff out the scuff mark and use touch-up paint later. We opted for the 2nd choice and he did it free of charge! He said that when the touch-up paint comes in from the dealership, give him a call and he will help us apply the touch-up paint. I feel that the customer service "Herman Jew" exhibited on January 21, 2013 has excelled beyond my expectations! I would definitely recommend "Don's Autobody " because of their honesty and frankness when you come in. read more

They are always there for you even after hours to ensure your car is not only repaired excellent and earlier than expected but they extend their services to the rental car process as well. My rental car was waiting for me upon my arrival and upon my departure Don's Auto Body had a rep from the rental car service waiting to check in my rental car. Orlando and staff really did an excellent job from billing the insurance company, repairing the car, to renting and returning the rental car. The overall service is excellent.
