One of the best barbershop in Fremont. I tried Don's recently as there were no appointments available at my regular place. I was asked to walk in when I called them. It was David who helped me that. Very professional approach and detailed. He took time finish his work; felt like I was working with an artist. This place has got a different ambience and vibe. All the pictures, art works displayed and music played, make this a very interesting place. They have taken many precautions against Covid-19. My temperature was checked, given sanitizer even before I entered. Must wear mask during the cut as well. They have separated their working stations to minimize the contact with other customers. They have apple pay so that you can make contact-less payment as well. This is part of a big complex, but the parking is limited. I leveraged the Wells Fargo bank parking near by. The price is a little higher from the other barber shops. But I think their professional work justifies the pricing. Will go back there next time as well. Only thing, they take too long to cut (45-60 mins) and time management is poor (I waited for like 30 mins even though I had appointment). But cutting, trimming and everything - TOP NOTCH. The Dons Barber is a small but friendly environment with great barbers and hair stylists. The Don himself did my hair today and did an amazing job. First off I showed him a picture brought some promenade, he kindly made some suggestions, and once he cut my hair he took the time to comb it for me so that I knew which products to use and how it should be done. Although I think the spot is small, I go for the a great haircut and barbershop environment, dons spot can offer those things. This is why he deserves a 5. First time in, new to the area. When I walked in there were 3 barbers and 2 two cutting haircuts so I decided to wait, plus I saw the register had a debit card machine. I waited for 20 minutes while a female showed an old man how to cut hair, and the other barber almost finish up. When the younger male barber finished he cleaned his station and messed with the register for a minute without acknowledging me so I asked if he could cut my and he grabbed his doughnut and walked away. The woman explained he was hungry and would return shortly bit she would cut my hair in 10 more minutes. . . . I was sooo pissed I walked out, no haircut, no reason why couldn't cut my hair before his doughnut break. Never returning to this place. read more

I have been going there for my Child haircut. In called to get an appointment and got the appointment for Sunday. When I got there the told that they are not trained to cut child hair. Advised me to book an appointment with the lady. I waited and booked an appointment with the Lady for Monday 11:00, I called again half an hour before to confirm the appointment. I got there on time and found that they have taken another walk in customer and ask me to wait. I restated that I have made an appointment so she served me but rushed that appointment and ruin the hair by cutting them to short just so that she won't miss the other customer. I use to go to Alex's barbershop down the street but the line was always too long and they would slot 30 minute appointments for a 45 minute cut. So appointments were just a loose estimate. As much as I love the quality of cut from Alex's I couldnt get over waiting for a cut even when you make an appointment. I had to take my business elsewhere. I checked yelp for a nearby shop and found this place. Its not as busy, cheaper cut w/ the same quality. I've been coming here for about a year now and Juan is the man. I took my little cousin here to get a fresh cut this morning and we're both really happy about it! I called before hand because I wasn't sure if they took walk ins and they didn't. Even so, they were very accommodating and told us they had an opening an hour from then (11am.) Our barber was Thomas. He started by checking my cousins temperature. It was my little cousins first time ever getting a haircut by a professional so he was really anxious but Thomas made him feel so comfortable! He told me he really liked Thomas afterwards and that he cuts better than me which I don't mind. Will definitely throw away my clippers and take him back to Thomas instead. They also conversed about "games and stuff" which I really appreciate considering my cousin barely gets to talk to anyone bc of Quarantine! I've rarely been to a professional barber in USA. I'm an immigrant in USA and most of my 8 year stay here, I've been to great clips or super cuts. In other words, places where employees are treated as timestamps that check in and out and are paid an hourly wage. Anyways, I walk in here on MLK day 2020, since this was the only decent barber shop open in an area I recently moved to. I got an appointment for 2:15 and reached on time but I was waiting until 2:45 by the time I sat down to get my haircut. It was a long weekend and the barbers they had in shop were already serving prior customers, I'd be lying if I said, I wasn't pissed off a little bit about the wait. Around 2:45 Don walks in and settles down a bit and asks me if I'm next. I nod and sit down for the haircut. I show Don some pictures of a movie star in my country and I asked if my hair and beard can be styled that way. He affirms and about 30 mins later I walk out of the shop with the BEST HAIRCUT I ever got, period. The amount of detail that was taken care of with a straight razor on my face (even though it takes a lot of time to do so) is something I've never experienced before. He gives off a really good vibe, nice guy. Hands down I'd recommend this place to anyone if Don's the stylist. Looking at the end result, I'm not at all pissed about a bit of wait at the beginning. Went in today and got my haircut and beard trim done by Juan, really good haircut and Juan gave a lot of attention to detail which is awesome! I might have just found my new favorite barber in Fremont. This is a review for Tony. My boyfriend went in this morning and asked for a fade with a 2 on top. This is what he walked out with. The barber cut the top of his already short hair with scissors and didn't even bother to cut let alone fade the sides or back. Then he charged him $35 for the hair cut. $22 for the cut and $8 for "lining it up" which he didn't even do. Not sure why he was charged $35 instead of $30 according to Tony's prices. When he said it wasn't what he asked for Tony said he didn't want to make his skin show and that he just cleaned up the edges... waste of $35 and a couple hours of time. 10/10 do not recommend this barber shop.
