Rick's is a Fremont fav and he has the best old school barber shop. I was born and raised in Fremont and this is where I got my first official haircut as a kid. Many generations have come through Rick's and I think it should be considered a historical site or landmark of some type. read more

I take my son to Rick's because they do an amazing job. My son is pretty particular about how he likes his hair they always make sure he gets what he wants. He likes to get a lightning bolt and they never disappoint. Everyone who works here is friendly, the service is fast and done right. 3 strikes, I'm out. Their fades are mediocre at best. Their customer service is why I am writing this bad review. Its mainly just their 1 newest guy. I always get the same cut every 2 weeks but whenever I get the skinny guy with glasses, he tries to jip me. He hella rushes the cut and when I literally tell him "no razor" beforehand and he still charges me razor price then comes up with some excuse. What I find pretty funny, these barbers talk hella sht about their customers. I feel like I'm in a Vietnamese nail shop. My final draw was when I called in to ask what time they closing... Noon. I come in at 11:10 and this dude tell me, "we closing up bc it died down. you shouldve ran here faster"... I usually never write reviews, but just wanted this to be known. read more

After searching for another barber for my husband. We stumbled across this place. Due to the other barbers being booked. I wasn't really impressed and felt out of place. The gentleman Steve wasn't really up to par. He seemed like he was in a very big rush, in and out in 15 mins. I do not recommend this place, unless it's for a child or an older gentlemen who does not care about his hair style. I would suggust you look elsewhere and book in advance. Totally not worth the $40. Will definitely not be going back to this barbershop. read more

I hate to write a positive review because it just means waiting longer for my haircut - longer lines. If you want a stand out Flat Top haircut John is the man to see. I've been to barbers, stylists, Sport clips Ect all over California and VERY few can actually cut a true Flat Top. John can and does every time! Have had other barbers cut my hair at Rick's, I think they have five full time chairs, and they do a good job also. Good old school barber shop. Very busy on Saturday mornings - a good sign of a good shop. ****Update**** Still 5 stars.....but.... As I mentioned before this place is very busy on Saturdays. Expect to wait an hour. But I've noticed they are closing early on Saturdays. They are suppose to be open until 4:00PM. Closes repeatedly just after 3:00. They want to be done and out by 4:00, which doesn't help the customer who drives across town just to be turned away at 3:15. WEAK! They should change their business hours to 3:00 on Saturdays and everyone would be happy. read more

This is what a barber shop is supposed to feel & smell like. One of the few spots that still uses a razor. I've had all of the different barbers cut my hair, but Alex gets it right everytime. The shopping complex is undergoing some construction and opening up 2 new large retail businesses so the exterior aesthetics should improve in the near future. read more

Awesome razor fade My job makes me travel alot, and being that im not from the area and i get a haircut everyweek, finding a barber is really hard. I found these guys after dealing with a few "barbers" in town. Mikes really hooked it up. Chris and John are really good at razor fades, there really down to earth kinda guys and make good conversation while your getting fresh. The negative comments on Yelp about them kind of made me alittle uneasy, but i took the chance and glad that i did. Ill definitely come back when im in town again. read more

When I was younger, I used to go to a different barber shop every time I got a haircut. From 2006 to 2011, I grew my hair out without getting it trimmed once. In that amount of time, a good friend of mine by the name of Chris became a Barber here. He was the first person to cut my hair in 5 years. In addition, he was the one who cut my hair off properly in order for me to donate it to "Wigs For Kids". I've never gotten my hair cut by any of the other Barbers at Rick's but they're all very nice and they keep the shop clean. read more

This is an okay barbershop. With my experience here, their blending (fading/tapering) isn't great; they don't seem to be very meticulous about their cuts. On the plus side, they give quick cuts. So if you aren't very particular, or if you don't care about the fine details of your hair, this is a fine place to go. But if you notice every little single error, and that sort of stuff bothers you, then you might want to pass. read more

Friendly and great customer service. I went in to get a trim and was not sure exactly what I wanted. I suggested a couple things and John cut my hair on one side to the length I thought I wanted then showed it to me before continuing onto the next side. Old-School "Guys" barbershop... Located in a strip mall, with lots of old stuff on the walls, and ESPN on the TV. If you rock a close-cut style, this is the place to go, these guys cut hair with a high degree of precision, better than any other shop I've visited in the East Bay. Great attention to detail. I've been going to Ricks for a few years now and although I'm not a regular since I take my hair down to the skin most of the time, when I do show up, I'm never disappointed. Usually, I wait for Clayton to fade me up but everyone there is a professional. I've had fades by Cutty and Chris as well and never had any issues. Get there early, lines form fast. The barber I had was not very approachable, and I did not feel like my requests were respected (see some low star rating reviews that others made, I totally agree with them). In short, he got the job done, kinda rushing. Him aside, this is still a pretty decent barber shop to be frank. The gentlemen who took care of me when i walked in was super nice and friendly, and other barbers seemed to have good relationship with their customers too. For me, I gave this a try as they take walk-in, and the barber I usually go to is fully booked for the entire week. But after today's experience, I surely will not come back again. read more

Came in for a shave, and they lined me up really nice. This place is old school, like something out of a cowboy movie... the cash register looks like something from the 19th century. Definitely a "guys" barber shop. Unfortunately located in a dying shopping complex, Rick's is a real diamond in the rough. I'll be going back next time I need to get lined up. read more

Steve and the guys alway give my boys an awesome cut. They both have cowlicks all over their heads but Steve knows how to cut, style and blend them in. We have been going there for over 5 years and will happily wait 2 hours to have Steve cut their hair. We moved to Dublin almost 2 years ago but we still travel to Fremont to have Steve hook them up. These guys are the best. They are great at what they do and they make you feel right at home. Barbershops don't get much better than this. read more
