We made reservations on a Saturday night based off of instagram reviews of hot spots to eat in the city. We are from Houston so our food scene is pretty elite. We enjoyed Dons, the drinks were great. I had the tequila mockingbird and my husband had whatever whiskey cocktail they had. The food was good but we thought a bit overpriced. The crab cake was our favorite. Our service was mediocre at best, the server we had in the beginning didn't deliver any portion of our food, and maybe checked in on us one time other than to order a second round of drinks. It took about fifteen minutes after we finished eating to be able to ask for our check. Maybe she was busy? I'm not sure. Also very weird but they didn't have beer. We noticed it wasn't a big beer town but to not have any beer options at all was different.

Dons was amazing! I had to see for myself what all the talk is about:) We started out by giving our password for entrance into the restaurant behind the bookcase (pretty cool), then started off with the Smoked Honey Biscuits, they came with a "candle" of honey butter, OMG they were so tasty! We all ordered something different in order to try more menu items. Salmon was perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful, the Catfish with grits I loved, the coating was light, and not greasy, Burnt ends flavorful, could have used slightly more sauce, but tasty and the burger was ground from NY Strip, omg best burger I ever had, perfect med temp and huge! The Gouda cheese was a nice added touch. Service was great, our server very attentive but didn't hover. There is a nice ambiance with comfortable seating and not loud.. Be sure to make reservations, as seating is limited.

My cousins and I stumbled into Don's (quite literally) after an awesome dinner at the Vault for a night cap. To be honest, using Apple Maps it brought us to a seemingly dead end, appearingly closed restaurant space but that's the fun part. Lol After wandering around aimlessly like helpless non-locals, an employee beckoned us into the speakeasy entrance. Don's was exactly what we were looking for, small, intimate space with impeccable vibes (and sounds). The art on the walls definitely a highlight. Drink and dessert menus were exactly what we wanted, something for everyone. All in all, a great find in historic Hot Springs! Also, Honey Love and John Dough desserts were delicious 5/5!

We had been looking forward to eating here for many months and finally had an opportunity. Reservation for 2 at 7pm bar seating. Waited 5 minutes or so to be seated, very cool entrance. Seated and server took drink orders- limited choice Of alcohols - hubby order an old fashioned- bar tender said the only bourbon was legend after he searched- I ordered a lucky lavender. Both were good, not great- we ordered our food in about 10 minutes when they finally took our order, we ordered the biscuits and went ahead and ordered entrees at the same time- venison meatloaf and the burger- she said the chef recommended it medium and I agreed. Biscuits came out in a few minutes- biscuits were good, fluffy and warm. We sat there nursing our drinks and only finished 1/2 a biscuit each- after an hour the bartender noticed we had not ever received our food. Our server did not check again- we told him( the bartender that we were ready to just pay for our drinks and biscuits and leave. He did try to check on the food and apologized and said it was still going to be a long wait We paid our tab, we're never offered the opportunity to take the biscuits that were left. I had observed 3 other couples at the bar have theirs boxed to go without having to ask. Needless to say we left with no plans to return. The male bartender walked us out and apologized and said if you do ever decide to come back- I will pay for your food. He was very nice. A few other observations: [[HIGHLIGHT]]The servers were using a torch to smoke drinks at the end of the bar- with sparks flying everywhere and less than 2 feet away from a gentleman eating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]One bathroom of two did not have a functioning toilet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The swinging doors to left of the bar broke while we were there- the bottom hinge came out of the wall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They do not serve beer, we're out of 3 wines and out of tea and the New York strip when we arrived. The menu looked great and we sadly will not be reviewing the food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is very nice- great vibes- just needed a couple of quick fixes to door, toilet, ceiling board.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was no service recovery by a manager- no apology, nothing but an embarrassed bartender- who was busy mixing drinks with his limited inventory. Yes, we tipped and the total was 64.67 for 2 drinks and what amounted to 1 biscuit with butter and an hour and a half of our Saturday night.

I don't even know where to start with this one. We've been coming to Hot Springs for 8 years, we have had some decent dining experiences but nothing that tops DONS. This establishment is a speakeasy and an outstanding one at that. Not only was the presentation phenomenal but the food ...DELIVERED!!. The prices were amazing and portions were large. Music and atmosphere was vibing. We had the pleasure of sitting in their private dining room which was an intimate experience. We couldn't choose on the appetizers so we ordered all of them. Our favorite appetizers in order, the pork belly, fish sticks, biscuits, deviled egg and crab cakes. Favorite entrees was KFC and the burger. The alcoholic beverages were also amazing and strong. We exited the restaurant through an iconic British red phone booth. Touché to the chef and Jaylene.

This was a fine discovery thanks to Yelp. Where to eat in Hot Springs? A town I've never visited before. Yelp had the answer. Photos and review of this recently opened "new Southern" style restaurant were promising. You arrive to an empty looking storefront that doesn't appear to be a restaurant. You are then escorted behind a revolving bookcase to the main dining room, like a speakeasy and you're an invited guest. I sat at the bar while the bartender was working on a smoked beverage. I'll have one of those please, a smoked Old Fashioned. My entree choice, duck, wasn't available but I had a tasty slab of pork belly with some grits and black eyed peas. I've had this style of new southern cuisine in Charleston, Nashville and Atlanta and it was nice to find it on my trip to Hot Springs. Alas, my dessert choice was also not available, but that siding detract from a generally excellent experience.

What an experience! I wont give away the details but we had a fantastic dinner with an awesome server (shout out to Jen) and would love to live closer to be able to go back. Highly recommend!

Had a great dinner. The experience was wonderful. The place was so nice and we enjoyed the art and decor. We had a try both the biscuits w/butter candle and the pork belly. OMG I wish I could cook grits that good. My husband had the steak and I had the salmon. Both very good. The presentation on the campfire pie was too sweet. Our waitress was the best. She made suggestions and was attentive and so sweet. It was such a good night.

Came to DONS Southern Social as a group and overall had a very lovely experience. TIP: Make a reservation. They were turning people away who did not have them. Do not enter through the phone booth. The entrance is through the gallery on Central. Pros: Overall a very fun experience and vibe. It was fun to walk in through the bookshelf. The restaurant has lovely decor and the tables are suspended from the ceiling which is neat. The servers were very attentive and kind. We were checked on often throughout our dining experience. Also my friend had her 10 month old and they made her a special purée for the baby which I thought was so kind and attentive. The highlight of our trip was the desserts! We got the pie flight and it was divine!! I would highly recommend it also I just loved the window used to present the dessert. Cons: I will say I was not wowed by the food. I expected higher prices due to the upscale dining but I did not really feel like the price point matched the quality of the food. We got the fried green tomatoes, pink cake (salmon), and deviled eggs. I felt they were just okay. I think for the price point I was expecting very flavorful and unique dishes. They were presented well but overall I felt they were just okay. Overall, I would return again and enjoyed my time.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars!! Don't waste your time going to any other "fine dining" in Hot Springs. DONS is what you're looking for. My finance and I got engaged in Hot Springs and decided to celebrate with a nice dinner and chose DONS. I'm so glad we did. The food was top tier, service was individualized and personal, menu was creative, and the drinks were superb as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We also loved the hidden/password-needed aspect upon entry.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the biscuits, Brussels sprouts, The Silent G lasagna, the burger, and the lemon cheesecake. All of these were AMAZING, but what really stood out to us was the Brussels, the burger, and the cheesecake. I have never had better food in my life. Even my culinary finance sang DONS praises.

To be honest it was a let down ... we were seated outside on the patio, next to a very busy street with lots of noise. We ordered four "tid bits", pork belly burnt ends were the best of the four and were very good. The fried Brussels, came out barely warm at all. The fish and chips is a salmon dip with cornbread "chips", it was ok, the crab cake however barely had a crunch on the top and was just mushy. Was just disappointing for my birthday dinner... especially when locals had hyped it up so much. Sorry the photos were an afterthought once we were done

The restaurant itself is located in a historic brewhouse. With all of that being said... you can certainly expect a wait, especially during peak hours. For our party of three at about 11 on a weekday during the middle of spring break, it was about an hour wait. Thankfully, it wasn't too big of a problem. We still had some parts of Bathhouse Row that we had to explore. When there was a spot available, we got the notification through text. We headed on over. We were seated at a table right behind the host. It was shared with another pair but there was enough room so it wasn't too much of a problem. Usually, we don't drink. However, because of the uniqueness of this place, we just had to try. We aren't built for the Beer Bath that allows you to sample all 18 beers on tap. Instead, we opted for the flight which was more than enough for us. I'll be honest... I can't tell the difference at all between the different beers. Nevertheless, that speaks more to my inexperienced beer palate. The four taps that we got were all tasty and lasted us through the meal. For starter, we got the fried cauliflower. Crispy exterior that made our daily veggie intake that much more delicious. Paired very well with ranch. For main, I got Rose's Burger. The bacon jam provided a good amount of sweetness that was balanced by some of the spice from the pepperjack cheese and the savoriness of the burger itself. My mom got the reuben sandwhich. It was standard. My dad got the steak sandwich - it's basically a philly cheese. I thought it was particularly good especially since they use beer cheese made in-house. In terms of serivce, I will say that it was slow at times. However, as mentioned, this place is incredibly busy so definitely gotta give them some grace. In the future, I'd definitely come back again given the quality and uniqueness of Superior Bathhouse
