I ordered a espresso and a mango croissant . The espresso tasted like regular coffee just strong and the croissant was doughy like pills berry dough ..... I was completely disappointed 7$ . I threw my coffee and croissant in the trash. If you want the best chocolate devils food donuts, go here on Fridays! I've been going here all my life and idk why I haven't posted a review yet. Honestly guys, all their donuts are seriously so exceptional. Their donuts have a crisp crunch to them which tells me they use fresh oil. The flavors (vanilla, cake donut, chocolate or whatever) are better than the other donut shops you've been to. Those ones more or less all taste the same, and I always end up coming back here. These really do taste better, especially the devils food! Also, their donuts are currently $1.50 a piece. This is one of the best donut shops in OC if not the US. It's longtime family owned with fast and super friendly service. They have a large assortment of donuts and other pastry items that will satisfy anyone's tastes. One of the best things to do is go their early Saturday morning, from 6-8, and walk among all the classic cars that show up for cars and donuts. Many of the cars and trucks are rare treasures and the owners are happy to chat with anyone about their classics. I usually grab one or two donuts and a coffee then walk the parking lot over the next hour. It harkens back to the early days and you get a sense of nostalgia missing in today's hustle and bustle technology centric world. Donut Derelicts is a funny name until you stop in on a Sunday morning and see the reasons why. We just came off a redeye flight from Hawaii and we heard a rumor that this place has Malasadas. So we took a long detour on the way home to find this place only to find that parking in front is a challenge. Don't get me wrong, I love late model cars and customized cars and old guys like me sitting at tables and talk story. So we wait in line and I'm glad to see that there were at least four youngsters helping at the from counter. The gentleman in front of us turned away unhappy because they did not have any "old fashioned " . Soon it was our turn and the missus ask if they had any Malasadas. The look on the young lady helping us was precious...she never heard of it so my wife started to explain...no matter, we got a lemon filled each and a cinnamon bun to go. Wow, she said it was $5:45 and we looked each other as if to say ..ill give up my lemon filled. The young lady apologized, and recounted and tally came to $4:45...we will still be looking for the place that makes Malasadas in Huntington Beach, and pass on Donut Derelicts. read more

I've enjoyed standing in the long line out front every Saturday between 6am and 9am. Derelicts is the hot rod term for friends that appreciate their cars and chick's above all else. I personally have placed photos on the bare shop walls I was accepted in to the donut derelicts by their photographer back in 1990 he and I became fast friends taking pictures every week I moved away in1997.
