Came here for ice cream. The place is so cute with rubber ducks on shelves for kids to play with. The staff is friendly and encouraged us to try samples. They had an extensive menu and all their flavors are creative. We ended up with a scoop of exhausted parent and a scoop of smore to love. Exhausted Parent- This was quite an adventure! It has a base of bourbon spiked espresso ice cream that will wake you up. The rich flavor was enhanced with chocolate chips. This place is a true 4.5 star place. I decided to try to find a donut shop on my way to work so I could bring it in for national donut day. I found out that duck donuts is running a promotion for six dollars for six cinnamon sugar donuts. I thought perfect. I had two minutes to run and grab my donuts and head out. Little did I know, donuts are made to order. Giada hooked it up, knowing I was in a rush and with sugar and cinnamon coat my donuts as they were coming out out of the fryer. After letting all my clients grab their donuts, I ended up taking one home to work to share with my husband. We both agreed that re-frying it in the air fryer to warm it back up makes it perfect. I haven't had these donuts in years! This place originated from my home state of North Carolina, so I'm no stranger to this place. I forgot how good these donuts are!! I've been to other locations and had no idea there was one right around the corner from my doctors apt. Decided to treat myself lol. It's all made to order. When I came there was no line, but I can see if you're pressed for time this being an issue during peak hours. Husband offered to take daughter to Duck Donuts as we were nearby. Since he offered of course she took him up on his offer as she had not had breakfast having an early appointment. There was no one as we entered, but a young lady came out to the cashier ready to take our order. We walked into Duck Donuts expecting a pleasant experience, but were immediately met with awkwardness. The store was empty, yet the cashier--a young woman with a ginger ponytail--didn't greet us or even acknowledge us when we walked in. It felt uncomfortable right from the start. My boyfriend tried to order a donut and was met with a curt "Anything else?" that sounded more annoyed than helpful. I added my donut order, and then he asked what kinds of lemonades they had. Instead of simply answering, she dismissed him with, "It's right here," pointing instead of engaging. She also had AirPods in the whole time, which made her seem even more uninterested in interacting. There was no "Hi," no "Thank you," no effort to make the experience welcoming. My boyfriend and I exchanged looks because we both felt how off-putting her attitude was. For a place that seems to pride itself on custom, made-to-order treats, the vibe was completely lacking. First of all I apologize for no photos...I can never snap a photo before I eat one :/ I was introduced to Duck Donuts in 2019 or so when I went with my best friend, the one out in Rancho Cucamonga. I live in Cypress now since 2021 and was not able to find a Duck Donuts until I want to say early 2023 (when I was pregnant and craving sweets...particularly Duck Donuts lol). I found the Huntington Beach location due to it being the closest one in between my work and home, so I went in. It wasn't too busy, but the set-up was nice and the staff was very nice. I ended up becoming a more frequent customer this year around March when my now 1 1/2 year old daughter had swim classes at the Big Blue, which I did not see last time I was here at the Duck Donuts (I see a lot of the families come to Duck Donut after their classes). I totally forgot it was in that location, and now I go in pretty frequently. Barbee is absolutely amazing and could definitely use help because she is always bustin her booty taking orders, making deliciously sweet donut art, and being absolutely kind funny and friendly (not that she NEEDS the help because she is a total powerhouse, bless her, but it would definitely help her out). My wife and I have been going here for a while. We get some deals and get really good donuts. However, today was very peculiar. I checked the website and yelp to see what time it opens and it said it opened at 6:30 a.m. When I arrived at 7:00 a.m. this Sunday morning August 6th the store was still closed. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I l waited till about 8:00 a.m. for them to open. They arrived at 7:56 a.m. I walked in and I sat down then asked them if I could order donuts. They needed time to prepare which I understand. I asked him how long would it take 30 minutes an hour and the manager said in a hurried tone that we're not serving donuts now. She didn't give me a definitive answer to my question of how long it would take to begin ordering donuts, and she looked very disheveled and stressed out because they opened so late. I didn't have time to argue with her because I needed to get vegan donuts for my niece and head over to San Diego. She said that she could take drink orders but I didn't wake up early to get drinks. I was supposed get donuts early. Due to all of this, I decided just to go to donuttery which had hundreds of donuts ready to go and I could have went there earlier to get what I needed. I believe they're open 24/7. And I'm grateful that I chose donuttery because they had a better selection; plus, they have been my go-to for a long time. Hey duck donuts!
