I know this is going to raise the controversy of Mrs Murphy's vs everyone else, but honestly, these donuts are my childhood wrapped up in paper and thin cardboard boxes. This place was hoppin'! Friday morning at 8:30 am and it was tough to get a parking spot! Every town needs a place like Donut Dip. I love seeing places like this along the road when I stay in smaller towns or when I'm just driving through. I stayed at a motel across the street but only stopped in here once - that could be a very good thing or a very bad thing, depending on your point of view. The one star is strictly for the service! I'm actually quite appalled by the whole experience. As parents traveling with two young children, we were greeted by everyone from museums to shops. While I don't expect everyone to be hospitable, it was just a complete different level here. We walked in on an late Monday morning. Originally, we were planning to get a late breakfast at IHOP nearby. The wait was ridiculously long so we opt for quick bite since it was nearby in the area. Upon entering the shop, it reminds me of a retro mom and pop shop. An old school place. Ones that you read from Archie comics or see from old vintage movies. We were looking around to see which type of donuts to get. A few ppl were ahead of us. Then, a lady with a larger frame asked if we need help when the line cleared. Hub told her, we were getting 1/2 dozen of donuts. She quickly informed us the creme filled are special pricing so it will cost more. Not that we had any issue with it. Two other ladies (both were in the late 30's-50's, one with blond pony tail and other brunette) joined the lady helping us. They threw each other side glances and smirks. The one helping us then rolled her eyes when Hub was selecting the donuts. They all engage in a childish behavior that just emerged out of nowhere. The one with the blond ponytail continued those side glances until she caught me looking at her. I watch all of this while holding my 2 yr old son. She then walked away with the other worker while muttering on the other end of the counter. Once we were done, the lady had an annoyed look and rudely asked, is there anything else?!! When we were leaving, I made sure to say out loud with sarcasm, "They sure make you feel welcome here!" I have to point out that the majority of the area is Caucasian. Not sure if they get visits from other minorities (aside from Latinos, African-Americans/Blacks, etc that we've encountered in the area) to this part in town. It's definitely not as diverse as Boston. The looks and stares were extremely cringe worthy and uncomfortable. It's like walking in a 1940's movie set when Asians encountered racism.Myself and Hub are both first-generation native New Yorkers. Our kids are 2nd generation. All of us are born and raised in the USA!! It is now the year 2020! It is beyond sad, as a minority, we still encounter these experiences. It's crazy how some communities and small towns are still still living in a rock and refuses to get out and embrace the world more. The donuts on the other hand was fresh and good. Unfortunately, it doesn't make up for the hostile experience here. Will not be returning for "racist" donuts. read more

Donut Dip's confections are lightly fried, non-greasy, non-goopy with their application of glaze, and aren't heavy-sitting in the stomach. Situated in a cute little shop reminiscent of the 1950s, Donut Dip has that family feel that makes you love the atmosphere as much as the donuts themselves. We were greeted by a friendly woman behind the counter and she helped us decide on which type of donuts we should order. I chose a classic sour cream donut. It was crisp on the outside and perfectly moist on the inside. Other members of my party tried a Boston Cream and a jelly donut and everyone agreed they were delicious. The nice woman also helped me choose a coffee to go. My son asked for ice water and she gave it to him to go. Be aware, I did not notice any place to sit down. We stood at the counter. The Donut Dip Bakery is an OLD SCHOOL Bakery. They just don't make em like this any more. I have yet to have a bad experience at this establishment. I even chatted with the owner a couple of years ago. It smells great when you walk in and folks just wait their turn. And everything is delicious. They even have (&will hold for me if I call ahead) Meltaways. This is a breakfast Danish I have only found in a bakery on Cape Cod.. This is one of the better donut places that I've been to.... and I've had a donut or two. Everything I tried was great. None of the donuts had that burning aftertaste that you get from chain places. Went here a few weeks ago when we were in the area. Saw them near our hotel and then checked them out on-line and decided to give them a try. Should have listed to the other reviewers. The two filled ones we got, apple spice and jelly were lacking in filling. Honestly, I didn't taste the filling until the final bite. The apple was spice was dry because it was missing the apple spice. The sugar jelly stick was less dry but still disappointing because it lacked the jelly. We tried one maple frosted and one chocolate frosted and were disappointed on both accounts. The glaze was much too sweet for our liking. We also tried a blueberry, which was dry as well. We tried the apple cider which was ok, one of the better ones but still dry. A coconut donut was pretty good, not as dry and the red velvet was quite good. The sour cream was alright as well. We also tried the butter crunch which was decent. I cannot recall the one final flavor but we agreed it was rather disappointing. It's a shame because they are liked by many.
