Yum, perfect donut place. Cool signs, nice people, lots of flavors and most importantly, well made donuts. I had called early cuz I wasn't sure if this was one of those places that sell out quickly and wanted them to save a couple since we were driving from Boston, but they had plenty. They also accommodated my request for maple frosting on an old fashioned (theirs is usually on a raised) and that was great. Also tried a New England spice which was similar to a cider donut and friend's honey cruller was good. Would love to live closer to them. read more

I like Donut Dip better than Dunkin' Donuts!!!! Every Friday at the apartment complex, they offer free coffee, donuts, and muffins. They buy the donuts from Donut Dip and these are the donuts I prefer. They are light, airy, fluffy and very fresh. The donuts have a less manufactured look (meaning they don't all look the same). I like that each donut looks slightly different, so a human made them and not a machine! My favorites are the sugar donut, glazed donut, and the crumb cake donut. This is the best doughnut shop in New England! They many times have a long line, but the employees manage it well. They make sure you have the correct order with a short wait even when it is busy. The freshness and taste of the doughnuts is superb. The variety of doughnuts and pastries is phenomenal. When I want to treat my co workers, I bring a dozen doughnuts from Doughnut Dip. Stopped by real quick cause I was having a huge donut craving, and I got something of a coffee cake donut. it was around $1.50, which I thought was fair. The taste of the donut was better than Dunkin's, but it wasn't as moist and soft as I would've liked it to have been. At least the crust's appearance stayed true. It was crunchy, and had a crumbly texture to it which I liked. Overall, it was a tasty donut but would have to try something else in order to give this a higher rating. read more

We stopped here on a road trip to Montreal because of the good review (and my addiction to donuts, let's be real). Service was patient as we picked donuts and helpful with questions. No issues there at all! We tried the lemon-filled, honey dip, and spiced apple cider. The traditional glazed donuts both honey dip and the filled were so soft and had a good give under the teeth. They were delectable. The drier variety of the Apple cider wasn't as impressive. The lemon filling was light in flavor, not too tarts or sour (which I might have preferred) but for the average consumer I'd say it was just right. The place looked really nostalgic so we were excited to try it. When we arrived it wasn't real busy and it was our first time there so we were not sure what we wanted to order. The girl waiting is us was very impatient, and border line ruse so we tried to hurry but felt really rushed even though it wasn't very busy. That alone was very off putting especially to my teenage daughter who was the one that was undecided on what she wanted. We don't live in the area, but pretty much every time we're on the Mass Pike we make it a point to get off at exit 4 and get donuts. It looks like a donut shop. It smells like a donut shop. The staff is friendly. It's a good donut-eating atmosphere. The coffee is hot and the donuts are always very, very good. I think I've personally had all the staples at least once. They've been around for a long time in West Springfield. If I want a really good doughnut, I'll go there because I know it's been made in the back room and not at another location and brought there. Was driving by Donut Dip and saw beautiful poster featuring Seasonal Specialties. My attention was caught by two words "Maple Bacon". I turned in and bought one and was SO glad I did. A dozen donuts, an apple fritter the size of my head, and two small (but if these were small, I can't imagine how big the large is) iced coffees topped out at just over $14. Great service too. Food: 3.5 Service: 4 Considering the high star rating, I was expecting the doughnuts to be out-of-this-world-mind-blowing-deliciousness. They were good, but nothing special. The Chocolate Glazed doughnuts reminded me of the ones that were sold at the large supermarkets chains in DC (Giant, Shoppers, etc). We also ordered the two recommended flavors: Apple Cider and Sour Cream Apple Cider had a slightly dry, outer cake coating, and only a little bit more moist in the middle. The apple cider flavor was very subtle, and barely a hint of cinnamon. Sour Cream, upon initial bite, tasted like a normal vanilla cake doughnut. However, there was a peculiar sour cream after taste left on your tongue. Although this place is a small step above the many Dunkin Donuts franchises around the area, I will be looking for other doughnut shops to try instead. read more

Coffee and donut to finish the airport run. Arrive at the airport on a sugar high and feeling yumminess inside. Love this place. Authentic. Unpretentious. We have fancy donut shops in Washington DC charging $2-3 for a doughnut, and they are delicious, but not significantly more delicious than Donut Dip. I love how I arrive at 5 AM and the lady behind the counter is frosting donuts in the back, then comes out to serve me. I love that you see the bakers work. I love the 1940's vibe of the place.
