If you're staying at the Sheraton or really anywhere in Springfield this is a wonderful lunch spot. There is a large selection of fresh made (hot/cold) sandwiches and salads, as well as daily made soups. I had the New Yorker (basic pastrami on rye) and it was tender and toasted perfectly. I also had a cup of their Turkey and Stuffing soup as recommended by the gentleman tending the register. Wow, it was awesome and unique. To finish it up, they have gigantic house made cookies that are freakin delicious. The staff is very friendly and go beyond just enough to enhance the value. Hidden Gem! I highly recommend Cornerstone Cafe. Came in for breakfast and found one of my new new favorite breakfast spots. The owners are very nice and took the extra time to talk to me. Mom and pop restaurants help support locals! Dilly Breakfast Sandwich was amazing. It's a toasted buttered Croissant, spread with lemon dill mayo, layered with an over-hard egg, smoked applewood bacon and melted dill havarti cheese. The Cornerstone's signature lemon dill Mayo is what makes this breakfast sandwich over the top. Just the right amount to add and extra creamy taste. The coffee was on point and the right temperature. Walked in at 11:20 (it was a little tricky to find in general), and according to the website and menu, you could order breakfast until 11:30. As I walked up the counter, just to be polite, I asked the man at the register and he smiled and said no. I then asked why did the website say 11:30 and he looked shocked and only responded "we usually do". And that was it. Placing an 8 person order over the phone proved to be a difficulty. John was very rude over the phone and made sure to let me know I was making things very complicated for him by ordering over the phone. The only reason I called to order was because the website did not allow me to request extra chicken. I wanted to make sure I was charged for the extra chicken since it's only fair. It would've been better if he would've asked me to call back instead of being hostile via phone. It's really a shame because the food was amazing. I'd rather eat at another cafe that isn't as good as this one, instead of ordering here again. Terrible service but amazing food. I guess we can't have it all! read more

As an airline crew at the Sheraton next door I was just looking for a quick sandwich before our departure. I ordered the blue cheese roast beef on ciabatta bread. This sandwich is seriously in the top 5 sandwiches I've had. The roast beef is plentiful, the bread toasted, and the blue cheese spread is mouthwatering! I will be back on my next layover! Didn't expect much from a deli inside a random building but boy was I wrong. This was one of the most amazing sandwiches I've ever had??? And I eat a lot of sandwiches. Got the hot turkey club and it was stacked high with turkey and bacon. Absolutely incredible! My friend got the hot chicken and Brie and couldn't stop raving about it. I will 1000% be back. This small place does a ton of business. It doesn't look like much but the food is delicious and the people are friendly . I have tried a few of the sandwiches and a salad and it all met my expectations. If you want a filling salad I definitely recommend the nine to five salad. Want a tasty and unique sandwich ? I was here on Friday waiting to enter the MassMutual Center for the Bay Path College Women's conference. My co-worker and I needed a cup of strong Joe and had no car because we were dropped off by a shuttle van. Since it was before seven in the morning, there were very little options in downtown Springfield. Many places did not open until seven. Luckily, I knew that the hotel cafes nearby would be open so we walked a couple of blocks and stumbled upon this cute place. A-HA! Best part, they served Starbucks!!!! Can't go wrong with Starbucks! I liked the self-served portion. The guy working at the counter was even very nice! There were little chairs and tables outside; making the coffee stop experience very pleasant. read more

The coffee is the best in downtown Springfield. That being said, some of the staff (John) are very customer friendly and many are not, so I can't really give them a very good customer service rating. The woman taking the sandwich orders in the morning is a poor listener and frequently gets the orders wrong. In three sandwich orders, all three were incorrect. That being said, the ingredients are very high quality. They just can't seem to get simple orders right, which is very disappointing given the quality of the ingredients. If you just want a coffee and a muffin, definitely the place in downtown Springfield to go. read more

What a wonderful hidden gem!!! Having to stay at the Sheraton Hotel for an extended stay, Cornerstone has been an awesome addition to my meals. They serve a breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, cheese, oversized english muffin) at a very reasonable price. There muffins are great, and the menu has many more extensive items, I just have not had the opportunity to try at this point. The lunches are also reasonable. We have been getting a half sandwich and chips. The tuna, turkey, and roast beef are all great choices. With both breakfast or lunch, and buying a beverage, the prices for 2 haven't been above $15, which is a steal here in downtown Springfield. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Tucked away in the lobby of Monarch Place basically under the escalator, I got lost the first time. *Extensive menu; if you can't find something you like, you are clearly the most picky eater ever; go back to eating Kraft Mac and Cheese *Generous portions, fair prices. Different than Frigos but I have to imagine it's taking some of their business away; it's a Friday tradition for me lately. *Salads are outstanding; Cobb salad is my fav. I come here all the time because I work in Monarch Place, and it's very consistent with both the service and the food, which are excellent. The owner, John, is notably kind and funny. I have a few favorites here. For breakfast, I almost always opt for the Miss Lorraine Sandwich, which is an egg, bacon, spinach, and dill mayo on a croissant roll. And it's, of course, delicious. I also really love the (usually Monday) sandwich special, the Buffalo Chicken Caesar Wrap, the Buffalo Bill Wrap, the Pilgrim Sandwich (when I'm feeling Thanksgivingy), and good ol' pastrami and swiss on rye. read more

Staying in town and I was hungry, so I went on Yelp and found this place. I wanted breakfast, but I came too late. Nice variety of breakfast sandwiches. I wanted to turn mine into a wrap buy I missed breakfast anyway so I had to do lunch. Again, a nice variety of sandwiches,wraps,and salads and soup. I chose to go with a salad. It was very appetizing to look at and eat and you get alot too, I even added chicken to it. I should have taken a picture, but I was so hungry I couldn't wait. I'll probably go back for dinner. This is my favorite little lunch spot. I love their bacon and blue grilled chicken wrap. All of the sandwiches are a tad on the pricey side apparently but after living in Boston for 5 years, they seem okay to me. They have awesome soups, and a bean salad that I probably eat 3 times a week. My favorite thing is the southwestern bean salad with the rice. They don't have it as often as the regular version but whenever they do I grab one. They have already prepped sandwiches, wraps and salads in the case with all the drinks so if you're in a rush, hit that up. They are all made fresh daily so they are as good as anything you'd wait for if you don't want one of their specialty items. They also have a delicious breakfast menu. The egg sandwiches make my tummy smile. Their cheddar bagels are delicious and according to my co-workers their cookies aren't half bad either. They aren't reinventing the wheel here or anything, but if you want a place with reliable quality, and really friendly service then you should probably try this place out. read more

Love coming here. The food is always incredible, I've gotten a number of their salads, my favorite so far being their Cobb salad special. I'm a big fan of their bacon pasta salad at only $4/$5 its a great side or a small lunch. I've also heard their soups are very good to keep you warm on those cold days. read more
