The coffee cup that did not cup the coffee at donut drop

Took the teens to this donut spot yesterday while in Schaumburg for the weekend. I thought why take them to regular ole Dunkin when we can experience fresh donuts and cool variety? The shop is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. The shop is small but has lots of seating. The donuts are on display behind a tall glass window for easy viewing and picking! We got a dozen. All of the donuts were delicious, soft and fresh. Some were even warm. Favorites for me included the lemon, strawberry and maple. The Boston custard (not to be confused with cream) was fantastic. I tasted a few others. And everyone loved their selections also. If you're in the area stop in. Everyone was super friendly. Only complaint was the cheap coffee cup. I ended up spilling coffee all over myself and car. Extremely disappointing. But just the cup was bad. The coffee itself was good I just couldn't enjoy it.

Donut Drop continues to serve beyond exemplary donuts for a great price. These are still the moistest donuts I've ever had in the Chicagoland area and highly recommend anyone passing through to stop by in the morning. Recently ordered a "donut cake" for Father's Day that could be customized in many different ways and ended up looking and tasting amazing. Incredibly moist, delectable, and was absolutely humongous for only $15.

I had some fantastic classic donuts here in Schaumburg. I was in and out with my order. The apple filled was by far the best, so moist and delicious like they crammed a whole apple pie in the middle. I could have had a dozen of these. I did favor the cake donuts slightly over the raised dough. Donut prices were in the mid range. "I'll be back" in my Arnold Schwarzenegger voice.

Had a baby sprinkle for my daughter and the cake and donuts were at big hit for desert. People complimented how delicious they were and wanted to know where I got them .[[HIGHLIGHT]]Hardly anything left and went so well with the decorations " oh boy ! It's a sprinkle ! "[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I had these donuts recently at a birthday party, they were the cake for the event. Let me tell you these were delicious, I have not had such a great yeasty donut in the longest time! They were super yeasty and not too dense or not too light, just right. Each bite was delicious and it makes me want to check this store out in person and see what other donut varieties they have to offer. I had booked marked this place for awhile because I saw they had mochi donuts, but now these regular donuts might be better.

Donuts are always delicious but these donuts were airy and fluffy. I'm always on a hunt for delicious unique donuts around the burbs and definitely a delicious donut spot. In my opinion the icing is a bit too sweet for my preferences but it's still very delicious. 5 donuts for $9 something. Not too bad in my opinion. Definitely coming back but this time I will come a lot earlier to have more choice to pick from. If you are in the area, definitely check it out. It's located in the middle of Harper college and topgolf.

I saw on Instagram that they were serving mochi Donuts. So I had to grab some. I was able to get some the first weekend before they sold out. I also got a few of their regular donuts (long john chocolate, lemon ring, red velvet) all good and great early in the morning. The mochi donuts I got were glazed, ube, strawberry, fruity pebbles, chocolate, and cinnamon. My fave was the ube because it was light and chewy and ube is tasty! I guess negatives (although I don't want to be harsh since I did like the mochi donuts overall)... -the frosting was not consistent. Some of the donuts were nicely covered and others looked like they were made in a hurry and dipped in a tiny bit. -not all the donuts tasted light and airy. some were more dense tasting. They were never hard to chew though. I'm just getting down to the nit-picky stuff. I didn't feel cheated at all buying them so I went another weekend to get them since they had new flavors. I'd recommend them especially when not every donut place offers the regular donut flavors and mochi donuts they do.

I've driven by this place every day on the way to work for 2.5 years and finally decided it was time to drop in for a visit. So many different varieties of donuts, all so pretty on display. :) I wanted to try the ube donut, but unfortunately it's not in season for the winter. :( So I went with my all-time fav, the Boston cream donut. It was delicious and sweet, with a very good custard filling. Friendly staff and plenty of parking in the strip mall made for a very pleasant experience. Be sure to drop in for these gourmet donuts!

I believe this shop calls them "poof" donuts. They do not lie. The height on these donuts is not because they are dense, but because they are filled with a sweet combination of dough, air, and pure joy. I haven't tried too many of the different flavors yet, but the general notion I'm getting is that the flavors themselves are apparent, but not overwhelming. The star is really the base donut. Nothing I've tried overshadows the perfection of their "poof".

Nice customer service but doughnuts are dry (tried bits of 4 of diff kinds) and my plain coffee had a nasty, sweet lightly hazelnut flavor...which makes me think they reused the same dispenser without washing it. read more

This one takes the cake..... I tried many competitors that have been around longer then this shop, doesn't come close. Seek this place out!!! You don't get that emulsified shortening after taste on your tongue. Come earlier then later, the selection will be more to your liking. So happy I yelped and found this place. These donuts are incredible. So fresh, such good quality! I LOVE raised donuts and these are genuinely some of the best I've ever had, so fluffy but also substantial. I don't live particularly close by but I'll be planning any of my Schaumburg area errands around the hours this place is open. They're well worth it. I mostly tried raised donuts but I did get one cake donut and it was also fantastic. The folks behind the counter were super friendly and helpful, too which is always a plus. I don't think the dining room is open right now which I can absolutely appreciate, and so there was plenty of room to space out amongst others while waiting for my order. So well done--can't wait to stop by again! read more

Very disappointed in this place. Came in for the first time. Just wanted to check out menu to see what was available. Lady at the counter rudely said "this is all I have" felt like we were being rushed out. Once I got a donut and left the donut was really horrible. Dried out dough with cheap frosting. The only good thing about this experience was the bottle of sprite from the fridge. Will not be coming back. read more

Great variety of donuts. We were trying to find a donut place that wasn't a chain and this place did not disappoint. I enjoyed the atmosphere and music play list. I've been to many, many doughnut shops in various cities but this is the first one that had a lemon frosted doughnut and it's my new favorite! It was magnificent, perfectly tart and sweet. I was also impressed by their chocolate cake doughnut. I opt for chocolate cake doughnuts wherever I go, and this one definitely stood out. It was soft and indulgent, and I was sorry I didn't purchase more. The person who helped me was also very kind and patient. I'll buy a whole dozen next time read more

donuts have nearly doubled in price. used to be $1.05 or $1.10/donut. now, they're $1.95/donut. i understand there's inflation but that's ridiculous. doubling your prices is gouging. this place is no longer a good value. used to go once a week but not anymore. read more

I LOVE donuts- so if I can find a donut shop you best believe I will be there. I happened to be in the area and tried this place out. I got a chocolate long john and an apple fritter and they were both amazing. The donut was obviously freshly made and it was evident in the way it melted in my mouth. The shop it self was very cute and a nice place to actually have some coffee and enjoy some donuts. They have unique flavors as well- like maple bacon with real bacon on top! I wish I was able to try all the flavors while i was there but unfortunately I didn't. read more

Wow, the hype for Donut Drop is worth the visit! They make their donuts fresh each morning, with a lot of variety and fair prices; $4.95 for half a dozen! $1.39 for a coffee which was also very delicious! My favorite is the double chocolate, and the Maple glaze is very tasty. I still have many more to try :p delicious! read more

I love this place! The maple bacon is my favorite!!! We ordered ahead and picked up a ton of boxes of donuts for my daughter's first birthday party. It was a really reasonable price, and the donuts were PERFECT. We ordered a good mix of the specialty donuts and the classics, and everyone was really happy. They were easy to work with, and everyone LOVED them. I also love their cold brew coffee. YUM! read more

The donuts were fine. My son enjoyed a chocolate and a cinnamon sugar. This review is more about the Donut Drop's choice of music. While my 6 year old ate his donuts we had the pleasure of listening to an UNEDITED version of Ludicrous's Rollout, which has the F word in it a minimum of 12 times! I would have considered it a coincidence, but the song before it was also an unedited song with plenty of cursing. I personally don't care about this, but I'm positive many other parents, grandparents or customers of any age would not appreciate it very much! Pretty embarrassing if you ask me. read more

This place is fantastic!!!! I am SO sick of bad donuts like Dunkin Donuts and recently drove past this place as it's close to where i live. It is absolutely wonderful. The donuts are the BEST BEST BEST. SO good!!! I love the coffee, too. Best part- they actually deliver!!! Definitely give this place a try. Seems like they just changed their hours to be open on Sundays which is great. You are foolish if you don't try the red velvet cake donut. Amazing. read more

Apparently my sister bought me a donut from here before but I clearly didn't remember. Over the weekend someone brought donuts from here to the crossfit competition I was at. I didn't have any but it was nice finding out that there was a new(ish) donut shop in the area. I decided to come back and pick up donuts a couple days later for a work meeting. The donut shop is in a strip mall at the corner of Algonquin and Hammond in Schaumburg. My coworkers and I loved the donuts! This place honestly has the best donuts I've ever had in my local area. My family always buys a dozen, and it's always gone that very same day or the next. They always make their donuts fresh everyday so you know they're going to taste great, and they have a variety of different flavors to choose from as well. I personally really like their original glazed and maple glazed donuts the best, but I would say the rest of their donuts are all equally amazing as well. The prices are fairly similar to other competitors like Spunky, so I would say it's worth checking out at least once! read more

Literally the best yeasted donuts I've ever had. Usually I always get cake donuts at other places because glazed donuts and filled donuts taste bland or dry - not at Donut Drop. DELICIOUS glazed donuts, custard donuts, and fritters. Light and moist, not dry or hard at all. One time I literally got there at noon and they had nothing left basically but twists and I got one and it still tasted fresh. I also love that they have egg sandwiches and drinks so you can actually eat some sort of breakfast if you want. Also, for parents - the bathroom has a full on changing table and is very family friendly. The only downside of this place is if you don't get here early, they run out of donuts pretty frequently and definitely before their regular hours "close". I wish they would make even more so they could stay open their full time with somewhat of a full selection! So make sure you call ahead if you're looking for a specific donut or if you can't make it until later in the morning or early afternoon. But yeah, best yeasted donuts ever. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. I'm honestly not a big donut person but these donuts are transcendent! It's light and fluffy and perfection! It just really goes to show the difference between a place that makes their donuts fresh everyday vs other places that don't. The flavors are so fun, whimsical and down right delicious. I love getting a dozen for me and the girlfriends and trying everything. But my big favorite is the blueberry and s'mores. I mean comeon who doesn't love s'mores. But the blueberry was such a pleasant surprise, I don't even like blueberries! But I do love that blue berry with all my heart! Words can't express how wonderful this place is. I get lost in conversations with the owners all the time too! This is a small local business that is a gem to have especially in the surburbs! read more

Ohhhhh my goodness! What a local treasure! Everything was fresh and not greasy. I would have to say this place beats all the local donuts I've had. I had the maple bacon, pumpkin cheese, apple pie, apple cider, red velvet, Boston cream.... all were amazing. So happy I don't have to drive to the city to have amazing hand cut donuts. I ordered online and did curbside pick up which was awesome with a baby and trying to avoid going inside during covid. read more

We stopped here after an event we were at this morning. My husband wanted coffee and we didn't want something big chain. He bought sprinkle donuts, vanilla long john, and pumpkin spice donuts. The donuts were out of this world! My husband's coffee was good, however the lid wouldn't secure to the cup properly and he spilled hot coffee on himself and all over our car. I am capable of sometimes paying more than I should for fancy donuts.Guilty. Now that I have donut drop on the way to school, I have quality and affordable donuts that I can enjoy. They are so fresh! There are always a few fun specialty options in addition to the classic flavors. How is there not a line outside the door every day??? I hope donut drop becomes the next donut phenomenon. read more

Why did i not go here sooner! They are such a good donut shop right on my way to work. Their delectable delights were so satisfying. Every one of their donuts that I have tried so far has been perfect. I think they must put a little magic in each one. I loved the dozen i purchased and i will be a return customer. Went in around 1000, selection was low and customer service wasn't great. The glazed wasn't fresh and couldn't decide if the double chocolate was a cake donut if just stale. The best donut was the Boston Cream but left a lot to be desired. read more

Arrived 8:30 am Sunday morning to try out with family in van, to discover lights off, empty cases and clean floors. I've managed a donut shop long ago, and was a bit surprised to find a donut shop opening at 7:30 am with no bake left, clean and locked up by 8:30 am. The sign did say open until donuts gone, but...will check again another time. read more

The quality of the donuts was disappointing. They tasted stale, and we didn't even finish the half dozen. The product does not come close to the quality associated with Country Donuts. My concern is that someone trying County Donuts may believe they've visited Country Donuts and avoid the real one based on this experience--which would be unfortunate. If you're looking for excellent donuts, I strongly recommend Country Donuts in Elgin or Crystal Lake. Please consider changing the name or signage to make the distinction clear for customers.

They were delicious but we knew we weren't getting the best of the batch and also noticed people in the back making tons of donuts. So we decided to return for a 7 am donut run....... PERFECTION! The donuts were sooooo fresh and sweet and there were soooooo many flavors - the huge apple fritter was moist and our new favorite was the payday with vanilla, caramel icing and peanuts. But I think what really stood out was how long the donuts taste good after you buy them and Spunky Dunkers didn't disappoint. Get them home and in a ziploc bag or Tupperware and they tasted just as good 2 days later This place isn't a secret either and I see why. There were at least 10 people crowded around the cashier counter first thing in the morning for a fresh batch.

That said, with things going on in my life, I don't always have the time to bake like I want to. When I need something and I don't have the time to do it, then I usually go to a brick and mortar bakery. Imagine my surprise when I discovered a mutual Facebook friend running a baking business out of her home (https://www.facebook.com/MissKittysTreats). For most of you that have read my reviews, you know I am a big supporter of local businesses. Back in February I discovered that Miss Kitty was doing cakes, so I ordered one from her for Valentine's Day, a lovely chocolate mocha coconut cake with ganache and espresso. Well that did not go so well. The cake arrived as planned and looked beautiful, but The Doctor was admitted into the hospital for a triple bypass. We eventually got home to try the cake about two weeks later, and it was very good. But as a baker, I knew that cake would have been a whole lot tastier if we had it on VD. Fast forward to our anniversary and we got the same cake to have at home as dessert with The Queen. OMG! The flavors were so amazing and the cake was so moist. For you folks that like a lot of frosting, you get it here. I myself don't do a lot of frosting, but I know most people do like it. I am that person who scraps off frosting from cupcakes and Cake, but Miss Kitty's frosting combined with the cake was sublime. Ain't gonna lie, I did take come off :-) Still delicious AF. This weekend Miss Kitty made donuts: Cinnamon sugar apple cider, Carmel apple cider, Strawberry Dreams, Pumpkin Spice, "Fun size " candy bars: coconut chocolate almond (With nuts or without ) and snickers not snickers, Classic vanilla/chocolate Halloween theme I am not a pumpkin girl, so Miss Kitty was nice enough to swap them out for the coconut chocolate almond donuts. I am a sucker for chocolate and coconut and the thought of eating an Almond Joy cake donut was too much for me. These are supposed to be for a birthday celebration tonight, but I had to try the coconut chocolate almond one. Yeah that was so good, so so good. I am trying not to eat another one...good luck with that. Miss Kitty is operating out of her home, but takes orders and delivers to your home. I respect it. I mean. What is wrong with people, right? Lot for parking.

What made it worse was how both the cashier and the owner spoke to me. They raised their voices instead of helping. There was a promotion for 3 bakery items for $5. I accidentally selected 7 items instead of 6, and I clearly told them multiple times that I only wanted 6 and did NOT want the extra item. Instead of fixing a simple mistake calmly, they kept raising their tone at me, which was unnecessary and uncomfortable. As a customer, I expect basic respect and professionalism. This situation could have been handled politely in seconds, but instead it turned into a negative experience. I won't be returning, and I hope management seriously works on customer service.

You may ask well, it showed up and it was very hot- not only was it delicious, but it was the first pizza we've had since arriving in Chicago that had a a crust that tasted like many pizzas we ate in California - that was not a bad thing. While we sat there eating and enjoying the music, we commented on how pleasant and simple the restaurant was and more importantly, the staff was wonderful and very accommodating. This is the best donut shop in northwest suburbs, in my humble opinion. Yes, I've been to most donut shops in this area. All the donuts from Donut Drop are always fresh and yummy. If you don't know what to choose, the proprietor will kindly recommend some to you. Please try Boston Cream, any of Chocolate-flavored, and Red Velvet donuts. And their are many more good ones. My only complaint is that this store closes too early, at 2:00 PM. I hope that they will open in the evenings. read more

I was very iffy in coming in because it didn't look that good from the outside but as soon as I walked in, I saw all the different types of donuts they had freshly baked it smelled delicious! This place is a special gem! Their prices are very reasonable as well i ordered a bagel sandwich and it was a perfect size and delicious! I only had one doughnut and it was fantastic it wasn't dry, it was perfectly made. Defiantly will be coming back every week! read more
