Came here for breakfast on last day of our beach trip. We had an awful experience the previous day at a donut truck so was just praying this place at least had better donuts. Walked in and lines were long so that was a good sign. The donuts looked really good and they had some interesting varieties. We got seated in a long both and I ordered a coffee, cinnamon donut, key lime filled powdered donut and chocolate glazed. My son had two cinnamon donuts, my honey had a vegetarian omelette, and little princess had a pancake. All three of my donuts were really good! 5 stars just on those alone. The cinnamon donut was layered with so much cinnamon that the donut didn't even have a hole, and it was fluffy and perfectly moist. The glazed chocolate was really good and the powdered key lime filled was yum! It was filled nicely and had a ton coming out with every bite. My coffee was a 3, ok. I had a bite of the pancake, which was huge for a child's size, and it was very fluffy and had excellent taste with no syrup. The biscuits and grits weren't that great that my honey had as sides, def a 2 there. The waiter did a fantastic job of refilling drinks and checking up on us. A sure 5 right there. This place had a wait for brunch on a Monday morning, but it was worth it. They had corn hole while you wait (though some fans or some misters would have been more welcome than entertainment, as it was blazing hot). Despite the long line, we were seated relatively quickly, and served promptly. Staff was friendly and competent. Everything was delicious and the portions were substantial. We didn't get to try the donuts, as we had mostly pancakes and French toast dishes, but they looked tasty. They also had some yummy looking key lime pie and cakes that we didn't try but were tempted by. When we come back for next vacation, they will make the list of places we are willing to repeat. read more

Great place! We got seated very quickly and our waiter was nice. Not overly chatty which I always appreciate. Our breakfast was very delicious! Big portions too! They have a limited selection however the variety is of good quality. I am a fan of cake donuts so I tried out their version of the old fashioned. It was good but not the best I've ever had. I also ordered the Chocolate Angel and it was very good. The glazed donut is filled with chocolate cream and completely covered in powdered sugar. It may not look like much but the name says it all. Really an outstanding donut. If I were rating this donut alone, it would be 5 stars plus. The woman (older) helping us did not match the atmosphere. She didn't heat up our donuts so that is why they lost a star (customer service is big for me) and didn't catch a welcoming vibe from her or a smile, she seemed annoyed. Really hate to rate this place with the measly two stars, especially after seeing all the high reviews and the amount of traffic at this place on a daily basis. Butttttttt, I'm not going to lie to my yelping community, my standards for transparency are just too high. I'll cut to the chase, the donuts were dry. Pretty big reason for not enjoying what I'm assuming are daily made fresh donuts. If you ask me what I think about the place, I'd probably go with tourist trap geared towards drawing parents with kids. Nothing wrong with that, I was just super pumped about some awesome donuts! I was really excited about eating here. The donuts are good. The breakfast items are just ok. I had the cinnamon raisin bread French toast, and it was awful. It looked amazing when the waitress brought it out, but I was surprised by how flavorless it was. The bread was soggy throughout and I tried to eat some salvageable pieces, but most of it was inedible. Unfortunately, the waitress didn't come back to the table for quite some time and when she returned, my family had finished eating and she had given us the bill. My mom ordered a key lime pie to go, and later when we tried it, we were all disappointed and ending up throwing it away. The Donut Hole is a staple for all of our visits to this area. We love the food and atmosphere. And we've been coming for 5 years now. However, this last time left something to be desired. The food was still great, and our waitress was great too. But everyone else seemed off this day. One waitress literally did nothing the entire hour and 10 minutes we were there, except chat with another waitress in between her running back and forth to her table(s). Another walked back and forth behind the counter and folded 2 boxes the entire time. At one point, we wanted to buy a muffin and went up to do so, and she stood there and didn't ask if she could help and didn't offer anything. Another dude folded a box (for donuts) for like 20 minutes (for real). So, although EVERY visit past has been great, I'm not sure if there's new management or what but this time was a bit disappointing. read more

We came here on Saturday around noon for breakfast. We had visited this location a few days prior for dessert and got a monstrous chocolate cake and a few slices of pie. There was no wait when we sat down and our server was friendly and attentive--the best service we have received at any restaurant since we have been in PCB. At the recommendation of our server, my husband ordered the monster omelet. Wow. It was good. I was kinda sad I didn't order one because two bites of my hubby's just wasn't enough. The pancakes were light, fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth good, and monstrously large. They barely fit on the plate! Oh, and you have to order the bacon here. Our family are all huge bacon fans. We love it. We eat lots of it, everywhere, all the time, and we all agree that THIS is the best we've ever tasted. YOU MUST ORDER THE BACON!! You're welcome. I'm not a big fan of breakfast, but this is the best breakfast I've ever eaten. If breakfast tasted like this everywhere, I'd eat it all the time. But sadly, it's only at the Donut Hole and I have to wait another year before I can have another incredible breakfast like this one again. We will most definitely be back next time we visit. This great independent gem is on the side of the road and because of the name you may be tempted to pass it by if you think it is only doughnuts. This is a great breakfast and lunch restaurant. It has a beautiful interior like a building in New England would look. Tall ceilings with walls full of windows bring light into the airy eating room. A great varied menu with with items from crab cake eggs Benedict (my personal fav) to cinnamon Texas toast with whip cream and you name the fruit to the popular banana pecan pancakes. Then a great variety of sandwiches, one in our group got the club and it was huge. Our waitress, Heather was attentive and eager to please. (We have a peanut and treenut allergy in the family, so this review is not for any of the donuts or bakery items on that side of the restaurant.) We came in for a mid-morning brunch over the holidays. There was a line out the door! We waited only about 20 minutes but as soon as we were seated, they brought our drinks. The service was good, and you could tell that they are used to dealing with children, special orders, and large parties. We were relieved to know that they don't even have nuts in their kitchen, so my son was able to freely order off the menu. He really enjoyed his chocolate chip pancakes. I had the "diet" menu with two biscuits and eggs, without gravy. The biscuits were so fluffy and soft! My husband enjoyed his seafood omelet too.
