Wow, what a cute little place, lots of local art, I got an awesome little purple ceramic mushroom, but they had lots of other things. And of course coffee, which was really delicious, the one I got. It was a cinnamon roll cold brew with foam and.... I don't know what else, but it was pretty amazing (iced). Lots of coffee/tea options, they have gluten-free goodies and I noticed they had some quiche and soups, so while I didn't get any food, I would not be opposed, for sure! The location of Espresso Yourself Coffee & Cafe couldn't have been any better, as far as what I needed it for. I'd just done a training run that began and ended at the shoe store across the street. At the conclusion, I was given a Paloma-flavored non-alcoholic beer, courtesy of one of my running group's sponsors, but what was I supposed to do with that? It was decided that we needed coffee. (How ironic, by the way. Receiving a free beer from your sponsor.) We seem to have gotten there just in time. There was already a healthy crowd of people who apparently weren't runners, based on their physique (lol jk), and several people from our running group arrived after we did. People apparently like this place. The vibe is quirky and independent, with a lot of random decor, including a Blues Brothers poster and a sign declaring that the Teletubbies are welcome, and a lot of local-interest signage and artwork. People in the City love to remind themselves that they're in St. Louis. You never see anything like that in my native West County. Truth be told, I wouldn't even go into a coffee shop unless someone else suggested it. It costs less at QT. But I figured when in Rome. I wasn't about to get a sandwich, in part because I wasn't hungry, and in part because I'm always wary of food from places that specialize in coffee, but I figured I'd try one of their fancy coffee drinks instead of just a regular coffee. I went with something called a Zippity Do Da, or something to that effect. It was a latte, served hot or cold (I of course went with hot), with... if I'm not mistaken, peanut butter, honey and mocha. I liked the idea that there was a peanut butter element, in part because I couldn't imagine what that would be like. Peanut butter, even the welfare version you get at Aldi, is at least somewhat viscous. Was this going to be more like a milkshake? That could be gross, and grossly caloric, canceling out any benefit of my training run. Of course I was going to drink it anyway. Turns out that the peanut butter was the element that was least prominent in the overall taste of this drink, though you could in fact taste it. I found it impressive that, if you concentrated hard enough, you could detect elements of peanut butter, honey and mocha. It's like when you purchase a fancy bottle of wine, from, perhaps, the aforementioned Aldi, and you really can taste bits of oak, vanilla, campfire and a slight nuttiness. No Diddy. These people are true coffee artists, the cafe equivalent of people who work at Subway. I'm at the nearby shoe store every once in a while, so maybe I'll return. I might even cop a bagel. read more

This store is in a residential city street, so parking is a little challenging. I came on a weekend, so it was packed inside. There are tables outside that will be perfect for spring weather. The menu isn't terribly large, but I still froze when it came time to decide. The lady behind the counter was patient when I asked a million questions, as I hadn't been in for a few years. I chose the Valentines special, but hot. It had chocolate and strawberry syrup. Delicious! The strawberry flavor is light, and the chocolate flavor is more prominent. There is food available as well. This spot has everything you could possibly hope for from a coffee cafe. The style of the decorations is cute, funny, maybe a little sarcastic, and exactly what I'd want in my own home. I love that the business displays and sells works by local artists too. The owner, who is often working as well, and her employees are friendly and efficient. Their drinks range from traditional drip brew to creatively delicious concoctions and are perfect in cold or hot weather. Their coffee ice cubes make them the only coffee shop where I want to order an iced coffee! Seating inside and out is comfortable and inviting, and the patio has been pet-approved by my pup and many others. The food menu has expanded since I started going, but my favorites are still the gluten free scones and their fruit and yogurt parfait. I got food delivered because my power was out. The good - an iced vanilla latte w coffee cubes. Delicious! The bad - first, the bagel sandwich. Bagel was more like a roll. Didn't have the chewy bagel texture. The bacon/egg/cheese inside tasted off. Not sure if the cheese was old or if it was the bacon. Could not eat it. Maybe not bad, but not for me - the chocolate chip scone. Was not crumbly, had loads of chocolate frosting on top. Too sugary IMO, but others may like it. Lastly, the delivery packaging was great! Drink was sealed with a sticker over the opening, the pastry was sealed in cellophane and the sandwich was in a plastic clamshell. Most are made in-house and a few come from a nearby bakery. The coffee menu features all the usual coffee and espresso drinks plus some fun, creative options. Work by local artist hangs on the wall and is for sale. There's a take-one-leave-one shelf of books handy too. The owners and employees are friendly and welcoming. Service is fast but unrushed; patrons are welcome to linger and read, work, or socialize. The patio is pretty sweet. The shop's in a largely residential area, so expect to see plenty of walkers, joggers, and adorable puppers passing by. read more

Not sure why I keep coming here, I am consistently disappointed. The coffee is fine, but that's all I'll say about that. But the food, don't even bother. It all feels like it's been microwaved or thrown in a toaster oven in the back. Really just not good. The Breakfast burrito was small and the meat inside was gray and limp. Honest, I'm calling it meat because I'm not sure what it was supposed to be. The sign says bacon, but I'm not convinced. The people there are nice enough but often I find they are talking amongst themselves or to other people. Either I must be ugly or invisible, because I don't feel like a priority there. And unless you can fit you dog on your lap... don't bother believing their 'dog friendly' signs. I ordered delivery from Espresso Yourself, and the quality of the items were still great, which is difficult in and of itself. They get 5 stars because the Nonna Latte is excellent. I did request it half sweet, which they did spot on. Generally cinnamon in coffee is hard to get right but the flavors here blended really well. The banana bread was moist and flavorful, I got the Peanut Butter and Banana toast which was also great, nice quality bread. The breakfast sandwich I got was lackluster, the bacon is chopped lightly into the egg, but it still tasted nice and was filling enough. The perfect addition to the neighborhood, we're so thankful to have a coffee shop within walking distance from home. We love strolling down in the morning with our dogs while on a walk, the pups love their patio. I always enjoy an iced caramel latte with almond milk and coffee ice - ice made of coffee - never waters down the drink. LOVE! Their pastry options always appear and taste freshly made. Do not make my mistake, this is not the place for hot food. What they call a breakfast burrito is an flavorless wrap. The bacon is not thick cut (no chew, no smoke, flavorless). The eggs are scrambled hard and have no seasoning (salt or pepper). No potatoes, generic salsa is extra. Like their sister restaurant next store, this food is lacking. Had I not decided to grab some on a walk today I never would have felt the need to write this review. But I did, and I was offended by the difference between description and reality. What a great spot right smack in the middle of a big city neighborhood! It is decorated so cute and the coffees are excellent. I had the cloud 9 which is a white chocolate and raspberry latte with oat milk. She had an iced version of frosted mint and chocolate. I consider myself somewhat of a moderate barista, so I can say that both were really good. Another really cool thing that I hadn't seen before was that for a $.25 up charge, you can get iced coffee cubes in your iced coffee, that way as the ice melts, it doesn't dilute your coffee flavor as much! If you're in the area, this place is worth the trip, as one could plainly see by the volume of foot traffic they had while we were there. I ordered the Espresso Patronum and it was very unique and quite delicious. I loved the flavor combination. I also loved the option of having coffee ice cubes as well so the drink never got diluted. So smart! I ordered my fiancé an iced vanilla latte and he said it was delicious! I sat outside on the patio, which was nice. It was the perfect place to have a coffee! I originally ate here a couple weeks ago. Decided not to "yelp" it until I went to the "sister" location next door. They are both run by the same women and they even have an open door between the two locations. It's just that the other serves lunch. Yesterday I took a couple people to try it. One was my friend that went with me a couple weeks ago and the other was a newbie. We had every intention in going into the sandwich shop. Honestly we did. But the newbie wanted an espresso and after looking at the menu I couldn't shake my thoughts of the breakfast burrito that I got last week. So we apologized to the staff waiting to take our order and went through the opening to the other side. My friend who went with me last week got the same thing from the week prior...burrito and iced tea - she said it's the best tea in the city. The newbie followed her lead and got the burrito and a double espresso. He loved both. I really wanted to try something different. I wanted this review to talk about something other than a breakfast burrito but I couldn't do it. I did however get an iced Chai tea latte with a shot of espresso. A little backstory before I tell you how I really feel about this burrito and my beverage. There was this place on Hampton that I went to weekly for breakfast. He had the best breakfast burrito and homemade salsa in Saint Louis. It was the perfect heat (even for me...I'm a wuss) and he served it with potatoes and it was a delightfully filling meal. Sadly, he isn't open anymore but I'll continue to rate any breakfast burrito against his. All that being said this breakfast burrito is chock full of egg with the perfect amount of bacon. I'm guessing the bacon is chopped because there aren't any tough bites where you have to rip a piece of bacon in half. You know what I'm saying? The salsa isn't made in house but I was told it's made somewhere in town. So not some Old El Paso stuff. It again looked like it wasn't enough food but it honestly was the right amount. As for my beverage... this is why it's a 4 for me (it would probably be a 5 for my pals but hey, I'm writing this) - last week I had the black tea and while I always put sweetener in it I had to put more cuz it was a little too bitter for me. Not bitter as in old but bitter bitter. (That should clear it up. Haha) Yesterday's Chai tea latte with the shot of espresso was also bitter. I know what you are thinking but when I get this at other locations it's not bitter. The good thing about it is that I didn't slurp it all down real fast like I usually do I really took my time with it. So it lasted through my breakfast. Which was nice because even though it was really warm out there was a great breeze on the outside patio. I'll let you know if I ever get to the sandwich shop. Not sure if that's gonna happen any time soon since I'm already thinking about that breakfast burrito. read more

Service was friendly as soon as you walk in the door. They have a lot of fun flavor options for lattes and I really liked the Skippidity Do Da. It was really surprising! Peanut butter and coffee? Darling and artsy neighborhood coffee shop in the trendy South Hampton neighborhood along Macklind, but worth the drive over even if you aren't a local! The staff is so friendly and I enjoyed hearing them greet customers by name. There are a variety of comfortable seating spaces and tables inside and out. They have all the coffee classics you would want plus innovative specials. I ordered the "warm and fuzzy" which was a Chai pumpkin latte. It was flavorful and not too sweet or overpowering that it masked the coffee flavor. To eat I had the tomato bagel melt. It was more of a snack size so perfect if your hungry but don't want to be stuffed. I had been here a while ago when they were newer and left feeling indifferent...not sure why. New to the neighborhood and they were open today so we stopped by for a morning coffee and breakfast. I got the Sweet as can Bee with almond milk and my husband got the Delight Mint but he picked whole milk (he got nervous when asked for some reason). Both were really delicious and it was a hefty amount. We also got the breakfast burrito and split it. It was kind of pricey but it was tasty. We are from Texas so $6.50 for a breakfast burrito seems steep. The salsa was homemade and chunky and really flavorful like the kind we used to get at A Second Cup. The indoor seating consisted of a few tables and a few booths/benches by tables, and the outdoor seating was very dog friendly and had some water bowls for dogs. They have a bunch of different flavored late options as well as kombucha, smoothies, and "soda coffee" (something that I had never seen before). The soda coffee is either seltzer or kombucha with a shot of espresso. I tried out the kombucha soda coffee and it tasted a little odd, but pretty much what I wold have expected. I enjoyed the experience, but I will probably not order it again. They do not have many food options, and, in addition, I tried to order the breakfast bowl and the organic granola bar, but they were out of both. I ended up going with a blueberry muffin instead. They initially forgot my blueberry muffin, but apologized and gave it to me as soon as I reminded them. The blueberry muffin was very delicious! It was super soft and incredibly flavorful. Okay, so no photos because I only ever get coffee there, but I do see regularly. If you look up most lists of coffee shops in St Louis (which I have), you will not see this. And I have no clue why. I mean one, it is an awesome name. And two, if I tried to make up an image of a neighborhood coffee shop in my head, this is what I'd come up with. The vibe here, again, is friendly. There is seating inside and outside, and you'll often see someone who must've stopped by while walking their dog or going for a daily walk just chilling with a drink at an outside table. Based upon their great array of specialty lattes, I would say that their focus is more on the casual, not particularly pretentious coffee drinkers. Which to me is fine, since St Louis has plenty of the more pretentious coffee shops. The only knock on this place is that because it is in a neighborhood, parking is limited and on the street. Usually if I stop by early, it's not an issue. But it is something to keep in mind. Overall, I definitely recommend this place. You might find somewhere with better coffee or better food, but it's just a pleasant place to hang out in. Definitely a hidden gem. read more
