    Coconut croissant donut
    Jason F.

I stopped by here yesterday morning with my dad for a morning snack. We were staying in a hotel nearby and had walked by Donut King Waikiki a number of times, and their donuts always looked great. So on this morning, when we had some free time, we decided to stop. The shop itself is rather small, with a couple of large display cases filled with donuts and a few small tables tucked into the corner. For my pastry on this morning, I chose the coconut croissant donut. From the time I stood in line until I was out the door was less than 5 minutes. My donut here ended up being quite good as it was light and you could really see the lamination in it. The coconut flakes on top added a nice flavor. The sticky glaze was fantastic as it reminded me of caramel and helped keep the coconut from falling off. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed my donut here and was definitely eyeing the ube coconut cake donut as well.

We always make it a point to stop here for breakfast whenever we visit Waikiki, and it never disappoints. Their donuts are absolute perfection. Incredibly soft and fluffy and as a massive ube fan, the ube donut was a total must try that completely lived up to expectations. The croissant sandwiches are also delicious and very filling, though we did notice a mild, slightly inconsistent yeast flavor across the two we bought, with one being a bit more pronounced than the other. It is more of a grab and go place with minimal indoor seating. Despite that minor note, we keep coming back because the treats are so good, and we highly recommend stopping by!

Delicious donuts! They were soft & tasted fresh! There's a good variety to pick from along with drinks/coffee.

Such a sweet lady working behind the counter! Nice spot to check out when you're craving something sweet. I love mochi donuts and they had a pineapple and ube flavored donut so I had to try both. They were soft and delicious!

Took my son to this location to check it out while we are staying in Waikiki. On the outside emits the glitz and glamour of Waikiki. It has that classic old school donut shop feel, both inside and outside, which is great. We ordered a variety of donuts and can say that each one was great. All were very, very soft and fluffy and flavorful. I ordered a croissant donut to try out even though I'm not a huge fan of croissants and that was very flavorful, had an excellent texture, and was uniquely different than the other donuts. If you are in Waikiki, I'd strongly suggest carving out a morning to give them a shot!

    Most delicious donuts.

Most amazing donuts on island by far. 110%+ recommend. Worth the drive from every direction.

Donut holes (glazed and cinnamon/sugar), Apple Fritter

The donut holes are the star of the show here. I guarantee you've never had one so light and fluffy - like little pillows from heaven. Perfect level of sweetness. I got a dozen to share with my family and could have eaten all twelve myself. Cappuccino is also amazing. Regular yeast donuts are also great (had the glazed and chocolate iced yesterday). And let me tell you about the apple fritter - got it on a whim, the best snap decision I've made in a while. Same as the donuts - perfect sweetness level, light and flaky (when can you ever say this about a fritter?!?). Quick in and out before 9am. Donut king truly is the king !

My husband and I walked passed this place on Saturday and I said we needed to get some immediately (we are really into doughnuts). He did a quick search and saw that it got good reviews, so into the shop we went. He got an original glaze and I got strawberry with sprinkles. As we left and continued our walk, we ate our doughnuts with pleasure - so warm and tasty! Needless to say, 2 days later I went back and got 4 more doughnuts! Would definitely get them again the next time we are in town for a visit.

We had a weekend staycation in Waikiki and my in-laws mentioned that they enjoyed the donuts from Donut King. I decided to give it a try. I went in the evening around 4 pm, and I was the only there. I decided to get one donut since I didn't want to go crazy. I went ahead and shot for their Ube coconut donut. It was pretty good. It wasn't my style of donut batter but I appreciate the Ube flavor and coconut shavings. Service was good and ambiance was okay. This is more of a grab 'n go type of place.

Without reading any reviews prior to visiting Donut King, I never thought I'd stroll into here to try out. But thanks to Kona Coffee Purveyors across the street being so packed I decided to bend the knee to the King. We walked by it so many times and it just looked like a standard boring donut shop. Nothing spectacular on the exterior, no huge lines, no influencers recording and photo taking, just an average donut shop. But Donut King did not disappoint--the donuts had the perfect fluff and softness. They were really tasty donuts. What caught be off guard a bit was their croissant bites. Thought at first they were just small mini croissants but they're also glazed. Something definitely different about it--it was just really tasty overall. Either way, Donut King was definitely worth a stop in if you're craving donuts. Cheers

Some of the best coffee I had while in town! My husband and I popped in for a quick breakfast. We purchased two donuts, some donut holes, and a vanilla latte. Pricing was a little high, but it's also in the touristy area so that's expected. The service was great. Would come back!

While walking to Marugame Udon on Kuhio Avenue in Waikiki, I spied Donut King Waikiki. I peered into the small sized donut shop to see if it has the Cronut bites. The sweet employee informed me they had the bites available. The price was more than the Market City location. I picked up 6 pieces to go. I bit into one and I noticed the crunch and texture wasn't quite the same freshness as the Market City location. Good to note. Service was 5 stars. Ambiance is 3.5/5 stars. Clean but small location. Food: 3/5 stars

You wait in line, place your order at the register, step outside, and wait for your name to be called. Even with the constant crowds, I was impressed by how efficiently they operated. They have multiple registers open to take orders, so the line moves much faster than it looks. The pickup process was just as smooth, and I didn't feel like I was waiting very long. As for the food, everything we tried was delicious. It's one of those places where you really can't go wrong with the menu. The shop itself is on the smaller side, so it can feel a bit cramped while you're ordering. Fortunately, most people grab their food and go, which keeps things moving. Overall, despite the popularity and long lines, the efficient service and consistently good food make it well worth the wait. I don't really have a sweet tooth-I'm a no icing, no frosting kind of girl. I wouldn't dream of eating a cinnamon roll with icing, that's a no for me. But their donuts are delicious all the same and can definitely scratch the itch if you do have a sweet tooth. As someone who's vegan, it can be hard to find a dessert I actually feel good about, and this is one of those places. Everything is taro-based and cooked in coconut oil, which I really appreciate. Just a heads up-all of their donuts are taro donuts. The flavors come from the toppings, so if you see something like a strawberry one, the donut itself isn't strawberry--it's the topping. Their offerings change, ( they do have their core donuts that don't change-and I usually go for one "naked"--no glaze. Sometimes I'll get the honey and sea salt one. Right now they have a seasonal donut called Black Sabbath that's black sesame, brûléed banana. Every time I've been in, I'm greeted right away, and there's plenty of free parking. They get your order out super quick. If you don't want a whole donut--or you're eating in your car and don't want to make a mess--their little donuts called Holeys are the perfect pop-in-your-mouth option. The place has always be well kept and clean - and they have a very spacious, and equally as clean, bathroom. They also have an app where you can check the menu, keep track of your rewards, and manage gift cards, which makes it really convenient. Also, if you're not signed up for their rewards program, do it. You're basically passing up free donuts if you don't. Give them a go, share your experience and if your taste buds celebrated. SYOY! The bigger the malasadas size the more airy and fluffy and more bread layers that will be inside. 2. their malasadas always taste fresh and the same quality each time. 3. their malasadas don't feel oily or heavy at all Overall I would highly recommend this place for their Malasadas! I'm so happy to have found them. I can back multiple times on my trip. They also have other desserts too that I have yet to try. They have ice cream, cakes, and other desserts Also tip: if you are ordering a malasada also order a coffee or a matcha drink to go with it. The cinnamon sugar from the malasada just matches so perfectly with a drink this restaurant is also a nice place for walking! There's lot of stores and restaurants to walk around! I'm trying to remember but I think there was a book off that was not too far from here! If you either drive or maybe walk. Service: staff was super helpful and friendly while I was there. I was having an issue with my online order because my phone was being glitchy and they were so nice in helping :) Also wanted to note their branding is so cute!! They even sell merch items too

Everyone knows to go to Leonard's for freshly made malasadas, and the constant crowds there attest…read moreto their quality and variety (review: https://yelp.to/jaduiZfQRq). However, there are many alternative malasada purveyors throughout Honolulu, so I depended on local vloggers to find the best ones. This one popped up often on YouTube, and as luck would have it, we were dining at The Pig & The Lady on the next block. How calorifically convenient. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us. However, we let temptation get the best of us and shared a $5.50 slice of the Ube Haupia Mac Nut Bar, a yummy combination of sweet potato and ube topped with haupia (coconut milk pudding) on a macadamia nut crust (Photo 9). Truth be told, it stole the show from the malasadas. FOOD - 4 stars... the malasadas were good, but that ube dessert was next level AMBIANCE - 4 stars...really a takeout operation with a lot of temptations SERVICE - 4 stars...very calm and orderly TOTAL - 4 stars...yet another spot for sweet Hawaiian decadence RELATED - Exploring Hawaii?
