Donuts are excellent. Interior of the shop needs a serious upgrade. It is dank inside and they need A/C a good paint job etc...I will go for a donut sometimes but the ambience is bad. The parking is very tight. A new location with more open parking and good accessibility on from different sides of the street is in order. These things are what hold me back from going more often. So I go to other donut shops that are cleaner, brighter, has A/C and better accessibility and parking. The service is good. This is a cash only shop but they have an ATM inside. read more

Soooo... the donuts are 5 stars all day. Best in town donuts!! The cash only/ ATM situation sucks so minus a star - someone told me they take Apple Pay? Don't hold me to that though. The customer service is terrible, no stars! I hadn't been to Donut Nook for years, like 15+, I don't eat many donuts but for some reason I decided to stop in. There were maybe 5 customers in the store. A woman was at the counter ordering, there was tension and clearly the customer and employee (possibly owner?) weren't getting along - I didn't witness the beginning of their interaction. After she left the man loudly stated "that was the most toxic woman I've ever dealt with. My god she was absolutely terrible, what a vile woman"... etc, etc. He couldn't stop complaining about his interaction to the room in general. I understand the frustration of dealing with a rude customer (if she was?) but he handled the situation very unprofessionally, created a very unpleasant environment for everyone in the room. I went to buy 4 dozen donuts today to celebrate National Donut Day which is a Salvation Army holiday and my favorite day of the year. While I was standing in line I was amazed that there was no posters or promotional material for National Donut Day. The man in front of me mentioned the holiday and I said do you know how it started? The man working behind the counter said it was started by some idiot and he hated donut day. So I turned around and left! How rude! They are great and you won't find fresher donuts, since they make them here. Only donut place I've ever been to be on Krispy Kreme that made them in house. The two biggest issues besides the place looking like it's permanently closed anytime you pass by is that they only accept cash, which is completely okay, and they don't have appropriate containers for you to carry out Donuts. They put them in these Sierra Nevada pieces of cardboard that don't do anything whatsoever. So if you need a bunch of donuts and you need them to be boxed properly like every other donut shop in the world does, you're out of luck here. So you have to already know you're coming here before you leave your house to bring a large Tupperware type container or your Donuts will basically go everywhere in your car unless you hold them on your lap or have room on your floor to put them, which I never do. Literally the only donut shop I've ever been to that doesn't give you appropriate containers for your Donuts when you walk out with more than a couple. I've been a customer here for years, you can't deny the donuts are killer and probably the best in chico. I've been compliant with the inconvenience of them being cash only and accepted the customer service is not very friendly and all business; totally fine. Today hit a new low though and has me reconsidering if it's worth going here anymore. I went in just before 7:00, no other customers in the store. The woman behind the counter looked at me as I was walking in and headed to the back room. I continued walking towards the counter and waited, and waited, and waited. I honestly didn't feel like shouting back as the woman very clearly saw me. It was probably about 4 or 5 minutes of her chatting with the dude in the back about how skinny some lady was. I walked out got in my car and left. As I was pulling out I noticed her returning to the donut counter, seeing me, and looking confused. Seriously?! I really do avoid negative reviews and would much rather praise small businesses, but this was so blatantly rude I was dumbfounded. Maybe she thought I was someone else, I have no idea but it was so bizarre. It's not like she was even doing work stuff which I would've understood. They were just talking. A 24 hour Donut spot! You can't go wrong here. I stopped by with a friend a little before 3pm last Friday and got a wide selection of Donuts. All of them were quite tasty and unique. They are very filling and honestly we probably ordered way too many just judging by how massive they were. I have tried other Donut places around Chico and so far this one will have to stay as my favorite. The location is kind of a pain if your trying to get into it off of that intersection, but that's nothing too serious to complain about. Atmosphere: I remember the window that let's you watch the donuts being made. It reminded me of Krispy Kreme. The place has plenty tables and stools. I don't see stools anymore. Management needs to focus on training their staff to greet their customers and acknowledge them as soon as they approach the doors or in line.
