Can't say enough good things about this place! Friendly staff, cheap prices, and truly some of the best donuts I've ever had. Got a half dozen (buy six get one free) including a cinnamon twist, Bavarian cream filled cinnamon stack, maple bar, apple fritter with apple filling, blueberry fritter, and a glazed old fashioned and buttermilk bar. I am a cinnamon fanatic who never thinks there's enough cinnamon in desserts, especially cinnamon donuts. However, the amount of cinnamon in the cinnamon twist and bavarian filled cinnamon stack was truly mind blowing, wonderful, and plenty to satisfy me. The other donuts were equally as delicious, my favorite being the old fashioned. My husband said the maple bar and apple fritter may be the best he's ever had. My only critique was the buttermilk bar was on the drier side but I think it was just over baked (I'd still get it again next time because the flavor was great). Can't wait to come back here next time I'm in the area! read more

Some of the best donuts in Vancouver! We used to live up the street and frequented. Haven't been in years until today. They have these donuts called "stacks". They are soooo good. And they also have cream filled ones. You have to try them. The cream filled is next level. They have the best Bavarian cream ever. It was already noon when I was on this side of town so I called to see if they had anymore cream filled stacks and they had ONE left. Needless to say, I was on my way. When I got there, to my surprise, the lady working had put it aside for me. Such a nice gesture as I didn't specify I was on my way but she must've heard the excitement in my voice! lol Just as I remember them. So freaking delish!! Stopped in for a sweet treat after having lunch nearby. It's an old school building and atmosphere inside. They do have their own parking lot out front and a variety of seating options inside (couch area, bar with attached stools and a couple tables). Their donut case had a nice variety of donuts and flavors. When we were there they only had cherry fritters available. The looked delicious, but I was really hoping for an apple. I did see they had another favorite of mine, the Bavarian cream! I ended up getting one of those and it was delicious! The donut was nicely browned on the outside and soft on the inside. A lot more dough than I'm used to, or prefer, but definitely tasted fresh. The cream on the inside was super yummy, as well as the chocolate frosting on top. I'm kicking myself now, after reading other reviews, that I didn't get a maple bar too, for later. I'd also like to try their banana fritters and cinnamon stack donuts. Overall a nice experience. The pricing is comparable to other similar establishments and quality above par. The ambiance inside isn't appealing to me, but a great place to get donuts to-go! Would recommend. read more

Donut Nook has been in business for 46 years, and appears to have a dedicated and loyal following. It also appears to be a family-run establishment, and the people working there are all very kind and helpful. The donuts are also inexpensive, and Donut Nook has varieties that I've not seen at any other donut shop (such as the "cinnamon stack"). The flavor and quality of the donuts seem not to be quite as good as some of my other favorites. I'm particularly fond of the lemon filled, though, as the lemon filling seems to taste like it is made with real lemons and is light in color, quite different than the neon yellow artificial-tasting stuff that most donut shops use. The parking lot is basically parking spaces in front of the shop, and this area is very narrow and tricky to navigate. One must be very careful backing out because it is narrow enough that backing out can easily put drivers into the street. There is more room on the side of the building, but it is not clear if that parking is permissible for the donut shop, or if it is for the other businesses. If you're looking for a noteworthy lemon-filled donut, I'd recommend coming to Donut Nook. read more

Of course, you don't need bonus cheer when tempted by donuts, yet, the warm welcome still warms my heart ... and review. The fritters are hailed as the "thing" to get at Donut Nook ... and I agree. You can taste real fruit in the fritters of soft layers covered in a sweet glaze. The Cherry Fritter may be the most famous and it is indeed tasty; however, I loved the Apple Fritter with yummy chunks of apple. As for the donuts ... well, they literally put the "dough" in doughnuts by being the breadiest most dough-y donuts I've had in a long time. A sweet-frosted Maple Bar was my favorite thanks a thick lather of sweet other word mapleness. Two similar offerings were a regular Chocolate Bar and another Chocolate Bar with Sprinkles. The version with sprinkles was the more fun of the pair. Donut Nook is a popular local Vancouver hangout. I've tried this place 3 times and I have had the same experience each visit. (Show up around 7:00am each time, which should be when they are the freshest) I always get the baker's dozen and get a random assortment. I bring them back home and everyone says the exact, same thing. "These taste like day old donuts." Every, single one of them tasted old. The long Johns, the fritters, the twists, the filled, and the cake donuts. I have tried desperately to find something that was good at this place and I have tried nearly every donut but each time it's just dense, stale, and dry.
