I just came in and picked up a half dozen donuts this evening so we could have them in the morning. With the construction it's really been out of the way when everyone is rushing in the mornings. I got home and opened the box to find that they added in a pile of delicious donut holes!!! Great way of packing them in. It's little things like this that every other place can't compete. Traffic be damned I will be coming at least one morning a week moving forward. Hands down best donuts around here and customer service that makes it worth the construction mess! They have the best donuts in town. If you're looking for high quality, balanced, whole made donuts, then this is your place. The prices are fairly reasonable and they have a large selection of ways to get your donut on. They even sell bottled milk. There is booth seating and a nice view of the dig site formerly known as Ina Road. Also, they run a very clean operation. They PASSED inspection with flying colors. Their kitchen windows can close fully and are unbroken. There is no evidence of water damage, ceiling cave-ins, infestation, or bird feces draping all surfaces--like one might find in a cave. I only mention this because I've heard that hard monsoon rains in Tucson can SUDDENLY trigger such events in local donut vendors. I'm happy to inform that this is not the case here. Donut Wheel on Ina just east of I 10 is marvelous, absolutely the best pastries I've had in Arizona, p,us the lady who works there is super nice. Apple Fritter: The Apples have so much flavor, which is rare for a fritter. Blueberry cake: I can't stand mixes with Fake Blueberries. I don't even care that this had them. This is THE best donut I got. The flavor is intense! I purchased that donut for my dog, so I only got one bite. I should have bought 2. Old Fashioned: This was also for my dog - I'm not a fan of this style. It's plain and boring and has less sugar. But it is deep friend and dog approved! What a delicious treat! We stopped here very early in the morning on our way to Saguaro National Park. These donuts were fabulous! You'll find a lot of classic flavors, and I highly recommend the yeast ones. They're fluffy and plump just like I like 'em! Great icing on the chocolate and maple flavors. I've been coming here off and on for years, and have always had great quality donuts. I don't know of the other reviewers had bad luck or what......although one review had a man getting donuts at 8pm (Really? Not the freshest at 8pm? They were probably made well before 6am, so do you really expect the freshest product later at night? Are they expected to make multiple batches for the night-donut people?) Any-who....I've never had problems with freshness, or quality of service for that mater. The people below must have come in at an off day or something, I've never experienced rudeness that they spoke of. I buy a dozen or two for holidays that I have to work, so that my co-workers may enjoy some of the deliciousness. On Thanksgiving (or Easter) they always say Happy Thanksgiving (or Easter)! Rudest owners ever!! Just went to donut wheel for the first time because I keep hearing about how great the donuts are there. My friend and I walked in and there was no one else in line, so it wasn't like we were holding up anyone but the female owner was so abrasive and short with us and extremely defensive when we asked about the freshness of the donuts since it was 8pm. She basically yelled at us saying "what do you think? These were just made!" How the hell am I supposed to know that they were just made?? RUDE. I just moved into this area from the other side of town, and when I saw there was a Donut Wheel close to my house I thought, "sweet!! " because the Donut Wheel by my house on the other side of town on Kolb had awesome donuts. I just bought a half dozen donuts and I was sorely disappointed. My buttermilk donuts didn't have much flavor and the texture was more like bread than a donut. I was thinking, these must be day old donuts, but I really think they were more like 2 day old donuts! More like 3.5 stars. I was not impressed with the selection of Donuts. Because, really when you're buying for a group of people, 10 types isn't going to do it for me. But, I was fine with the whole jelly filled, white/sprinkles. Got one of my 6 donuts wrong, but thats cool, 16% isn't bad...in some places. I love this place. I have been going here for maybe 20 years. It is the ONLY good place for donuts in the NW. I usually go here after dinner for desert. Yes, the selection at 8PM is less than at 8AM, but 90% of the time I find what I am after. They are always making new donuts during the day. The lady who works there is very friendly and talkative. Do not misinterpret her very direct style of communication for rudeness. She is anything but. Yah however, the two guys who work there will not be mistaken for Starbucks Baristas. Go there. Give this place a lot of business. Esp at night. We stopped in for a dozen and it was under $10 (woohoo), love their cake donuts. These donuts do not go stale after one day, they are yummy the next day also. Quick to sever you and open long hours. Swing by. Nothing fancy, but heck even the most fancy donut places, their donuts go stale quickly. To get there from the Freeway (until Ina road exit is open). Heading North - Exit Sunset/Orange Grove and take the frontage road to Orange Grove, head East and take a left on Thornydale, head north and take a left on Ina, follow the signed to the start of construction and Donut wheel will be on your Right.
