I called two other places close to my hotel. One didn't return my call and the other was booked solid. A friend suggested Innovative (which used to be Crossways). I called and brought the car in the same day. They put it up on the lift, checked the wear on the brake pads, checked the hoses and, within 20 minutes, I was good to go, reassured that I would make it home without a breakdown. I offered to pay for their time and trouble. They just wished me a good trip home. I'd been told they were honest mechanics but didn't expect generosity. What a wonderful surprise.
