From start to finish everything was excellent. Talked to John when we first walked in. Eddie came to the counter and asked us how he could help. We really were lost and kind of not sure where to even start. Eddie walked us thru the process and eventually we settled on a wide hinged door. We went from pivoting to hinged and could not decide. Eddie showed us so many options and we ended up with what we think is the best door possible. Price, delivery and installation went flawlessly. As you can tell we could not be happier with our door choice, with Doors ETC and with Eddie. Eddie also made sure we got a door handle that fit the size of the door. Eddie also made sure it matched the interior because you can see by the pictures we were going with brass inside. Everything from measuring our space. UPDATE to response - Apologies, they offered fiberglass door, not aluminum, but that is still considerably cheaper than what I paid for. The manufacturer didn't cover it stating checking/cracking was normal with direct sunlight, but there is no direct sunlight. I had two of my own finishers come out and both clearly stated the door shouldn't have been splitting open, especially within a year. And the finisher sent by Doors, etc was supposed to fix the checking as best he could, not spray paint a naturally stained door. UPDATE - It was recommended that I reach out to John, the owner, so I did that. I'd seen nearly a year chasing him down trying to get responses and also he offered an aluminum door as a replacement I was not ok with replacing a Walnut wood door with something that was a fraction of the cost and could never match in looks. All I wanted was support for the dealer I purchased the door from to get a warranty replacement, which I should have been entitled to. His solution initially was to send one of his guys out that could supposedly make the door look much better, so I agreed. It took 4 months for that person to come out and use a spray can to paint what was once a beautiful, natural walnut door, and the checking (cracking) was still there. After seeing what was done I reached back out to John and he said get all your correspondence with his guy and Simpson, the manufacturer together and send it to him and he'll see what he can do. After sending him everything he responded back again offering the fiberglass door, to which I declined and asked for him to do what he offered now that I took the time to get everything together and send to him and he is no longer responding. Walked in with a list of questions about needing a new door for the front and back of my house I'm remodeling. Was completely ignored for at least 10 minutes and the place was deserted of customers. While I was perusing, the items on display didn't look very well made and a bit on the cheap side. Older man finally approaches, perhaps manager/owner, and says "what do you want?" We have used this company twice now originally my in-laws recommended them. We love their work. All the recommendations were fabulous we did our front door originally we just put in three big sliding glass doors and for new windows with them. Their on site installers was amazing. We ordered 2 doors from owner John D. Porter via our GC (general contractor) Tom Grunow construction. One, a lift and slide (a high-end specialty slider) and the other a set of French doors. My husband met with them personally, and explained exactly what was required and how the doors would be used. Both have been a disappointment. Doors Etc failed to deliver as specified. The lift and slide arrived without a handle on the outside, just the inside. When approached for a solution, the response was vague and noncommittal. Phone calls were not returned. After several months' delay, my husband and our GC gave up on Porter, and we fabricated our own solution Independently of Porter. Now Porter is ducking us again, making excuses for not correcting his mistakes made with the French doors. They were installed without the specified hardware and design. This has been going on for over a year. Again, no calls returned. My husband and I decided to make a visit to Doors, Etc. on Monday, 4/1/2019. Porter was out of the office, so we waited for his return. Upon his return around 4:30 PM, he took us to his workshop. The etching was done and it looked good. Replacement doors had arrived. The specified hardware had arrived too, but he couldn't find it. He promised it would be ready within two weeks. Time will tell. I will update this review Later. Bottom line is, due to lack of listening to our requirements and delays in correcting h oversights, I would NOT recommend this company. read more

We needed a Dutch Door. I called Doors, Etc., and spoke to Chris. Chris gave me name of an installer (Jesse, good guy) from whom to get proper measurements, then told me to call him back to arrange purchase of the door. I followed instructions precisely. Then, MULTIPLE calls and messages to Chris went unreturned. I hate begging people to take my money. Avoid Chris, and if he's typical of their representatives, I suggest you avoid this company alltogether. read more

John, the owner of Doors Etc really impressed me....he is a true business owner and extremely cares about reputation of his store. John was unaware about my prior experience until he saw my prior review, which I am proudly updating. This is partially my fault as I could have asked for Randy's supervisor/manager and raise my concern directly with him/her before I posted my review. That being said, after reading my review John persistently called me as he truly wanted to correct the issue. After multiple left messages I called him back. John was very apologetic for this miscommunication and unprofessional treatment from Randy and he was ready to reimburse me for the extra costs I incurred. I explained in greater detail that we consumers don't buy doors and windows on daily basis and their thorough explanation of the product is necessary. I told John that at this state of affairs I dont think that reibursement of money helps me in any way, but I do need my front door to be installed. John knows that there are plenty of other stores we can buy windows and doors from so he was more than keen to help me with this installation. Within 2 days he personally came to my house to see the front door and validate the measurements. I explained that I could have bought this door at his place but I chose not to because of my experience with Randy. John scheduled his workers to come and install the door, which was not as straight forward process because the security doors needed to be taken out and reinstalled. It took his guys 5 and a half hours to complete the job. They were professional, pleasant, they cleaned after themselves and even took my old door away. When my husband wanted the guys to redo the security doors in a bit different way, they had no problem taking them down again and support my husband's request, which added an extra hour to finish the job. AMAZING!!! Absolutely fantastic crew. Kudos to John and his men. THANK YOU!!! I totally understand that we, people have our moments, moods, problems, health issues etc... and we need to be more conscientious and aware of everybody's state of mind without pressing judgments too quickly.....maybe, just maybe Randy just wasn't himself when he spoke with me....Unfortunately, USA is such a service driven economy with fierce competition....and, we, the consumers are so demanding of good customer service. Today the gentleman called back and said did anyone contact me I explained no one had. He said let me give you their contact information. I'm giving this company 3 stars. Here are my reasons: 1. Almost all of our windows came with scratches or dings in the vinyl, and one window has a large scratch in between the two panes of glass. When I asked for a partial refund as I was unhappy with my purchase, they said to ask Milgard (their window supplier) for the refund. I did so, and Milgard said that Doors Etc. should handle it. It will be replaced, however, we will have to wait for another month to get it replaced (which is Milgard's fault, not the window company). While the windows are good quality and from a distance, they look GREAT. I'm just a little disappointed in how some of our complaints were handled, but mainly the installation process how scuffed up our windows got. read more

BEWARE!!! I live in the neighborhood so I thought I would support a local business by buying my two home exterior doors and hardware at Doors Inc of Morena BLVD. The customer services was a joke once the doors and hardware were delivered, one of the handles was broken. When I tried to return the handle for an exchange or refund, they told me simply NO. They then added insult to the situation by trying to blame my contractor for the handle that was delivered broken. Not true. It came broken and bent in the box. Bottom line Doors Etc sells inferior products, over charges for them, and then refuses to back them up with a refund or exchange. I would NEVER go near this store if you value your time and money. read more

Typically when buying doors and windows for my remodel projects, I go to Home Depot. This project I decided to try doors, etc. One of the best decisions I have made so far in my remodeling career. Having your licensed contractor, installer and sales representative on the same page is the key to success! Absolutely spectacular job. Started with my contractor Rich at Construction Management of San Diego that recommended Chris & Byron at Doors Ect. Rich reviewed the scope of the project and reviewed the site with Bryon the installer and did the measurements and discussed the challenges and set the expectations. With the advice of Rich & Brian we sent the measurements over to Chris and discussed the products I was looking for. We went with the amazing Fleetwood windows. The house was built in 1960 with a second story addition that all hangs over a canyon. So there were challenges that were addressed up front and the corrections were made to make sure all the windows were installed properly. Working from home I was able to watch every step of the entire process. True professionals and local good people. Very organized on the work site and cleaned up and organized every day. My wife and walked into Doors Etc looking for some expertise beyond what offered in big box stores. The project scope was new replacement windows and interior doors for our home. We worked with Matt Paasch. The whole experience was great! The showroom is arranged so you can gather the look and feel and Matt was knowledgeable, professional and presented all of our options clearly. From there Matt came out to our house and worked with our contractor on gathering measurements and ensuring that the process was done correctly. As many construction projects go we had to make a couple pivots and Matt was right on top of it to make sure that the windows were going to fit properly. Just great! Their prices seem to be on par with other retailers. However, if you want a timely response, this is not the company for you. I went to the show room 2 weeks ago and Matt helped me with obtaining a quote for a front door. We also need closet doors for the project, but I didn't have any dimensions, so I sent him an email last Friday(1 week ago) with dimensions. I followed it up with a phone call later in the day, only to find out he wouldn't be back till next Wednesday. Another salesman, John asked me to forward the email to him and he would quote me. That is the last time I have had communications with them. Over the last week, I have sent 3 emails, left a voicemail, called twice(John and Matt weren't available) and still no response. The really sad part, is that I haven't even placed my order yet. It scares me to think about how the customer service would be if there was a problem with the order. read more

My husband and I did a massive remodel on our old Bay Ho home and we needed windows, exterior and interior doors for the project. The customer service has been above and beyond what you would get at any big box store. Weird, the only other review here is one star, but my experience with them was simply great. We replaced all of our interior doors with solid-core doors, and added some high-end sliding mirror doors for our master closets. Pricing was decent, follow-up was outstanding (much better than I'm used to with contractors), and their installers did a great job - everything is hung perfectly. Do yourself a favor and move on. This place is a total rip off, the products they sell are inferior and they do not stand behind what they sell. I spent thousands with this company and have doors that wont seal, windows that are impossible to close. There are many companies selling doors and windows, do yourself a favor and go anywhere but here. As an update, the windows are Marvin a respectable brand. Marvin sent out a tech that resolved the window issues, I had to go around Doors Etc to get to Marvin. The french doors would not seal properly, but again i went around Doors Etc and Cobb came out and fixed the doors in 10 minutes (and they sent the bill to Doors Etc) My garden window was not installed properly, manu came out and I dont know what they said to Doors Etc, but they were soon out cutting stucco and redoing the installation. Great service, we ordered a custom door from Home Depot and it was suppose to take 10 days to arrive, it ended up taking 21 days to arrive and it was the wrong size and wrong door handle cuts. We called Doors Etc and they told us to bring the door we were replacing and they measured it exactly the same and got the door in 2 days. Their price was also lower than Home Depot. We went to Doors, Etc after reading Yelp reviews, when looking for doors/windows for a remodel. We were very pleased with service from John, Kelly and Randy. They made recommendations which we would never have considered: fiberglass for south facing front door, lower window openings to preserve the view but allow air circulation for NW facing view windows. John had staff come out to look at our house before we ordered to take measurements and to come up with the best solutions. We have had some issues, which are manufacturer related, Randy immediately followed up with the rep, who called us. I consider this type of service the kind you want for items you don't deal with much. read more

Not sure why John would waste a good part of an afternoon walking around our house, opining on older homes, their charm, his experience with them. Then never communicate with us again. I was referred to Doors Etc by a good friend who had great things to say about them. While I would love to think that was true, my experience with them was anything but great. After my initial consultation with Matt, I left the store/showroom feeling confident in his ability to order and install a new front door for me. My order was pretty straight forward. Matt said he would send me a quote in a few days via email. When I didn't get anything from him a week later, I called him and he stated that 'things got busy' and that he was 'waiting to hear back from the supplier' and was still working on it. The next week, I called and emailed and again was told that he would get it to me in a few days. Almost 3 weeks later I received a quote via email. I told Matt I wanted to order the door. He said he wanted to get a sample of the finish from the supplier and that we should wait to order until then. To make a long story short, my last email to Matt was in February 2017 asking if he still wanted my business. He apologized for the delay and stated that he was still trying to get a sample and would try and get me discount due to the delay. This was on Feb 17, 2017. I have not heard anything from him to date (April 2017). The whole experience left me super frustrated due to the 3 months I wasted waiting for Matt to get his act together. Don't know if I'll ever understand how a business could let a customer slip away and take their business elsewhere. **** UPDATE-- May 9, 2017 - Writing an update to say that Jon, the owner, reached out to me to discuss my not so great experience. He was very apologetic about the lack of follow through with the sales person and seemed genuinely concerned about the reputation of his small business. I have to respect that and it certainly goes a long way. Left me thinking that perhaps my experience was just an unfortunate one and not the typical customer experience. While I went ahead and purchased my door with another company before I spoke to Jon, I would definitely consider giving Doors, Etc another try if I ever needed another door or window.
