Got a steak pie and a Jaffa cake for later. The pie had a great flaky crust, and the meat filling was very flavorful. I was expecting a few more vegetables in the filling, though. The Jaffa cake was good as well. Prices are on the high side, but the quality is high and I would still recommend it.

Stumbled upon this spot because we needed to use a restroom but WOW, we were shocked how much we loved the pies. We originally got 2 and then went back to buy more. The lamb pie, lentil pie, and apple pie were all superb!

ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. Nothing more to say. The lentil mushroom is TO DIE FORRRRRR. The butter chicken is INCREDIBLE. The ground beef and cheese equally amazing. They dough is perfect in every way. The flavors exceed expectations. You won't be disappointed. Go go gooooo

This place is amazing! We came here on a Friday after hearing about this place and we liked it so much we came back on Saturday and also bought some frozen pies to take home. The crust is perfectly flaky and buttery, not too flaky and not too buttery and is the perfect thickness and texture for accentuating the fillings inside. But what makes these standout is the fillings. They're an explosion of perfectly balanced flavors, and you can really tell that they were made with care. We talked to the owner and he says he sources his ingredients locally which we really appreciate, he says the beef is from a ranch near Bishop and he also gets bones to boil the beef stock to make the gravies. We tried pretty much every flavor they had, every single flavor was superb but personally here's how I rank the pies: 1) Lamb - Lamb is often tough or gamey, but this lamb was neither. Each chunk was moist and tender and perfectly seasoned. The gravy it was in was phenomenal. If you like lamb or are even just okay on lamb this is a must try. 2) Steak - Besides just meat, the inside of the steak was more like a shepherd's pie. There was peas and potatoes, and the meat was perfect. 3) Ground Beef and cheese - The beef had a really nice deep flavor, you can taste it's high quality ground beef. 4) Butter chicken - This is a hot take because I think he said butter chicken is one of their most popular flavors, and I can see why. The chicken is perfectly cooked and the flavor is great. 5) Lentil - Okay this one was actually really good, I'm just a meat eater so of course it's going to be bottom of my list but if you're just going to get two I think this pairs well with the lamb. The sausage roll was also really good, the sausage was not some cheap sausage there was real meaty flavor to it. If you have the room in your stomach I would definitely add on a sausage roll. Unfortunately they were out of apple pie and the potato top when we were there, but I definitely want to try that next time.

There aren't many food options in June Lake, but this place immediately caught my eye and I'm so glad I went to try it. I ordered a steak pie (delicious!) and a hot chai (was okay). I've been pleasantly surprised with the food in June Lake and will be back.

This New Zealand meat pie shop is located in June Lake. Their pies were downright delicious!! At only $13, the personal-sized pies come out ultra fresh and warm, with a flaky, buttery crust and with a range of tasty, melt-in-your-mouth fillings. The lamb pie was filled generously with protein. This one came out fresh from the oven, so that first bite was just pure bliss. Also ordered was the butter chicken which was so, so creamy and incredibly comforting. They also serve coffee and are open as early as 7AM. They feature largely savory pies, but they have a few sweet varietals too. A welcome addition to the June Lake area, to be sure!

So many people in Mammoth said not to miss this place. So we made the drive in the snow and it didn't disappoint! Located not far from the main road, it's a quaint little shop. The girl behind the counter greeted us with a smile and recommended the steak and butter chicken pies. We ordered those and were glad we did! The crusts were amazing! So buttery and fresh. The steak had a nice hearty sauce and meat was so tender. The butter chicken was amazing, tender and full of flavor. So well made! We decided to order cheesecake with lemon curd. Once again we were pleased with our choice. Soft and full of flavor, with a tasty graham cracker crust. The selection of warm teas and coffee were a bonus. Now we know why so many others love this place. Don't miss out!!

Assortment of frozen pies to go!

They have officially moved from their location in Bishop to June Lake! And while it's now an extra 20 minute drive up north from Mammoth, it is still and forever will be a priority to stop by and pick up some pies! The pies no matter which one you try (we've tried them all!), are all delicious. They stuffed with local meats and the puff pastry is so buttery and flakey. The staff is super friendly and very inviting. Dulcie (owner) always greets you with a smile. The ambiance is nice and clean. The display of pies and desserts as soon you enter capture your eye. So get yourself a warm pie, a sausage roll, and a caramel bar, take a seat facing the make road of June Lake and enjoy the nice warm meal. So happy for Pino Pies to have a brick and mortar location again! June Lake has gained a gem!

The best meat pie I have ever had! The ground beef and cheese pie was incredibly delicious. The crust was perfectly crisp and light, the filling was made with locally sourced beef from Bishop, and the cheese added just the right amount of gooey goodness. The owners were so kind, welcoming, and informative, which made the experience even better. We picked up our pies to go, and they were still hot by the time we got back to our place down the street. We will definitely be returning to try more flavors!

Stopped by here randomly while we were in the area. Pot pies were delicious! We tried the steak and chicken. Puff pastry was super flaky. Service very friendly. We liked the pies so much we decided to buy two of the other savory meat pies and an apple for take and bake dinner in our camper later that evening. The caramel bar is also really good (but pretty sweet). After trying all the savory pies my husband and I agreed on our favorite being the lamb with the chicken coming in second. Super cute interior and a nice little outdoor patio. The patrons dog friendly but dogs are not allowed inside.

Just stop here!! The hot meat pies hit the spot. The crust is super flaky and delicious. My favorite is the butter chicken. I grabbed a few frozen ones to share with friends. So, so good!

Ask the Community - Pino Pies

Hi! July 1, passing through, where will your truck be? Would love to take some pies to Mammoth with us.

How does one tell the difference between beef pie or chicken pie? May I please have cooking instructions for meat pies?

Bake in oven @375 for 15 mins comes out perfect

How to cook a frozen pino pie?

The shop will give you a card with instructions, a stack of them is on the cash register. About an hour at 350, or when juices start to bubble out. I bake on a tray.

Do you make a gluten free pie? I'm sure your crust is part of the magic but hoping you've experimented with gf options. :)

Hello. So no but yes, we don't have any gluten free pies but if you stop by Tuesday or Wednesday we can sell you some of the pie filling without the crust.they are gluten free and are thickened with with tapioca starch. We are also working on…

    Do you ship your pies?

Yes we do! (it is probably more economical to order a dozen or more pies to make it worth the postage) Usually ships 2 day shipping. with dry ice or packs. call for a quote to your zip code. (424) 3958610. Dulcie

This has a very casual, family friendly, outdoorsy ambiance. Once indoors, Chase and Blaise took great care of us. It was already a few minutes past their weekend closing time of 8 pm but Chase still offered us a sample with an unhurried smile and kept the door open for a few more minutes. When we saw the flavor options in the bins, we noted they were out of our favorite type but Chase happily reassured us there was more and without hesitation opened a new container of ice cream just for us while joking that he would eat the best part of the new container (the extra cookies crunched into the top of the container). We ordered our pint of delicious ice cream then Blaise checked us out at the register. It was a beautiful evening to sit at their tables but we left to eat it because we had others who were waiting at the cabin to consume it as well. If we were eating outside, I'd try to convince my group to order the 4 flavor flight! The 2026 posted summer hours were 12-8 Friday- Saturday and 12-7 Sunday- Thursday. The ice cream servers allowed us to use their images and names in my review.

Once getting to the counter to order, the lady helping me didn't seem that pleasant. As a matter of fact, no one at the sandwich counter was smiling or seemed like they had a good attitude. I ordered a Turkey Club Sandwich and the BBQ turkey sandwich. Once my mom and I got to the register, it took a LONG time before the employee at the register (Ruiz) rang us up. She seemed like she was doing other tasks and had no urgency WHATSOEVER in continuing to help the next customer in such a LONG line. Once she finally got to the register, the first thing I did was point to the Turkey Club box to let her know it was Turkey club and she immediately CUT ME OFF and said, "I know what it is" and then a second later said, "oh I didn't realize there wasn't a label." She was incredibly SNAPPY and didn't smile, which ruined my day. Overall, I wasn't content with the service at the sandwich counter. The inadequate service plus the BBQ turkey sandwich to be BARELY adequate, was completely underwhelming. Later on, I went to the area with all the baked goods and was excited to see the vast selection! The ladies there were very warm, super forthcoming to help, and absolutely pleasant. Marie was incredibly patient with all my questions and requests for everything I picked out. I was happy with her service since she was very sweet and pleasant. In conclusion, if you're expecting phenomenal service from the sandwich counter, keep your expectations extremely LOW. You'll have better luck at the bakery.
