A 12+ ON A SCALE OF 10!!!! We just finished our most perfect dinner in years at the Restaurant at Convict Lake. The ambiance of the dining room is cozy, rustically elegant and perfectly on par with its spectacular presence at beautiful Lake Convict. Our service from Daniel was attentive, frequent and professional; we especially appreciated hearing his personal recommendations from the menu and his descriptions of the evenings specials. I had the Jalapeño Tomato cream soup - which brought some HEAT!! I also had the ribeye special with divers scallops. My wife ordered AND LOVED the trout. WE LOVED IT SO MUCH ~ we are going back TOMORROW!!!!! ABSOLUTELY STELLAR IN EVERY WAY Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!

The one and only restaurant located inside Convict Lake Resort and 5 minutes away from Convict Lake itself! You'll see the locals coming here and how that makes the restaurant come into life every evening. Location aside, this restaurant has a very cozy vibe which wooden exterior and interior, all big windows surrounding the restaurants and elegant booth seating areas. I can imagine coming here during the winter season and looking out of the windows to see falling snowflakes while sipping on my hot beverage. We rented a cabin at Convict Lake Resort and had prepared all our food with us. However, after cooking for ourselves for 2 days, we grew tired and decided to eat out. Why not? A quick research and we were surprised of how many great reviews this restaurant had. Because this was an impromptu thing, we couldn't make any reservation. We decided to go early around 5:30pm. Luckily the bar area was open on a first come first serve basis. At 5:30pm, the bar area was almost filled too with people without reservations like us. We were lucky to be able to grab one of the last few open tables. Our server, though very busy himself, was attentive and made sure to take our orders and bring out our food in a timely manner. I appreciated that a lot! We ordered burgundy escargot for appetizer, rack of lamb and beef Wellington for main dishes and crème brûlée for dessert. We were blown away by the burgundy escargot! OMG it smelt heavenly! It came out like a pillowy pie which you have to tap it open. As soon as it cracked and showed the interior, a heavenly smell came out that attracted attention of many of our neighbors. One of them even came over and asked which dish was it. The escargots inside were tender yet tasty and matched so well with the buttery pie exterior! They were super juicy as well. I'm still drooling now as I'm writing this and recalling the amazing escargot dish. Our main dishes, however, shined a bit less than the escargot appetizer. They were good but nothing spectacular. We loved the portion sizes and how everything was tastefully presented. Honestly, for a restaurant located near Convict Lake area like this, this restaurant exceeded my expectations. We definitely will come back for sure to try other dishes and make sure to make reservations next time :)

If you're looking for fine dining in Mammoth Lakes, I highly recommend this restaurant which we've been coming to for over 30 years. While the menu doesn't change that often, it's always solid and well executed. And they have one of the best wine list in the area (you can also BYOB for a very reasonable corkage fee). Definitely save room for the bananas foster dessert which is also a fun experience to watch them make tableside. Service has always been fantastic.

This restaurant is surrounded by the Convict Lake Resort and has beautiful grounds. We witnessed deer walking around while dining. Service was professional and knowledgeable once we were seated. The welcome, however, was not warm or friendly. The food made up for our initial hesitation. The tomato bisque was perfectly balanced and served with a cheese crisp. The mouthwatering pear & endive salad was crisp and served with crispy prosciutto, candied walnuts and crumbled blue cheese tossed in a creamy blue cheese vinaigrette. I highly recommend the outstanding Beef Wellington, a filet mignon and wild mushroom duxelles in puff pastry-served with a bourbon glace de veau. It arrived perfectly medium rare as requested.

We were a bit surprised to find such an upscale restaurant at this resort. We made reservations as was recommended and enjoyed a relaxed two hour dinner. Cherise was a personable and attentive server. Hubby had the Kentucky Manhattan with Woodford Reserve, Amaretto, and cherry. I had the blueberry mule (non alcoholic). The bread was served warm and was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. We split a Caesar salad; the romaine was crisp and the croutons were obviously house made. Hubby had the Steak Frites. He ordered it medium rare but it was a little more on the rare side but he did like it. I had the fettuccine with pesto. The serving size was perfect - not too big so I could finish it. For dessert, we split the apple strudel and it was a perfect ending to the meal. While the restaurant menu was upscale, the ambience was more casual - not necessary to dress up.

Food is absolutely fantastic. We tried the Beef Wellington and the New Zealand Lamb Chop. A definite repeat for these. The food presentation was amazingly beautiful and the Caesar Salad was perfect. Our server was Janice who was also the bartender and she did a nice job of waiting on us. Ambiance is casual and clean. A few notes about our first time experience here - The dining room was completely booked for the holiday weekend yet seating is available in the bar area on a first come first serve basis. We waited in line for the restaurant to open at 5pm and immediately went for a high top table in the open bar seating, however, Janice refused the two of us to sit at the high top saying the table is meant for four people and we would only be allowed to sit at the bar. We complied with Janice's instructions sitting at the bar, placing our dinner order - only to turn around and find two people sitting at the high top we wanted... What a BACKWARDS-BACKFIRE experience. As Janice said, don't worry I will take good care of you. And at the end of our meal, Janice did absolutely "nothing" for us. One would think that saying "I'm going to take good care of you" would have been a drink on the house or even a dessert since bar service was forced. I would have given five stars but what we were put through by Janice, then seeing two people seated is out right wrong in many ways. Shame on this crappy situation.

This is literally a hidden gem nestled in Convict Lake. I stopped by to celebrate a friend's birthday while staying in Mammoth and this might be the best restaurant around. Very cute restaurant with the nicest server's ever! The menu is elegant with some high quality items and the food speaks for itself. Seriously top notch and a surprising find in the Mammoth lakes area. Definitely worth a checking out!

Phenomenal!!! Live in the area and haven't been here in about 15 years, I've been missing out. The service from Wayne was top notch, he kept our waters filled and made great suggestions from the menu. We tried a few different items and our fav is the beef Wellington, way better than Hells Kitchen in Las Vegas. Crème Brûlée was so good as well. No complaints about anything at all, couldn't have asked for a better evening to celebrate my brother's birthday. We were seated next to a fireplace that created a most pleasant evening with the glistening of the lights outside. Will definitely be back soon! Thanks again Wayne and staff!!

I made a point of having dinner at the Restaurant at Convict Lake here because some good friends dine here frequently. I started with a Grey Goose martini and the sourdough bread is delicious. My crab and Argentine shrimp cake blew me away! Perfectly cooked and so flavorful. I had the rainbow trout without the cashew crust and the carmelized butter sauce is divine. The highlight was my service Cherise. She is professional, friendly and efficient.

I had specifically asked to substitute the rice, but it was still served -- and there was a hair in it, which is absolutely unacceptable from a hygiene standpoint. The kids' burger was overcooked to the point of being dry like a cracker, and the fries looked and tasted like they were cooked in old, repeatedly used oil. This is unsafe and unacceptable, especially for children's food. The steak was ordered medium well, but was served well done -- completely overcooked. The chimichurri sauce was also misleading: instead of the classic green sauce, a red mixture was served that had nothing to do with it. The coleslaw was simply awful. Additionally, the staff showed no proper response -- we were not offered a replacement, a discount, or even a proper apology. This reflects a complete disregard for service standards and customer care. In its current state, this does not meet even basic restaurant standards.

Expecting customers to tip before they have evaluated the service or even laid eyes on their food is a highly objectionable business practice. This policy is especially frustrating when the subsequent service and food quality fail to justify that forced investment. As out-of-town visitors, we found the pub completely unaccommodating. There were zero instructions on how to order, making it feel exclusively geared toward locals who already know the routine. We had to flag down a staff member wiping tables outside just to learn we needed to scan a QR code. The service we received after being forced to tip was incredibly disappointing. Our beet salad arrived first, but the runner dropped it off and vanished so quickly that we couldn't ask for a second silverware setting. Since we intended to share the salad, we had to wait. The salmon plate didn't arrive until roughly 15 minutes later. When we finally managed to ask our waiter for the extra silverware, he treated a basic hospitality request as a major inconvenience. Getting a simple fork felt like pulling teeth. The value for the price is simply not there. The grilled salmon plate was remarkably small--well under three ounces of fish. To make matters worse, the accompanying vegetables consisted of literally three skinny asparagus spears and two even thinner carrots. Between the aggressive upfront tipping, the small portion fish size, and the dismissive attitude of the staff, this establishment has massive room for improvement. I am leaving a two-star rating in hopes that management will reconsider their ordering system and address these glaring service deficiencies.

Super friendly, attentive, and took the time to walk us through the beer options while we already had our food picked out. Service like that makes a difference. We started with the mushroom soup (soup of the day). It was fully blended and smooth -- no big chunks -- and while it wasn't the most memorable soup ever, it definitely hit the spot after being out in the cold all day. The Oyster Rockefeller was the highlight. Perfectly done. The oysters tasted fresh, the spinach flavor came through nicely, and the crispy topping added the perfect crunch. I planned to have just one... ended up eating two. For the main, we ordered the steak medium well. It came out more charred on the outside than expected, so it wasn't amazing, but still solid. The fries were great though -- especially paired with beer. Overall, the food was good but not extraordinary. However, the service -- especially from Alonso -- really elevated the experience. Because of that, and the cozy post-snowboard vibe, this earns 5 stars.

We arrived and were greeted warmly by our host and seated at a table in front of the fireplace. The restaurant is very small and cozy. Our server took our drink orders and brought out a bread basket. We all ordered the following: - Soup of the day (loaded baked potato) - short rib fries - oven roasted Frenched chicken breast - chicken Parmesan - pan seared chinook salmon - shrimp scampi There was a small hiccup when my 10-year-old son noticed another table had been served chicken tenders and fries. We weren't offered a kids' menu, so he had ordered chicken Parmesan from the regular menu. Not a huge issue, but it would have been nice to know kid-friendly options were available. Unfortunately, service timing became more of a problem toward the end of the meal. After we had mostly finished eating, our server asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. We said yes, and I gently reminded her we were celebrating a birthday. When she returned, she brought a complimentary birthday dessert with a candle (very thoughtful gesture!) but our dinner plates, empty glasses, and general table clutter were still in front of us. We also still hadn't seen the dessert menu we'd asked for, which made the moment feel rushed and a bit awkward. Needless to say, our server seemed to catch on that I was disappointed in the service towards the end of our meal. It seemed like she was the only server on the floor, too, which probably explained the lack of attentiveness and timing issues. Overall, the food was alright and everyone enjoyed their meals. It was an okay dining experience but the service could definitely use some improvement. For a restaurant with higher menu prices and a more upscale presentation (linen napkins, cozy ambiance, etc.), the level of service didn't quite match my expectations. I would still return as it could've just been an "off" night and their martinis were great!

This was our first time staying for the weekend at the lodge, and we were genuinely excited about the experience. The space itself is small, cozy, and intimate in the best way. It feels warm and inviting, especially after a long day in the cold, and sets the tone for a relaxed, linger-over-wine kind of dinner. The food was excellent across the board. We ordered elk, cod, and scallops and the scallops were the clear mic drop. Perfectly cooked, rich, and memorable. Our server recommended a bottle of wine that paired beautifully with everything and felt like someone actually listened instead of just pointing at the most expensive option. Service all around was warm, attentive, and unpretentious, which is not always a given in resort towns. Dessert was sorbet, simple but refreshing, and my girlfriend ordered a port she really enjoyed. After dinner we took the rest of the wine, grabbed a seat by the fireplace, and played chess, which felt like the most civilized way possible to end a night in the snow. Logistics wise, getting here can be a little annoying, especially if you are staying up at Mammoth Mountain Inn. You will want to call a taxi and plan ahead. That said, the extra effort was completely worth it. This is easily one of the best restaurants in Mammoth and the kind of place that makes you forget about the drive once the first plate hits the table.
