What a cute little Italian restaurant. The weather was nice so there were people sitting out front. Yes, it's a little crowded inside but that's what makes it cozy & quaint! The staff was hustling on a Friday evening. Lots of families enjoying their food. We ordered the Belle Haven Pizza & The Diavola. So good! The very sweet and beautiful Laura helped me! The Belle Haven is a white sauce pizza with Pears. The Diavola is a red sauce with pepperoni and a chili oil to give it a little kick! Both delicious!!! The staff were very friendly. Doppio has one of my favorite pizzas, the Diavola, which consists of fresh mozzarella, pepperoni, and chili oil. The chili oil gives it the perfect spicy kick. It comes with 6 slices, great to share with another person. I've also tried their prosciutto and arugula pizza, which comes with a generous amount of prosciutto. Both of these are thin-crust pizzas. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant, as well as street parking which is free after 5 PM. read more

Went to Doppio for the first time in a long time recently and was slightly let down. It's a small, bustling spot and a cozy atmosphere. My arrabiatta pasta was just decent and my friends carbonara was simply not good - the egg seemed overcooked and it was thick without being creamy. The Giuseppe pizza, ricotta starter and crispy artichoke were highlights - would definitely recommend! The service was fast, but it felt like we were being a bother to the staff when we would ask for things like another drink or an extra napkin - it made me feel like a second rate customer. We just went to doppio for the first time last night. While the food was good, it was extremely pricey (for example $18 for an order of spaghetti with butter for my daughter). They were constantly rushing us despite the fact that the restaurant was only half full. I will NEVER return to Doppio. Very bad experience. flew home on 22 February from New Orleans in terrible winter storm after a week of babysitting my grandkids, and my husband picked me up at LGA. I was tired and hungry and had nothing in the house since I'd been gone awhile. Options to eat out were limited. On Route 95 North highway, I called Doppio to ask if they were open and I got a vague, Yes and No answer. So it confused me. I asked if we arrive at 5pm will you be there or not, and the guy says, maybe for takeout? We arrive at 5pm and ask if we can eat dinner. The staff clearly did not want to be there because they were POUTING and reluctantly said OK. We ordered a bottle of water and 2 red wines which they brought us. Then, all of a sudden LOUD rap music came on the speakers(probably to move us out). I said, wow, that's loud, please lower the music, and he lowered it just a tiny notch, then I asked how about switching it off? He said, "NO, THIS IS A RESTAURANT!" in a very harsh way. I said, "wait, we are the only ones here, paying customers, what are you talking about?" My husband said, "that's it, give us the bill" for wine and water we did not even have a chance to drink. Its casual atmosphere and array of pizzas makes it approachable for kids - but the quality of its dishes makes it a solid option for adults (with or without kids). On a recent visit I started with the Crostone, a delicious blend of burrata, prosciutto, fig and honey on a tasty sourdough bread slice. My colleague ordered the butternut squash, which was thick and creamy despite not being a cream base. Both apps are highly recommended. For main dishes, my colleague ordered the chicken scarp and I ordered the cache a pepe, a Roman specialty. The scarp didn't look particularly appetizing, served in an iron skillet with what looked like excessive and watery liquid - but my colleague (a chicken scarp expert) gave it rave reviews despite the off-putting appearance. As for the cache a pepe, I would give it a "good but not great" review. It's such a hard dish to get right and the consistency needs to be perfect. Here, it was just a touch thin and could benefit from just a little more pepper. All in all, Doppio is still a really high-quality neighborhood joint. read more

I was here today, first time in a few years . The lunch menu has definitely changed as it's now more of a dinner menu, no mussels or nice Italian sandwiches. We ordered the orecchiette with sausage, broccoli rabe and Calabrian chili. It had no sausage, the entire dish was green, like the rabe was minced and pasta was dyed. Very watery and yes 3 tiny strips of chilly peppers. Very disappointed and definitely not worth $26. The owner needs to smile! read more

In the middle of the day it's a great place to have a meeting or lunch with friends, not too noisy. Pasta, salads, entrees, pizza are all great. Fine for families. business, special occasions. Was there this past weekend, the chicken Milanese was terrible, seemed like it was just a frozen (if not even worse) piece of chicken with hardly any dressing on the salad on top of chicken. Gnocchi was sub par at best, calamari wasn't any better. We went for lunch in between her waterpolo practices. The old lady who gave us a service, was impatient with us from the beginning, she also felt comfortable to make a comment to my daughter in front of the people out loud for raising her hand twice for check. I popped in for lunch and was greeted by a less than friendly lady who might have been the owner's mother who'd been roped in as free labor. She seemed irritated that I didnt sit precisely where she pointed [the sun was dazzling] and made no attempt to make anyone feel welcome. The pasta, however, was quite good. I've visited Doppio previously to enjoy their excellent gelato. This time while visiting Greenwich on a Saturday, I decided to have lunch here. The restaurant was packed with diners, many with young children, who clearly love the place. Fortunately a table became available as I arrived so there was no wait to be seated. I ordered a regular pizza, thin crust and very tasty, followed by way above average coffee. The service was a little slow, but the staff are very friendly. All in all a fun place to dine. read more

We are away on a little weekend getaway and decided to explore some new restaurants. I always order and love chicken francaise I have to say that hands-down this was the best chicken franccaise I've ever had. It has a thick lemon sauce, the right amount of capers, and a lovely addition of garlic. The spinach was not overdone and very tasty. The only reason why this review is four stars and not five is that the restaurant does not offer or serve Italian bread or the option of a small house salad before dinner. I added their main course Caesar salad to dinner after the server describe the size of the entrée. Turns out the entrée was much larger than he described and the salad was not needed in terms of fullness. However a small house salad would have hit the spot. My husband had gnocchi And said that the sauce was delicious. Overall the servers were friendly and attended to our needs. read more

She took ownership of the issues and offered to go above and beyond to make it right. I worked in the restaurant industry for many years and know that you can't control for every employee or experience, but you can control how you react and rectify it. While my comments about or experience Friday still stand, I sincerely appreciate the owner's outreach and sincerity. It gives me hope that this is a one-off and not a reflection of the quality of their service overall. As a result, I am adding 2 stars to my review.*** Horrible experience. Ordered a pizza for delivery at around 3:30 PM, with the confirmation email noting expected delivery time of 40-50 mins (fine by us). At 4:15 PM, we received a call from the restaurant manager, Carlos, saying they "don't have any drivers and won't until 5 PM" (why they waited an hour to tell us this, who knows?). Frustrated, but aware of the fact that an order from another place would take around the same time, we agree to wait until the driver arrives at 5 PM. The manager agreed to prioritize our order in light of the already significant delay. Starting at 5:30 PM, we called the restaurant, with no answer until the 8th or 9th call. Finally, Carlos answered at 5:45 PM and said "our driver just arrived, he will be coming over in 10-15 mins" (again, WHY would you not call???). At this point, we are famished and pissed. We ask for the food to be comped, which he fights us on, then begrudgingly agrees. The driver arrives after 6. We get the pizza, bring it inside, and discover the order is completely incorrect. As you'll see in the photo, we ordered a large mushroom pizza; what we got is a tiny, cold, hard margarita pizza. Baffling. To top it all off, we phone the driver who (1) disputes that the pizza is incorrect and (2) refuses to come back to deliver us a new one. We call the manager back, and he agrees to have the driver bring a correct pizza.... but not until after he has delivered allllllll of the other orders. That's right, he claims it will be another hour until we can get the correct one. With customer service this bad, I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more
