Was in the area for work and decided to grab some breakfast/ brunch. With a quick Yelp search showed a ton of options. With Dora cafe being only one I saw with all 5 stars! With breakfast places being a dime a dozen this one actually had plenty of parking. Being a busy Saturday morning the sitting area is actually pretty big allowing for easy seating. Menu was big and had lots of selection almost went with a sandwich, or pasta option. but stuck with the breakfast option. Ordered the smoked sausage and 3 eggs over easy with hash browns extra crispy. All the above came out amazing. Coffee was also good. Kinda a make it or break it for me.

My fiancé goes here all the time for breakfast while he's working and finally took me on Sunday. We found 2 seats quickly at the counter when we arrived and we're greeted promptly by our server. We both ordered the bacon breakfast burrito with added onion and tomato with breakfast potatoes. OMG it was delicious. The eggs in the burrito we're scrambled perfectly and when the salsa it comes with was added it was so good! They're coffee wasn't half bad either. It's an awesome local spot for a quick, casual Breakfast. Also, a little known fact is they have HIBACHI. The owner himself makes it and I have heard wonderful things. I'll be sure to check that out next visit!

Small town vibe located just outside downtown Mount Dora. Lots of locals who seem to to one another by name. All the staple breakfast diner items but the food was unexpectedly delicious and fresh. I had the bacon and cheddar quiche and it came with a salad and fresh ripe fruit. Nothing spectacular about the salad but it was a nice touch to the plate and made me feel like I was eating somewhat healthy. I tried a bite of my boyfriends hash browns (so good) and food came out fast. Our waitress who had a full house of people to tend to, gave exceptional service and she was very friendly. Definitely will be back!

Apparently this is a local favorite. I understand why while it's not the most attractive place, the food, prices, and atmosphere make up for it. And the chef totally understands what extra crispy bacon and country potatoes means!

This was a very hole in the wall kind of place. Which I love. This one did not disappoint. When it came to foods, my partner and I ordered fairly basic things. For me, Egg & Cheese on a bagel. Adding lettuce, tomato's and pickles. While Renee had a veggie omelette with a side of cheese grits. Everything came out quickly and tasted good. Simple flavors, but who says simple isn't good. Only thing I would criticize, the bagel wasn't toasted. Negating the mismatch taste issue of something cold & hot, they asked if I wanted the bagel toasted. Speaking about the service, they were kind of dismissive. We had one server at the beginning, then another one took over. Completely understandable if the first one was off shift, but they were just seeing other tables. As the meal progressed, we were not asked for a refill of our drinks once. At first thinking, maybe that is consistent. Nope! When I finally did get someone, which took some effort, they dispassionately brought my water. I should also note, no one was wearing a mask. No sign out front nor staff. While this is a conservative area and I hope I'm wrong, but as soon as I started holding my partner's hands from across the table, service changed. I'm not sure I would come back. But, who knows what the future will be.

Loved this place. I'm surprised we haven't stumbled on it before as we live in the area. Server was very nice, open and airy feel with the windows all around. Food was great. It felt like 'Cheers' where everyone knows your name. We'll be back!

Ever heard of the saying "Don't Judge a Book By It's Cover"? This is what this place is. Looking at it, I had second thoughts, but because of the reviews I decided why not. It is very quiet which I love about this place. The servers were friendly and the place was super clean. My food came out super quick and was delicious! The pancakes were not dry, which I get a lot in other breakfast places. They were the perfect moistness and not too soggy. The eggs were yummy. The hash browns were soooo good. I've never had better hash browns than those! I could not get enough of them! The sausage was great as well. It came with a biscuit but I was too full to eat it so I brought it with me. If you are thinking about coming, you should defiantly come! I know the outside isn't that pretty, but it sure is clean and yummy! read more

This is the cafe we go back to time after time. The reason is simple, it is the only place we have found eggs benedict as good as I make. My husband likes to order his benedict with sausage and scrambled eggs, I order the traditional. We are not biscuit and gravy eaters so can't comment on them. I can say their grits are a cut above other places and the poached eggs are always perfect. The waffles are also exceptionally good. The eggs and sausage burrito is another favorite, the sauce makes it perfect. This is the only place we like the home fries. The bowl of fresh fruit is another plus. I frequently order the veggie omelette. I have order this at sever other local restaurants but prefer it at Dora Cafe. read more

My first ever visit was a 9 am early stop. Missed the early bird specials by an hour, but my breakfast did not disappoint. Greek omelet with American potatoes and a biscuit. There was plenty of feta cheese with a nice taste. Those taters! Not greasy, were they baked? So good. The biscuit was fresh and stayed together when I buttered it. Very satisfying. read more

I not sure why anyone thinks this place is over the top. I found the food pedestrian at best. My scrambled eggs were burnt brown on the bottom and the grits were soupy. Nothing special here, more mundane food in an area dominated by very similar restaurants read more

Waitress forgot coffee after several times being reminded. Did not get entire order. Eggs seemed to be eggbeater-not fresh cracked. Sausage gravy was out of a can even though when asked if it was homemade. Didn't think breakfast would be hard to make and served correctly but they proved otherwise. read more

Yelp worthy! Best eggs Benedict in town (IMO). Hollandaise sauce is on point -so much UMAMI and generous portions of it too! I can't believe I have never been here before! Fresh grits are nice and creamy- taste just like your mom used to make. Oh yes, I went there! My husband had the chicken Teriyaki special FOR BREAKFAST! Finally a place that offers some semblance to a Japanese Breakfast. If you love Kiku Hibachi in Eustis, then you will love their teriyaki specials here because the son of the owner of Kiku owns this place (also he the brother of the owner of Wave in Mount Dora). You are in good hand with their fast and extremely friendly service. Owner came up and patted my husband on the back and welcomed us to our first visit here. I have heard great things about this place from three separate people that say they come here every day. I can definitely understand why- FOOD IS DELICIOUS, GENEROUS PORTIONS AND VERY REASONABLE PROCES. We will definitely be coming back and also inviting some friends to try it as well. read more

This restaurant just recently opened in the former Lisa's Kitchen. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Their hours are from 6:00a-2:00p, and breakfast is served all day. We went there to have a New Year's Day breakfast (2017) and were extremely satisfied. The food was cooked just right, the service was fast and friendly, the menu options were substantial, and the prices were fair. We will certainly be going there again, and possibly often. read more

The best breakfast and lunch place in Mount Dora!! It is a hidden gem!! The owners also own kiku and serve some of the Japanese style/teriyaki foods. The manager and head cook are wonderful. They walk around talking to the guests and get to know everyone! The food is fabulous...lots of favorites but I know you will never get a better double cheeseburger anywhere. read more

Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.

The coral dining room is where I ate, they do not take reservations for sitting at the outdoor tables. The Grand Slam comes with eggs, your choice of bacon or sausage (patties), and potatoes or grits, with 4 small pancakes. The sausage and pancakes were very good, the potatoes well-seasoned, but the scrambled eggs left a lot to be desired. I would order fried eggs if you're looking for something fresher. The juice was delicious (no pulp), but $4 for one glass is just crazy. The water, I will say, was actually good - which pleasantly surprised me. You always want the water at a restaurant to be good - that's what they cook the food in. If not the Grand Slam, I'd bet the Belgian Waffle is a solid bet. I just can't get over how expensive breakfast, brunch, and lunch are these days. The Grand Slam came out to $18 but you DO get a very good portion of food for your money.

The burger was not really a true smash burger, but it was fine. I would rate is a 7/10. The truffle parm fries were an 8.5/10. It was definitely made well, I just think I wish both items had more flavor to it. The truffle parm fries felt like it used truffle oil, which is fine, but I couldn't taste it strongly. I could smell it, but not taste. The burger, I just wished was actually smashed into the griddle where it gets really crispy. I will say the customer service was excellent. They misheard my partner order an extra patty and they brought it out to him immediately. Otherwise, they have a lot of sauces and other little things to place on the burger, so maybe that's why they keep it more basic. I did not see all that till after I already ate the whole thing. Overall, I think it's good and an 7/10 restaurant. I'd like to come back and try it again to get a better opinion of it.
