As my husband's birthday is approaching, I was reminded to post a review for the cake we ordered for his birthday last year. I went into the store and said I would like to have a soccer-themed cake made. The lady was really sweet. She had a form ready to fill out to select flavors and fillings. Cake flavor options: vanilla, chocolate, tres leches, mocha Filling choices: banana, pineapple, peach, strawberry, mocha, chocolate Then let her know the border color, decoration and any writing you'd like on the cake. I picked 2 cake flavors (vanilla and chocolate) and banana for the filling. The price (2024) was very affordable! $49 for a tall cake w/ soccer themed decor that she added to the top and side. A restaurant down the street ignored me waiting for a table so I drove away and found Dorada Restaurant. I am so glad I did. They have a simple menu with only a few breakfast plates prepared in the traditional way. My Spanish is limited to food (la cuenta for favor!) but the ladies were friendly helping me order. I ordered the chilaquiles plate. It reminded me of a chilaquiles plate in Mexico. It had all the elements and streaky fresh scrambled eggs.!I can't wait to try Dorada for lunch. read more

Best chilaquiles I've had, right after my mom's of course. Small little bakery/restaurant down the street from my house. Found on Yelp, and thought to try it out, and I'm glad I did. I ordered their chilaquiles plate with a cup of coffee. From order to being served, it was about 10 minutes. The plate was enormous, as it comes with beans and rice, and a good portion of chilaquiles with egg. The chilaquiles were crispy, the salsa was just the right amount of spiciness, nicely garnished with cream and onion. The house salsa, which is green, was really spicy. I asked for two tortillas because they don't come with the plate, because as the lady said it's not customary to eat tortillas with chilaquiles, hut I still wanted some. So this is the last time I come here !! The owner is a rude and mean older women. I love to come to buy champurado and we spend usually 30 dollars when we come. I always pay extra for the little things I like like tomato, I come in this morning and order my usual chilaquiles plus extra for tomato and extra cheese, and It taste like fish, I tell the owner and she says nothing is wrong with your food it's you the restaurant smells like fish so your just smelling the fish .. she acts like am crazy so I literally left my full plate of food that cost me 12 pulse tax with her walking away from me while we talking.. What a great location to have a great baked good. We had a variety of pastries when they donated to my 8yr olds non-profit during a homeless feeding in Santa Ana... Often times people are way too consumed with life and their needs to look around and see who and what's around them. The owners of this great place was so loving that they asked to help, we did have to ask them. How wonderful is that????? We had an event at the Santa Ana Civic Center where we fed over 400 homeless and needy families. I stopped by this place one morning before a work pot luck to grab some sort of contribution. I went inside and it was pretty clean, and neat with the usual Mexican pastries and some donuts. It smelled amazing in there. I immediately noticed a sign that said DOZEN fresh tamales. I was sold. I asked the lady for a dozen tamales, half cheese and half chicken. She threw in a sweet tamale (of which I had never heard of) and said I must try it as it had cinnamon and raisins. I brought the tamales to work and they were an absolute HIT. I didn't even get to taste one of the non sweet ones. The sweet one was, however, quite a delight. it wasn't too sweet, and the ground corn tasted so awesome with the powdered sugar and cinnamon and raisins. It was warm and I LOVE warm desserts. People at my work have asked me repeatedly for the number to this bakery that was ONCE called Pili's. They have ordered the tamales and are huge fans! I'm very skeptical of store bought tamales as my mom's side makes them by hand every Christmas. I can tell you that the "masa" or dough in the tamale tasted great.
