Looks like a pretty new spot for Mexican food in Santa Ana. The dining room and restrooms are new and clean and the food is moderately priced and great! Combo #2 - Tacos Dorado and Enchilada plate with rice and beans. This comes with a hard beef taco and a cheese enchilada. I upgraded to have chicken in my enchilada for an extra $1.50. The enchilada was saucy and cheesy and stuffed with huge chunks for chicken white meat. The taco was in a crunchy fresh fried shell and packed with shredded beef, lettuce and cheese. The dish came with so much rice that I couldn't finish it. I know it's a basic, standard dish, but they did it well with generous servings. Chips with Guacamole - They pour on the guacamole over the chips and there was plenty so that each chip had plenty of guac. The chips were lightly salted corn chips that were medium light thickness. Great if you are craving chips with guacamole. Enough to share as a side, or enough for one really hungry person to polish off along with a main dish. The restaurant staff was friendly and the food came out quickly and my dish was steaming hot. I will come back to try something else along with their horchata and jamaica drinks! read more

Just visited the new Los Grandes Originales in Santa Ana, and we'll definitely be back! We had heard of the original location but never had the chance to visit, so we were excited to try this one. We learned that the owners here are the original cooks and siblings of the late owner of the first location, which made the experience feel even more meaningful. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted. Since it was our first visit, we took our time looking over the menu, and the cashier was incredibly patient and never made us feel rushed. We ended up ordering a burrito combo, a chile relleno combo, a hard taco and enchilada combo, two taco combos, and a few horchatas. The portions are definitely generous, and everything we tried was packed with flavor. The restaurant itself is clean, spacious, and has plenty of seating, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. While we were waiting for our food, one of the owners came over and chatted with us about the restaurant's history. He shared that after the original owner passed away, many of the longtime cooks and staff decided to come together and open this new location, continuing the recipes and traditions they had been serving for years. Hearing that story, along with the genuine warmth and hospitality we experienced, made us appreciate the restaurant even more. It's not often that you find great food paired with such sincere customer service. They made us feel like regulars from our very first visit. Loved it! I drove an hour to try this place and it was worth it! We tried the beef crunchy tacos, potato crunchy tacos, the cheese enchilada and chicken enchilada! I loveeeed the cheese enchilada plate, came with rice and deep fried beans. The tacos were good and stuffed! Nothing here was skimpy or lacking in flavor! Definitely worth giving it a try. We used to go to their old location, but after hearing the family branched out and opened their own spot, we figured we'd give it a try and see if it lived up to what we remembered. It's even better! My Aunt always raves about Los Grandes! I had never been to this one. She insisted I try it. First time here. The place was pretty big with plenty of seating. Very clean! The staff was very nice and attentive. I ordered two hard taco plate. One shredded beef and one el dorado (potato taco) with rice and beans. They offered additional sauces. Great service, filling food, and great variety. The prices were modest and the salsa was spicy. My son and I stopped in for an early lunch, and enjoyed our time and meals. Overall 3.5/5 We got 2 burritos and enchiladas for takeout with no beans. the portion size is quite small but I guess for $12 you can't expect much - the burrito kind of just was a very large taco just meat avocado and that's pretty much it. The enchiladas were pretty dry. I also received ONE singular sauce for the two burritos. The service was quick though and they do pick up the phone. Overall this is not something I'd go out of my way to get given the vendors and plenty Mexican food stalls in the area. read more
