I recently visited my family and went to Dorido's with my daughter. The food is always great and so is the service.

My fiancé and I just moved to the area from the city and we decided to try Dorido's after reading all the great reviews. The service was amazing. Everyone appeared so genuinely happy so they must treat their employees great. I got French onion soup and that was pretty good! We split the broiled seafood platter and it was very bland. The white fish was hard and flavorless. Our shrimp was hard. The crabcake - though it was mostly crab - was mushy and flavorless. The scallops also were flavorless and needed to be seared longer. You can tell the seafood is frozen. It was the first time both of us stopped eating because of the bad food. We were hopeful the food would be awesome because it's close by, the prices were good, and service was wonderful. Sadly we will not be returning and cannot recommend the restaurant based on our experience. read more

Just moving into the area and been here 3 times in 2 weeks. Had their fish and chips, crab cake sandwich and burger. So far I'm satisfied with their food. The area is comfortable. Fish and chips was crispy. Crab cake was 99% crab meat (not like those cheap potato pancakes). The build-urself burger has everything from bacon to jalapeno, from mushrooms to onion rings. Fries not included with the burger though. So it's like $8-9 for burger and fries, vs. 9.99 crab cake sandwich with fries. read more

My co-worker and I stopped in for lunch Thursday 12/1 and ate at the bar. The service was top notch and the food was delicious. We started out with the fried clams appetizer which was pretty decent for not being a dedicated fish place. My buddy ordered the fish sandwich and he enjoyed it. He couldn't finish his meal and got a takeaway box, but wound up forgetting it. He was kicking himself about it for the rest of the day. I ordered one of the four specials for the day - the chicken parmesan sandwich, but asked for banana peppers. We were going to go to the Elrama Tavern for lunch, but he suggested Dorido's instead. I love the same sandwich from ET and had it on the brain, so I figured I'd satisfy that craving. It worked. There were four or five soups on the specials board, which appeals to me greatly. However, I was afraid the Maryland crab soup wouldn't pair well with my chicken sandwich, so I balked on ordering it. South Park is a little out of they way from my house in Canonsburg, but somewhat closer to Monongaltuckey where my buddy lives. I would make the trip to check this place out again, though. I initially marked this place four out of five stars, but I couldn't think of a reason why it shouldn't get five. Great service, tasty food, and decent prices. Five stars. read more

Never had a bad meal. The staff is friendly and attentive. It's a great place to relax, have a drink and enjoy a great meal.

I have eaten here since I could golf, it sits along South Park Golf course. We moved back to the area and stopped in for lunch with my wife, Bragging about how good this place is for fish sandwiches. I ordered a large fish sandwich platter and my wife did the same. She took a little while to order since we were talking and looking over the menu since it was her first time eating there, which seemed to bother, who I believe was one of the owners. The fish was still good, and the fries were cold but the rest of the meal was good. My kids came to Pittsburgh to visit and decided to take the out to lunch Sunday before they left to go back home out east. Upon arriving we were the fifth table in the place. Figured great, the food would come out fast and kids could get on the road. Much to my surprise, it took a lot longer than usual and when the food arrived it was cold. My wife's crab cakes tasted as if they were pulled from the fridge and out on plate. We waved down one of the three waitresses and asked if they could warm them up. The waitress was very kind and stated we weren't the first to ask for this. When she brought out the plate it was hot and looked good. While handing her the meal the waitress stated that the Real cook prepared this meal. We ate some of the meal and left most of it on our plates. On the ride back My son's wife got sick having to stop several times to vomit. Later that night I got the same symptoms, stomach pains, chills, and vomiting, and the next day my wife and son had it too. After going to the doctor I was told had gotten Food Poisoning. Sorry Doritos will not be back, what a disappointment! read more

Eh, just OK. I've not had a meal there that I'd rave about. The clams are like out of a box, pretty much the same for everything else. I had the prime rib, it was disappointing. If you like it here which you should you should also try the garden bar on Gardenville Road. It is run by the son of The owner of Dorido's. Both are very good places to go to in the area! read more

We tried Doridos for the first (and last) time last night. Food was subpar, even for bar food. Mozzarella sticks were hard and the grease they cooked it in must have been old...really made them taste awful. My wings were dry & overcooked. My husband had the seafood platter, he said it was ok but would never order it again. The only thing that was a thumbs up was the beer .... nice and cold!! First time eating here and my first sit down meal since Allegheny County opened in the "Green Phase" of Covid-19 time. We visited at 3:30 to avoid a busier time. Take out business looked brisk as a number of people came to take out during our time at Dorido's. This is an authentic Pittsburgh place. Nothing fancy but good food. Upon entering there is a bar and booths along a wall. A larger dining room a half floor up. Very clean restrooms. The booths were marked off to allow every other one to be used. The tables had nothing on them. Our friendly masked waitress gave us paper menus. We enjoyed the Cod fish and chips with a substitute of onion rings and crab cakes with an up charged sweet potato fries. Beers were ice cold and there are a number of craft beers displayed on neon signs. There are daily specials of other fish offerings other than Cod. The fish has a nice breading that isn't too thick and the crab cakes are 95% all crab. Delicious! Prices are very reasonable and desserts only $3.99 read more

If I'm ever near South Park or I have even made the 45 minute drive to eat here. It is worth it! I have never had anything bad here. Everything from the crab cakes, wings, salads, soups, and sandwiches have been fresh and hot. The service is always great and with a smile. I casual place with plenty of TVs is you want to watch sports there. I highly recommend it and take my family there when we have a chance. read more

Buckle up folks, this is going to be a long one. What can I say? Extremely disappointed in our meal and how the manager treated us. I was excited to go here because it was a childhood favorite of mine. My dad worked close by and would take me there everytime I went to work with him. I've visited over.the years as well and it has really gone downhill. On our most recent visit several days ago, we went in with a party of 10. Adults at one table and our kids directly next to us. The waitresses commented several times on how well behaved they were, so that was not the issue for poor customer service. My issues and the reason for the 1 star lies is due to 2 things and the majority lies on the manager there that night. For starters, my sister ordered the Catfish and it was undercooked. The manager saw she wasn't eating it yet never said anything. When my sister said something to the waitress, the waitress seemed to be annoyed and the manager heard the conversation but never said anything. Second, they did not bring out my son's order for until about 20 minutes AFTER everyone else had their food. He got the catfish too, so the cook was already cooking it for my sister, so how did he not have my sos's? We had to ask 3 times for his food. Any other place, theanager would have come over, talked maybe even take the undercooked food or late food off the bill...nope...nothing but crickets chirping from the manager. After we received our bills, the manager came over, grabbed the payment and never said a word to us. Nothing, not even a thank you for coming in. He was talking to other tables, we heard him thank other tables but nothing for us. I realize us not going back is not going to do anything to his bottom line, but stay far away from this place. I wish I had so I could have kept my childhood memories as a good one. Now it is tainted and we will never be back. read more

Ok I in all honesty did not know what to expect of this place. It looks like it should be on the Gulf of Mexico either in Florida or Texas as it's got a beach/fishing feel. Lots of locals, huge bar area.. TONS OF TV's! It's loud but not annoying. They have a pretty decent menu.. if you wanna eat it's seat yourself. My husband and I had the Famous Fish Fry.. the large is huge I got the smaller one as a sandwich but it was still huge. The fish fresh and well cooked.. nice flaky white fish.. but it lacked seasoning in the breading. The too large bun was not a good pick-it was just too much bread. You will see the photo.. no lettuce or tomato or I know blasphemy cheese on it.. it needed something for flavor. Sure they gave you what I figured was house made tarter and cocktail sauce a plus. You get two sides I got broccoli (it was cooked and soft) and cold French Fries? Really, seriously.. the fries were redone for me but all in all it was not all that memorable my Dad ordered the Chili that was tasty. Service is prompt and efficient but more like churn and burn and I get it.. it's a busy place. If they changed the bread, gave the fish some seasoning it would be stellar or just don't make it a sandwich. I think you can order it just as a fish dinner and maybe we should have done that but it was kind of flavorless. Refills on soft drinks were taken care of fast. When I come back to PA to visit family the only reason I would come in is to sit at the bar and have a beer or something. They have a lot to park..That's all I got. read more

Please dont hate me for saying this, but before setting foot in Dorido's I thought it would look like a dive bar / nursing home hybrid inside. It is actually very nice inside ...but depending on the time of day you eat here my above description may hold true. But who gives a damn bc the food here is really good! I had a reuben and my father had the crab stuffed cod. Both were good but the seafood was obviously the real standout. For years I'd heard nothing but good things about the fish sandwich and we will def be back to try. The food is really good here. Like, home cooking, dinner at Mom's kind of food (if your mom was a good cook). The bar has a lot of taps and I bet this place would be very fun to go to during games. As we frequent this establishment, they never disappoint. The service, food, and atmosphere are spot on. They have amazing specials (all are must try's). I love the fish sandwich. This is where you go when you're looking for casual, reasonably-priced seafood in the south hills. I've gotten takeout and dined in and despite a long wait to get a table, I recommend dining in if you can. Can't go wrong with any of the seafood; Doridos does it well. Food is simple and fresh. Small fish sandwich is rather large and any of the broiled seafood is delicious. It can get a little confusing walking in here on a busy night so here is the lowdown for first timers. There will be no signs, but there is a line to get a table and a separate line for take out. If you're getting takeout, walk straight in to the bar and someone in the bar will eventually take care of you. If you'd like a table, there will be a line that starts around the left corner of the bar. You won't be acknowledged until a table is ready. Once you get a table, service will be pretty efficient and it won't take too long for your food to come out. Considering how packed it's been here every time I've come, it's everyone's go-to for casual seafood in the south hills, as it is mine. read more

I met my aunt here on a whim. Omg was this place amazingly good. Who would have think that amazing succulent seafood would be the feature from looking at the outside?!? I think I move driven past and never taken the time to notice this was even here. Service was experienced and excellent and food was top notch. It was packed and super busy. The following is an honest review I had written early, but despite my one time bad experience with service, go there. Dorido's restaurant has been around for fifty years. I like the food there, I really do. I have seen in some reviews patrons didn't like the burger, but I do. I get take out a lot. If this review was based solely on the food, it would have a 4.5 - 5-star rating, but this review is based on my dining experience. It's lent. I get it. And I wanted a good meal that I knew was consistent. So where else better to go for fish than Dorido's. After feeding the grandkids a four o'clock supper, at 8:15, I toted them, along with my daughter for Dorido's. I knew it was going to be busy, It was Friday and it was Lent. So we went late. We didn't have long to wait for a table, maybe 10 minutes. The host was friendly, but the place was packed. After being seated, a younger, goatee waiter walked by the table, exclaiming, "Jesus!", somehow I don't think he was praying. We had the singing waitress, seriously, she sings all the time. She is exceptionally friendly and upbeat and good. She took our app order, drink order, then food order. The stuffed mushrooms came out after 8 minutes, and the food, although the kids swore it took forever, really came out fast. Everything was delicious. I especially liked the Ranch dressing, it was housemade. I can't complain about any of the food and the portions were plenty. Again, singing waitress was great ... until she brought out our food and that was it. This seems to be a pattern, no matter who is our server when we go. They bring the food and I don't see them again. We didn't see her again. Wait, I'm lying. She walked by and I asked for more tarter sauce. she got it. That was it. At that point, I believe they moved her elsewhere and we became a community wait staff table. whoever could get to us would. Noone refreshed our drinks, no one asked if we needed anything else, nothing. We finished our meals and it took fifteen minutes to flag down a server for take out containers, then another 8 minutes to get the check from a totally different server.My daughter had to take the kids outside, they were getting restless, plus we felt uncomfortable because people at the bar were making comments about the kids. And my grandkids were very well behaved. I thought this was a family place? It wasn't our fault that it was after ten. We would have been out of there by 9:40, before the chatter about the kids, had someone come over to check on us, I will say this ... five people a bill of 58.00. You can't beat that. I'll go back, simply because the food is good and the price is right. If I sit inside, I'll go when it's less busy. read more

For nearly a half-century, the ever-popular, Dorido's has been serving up grub to the fine folks of South Park Township and the surrounding areas with a hearty pat on the back and a firm handshake. Yet it wasn't until last year that I was made aware of their existence via a hot tip from my father who swears by their tasty fare, which he and a longtime pal of his consider a regular treat after a day of biking in the area. However, it was Good Friday, and considering that a swordfish is mounted below their writ-large logo, this lapsed Catholic wasn't about to go heathen on yinz. No, this cozy, cabin-like bar and grill specializes in seafood, oddly enough. One can have Lobster Pots as well as walleye, catfish, and salmon prepared in different ways, but gosh darn it if i wasn't hankering for crabcakes. I believe I had mine broiled (they can also be fried) and found that the duo of patties were full of luscious, jumbo lump crabmeat and contained little filler. Tartar sauce accompanied the cakes, but a cookbook-perfect remoulade was hidden underneath both, so I barely touched it and the cocktail sauce. Hey, when it comes to crabcakes, it's mother sauces all the way or the highway for me, bub. Two sides came with my entree, and neither of them disappointed. The baked potato was steamy and colossal while the cole slaw had that tangy/creamy/crunchy alchemy pretty much on lock. Kay and I shared some fried oysters, and the love affair with the breaded fryolator mollusks was reignited. The coating was applied just enough to jacket each briny ocean blob without turning it into a savory donut, that hot seawater running down my throat as I cracked them open with my teeth, one by one. The service was on-point, and the clientele were as friendly as they were lively. As I alluded to earlier, and as evidenced by a couple of drive-bys, Dorido's is never lacking in commerce (the parking lot is almost full...always! We barely got a spot ourselves!), so there was a ten-minute wait for a booth. A sneaky octogenarian tried to steal it from us only to reveal that he was kidding. "Hey, but let me eat with yinz anyway," he said. "C'mon. I 'aint got much time left! I'll be dead before I get seated!" Then a middle-aged couple we struck up a conversation with while in line asked if we wanted to eat with them. They were left with two extra seats at their table due to another couple no-showing. Where else but in Pittsburgh do people want to dine with complete strangers? We'd never been there before yet were made to feel welcome regardless. It was as if we were lifelong customers. "When are ya buying a house out this way?" we were asked. Speaking of that line, once we paid our tab and departed, we noticed that it was snaking out into the parking lot and around the back of the building. When I used to live in South Park I would often walk over here to get their fish sandwiches to take home with me. Doritos is a full service restaurant and bar. Place usually gets packed. While they are known for seafood they have hamburgers, salads, and other offerings on their menu. Service is friendly and food is served promptly. On this particular visit I wanted to try their fish and chips. The fish they serve come in generous portions. If you order it fried you probably will end up taking some of it home with you. Since fried foods normally don't agree with me I asked if I could have it baked. My waiter was also kind enough to offer me a substitute baked potato instead of the fries for the same reason. The fish comes with both tartar and cocktail sauces. Along with it I got the both baked potato and Cole slaw. The entire meal was just under $10.00. Food was very good and I enjoyed all of it. They have booth seating in the front and if you head towards the back up a short flight of stairs there is table seating. In the middle is the bar area. You normally pay at the bar but on this occasion they brought the check to me. Often overlooked, Dorido's is located on Brownsville Road in South Park near the golf course and across from a small group of shops across the street. They are now serving Lenten specials which include pierogies and haluska for under $5.00. They also have fresh seafood listed along with their daily specials. It's comfortable and the food is good but the waitress had changed my tip amount after we left which left my bank account overdrawn . I will not be back . My son loves this place and it was his birthday so I had just enough to pay and leave an appropriate tip. When I got notified that my account was overdrawn I figured it out and doubled checked the amount charged after tip. Sure enough your tall dark haired waitress took advantage of my already kind tip. The fish. You go here for the FISH. Anyday, anytime, go here for the fish sandwhiches. Grab a Yeungling, order up a large fish with fries, and enjoy the locals. This is really the best fish sandwhich around, and it's at the edge of South Park so maybe head over for a nice day of cycling, walking, golfing, etc... then stop in here for a great lunch. They also do a great take out if you want to enjoy it at home or in the park. read more

I've done takeout twice from Dorido's now. The food was absolutely delicious both times, and reasonably priced for restaurant fare. My wife and I had the catfish and the cod the first time, and a half rack of ribs and the French onion soup the second time. The staff were all friendly, and the meals were ready faster than I could get to the location (within fifteen minutes). The catch is consistency of orders. Check your bags before you go. My first time, I ordered their cheddar cheese bites and, when I got home, I found out they weren't in the bag, although they promised me a free set on my next order. Just tonight, I showed up again, and they indeed gave me the cheese bites for free, even took them out of the bag and checked to be sure I was getting them. I got home and all of my order was there in the bag... as well as someone else's chicken sandwich. To give a bit of context, when I showed up this time to pick up my order, there was a waitress with a plate of food poring over about eleven meal tickets, trying in vain for several minutes to figure out who the food was supposed to go to, before finally realizing that it was a completely different dish than she thought it was initially. Meanwhile, one of the cooks regularly walked out and set down plates of food on the counter before walking back without a word. I've heard a lot of businesses are having issues with staffing, between people getting sick, and people not wanting the added exposure to people that might make them sick, so I'm hoping this was an unusual situation. Speaking of sickness... they do offer sit-down dining with an "every other" table setup to create space. The staff was masked, mostly. The lady who was answering phones for orders took off her mask every time she picked up the phone. Yes, she was well separated from customers, but the waitresses all had to walk by in fairly close quarters. And, at one point, one of the waitresses lowered her mask to squeeze at her nose with one hand... she then walked through a door, so she might have immediately washed her hands, but that was a slightly gross thing to do, for someone who would be handling food. Overall, we may visit there again, but I'm going to check my entire bag next time. read more

Doridos is awesome for their fish. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish is a real generous size and the fries were wonderful. All hot and that's what I want when I order fish and fries. Their service is fast, you don't have to wait long for your food. My son ordered their grilled cheese and that was actually really good too. You never know what you're going to get when ordering a child's grilled cheese sandwich. The seating area is not huge but they can fit a good amount of people in there. There is the bar section then a few steps up tables and chairs. read more

I gotta say this place looks so run down and terrible from the outside that I can see how people may easily avoid it. On walking in it's definitely a bit tight but it's much nicer than you would expect. It still needs updated I feel like but from keeping the old look is how they keep food cost down I assume. I love it here it's good every time I come. The staff can be hit or miss being there's a guy here who always seems to be in a bad mood when he's the one helping your table. I'm assuming he's one of the managers. One thing I appreciate with this place is they are very consistent with updating the specials of the day on there site so you always know what's going on. I love there zucchini fries and there marinara is delicious! Not a big fan of the wings being every time I've had them there super dry and normally not that meaty. The fish sandwich is decent. The meatloaf is average but there's other good stuff here. But honestly I like to just come here and order Aton of the zucchini fries.
