I just had the worst prime rib dinner I've ever had in my life and believe me at age 78 I've had quite a lot. It was black from being marinaded in what I suspect was Kitchen Bouquet, and the dipping juice was black as well, not pan droppings from a prime rib roasted slowly for hours. It appeared to be cooked in a pan. There was no beef flavor at all, just salty and slightly sweet taste. Don't go here for a prime rib dinner, it was really bad. My daughter had broiled crab cakes, which were excellent and so was the crab-stuffed mushrooms. read more

My family and I have been regular customers at Dorito's for years and have always enjoyed the food, especially the fish dinners, with very few issues. Unfortunately, tonight's experience was very disappointing. Five of the six hot dinners we ordered were brought to the table cold. When the manager (or possibly an owner) came over and asked how everything was, I explained the situation. He offered to have the meals remade, but I simply told him that wasn't necessary and that I just wanted to point out that the dinners had been served cold. His response--twice--was "What do you want me to do for you?" and the tone came across with noticeable attitude. I do want to be clear that the waitresses were excellent and very attentive all evening. We have absolutely no complaints about their service. Our concern was strictly with how the situation was handled from a management standpoint. We've supported this restaurant for many years and rarely write reviews, which is why this was disappointing. Mistakes happen anywhere, but how management responds to customers is what really matters. Hopefully this feedback is taken constructively so situations like this are handled better in the future. read more

Surprised that there is not a review from me in the past. Have stopped in with friends for lunch a couple of times recently. Very casual and crowded and fairly priced meals. Service is, "hey what u want to drink and eat". The fish sandwich is large and a little greasy. The corned beef sandwich is good. Good place for a quick inexpensive lunch. read more

We have known about this place for years but have only been here once and that was many years ago. We went there last night and let me tell you. It was very busy but luckily we got a booth right away. Our server came over and took our drink order. Everything was quick and efficient. They kept things moving. The French onion soup was among the best we've had. I had the fish and shrimp platter. Delish and my husband had the half rack of ribs and they were fall off the bone. Had lunch there today. Maryland crab soup & smelts.. Both were outstanding. My wife had a steak & cheese sandwich. She said it was very well prepared. They were very busy with Christmas a crowd, but that didn't effect the service as it was quick & very efficient. Dorido's has been one of our go to places for many years. read more

Went in for dinner & the place was packed. We got a table upstairs. Place smelled old & like old grease. It took quite awhile for a waitress to approach our table. The 3 guys I was with all ordered fish sandwiches and I chose the Reuben. We waited 30 mins & the waitress said the cook had quit that day. The "Reuben" was SO gross I only ate one bite. Came in for a late lunch on a weekday... Service was acceptable... Menu is loaded with seafood, burgers, and bar bite types of food. Tried their crab cake stuffed cod and it was more of a crabcake on top of a filet of cod which seemed to be broiled, but the crabcake wasn't completely cooked on the inside, but the cod was definitely done. Cole slaw was decent. Greek salad dressing was really good. If I ever go back, I'll definitely try some other menu items. read more

A few days ago I went to Dorido's with a group. The waitress was kind, efficient, and unflappable. (Thanks, Beth Ann) I had fish and it was delicious. Everyone at my table got something different and we all liked the dishes. We all paid separately and that was handled with no problem. We came here for dinner before a show, and although the place seemed busy we got our food pretty quickly. The employees were all very nice and I am pretty sure it was the owner or the manager who came to check on us as well. We started with the french onion soup. I was hesitant just because it seems like no one does FOS justice, but wow it was so good! Tons of onions and flavor was not lacking at all! Highly recommend if your a FOS fan! I have heard about this place for so many years but never came, mostly heard about their fish sandwiches during lent. So we ordered a fish sandwich and every chosen ingredient was done right. The bread...texture and taste was there. The fish itself, I don't think I've had a more flavorful fish sandwich than here in the entire south hills. I will be telling everyone about it and can't wait to bring my parents in to try it! We got the small and it was perfect for us 2 to share. Always drove by there, Finally decided to stop and eat. I had some peel and eat shrimp, very tasty and the homemade cocktail sauce was excellent. My wife had the fish sandwich, a small piece filled the plate, I had a burger and it was done to perfection. Staff was very friendly and quick on the service. Loved the servers-- we called ahead becuz it was Sat eve with an elder who doesn't move quickly or hear well. They don't take reservations but told us they'd be on the lookout. Sure enough, we were quickly seated in the back room. Perfect! The fish sandwiches are as gigantic as my husband remembers from childhood. Other items were ok, but they could prolly cut some items from the menu and just focus on things they do well. It's ok. It's hard to find good seafood in the area. The service was very friendly and prompt and food came out quick. Ordered the crab cake sandwich and while the cake it's self was good the sandwich overall was bland. Just the cake on a hamburger bun. I wish it had some lettuce and/or tomato just SOMETHING. I ended taking it out of the bun and just eating the cake. I was distracted by all the flies all over the window. There were so many it was gross. My husband and I had lunch at Dorido's last week and it was terrific. Menu is mostly seafood but does have appetizers and sandwiches/burgers. I had the stuffed fluke which is like flounder. Crabmeat was good and without fillers. My husband had fish and shrimp and said it was really good. We also had the French onion soup which was very savory. Plenty of food. Wait staff visited our table often to see if we needed anything. I would recommend Dorido's if you are looking for a good seafood meal and good service. I was there on a Sunday night and the service was awful. Sat at the bar and took 10 mins for someone to greet me and once I was greeted, the waitress behind the bar had an attitude. While I was waiting for my food, I was never offered a refill on my pop. I was also charged for onions and the bun for a Grilled Chicken sandwich which is absolutely ridiculous. Been coming here since 1958 when it was Gorsiks Tavern, home of the BIG FISH and Burgers BIGGER than the Bun. My dad and I would go on Saturday so he could watch sports and I got a fish sandwich. After 64 years of patronizing this bar....it's my favorite. All over the board food coverage. Basic sandwiches and good burgers, BEST Fish Sandwich in the South Hills.Homemade chili soups,salads and surprisingly fantastic pizza. Extravagant Seafood Dishes, shrimp, mussels and Salmon . Great beer selections, standard shot/beer combos and plethora of mixed drinks. The staff flows, all the staff help each other and it works. The food was tasty! I got broiled fish and shrimp, the fish was delicious but the shrimp was kind of bland. The portions were kind of on the smaller side for the shrimp and scallops entree (3 shrimp & 3 scallops) and the fried shrimp entree (6) for the prices of them. Our waitress was very kind but forgot to bring us a few different things and did not check on us very often. Started today with French onion soup -excellent! Then the mini crab cake appetizers- which like everything else there crab related is awesome. My sister got the open face prime rib with mashed potatoes. She said the potatoes and gravy were really good. I got the crab stuffed shrimp, delicious with double cole slaw for a side. We split the prime rib and shrimp so had a taste of the prime rib with au jus. Everything excellent. The servers were very cheery today as well. If you want a baked potato with your meal go after 12. Dorido's has always been one of my favorite restaurants in the south hills. Not only is the food delicious and affordable but the staff is extremely kind as well. The restaurant is super clean, there are nice food and drink specials as well. Are you fishing for good fish? If you are in the Pittsburgh PA South Hills area this is the place to go! Outstanding fish! The service is excellent. The Servers really hustle and keep things moving. They are always pleasant and cheerful. The place has a full bar with seating and booths around the perimeter. They have an Upstairs area with tables. Not an over abundance of seating for the size of crowds they get. My advice is to go early and enjoy!!! read more

A friend of ours took us to this restaurant recently. This place rocks!!! They are quick to seat you even when it is extremely crowded and they have multiple serviers who literally take care of the entire restaurant and clients. I have been to Dorido's several times. Its not a frequent spot I hit up because it is about 40 minutes from my house. The restaurant is seat yourself. We typically go to the second level away from the bar (not that there is anything wrong with the bar). I typically order a fish sandwich when I come, and yes, that is what I ordered today. It is fried and oh so good. I also got a cup of clam chowder soup. No complaints there. I tried a bite of my nephews grilled cheese and was impressed how tasty it was. The restaurant is fair in price. You get a decent amount of food for not a ton of money. The server brings the check to your table but you actually go up to the bar to pay. There is a private lot with plenty of spots. I have only ever gone during lunch hours but the business is always booming. I will be back when in the area. read more

I recently visited my family and went to Dorido's with my daughter. The food is always great and so is the service.

I do love this restaurant and have had many good experiences here. They are a great place to get seafood. I was however disappointed by my take out experience. I got a simple grilled cheese and it was burnt on one side and not cooked at all on the other side. I was surprised to see something like this actually make it out of the kitchen... I definitely still recommend Dorido's but perhaps they need to make some adjustments in their line cook department. read more
