Absolutely horrible experience. My car was taken here, and no actual repairs were completed, yet I was told I had to pay thousands of dollars just to get my own vehicle back. They charged excessive fees for things like storage and teardown, even though nothing meaningful was done to fix my car. None of these costs were clearly explained upfront, and the total kept increasing without proper communication. I was never given a fair or transparent breakdown before the charges piled up. On top of that, they tried to claim there were additional damages to my vehicle that were never there from the accident, which raised serious concerns about the accuracy and honesty of their assessment. They also never contacted me directly about these charges. Instead, they told my insurance company that anything not covered would be billed to me personally, without giving me any notice or chance to approve the costs beforehand. It honestly felt like I was being taken advantage of simply because my car was already in their possession. Being forced to pay a huge amount with no real work done is completely unacceptable. I wish there were a zero-star option. The website said free estimate, but this is a LIE! Unfortunately, I did not review the reviews prior to taking my truck to Dorn's, which I now regret. I initially dropped off my truck for inspection related to an insurance claim. After several weeks and the denial of the claim, they refused to release my truck unless I paid storage fees and additional charges. Additionally, they removed the weather stripping from the roof and left it in the bed of the truck without ensuring it could be reused. When the claim was denied from the insurance company, I went to pick up my truck. Dorn's would not release my truck unless I paid a portion of the bill to retrieve my truck, and with the remaining balance from the insurance company still unpaid, they are now pursuing legal action against me in civil court. The insurance company reimbursed me for what I had to pay Dorn's but they are pursuing me. My truck was dropped off for a paint repair that was on top of my roof. The bill that I received from Dorn's was over three thousand dollars. There was no repair done to the truck just the weather stripping removed and thrown in the bed. Based on this experience, I found their conduct to be highly unethical, unprofessional, and driven by greed. Ranking as one of the biggest mistakes of my life, is taking my 6 year old Tesla model 3 to Dorn's autobody for repair. I was under the assumption that they were certified for Tesla body work. However, they have had their certification revoked, which suggests that they are pretty bad at repairing Tesla's, and likely other vehicles with sophisticated sensors. Of course, they didn't mention this when I contacted them. Instead, I received an email from Miranda Clare at Dorn's stating "We received your approved insurance estimate. After looking over the estimate from Farmers Insurance; we will just need a signed work authorization to confirm your drop-off repair appointment for May 13th". I made the mistake of trusting Dorn's and signed the document without first closely reading it. I just assumed that I wasn't going to get screwed by Dorn's, but in fact that seems to be their business model. They are looking to extract as much money from you and the insurance company as possible. The damage to the car was 3 minor dime sized dents in the driver's and passenger doors from a deer running into them. I was shocked when Farmer's estimated the repair to be $7628.78. I was more shocked when Clay Milburn at Dorn's estimated it to be 17k. After all, my car property tax was 19k. Dorn's apparently thinks that 3 dime sized dents are akin to a near write off. The adjustor at Farmer's told me that the additional parts requested by Dorn's were unnecessary, but Clay at Dorn's insisted that this is the way that Tesla is going. Which is ironic because how does a body shop that has had their certification revoked know which way Tesla is going? Anyway, it was already 2 weeks and nothing had been done, and it looked like there was a standoff between Farmer's and Dorn's. And I was paying for it with nearly $900 in rental car fees already. I asked Dorn's to reassemble my car and that I would bring it back when Farmer's and Dorn's figured it out. But Clay said that it had to remain disassembled for the independent adjuster. After three more weeks, I had had enough and demanded my car back. And this was just the beginning. Dorn's refused to give the money back to Farmer's. They took the $7628.78 and banked it for doing nothing but inconvenience me. Farmer's for nearly a year would not repair my car because Dorn's had absconded with the unearned money. In the end, I took my car to the only certified Tesla body shop in Richmond, Burleigh's. They were great. I dropped it off and it was repaired in less than 2 weeks at the estimated repair cost. No drama, no screwing the owner or insurance company. Just a reliable experience like you would hope. Now before you discount my experience as a one off, there are plenty of other similar complaints about Dorn's. Probably some of the most damning are written by previous employees on Indeed. Dorn's gets a 1.2 out of 5 on that site with one of the employees saying "Management is lacking scruples". It would appear that my negative experience is backed up by the employees who had worked at Dorn's day in and day out. In summary, do not take your car to Dorn's. Absolutely awesome shop, and I'd give a sixth star if I could. Clay rocks! I came in with a few scratches on the front bumper of my Model Y, and instead of going straight to charging me for some costly repair, they offered to wash the car and touch up the bumper for free to see if that would suffice. I need to preface this review with saying that several months ago someone severely dented my rear bumper. Dorn's provided world-class service that I was very happy with. The bumper came out looking like new. Recently, someone hit my car again while it was parked. Although the damage wasn't nearly as bad, I still wanted it fixed. Customer service at its finest I was sent there by a dealership and it had to be the best decision ever made. For the most part, all my vehicles are brand new to 2-year-old, but this particular vehicle was a steal, plus is was going to be my youngest son first vehicle, so I needed something that was going to be affordable, yet reliable enough for him to have and see how he would take care of it. I first met with clay without the vehicle and told him my situation, we talked for a bit and from the second he shook my hand, the atmosphere became comfortable. He made the transition, repairs and delivery of my boys first car so much more professional than more than ¾ of the dealerships I've dealt with when I've bought a vehicle from them. 80% of the time, I'm flying somewhere on business, Clay made very well sure to keep me up to date on anything and everything that went good or bad with this vehicle and a little note on that vehicle, not only did he arrange the pickup and delivery for it to his shop, this particular vehicle was not at the best of conditions as well (Just a little quick note) We stayed in touch 1 -2 times a week, he made sure I was up to date on this vehicle at all times. Finally, when the time came to pick the vehicle up, my job jammed me with an extra week and a half of work down south and I couldn't get out of it. SO, I called Clay up and explained it to him what my dilemma was and his response: "No worriers, do me a favor, call me a day or two before you come so we can have it ready for you, that way "YOU" don't have the extra stress on top of everything else you have going on right now, we have you covered here". Hit a deer with my cayenne. Took over four months to repair. Was given a timeline three or more times for the finish and all were never met. Repair manager never held to his word. When I finally got the car back. Oem parts they supposedly held to were not present. My starter cable was tie wrapped in place. My car failed several times. Repair manager denied culpability. Porsche found the tie wrapped cable put the OEM part that was supposed to be there in place and fixed the cable that was rusted because it was left out in the air to moisture. Problem solved. Wouldn't trust my car to go there again or anyone else's. Repair manager isn't dependable honest or customer oriented. Less than one star rating in my view. read more

Do Not go to Dorn's because they Were Tesla Certified, I expected quality and value most of that I did not receive. I don't think they even are Certified anymore. I took my new Tesla there in the summer after backing into a trailer hitch, ( the car shouldn't have let it happen ) but it did, so I brought it in to get fixed. They quoted me 3200 for a repair and 2 weeks. I said that would be great. I pointed out another small ding near my charger port that paintless dent repair would easily fix, I went on vacation for two weeks called to confirm the car was done and they said we contacted your agent. I told them I didnt understand how it went from done in 2 weeks to not touched and they said there was underlying damage and the car needed to be put on a frame machine for an under 5mph bump in reverse. Then insurance had to send someone out to have it explained because it seemed fraudulent they claimed the repair was now going to cost $22,000 possibly more and the whole side of the car needed to be repainted because of the bumper pushing in the upper panel, if they had estimated it correct the first time which i think they did not on purpose to get my car and milk the job for everything they could get. My insurance paid. they kept my car for three months and asked for extra time at the end to make it "Perfect" then after I got a ride to work and aligned to pick it up it wasnt ready for 3 days in a row. They tried to say it would be delivered to my home for free but when I dropped it off they wouldn't give me a ride to my work. The repair was close to 240000 dollars and then they wanted to drop it off at my house so I would be stuck with the result. I called and talked to everyone there to ensure it was not delivered to my home and I am glad I did. Before I got out of my rides car I could see at least 5 areas of concern starting with the gap in between the new panel and new paint blemishes as well as poor detailing that they asked for extra time to do and most important to me the new paint did not match and they painted the whole side of my new car for a rear bumper and quarter crease, probably all paintless dent repairable I wish I had known. The service person assigned to my car would never speak to me in person only respond by email after I told the receptionist why I was calling, after the at least 20 times I called throughout the 3 month ordeal until the day I came to get it and then wasn't there on the first day I came so another service person went over the issues with me. They kept the car 3 more days and fixed the gaps. blended the paint better 6/10, paint quality 7/10, has trash in it in places that should have been quality checked better. They scratched the window they removed so not that I had it tinted it stands out, They painted the whole side of the car that was not necessary and got clearcoat overspray all over the windows so I got to take a razer blade to my windows very carefully to get it off to regain my window clarity. They parked the car in the back lot and turned the overheat protection off in my new car so everything in it backed in a way that should have never happened warping the key into a piece of melted plastic, and it got so hot inside the center console upper tray bent down and melted Vaseline oozed out filling the bottom of my center console that I found after I got home to add to the list of things I shouldn't have had to deal with. Trim removed for the repair was put back lumpy and not straight making it stand out unlike its original form so I had to take it off and attempt to bend it as straight as possible. They never even fixed the second ding that they quoted 200 to remove but 24000 dollar repair later didn't touch, but they did do a good job of aligning my new cars doors that they removed ad painted to match the panel that was replaced below them. Then when I came to pick the car up in the rain and could tell if the paint was fixed because I have been paying for a rental forever and a new tesla I talked to my insurance who said since they didn't recommend the bodyshop that can stand by their work so I should take the car as is and if the quality is an issue take them to court. For this reason i picked up the car and not only did they try to sell me a paint and detail service plan that I clearly did not want but the service manager who had never directly spoken with me before said " sometimes it takes us a second time to get it right" which added to my complete disgust that I already was fighting at the time of the second pickup. So after getting the car home I spent at least 8 hours undoing the blemishes I could fix such as some kind of rock hard adhesive on the roof I had to scrape off, I am pretty sure the car has alot more miles on it now and feels like the steering is not completely centered but unable to view Repair Mode read more

My Tesla had a fight with my garage and the garage won :( anyway needed to get it taken care of and was referred to Dorns via Tesla, admittedly I was nervous cause of some of the reviews but I decided to trust them and I am glad I did! Not only did Rob (the person I worked with from the shop) keep great lines of communication with me throughout the week but was up front with me when there was additional work required on the bumper. When I arrived to pick up my car not only had it been FULLY detailed but it was plugged in and charging! The paint match was dead on with the factory color the bumper and fender looked perfect like it never happened. A estimate of 9 days turned into 22. When I picked up my car the battery was almost dead because the dome light had been left on. They failed to reconnect my antenna so I had to take it back the next day to fix that. I went to get gas and the tank cover door would not open. I had to drive home and pry the door open. Where to begin, truck had minor front end damage. Replaced hood,grill,bumper, lights and radiator, and A\C condenser. Week after week was told the same thing, " parts ordered didn't fit, wiring issues". Positives: My car looks great and is running great; Nikki and Shannon are very helpful and every time I emailed them with a concern or question they responded within a few hours...usually less; By what I have been told and by the look of the bill and pictures my insurance company's original estimate was only a 1/3 of the actual amount it would take to fix my car back to where it was before my accident...Dorn's worked with them to make sure that the correct parts were installed and no short cuts were taken in order to save the insurance company money; My repairs were not scheduled but Dorn's was willing to take on the job at the last minute...I greatly appreciated that, other shops told me it would be a month before they could even look at my car; finally ... the following concerns were addressed immediately following my initial negative review by Tony and I appreciate that he reached and showed how seriously he takes their reputation as well as the fact that he wanted to make things better moving forward. Concerns: It can all be summed up in one word...communication. As stated, when things became serious Tony reached out to make things right and I truly do appreciate that. Also as stated the front staff (Nikki and Shannon) did their best to keep me informed when I reached out to them. My concern is that not once did anyone reach to me with updates or progress reports. I had to consistently contact them in order to get any answers. Unfortunately the answers were rarely correct and that is what troubled me the most. I do not know much about body work, but I do know customers feel better about a company when the company keeps them in the loop, especially when a 2-3 week job turned into almost 8 weeks. I am still confused by how that happened, but I have a feeling there are a lot of things to came into play and it does not only fall on Dorn's. Also, my car was returned to me without being washed or swept out which I thought was odd, but maybe that is their practice. No big deal. So....would I take my car there again, I honestly don't know...the work was well done and that is important, Tony's communication towards the end was very reassuring and that too is important. He reached out and offered me free car detailing on top of the great deal you get when you have your car serviced there...4 free car spa's a year. That is pretty nice and I have not seen that at another shop. Taking over 7 weeks to get that upfront communication is concerning and that too is important. Do Not Trust Dorn's! I sent my car there after an accident because Dorn's was a "preferred repairer" referred by my Insurance Company. They are rethinking that reference now! They told my insurance company that my car was totaled, then when the adjuster came out to confirm, their estimate deflated quickly so the car didn't have to be totaled. They were obviously working to benefit the insurance company instead of the customer. They blatantly lied to me about various guidelines that they had to follow "Per my insurance company". They held my car and refused to release it because they had prematurely ordered the parts to repair the car. They lied to my face multiple times. Can't be trusted. My parents have had several occasions to use Dorn's on three different vehicles. Dorn's service was excellent. Their focus on Customer satisfaction is high. They know you may change insurance carriers but want to make sure they are your shop of choice should you ever need their services in the future. They use only Manufacturer Parts (Not OEM Equivalents or "Re-Cycled"). They have an excellent relationship with our Insurance Provider and when additional damage was discovered, negotiated the repair to favor the Customer. The paint match zone was undetectable. Scott, the Body and Paint Manager stands behind their work, assures the work is done correctly and that the Customer is happy. Several of my Parent's neighbors have had work completed there as well and have been pleased. Called this morning shortly after 8 to schedule an appt for an estimate for insurance purposes & was told hours of operation & that I did not need an appointment, to just come on in, so I said oh it's not that kind of party ( meaning they aren't that busy). Stopped by at 4:15 today to get an estimate & person at front desk told me that I needed an appointment, I chuckle & went on to tell her that was the purpose of my calling this morning, & was told I did not need one, I told her that's ok I'll go some where else.
