After they finished I showed them the coupon and they say I can't use it because my vehicle required synthetic oil and the coupon is for standard oil. They charged me $110 and let me use a $10 off coupon. I told them they should have told me the cost difference before doing the work. They didn't care. Never going there again. Review of Mechanicsville Firestone I would not recommend the Mechanicsville, Virginia Firestone to anyone, not even for a simple oil change. I've had a few minor services done at this location in the past, but something always seemed off. My most recent experience solidified my doubts. I took my 2019 Dodge Ram 2500 truck in for a state inspection and received a call informing me that the passenger front ball joint had excessive play and needed to be replaced for the vehicle to pass the inspection. I was quoted $695 for parts and labor, and I agreed to the repair, expecting it to be completed that same day. However, I didn't hear anything back until I called the next morning and was told my truck was ready. When my wife and I picked up the truck, she drove it home without noticing any immediate issues. It wasn't until I drove the truck on Saturday morning that the anti-slip service light came on. After contacting the service center and speaking with the manager the manager, I was told that nothing could be done until I brought the truck back in. By then, additional service lights for the ABS, 4-wheel drive, anti-slip, and trailer were all on. I dropped the truck off again, and The manger assured me they would look at it the next day, Sunday. By Monday morning, I was informed that the part they had installed was defective and that they were getting a new one. On Tuesday afternoon, I finally received a call to pick up my truck, but I was advised to contact a Dodge dealer to reset the computer. When I asked for reimbursement or a refund for the incomplete work that had worsened my truck's condition, the manager responded that they weren't charging me for today's work. Firestone's "Triple Promise" - "Fixed Right, Priced Right, Right on Time" - was clearly not upheld in my case. Mechanicsville Firestone failed on all three counts. This experience was highly disappointing and frustrating. I hope that Firestone will review the training and procedures at their Mechanicsville location to prevent similar incidents from happening to other customers. read more

Think twice about using Firestone Complete Auto Care at 360 and Compass point. I've purchased Firestone tires for years. Last time I needed an oil change and tire plug, I called, made an appt, left the car the night before. Went to pick it up just before closing time the following day and they had "missed" it. Ok, it happens sometimes. Last Saturday, I called to set up a tire plug, oil change and state inspection. The gentleman told me to bring the car in on Tuesday and they have it done on Wednesday. When I dropped it off at lunchtime Tuesday, I let the young lady know that I had spoken to someone on Saturday and was doing as he advised, so I could pick it up on Wednesday. They called me after 5pm today to let me know they couldn't do it and did I want to leave it another day. Nope. When I went to pick it up, I asked what the secret was to getting work done there, given my last two experiences. The woman I spoke to said they are advising people to leave their cars two days. I can understand being short-staffed. I can't understand why they didn't just tell me up front that it would take TWO DAYS for an oil change, tire plug and state inspection. I've just wasted my day off, and am riding around with a battery operated air compressor in my car til I can get the tire repaired/replaced. Moral of the story is there are too many good, local auto shops in Mechanicsville to tolerate substandard service. Live and learn. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I took my car in just to overall have a once over. My car is a 2007 and has been impeccably taken care of , it only has 85k on it and I have every sheet of paper and record of the regular maintenance on it. To get to the point they checked everything and came back with a ton of things wrong with it ( I knew immediately they were trying to screw me over I'm a woman , but a woman that actually knows about cars and the name of the parts plus how those parts all work together within the engine) to get to the point I was given a quote of over 3k to do work on my car that was not necessary. Needless to say I didn't make an issue just paid for the overall check of the car and left. Not so fast though cause guess what they didn't tighten the cap where the coolant goes it was basically just sitting on top not screwed on so I'm in traffic and guess what it starts to overheat can't imagine why I mean the cap where coolant goes in should be tightly placed on to maintain pressure so it works with the radiator , so in and so forth to KEEP THE ENGINE FROM OVERHEATING... thankfully I got pulled over and turned my car off in time but not before it degraded the oil I had just gotten changed ( have the records and date of when I got it changed btw) plus the coolant was almost completely gone. So now I wasted 49.99 to have them do a once over where they left the cap unscrewed , burning up my oil that I just had changed that cost $110 and almost blew up my engine cause they didn't screw the cap back !! So that's $160 down the drain and almost ruining my engine cause they didn't pay attention to the cap. Now I get to go spend another 110 at jiffy lube to get new oil !! Oh and they were gonna try to mess me over for work that didn't need done . All I can say is it infuriates me that they don't do better especially nowadays as expensive as any service is , just pay attention that's all they needed to do and they didn't do that at all. Let me preface this review by stating that I have an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology and worked as a mechanic in the service department of a dealership before retiring. Therefore, I know something about vehicles. We have a 2006 Ford Ranger 4x4 that failed inspection at a locally owned garage in Mechanicsville, VA. The lower control arms needed replacing and I wasn't able to perform the work without a lift. The estimate from the garage seemed high so we went to the Mechanicsville, VA Firestone. The service advisor asked us if the truck has a coil spring suspension or a torsion bar suspension. I told him torsion bar and he quoted an acceptable price. We made an appointment to have the work performed including a free brake inspection and tire rotation. We also requested the work be completed by noon, if possible. We dropped off the truck the prior evening expecting to have the work completed the next morning. Unfortunately, it wasn't ready until two hours before Firestone closed. So, it appears that making a prior appointment gained us nothing in terms of timely service! The following day I looked under the truck and to my dismay, the mechanic had replaced only the ball joints, not the entire control arm assemblies. Granted, the ball joints needed to be replaced but the truck failed inspection for worn out control arms. I also determined that a tire rotation had not been performed because I marked the wheels, and they were in their same positions. As for the free brake inspection, I doubt that it was done because we did not receive a condition report, orally or in writing. We took the truck back to Firestone a few days later for the tire rotation that we previously paid for. When I questioned a different service advisor about the control arm issue, he stated that they could not find the control arms in any parts stores, so they replaced just the ball joints. I don't believe this because the local Advance Auto Parts has the control arms in stock. After more dialogue with the service advisor, he then stated that Firestone can't replace the lower control arms on a torsion bar Ford Ranger because it requires a "special" tool that Firestone doesn't have. I don't believe this either because, if true, Firestone has lost a lot of business over the years because they don't have that tool. So, which is it? Was the work not performed because of a lack of parts or lack of a special tool...and why would Firestone quote us a price to replace the lower control arms in the first place if they don't do that kind of work? We ended up cancelling the tire rotation on the spot and received a refund. I'll do it at home. We are one and done with the Mechanicsville Firestone! read more

I was told by my Ford dealership I needed rear brakes replaced. I was quoted a pretty high price so I went to The Firestone on Broad Street near Willow Lawn in Richmond VA. Laquita Smith was very knowledgeable andset up an appointment to have the rear brakes replaced. She called me 30 minutes after dropping off the car to let me know my breaks did not need replacing as the pads were no where near replacing as of now. I have been going to the Compasse Point Firestone for several years. I recently took it in for a state inspection and an oil change. I received a call stating that my subframe bushings were completely torn through, and in order to pass inspection they would have to be replaced. This would cost me $2,231.06 for the bushings, and an additional $94.99 for a subsequent alignment after installation. That seemed outrageous to me considering I had absolutely no indication that anything was wrong with my car while driving it. I decided to get a second opinion, and was told that there was NOTHING WRONG with my bushings or my car overall. Firestone was just trying to take advantage of me, and used the fact that I had to get a state inspection as a money grab. I will never be going to Firestone again. If I could give zero stars I would. Took my BMW in for a routine state inspection and it needed my fog light housing replaced to pass. They said they could fix it. In the process of doing that, they damaged my car's headlight washing system and then ordered the wrong part and was told BMW would fix and I would be reimbursed. Well their mistake caused further issues with the headlight washing system that they are now saying they won't pay for to have fixed and I'm out over $700 for their mistake that damaged a system that worked perfectly fine previously. Mistakes happen but make it right. The manager was also rude, my calls were never returned. Corporate complaint system is a joke and they treat their customers poorly. best part...they won't resolve complaints even if you get the Better Business Bureau involved. I would not recommend going to this Firestone unless you have and hour and twenty minutes to spare for an oil change. I made an appointment, they gave the time, 1pm. The appointment was needed as I had to get back to work. In addition to an oil change, I needed a running light bulb replaced. I told them this when I called. At an hour and fifteen minutes, the tech comes out and says they don't see a light out. When I told him it was the running light, he went back to fix it. So, after and HOUR AND FORTY MINUTES, I paid $46 for a running light ($3 part + labor) and $36 for my oil change. This was my first and last experience with Firestone. read more

I recently ordered tires from tire rack and had them sent to this location. Im not very happy with my experience. These tires were sent as a package, tire and wheel. They were already mounted and balanced. I told the sales rep I'd be keeping my old tires so please put them in the back of my truck. After about 5 minutes of waiting he explains that they want to take the TPMS sensors out of my old tires because the TPMS sensors in my new ones might not work with there tools?... basically they wanted to take everything apart. I asked them to please just put them on the way it is and try it out if the tool doesn't work I'll deal with it. They were fast and everything looked great, however the sales rep who did up the invoice charged me $70... he printed out the invoice and handed it to me. After walking out the door I stoped and checked the invoice. Low and behold I had charges for recycling tires, and mounting and balancing. I did an immediate about face and forward marched my happy @$$ back in and asked the same sales rep "why are you charging me for recycling tires that I'm taking home and for mounting and balancing tires that were already mounted and balanced?" I was given a refund after I returned, but they let me walk out the door knowing that they overcharged me... there excuse when I returned. "I forgot to remove the charges." If I didn't question them I'd of left with unnecessary charges. Please check your invoices and based off some other reviews don't be afraid to go get a second opinion on your car or truck. read more

Dropped the car off for a misfiring issue and received a call the next day saying they blew the new motor! This apparently happened when two mechanics were out test driving(hot rodding) the car. I spent over $8000 for this new motor, only to have Firestone quickly destroy and blow two rods through the block. Car is worthless now and Firestone Corporate has stated that they will not be liable. How do you bring a running car in and then want you to pick it up on tow truck!!! Today I dropped my car off at 9am to have a state Inspection which they said it would be ready by 1. I said perfect then I call at 12:30 saying they are running behind which it would be ready by 2. Now it is 1:30 and they called me saying they can not get to my car at all today. This is the third time this has happened at this facility. If any Firestone employees are looking at this then I want the General Managers number to whoever owns the Mechanicsville Store. They put the customers last!! I went to Firestone on 11/28/18 for oil change after checking car they said brake light was bad, the rotor on back of car bad and brakes. I said to do oil change only my husband check brake light it was loose. I took my car to regular mechanic he said nothing was wrong with my rotor which I knew because they were replace less than year ago. Also not on my paper work my wipers were bad but they were replaced less than 2 months ago. I hate it when automotive place tries to take advantage of women, which when he told me this i knew he was wrong. I will not be going there again. read more

This firestone in particular is outstanding. I called ahead a let them know that I had a nail protruding from my side wall on my drivers side rear tire. I had recently prior to this purchased 4 tires months before including the road hazard warranty (get the road hazard warranty!!!) They fit me in the next day with no appointment. Last time I went to this store and it will be my last visit there. Had my wheel alignment checked and they gave me a laundry list of things that need to be done. wipers, cabin air filter, struts, front breaks, tires. 2011 Toyota Camry, mileage 66, 719. Total for the day $2,404.62. The total for the "front" breaks was $950. They wanted to charge for pads, new rotors and new calipers. I took my car to the dealership and they put brake pads on and turned the rotors, nothing else needed $260. They said I did not need struts. I had a few other maintenance type things done at the dealership. They gave me a $57.00 discount. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. read more

Honestly, the first time we went in it was for a simple flat tire repair. My husband agreed to have the free inspection that was offered. Long story short , due to some errors they ended up having to replace our radiator. While this was frustrating, Dwight the manager made sure that the repair was done correctly and went above and beyond to make it up to us. Took my car to Firestone almost 2 years ago because I had a nail in my tire, did not ask them to look at anything else but they do their "courtesy check" the "courtesy check" turned out that I needed all 4 new tires, rotors, brakes, brake pads, & windshield wipers. My car also only had 58k miles,they're "professionals" so I got it all fixed. 1 year later, I needed new brakes/ pads again, I got them, then they were so squeaky so I took them back a couple days later, they fixed the squeak, for free, but then I took my car back in yesterday (not even a year later) and made an appointment for 2:00pm to get a simple oil change & my inspection, I did not leave until 5:30! They said I needed new brake pads AGAIN. But they fixed them for free because "they had messed them up the last time & just saw that" Then they tell me I had only gone 10k miles but was metal to metal on the pad..How is that possible?? They rejected my State Inspection & they're the ONLY place I have ever taken my car to be worked on. Told me I needed new lower control arm with ball joint & tie rod ends, & an alignment (over $1,000) I took my car to a different place today and they physically showed me where a Firestone employee had dug a tool into my ball joint and messed it up manually! My car has 82k on it & no unusual activity, no irregular tire ware, no wobbling or play in my steering at certain speeds. My car passed inspection from this other place & told me my control arm needed to be changed in a few months ONLY because of the damage firestone did to it. If you want loyalty & honesty from your mechanic don't bring it here because you'll leave with more wrong than when you went in! read more
