This is the bar that is attached to Hotel Valencia along the Riverwalk in San Antonio. We arrived late Sunday night and this was a convenient stop. We were pleasantly surprised by the food, but the service was excellent! Yesenia was fantastic, made us feel very welcome, and even accommodated our request for an off the menu item. Located 2nd flr of Hotel Valencia. Due to wonderful weather we dined el fresco on the patio and had excellent food and service. Hubby ordered the fish, which I tried, and I ordered the pork ravioli. We shared an order of perfectly grilled asparagus enough for 2-3 people. The fish was moist, flaky and flavorful due to being cooked with sliced lemons inside. The pasta dish was served in a baked casserole-like dish topped generously with fresh tomatoes and bell peppers plus mozzarella. Nice touch at the end when they served cinnamon cookies as if I needed more food. Enjoyable meal with my glass of malbec. read more

Do not get the chicken chaser salad. Was the worst salad I have ever ate in my life. Also charged almost $40 for two medium sized dinner Cesar salads. Also through a piece of disgusting fish with bones in it. I am pretty sure the other food is good, but the salad is a no go. read more

Service justfies a five star rating. But the food quality left a bit to be desired. My steak had more than acceptable amount of gristle. Especially for the price. The steak was of Choice quality or maybe upper level of Good. Definitely not Prime. Wife had the Paella which she really enjoyed. We will not return. The parradilla was tasty. So was the asparagus and the Caesar salad. The Malbec wine was good as well. We liked the cheesecake; it was not too sweet. For some reason, everyone around us got bread but not us. The ambience was good for date night. read more

Was in town for a medical convention and one of my coworkers had a birthday. Was looking for a great place for a night out to celebrate on a Friday night and made reservations - Dorrego's was perfect! It was a little cool to be on the deck so we sat inside, great atmosphere. The empanadas are AWESOME, make sure you order enough! I had the salmon and it was very good, they also brought a dessert to share for the birthday girl. The only down side was that we had to ask our waitress if we could order drinks. Will be back! read more

Yesenia was outstanding bar tender kept me and my friend entertained , recommended some of the best drinks I town and also recommend the best food in the restaurant. Solid standard breakfast here. We had a bed and breakfast package at the Valencia hotel and so are here all week. They do a decent buffet and have a menu as well. Our favorite server was Isam who gave us a perfect touch of Southern hospitality with breakfast. We were also impressed with Abby who remembered our name after the first day! Combining breakfast with the hotel stay saved a lot of time and got us more time for sightseeing. read more

Stopped by for lunch with my coworkers. Early arrival at 11:30am. Service was awfully slow. Little attention was paid to refill our beverages during lunch service. Our lunch turned into a 90 minute torture test. All for food that was very ordinary. I had Friday lunch special. Two hamburger patties on dry bun that looked like charcoal briquettes with flavor to match. Disappointed in such a high profile hotel restaurant. Tourists beware. I stayed at the hotel and went down for breakfast at 9am, only 3 other tables were already seated. I watched two waited pass close by my table 4 different time, check coffee temperature and refill water glasses. Another party came in and was immediately seated and greeted. After 10 minutes of no one coming to my table to place my order or look at me I get up and go to the hostess stand and ask if I can get service. She apologized profusely and the hostess took my order. Felt like racism and I hate to pull that card but that's how I felt. The manager then came over and apologized and offered to take care of my meal. I did t want a free meal just the same service as any paying customer. Oh well. read more

This is a high-end hotel, so of course the food is great but what really topped it off was our waitress Danelle. She was the perfect blend of professionalism and friendliness. She took an interest in us - finding out where we were from and asking us about our visit to Texas. She brought us everything we needed, made us feel at home and left us with smiles on our faces. We were teasing one person in our group about a raccoon hat he was wearing and she made us laugh by asking a couple questions about it. I've only written a couple of reviews so it's not something I do often but Danelle really made an impression on us. I usually find that a waitress is either really pleasant and enjoyable to be around or they are just really great at getting the job done. It was really refreshing to have an efficient waitress that was personable as well. Btw, they have great hot chocolate here and we went to the bar late last night and had probably the best strawberry ice cream ever made! read more

While researching a nice place for a rare date night with my wife, we searched for Argentine food, leading us to Dorrego's. The website make the appearance that this is a chic Argentine restaurant with an upscale ambiance. This was exactly what we were looking for in our night out without the kids... something quiet, upscale, and where it would be appropriate to dress up more than usual. I was expecting something more akin to Bohanan's, which is just down the street, or The Silo. Instead we found Dorrego's to be a loud, mediocre hotel restaurant filled with loud tourists wearing everything from cargo shorts and t-shirts to off the rack jackets and jeans. The only thing "chic" about this place was the prices. Our server, Madison, was very friendly, and felt the need to apologize too many times about the noise level from two very large groups. Instead of ordering the overpriced meals, we opted for a glass of wine and a few of the appetizers. The wine was maybe a 6/10, but the amount of wine that was poured for $12 a glass was maybe 4 oz, and far less than one would expect for the price and quality. The empanadas were tasty, and the chimichurri was about a 7/10. Not the best I've had, but still tasty. In all, we spent $50 for appetizers and two glasses of wine, and left to eat dinner at a place more fitting for a quiet date down the street. Greatly disappointed. read more

Booked a table for 5:00 pm. Clearly they are not ready at this time. Came by to take our drink order at 5:15, and we ordered our entrees at that time as well. We were still waiting at 6:00 pm. They apologized saying our order was lost. How, with only 3 tables occupied, the order could be lost, I cannot figure. Finally got our food about 6:10, but one dish was wrong. The prawns dish was just ok. Empanadas very good, as was the asparagus. Mixed drinks were good. Staff was nice, but somewhat inept. They tried to compensare by offering free drinks, but did not offer to comp a round of the two we had already had and paid for. Probably won't go back. There is no shortage of good restaurants with better service in downtown SA. I will say that decor is beautiful! read more

We are from Minnesota and decided to escape winter for a long weekend and come to San Antonio. I have been wanting to see the Riverwalk, especially decorated for the holidays. So beautiful! The hotel we chose is the Hotel Valencia. It's in the perfect location and has a great bar and restaurant, Dorrego's. We've sat at the bar two different nights and had amazing service from Shawn who makes awesome drinks and throws in a few magic tricks! There's another bartender but I know I will crush her name, so sorry, Lorensia (?). Both gave us exceptional service and were very friendly. We ordered food one night, the Chacuterie plate and the Mushroom Risotto to split. Both dishes were wonderful. We love to sit at the bar because we get to talk with the bartenders and meet new people sitting at the bar as well. Met a couple, Becky and Bill, from North Carolina. Great couple and we met up at the bar two nights for drinks and conversation. We will definitely stay here again! read more

This place seems kinda new (3rd Yelp review here!) and they still had a sign out front that said "coming in May 2017!" But the service was good - our waiter was a little young but did a fine job, the food was excellent - recommend the Duck Empanadas! Fairly decent wine selection. Decor was very nice, and they have a nice patio overlooking the river walk (but thankfully elevated so you get less passer-by noise). All in all a great find, I will come back here again! read more
