Beautiful place to stay , great atmosphere, great people, and the beach right outside the door, also 21 ocean front restaurant on the bottom floor with such an amazing view from inside , food and the night was very enjoyable Great times great memories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Somewhere between okay and good. You are in Newport and you are steps from the beach so it is pricey. Also, it is historic so expect to see some age in your accommodations. Each room is different, most have windows that face the parking lots / neighboring businesses. If you are a light sleeper, you'll want to get the room in the middle. It has the least amount of exposure to the noises of the surround area. Confirm the following with the hotel before booking. Got this from a few different websites: Room #: 1, 2 & 5 (ocean view) - Queen bed 3 - Ocean view, King bed, 248 sq. ft. 4 & 6 - Patio access rooms 6 - 291 sq. ft. 7 - Ocean, king, dining table, 398 sq. ft. 8 - Ocean, king, dining table, corner room 9 - Bay window, king, 291 sq. ft. 10 - Large room, king, noisy, 495 sq. ft. Bellagio - Large room, king, dining table, wet bar, 495 sq. ft. Also, I booked through American Airline and receive points towards the annual loyalty goal. It is directly attached to 21 Oceanfront. There are stairs that go from inside the hotel to inside the restaurant. Reservations recommended if you are going on a weekend. Bar area is first come, first seated. Reception from the bartenders seems to depend if you are a local or not. Some friendlier than others. But, back to the hotel. We liked the quaintness of the rooms, felt a bit like being at your well-to-do Grandmother's house. Free breakfast is really just enough to get you ready to go eat elsewhere. But, if you have kids, they have cereal, yogurt, breads, coffee, some juices. Was okay and actually got us through to lunch. Valet parking only. No where to leave your car in self-park without paying for meters and remembering to go back out and re-feed it. Valet is for both the hotel and 21 so may take a bit to get your car. But, you can walk over to the lot and get it quicker if you are in a hurry (they will most likely have to move cars to get to yours). As mentioned, it's a shared valet lot. We had fun, hope you do too. Enjoy!!!

Let me start with the positive. The view from the room was beautiful. There is so many great eateries around the hotel. The beach was very peaceful. Now the negative. There was mold in the bathroom. The front desk attendant sprayed bleach over it and wiped it off. She said she would let the manager know. The only thing she could offer me was a refund if I checked out. I don't think that was very fair. It was too late for me to find another place to go so I had to stay. I had to leave my room door and all the windows open to air out the room from the chemicals she used to clean. The hotel seems like it has been forgotten. The clock in my room didn't work. The toaster that is used for the continental breakfast was broken. Another hotel attendant had to stick her hand into it to fix it. I don't think this hotel was worth what I paid for it.

How do I even begin? Starting with Andrea. I called to make a reservation and she immediately was willing to help me with my little staycation for my husband's date night. Super attentive, happy and willing to go above and beyond. She understood that this was something fun for my husband and I to have a date night. Even though we live locally. Never underestimate the power of an amazing small hotel. If you're looking for a complete comfort, relaxation and beautiful scenery. It sits directly on oceanfront Boulevard right at the pier. We had a beautiful day. The staff was so attentive to all of our needs. I will tell you right now 21 oceanfront restaurant is the place to eat. If you're looking for amazing food, drinks, and service. Look no further. this is hands-down. Our favorite place to go now. Big shout out again to Andrea. I will be calling the owner and letting them know if she needs a perfect star We loved the antique feature because we do love antiques so that was a perk for us. But I'll tell you you will not realize you're in an antique anything it's everything is upgraded. It's beautiful. It's wonderful this day at. Thank you again to the Dorymans staff for making our stay so wonderful.

Notice for non operational elevator for over 24 hours on 2/8-10/25.

We booked a 2 night stay at the Doryman's Inn. and it was the worst night sleep of all the hotels I've stayed in. According to Expedia, I spent 34 nights in hotels in 2024 with their year end summary. I know my hotels. The Doryman's Inn is very charming and the location is excellent, until I realized that being with inches from a huge parking lot would keep me up all night. From drifters, tailgating in the parking lot at 1:45am, to motorcyclists peeling out and revving for attention, to partyers smoking up right below the thin windows in Room 5 (ocean view prices with parking lot vibes), to a maintenance worker banging around at 8am, I will not be returning and highly recommend you look elsewhere, too. Did I mention that the power went out, our room was cold due to the cracked skylight window bringing in a draft-- to non-operating elevators for over 24 hours? The "breakfast" isn't even work mentioning. The coffee was so lukewarm and watered down that I just poured it down the sink. Not worth it. Just keep scrolling. Oh well. No management to offer any apologies or updates to limited power, meanwhile there is a high end restaurant downstairs with no complimentary canapés for the inconveniences. Thoroughly disappointed.

This place is awesome! The vintage feel was unique and tasteful without feeling aged and worn down. The room was spacious, great views and a beautiful window seat. There was a skylight in the restroom and it let in a perfect daylight. We had a door that opened onto a patio so we had a beautiful view of the ocean right outside our door. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The location can't be beat, we were in the middle of the action, tons of food options and just feet away from waves crashing on the shore. Our room was next door to the breakfast area and it was not a disturbance or overly noisy. Loved this hotel and so glad we went here for a relaxing night away.

This place is very clean and in a convenient location. We arrived Friday evening and the parking situation was not great. Although we were guaranteed parking, the lot was pretty full. We were allowed to park in the loading zone until 8am the next morning, which was nice but just sucked we had to wake up early to move the car. Covid protocol is lax. Most people wore masks, but the policy wasn't enforced. A guest was coughing up a storm in the breakfast room so we skipped the complementary food that day. An employee was training someone at the front desk and was also not wearing a mask. We stayed in the bellagio and kept to ourselves mostly to avoid the crowds. The rooftop views are great. We decided to take a lot of our food for takeout and eat up there away from the massless crowded bars and restaurants. The location is great and within walking distance to everything. We got in lots of steps! The room was clean and comfortable. You can hear the partying with the windows closed but that was no big deal. We could also hear cops clearing out the bars between 2-3:30am. You couldn't hear other guests or between walls. We also ended up getting room service from 21oceanfront. It was quick and convenient. Food was decent and not priced too bad. I'd definitely stay here again once Covid eases up and I'm not so scared of the rampant disregard for public health.

One thing I noticed before booking the first time was that a lot of the reviews are from before the property became VEA. In my opinion, those older reviews don't do the current resort justice. The transformation has been impressive, and the experience today reflects that. What really sets VEA apart is the people. Great hotels are built by great teams, and the staff here consistently goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. A special thank you to Mike, Brett, Jen, Tyler, Calvin, and Kieu. Whether it's at the front desk, around the resort, or behind the bar, everyone is genuinely friendly, remembers returning guests, and creates an atmosphere that makes you want to extend your stay. The bartenders deserve a special mention as well. They make the Edge Pool Bar and Lounge a couple of our favorite places to unwind in the evenings, with great drinks, engaging conversation, and outstanding service. Another highlight has been the live music. If you're lucky enough to catch Drew Cole Music during your stay, don't miss it. We've seen him perform three different times at VEA, and each show has been fantastic. It's one of those little touches that elevates the entire resort experience. Between the beautiful property, outstanding service, relaxing atmosphere, and live entertainment, VEA has become one of our favorite Marriott resorts in Southern California. We already look forward to our next visit.

We were so surprised at the way we were treated by EVERY employee- this does not happen any more anywhere! From valet to check in to maid service to bellman to bar and restaurant staff. Everything was so perfect. They do have some construction going on in the front lobby area so check-in was moved to a smaller area and there was a line, but the line went fast and the employees were smiling, offering us water bottles, telling us more bottles were in our mini fridge in the room plus a free bottle of wine and handed us a glass of champagne at check-in! We were shocked actually lol Our stay was amazing. We were there for a baby shower. The shower was held in a room right off the deck where all the yachts were parked on the water. It was beautiful, the food was all delicious made by the restaurant on site. In the evening, we stopped by the bar and all the fire pits were going right next to the water & yachts. Perfect ending to a great day already. They have a free shuttle/suburban that will take you anywhere within 2 to 3 miles and pick you up. It runs 8 AM to 8 PM and that was a great addition to our stay and the drivers were so friendly. Just need to tip! The cafe food for breakfast was perfect. Lots of great pastries, try the bacon Asiago scone-obsessed! They had yogurts fruits egg bites and sandwiches as well. And coffee of course. Water stations were everywhere in the resort which was great! Pool area very nice and has a bar. Perfect. This hotel is not on the beach, but is on the water. You could have the shuttle take you to the beach w your gear and pick you up if needed. That works out perfectly. Definitely will stay again. The treatment we received was A plus!

Extremely Disappointed -- Cockroaches, Dirty Pool, Construction Noise & Terrible Management…read moreResponse My husband and I stayed at Balboa Bay Resort with our 9-month-old baby. I specifically booked one of the better rooms with a beautiful view because I wanted us to have a relaxing stay and enjoy a nice dinner together. Unfortunately, the experience turned into a nightmare. A cockroach bit me, and we found at least six more cockroaches during our stay. There were also cockroaches on the balcony. I was so uncomfortable and disgusted that I couldn't sleep, relax, or even enjoy our dinner. The pool was dirty, and the day after using it, my 9-month-old baby developed a fever and an infection. He had never been sick before, so this was extremely upsetting and concerning for us. On top of everything else, we woke up to loud construction noise. We were never informed before our stay that construction would be taking place. The hotel told us that Booking.com should have notified us. However, when I contacted Booking.com, they told me that they had not received any construction notification from the hotel. What disappointed me most was how the situation was handled by the manager, Rami. I explained everything that had happened and requested a refund. He told me there was nothing he could do. What was even more upsetting was that I didn't feel that he genuinely listened to my concerns or even offered a sincere apology. I also explained that they could check my history -- I have stayed at Balboa Bay Resort many times. It was one of my favorite places. I wasn't someone simply looking for a reason to complain or get my money back. I was a returning guest who had genuinely loved this resort, which makes this experience even more disappointing. When guests are paying premium prices for a luxury resort, they should not have to deal with cockroaches, cleanliness concerns, unexpected construction noise, and then feel dismissed when they bring serious concerns to management. I am extremely disappointed and angry about how our stay and complaint were handled.

I was attending a wedding in Orange County and this hotel was part of the wedding block, which they extended by a day for me. When I arrived after a day of travel from the East Coast that became longer and more adventurous than I cared, it was great to be offered two different types of rooms and be personally shown the difference. I chose one on the Ninth Floor. Everything worked in my room, except the shower head, which apparently had been replaced before and now no longer fit precisely in the clamp not made for this shower head handle. It will need to be replaced again, because it falls to the shower floor when the water is turned off and the buttons on the handle adjust themselves to appear to shut off the water flow. This room on the Ninth Floor was a handicapped room and there was no shower door, so this allowed only a small trickle of water out the opening. This is often a problem in hotels, but not here. The televisions worked properly and the thermostat kept the temperature where you wanted it, another issue at hotels. I actually turned the air conditioning off, given the blanket or comforter is not thick enough with the AC on and the ambient air was comfortable without the AC. The AC unit could run a little quieter when in operation, but was comparatively quiet when measured against other hotels. Housekeeping was dutiful and deserved to be tipped, which I did. She was patient with my morning schedule and semi late breakfasts downstairs. She reset the room properly each day. Speaking of downstairs, they have a good bar serving up drinks with quality jumbo ice cubes. My Manhattan was very good. I had a beer poured cold another day. Each time I had breakfast, I had the Denver Omelet coming with well prepared hash browns. The omelet is a three egg omelet with ham, onions, and mushrooms with cheddar cheese. It's a substantial omelet and breakfast for twenty bucks. Served with ketchup and hot sauce at your option. Service is also quick. Given the hotel's proximate location just ten minutes from SNA and Newport Beach in the other direction, your Uber rides will not be overtaxing. 4.2 stars

Unfortunately, the service at this property does not match the luxury prices being charged. The…read morefront desk staff was great and the staff at Mayor's table was also great. However, the staff at Crew and the pool need some training. At the pool, there are five cabanas, yet a group with several infants and toddlers was placed in the cabana directly next to the lounge chairs where guests were trying to relax, while the other cabanas sat empty. Small children are naturally going to make noise--that isn't the issue. With multiple empty cabanas, the staff should be more thoughtful about placement so everyone can enjoy the pool. The pool staff also need to be much more attentive. At a luxury hotel, staff should regularly walk the pool area, check on guests, clear items, and offer food and beverages. Guests shouldn't have to search for someone when they need service. Our experience at Crew the next morning was equally disappointing. The employee who served my husband and me never greeted us, never smiled, and acted as though helping us was an inconvenience. I asked to see the chocolate croissant and had to press her to show it to me, even though no one else was in line. I later accidentally spilled my coffee and told her, and she didn't even offer to replace it or ask if I wanted another. I wasn't looking for a free coffee and would have gladly paid for another--it was the complete lack of hospitality that bothered me. When you're paying $500 to $1,000+ per night for a standard king room, plus substantial fees, the service should be impeccable. Luxury isn't just about beautiful surroundings and high prices--it's about making guests feel welcomed and taken care of. Both the pool and Crew fell short, and management needs to put a greater emphasis on customer service and hospitality training.

When Spring Break calls…read more.... You certainly don't ignore it. You definitely don't reject it. And if you just happen to miss the call... You most certainly better call it back! My advice: Just pick up the phone. Well on April 7th, 2026 Spring Break hit me up and told me that Spring Break was definitely on and Huntington Beach was the place to be. Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa enters the chat. ------------------------------------- Being that it was Spring break for the kids, we wanted to give them some much needed rest from school and what better way than a little fun in the sun poolside. So we put our earned Hyatt points to work and took a 3 day escape to H.B. The Parking Sitch: Of course we did our research on the hotel prior to our trip and saw that valet parking was $60 per night!! So my wife did some further research and saw that the Hyatt contracts with the H.B. Beach parking lot which is offsite and is located directly across from the resort for a lesser overnight fee (please note that it is a bit of a walk, so I highly recommended dropping the luggage and your family at the front entrance prior to making your way to the beach parking lot). There is a bridge that connects from the beach parking lot right to the hotel property. The lay of the land: This is a resort style hotel so the place is huge and it literally takes up a whole city block. Of course, there are resort style pools, hot tubs, restaurants, a spa and other resort amenities to make your getaway enjoyable. Things to do: When you are not soaking up the sun poolside or taking a dip into the pool, there are many walkable places down PCH with local eateries, shops and of course the beach! The stay: The rooms were decent, nothing special, but also nothing bad to report. The property itself is very large, we spent most of our time at the pool or chillen in our room. Overall, it was a nice getaway and we always enjoy our stay with Hyatt. So.... What's the plan for Spring Break 2027!?
