The food was tasty. I had a cheeseburger and my Dad had Baby Back ribs and we shared a basket of fries. We also split the chocolate chip cookie skillet, yummm. Ambiance was very nice, we sat outside as the weather permitted. We waited for a bit for food as our waiter mentioned that the kitchen was backed up on orders. I spoke with the waiter on how big the chicken breast would be and he mentioned that it is large so I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and was very disappointed. The chicken piece was basically a flatten chicken tender, thinner than the lettuce it came with. The smokehouse melt was good and had a good amount of meat in it. read more

Received a gift card for this newish spot from my family, who know I love to try everything! The venue here is pretty cool, they can open and close parts of it garage style to air things out when it's nice. It's got a bar section and a few table sections too. This day specifically they had a soft serve ice cream machine which was free! Not sure why or if it was new or what but a nice offer anyway. This is a more modern BBQ place, menu wise. It's got some of your classic options but it's got some fun options too! We got some classic sides to share. Mac and cheese, coleslaw, potato salad, and sweet potato mash. These all hit the right notes. The low end would be the potato salad which I wanted to be creamier. Good flavor blend though. The high end was the sweet potatoes which could easily be dessert! Don't skip these. Entrees, I went for the brisket tacos. Really delicious flavors. My one critique would be the uneven cook on my meat, which had a few perfect bites and a few that were too chewey. Tender is the name of the game in BBQ after all. The bark and seasoning WERE excellent. The prime rib sandwich special was enjoyed and looked quite good. I've got to mention the sauces, which were impressive! Right away I liked their classic sauce and I stuck to that one for this meal. I tried them all and I was really most blow away by the mustard sauce. I've had I don't even know how many different sauces from different establishments and this one stands at the top of mustard based BBQ sauces. Smokin Jack's BBQ restaurant is a nice addition to Mundelein's dining scene. From the date of this review, it has been open only for a few months. It's located near the area where Mundelein Farmers Market takes place. The restaurant is spacious, has nice decor, and a welcoming atmosphere. This restaurant has the same owners as Emil's of Mundelein and couple of other restaurants in other nearby towns. Upon arrival, we were seated right away. We took our time deciding what to order. Their menu had a nice variety. Prices were generally reasonable. Our server was friendly and helpful. We ordered a pint of beer and cider, 1 lb rib tips off the specials menu, Smokehouse burger and fries, Pulled pork, Texas hot link, a rib tip, and mashed sweet potatoes, and Brisket (marble cut) and Mac n Cheese. The selection of bbq sauces were at the table. Our drinks and food arrived shortly. The burger, brisket, mashed sweet potatoes, and mac n cheese were the best dishes on the table. The rib tips were meaty and tasted good but the texture was a bit tough when biting and chewing them. The brisket was tender and flavorful. Marbelized cut is the way to go. The burger was juicy and flavorful. The Texas Hot Link had a bit kick but was not quite flavorful per our liking. The sides of mashed sweet potatoes and mac n cheese were delicious. The beer and cider were refreshing and a perfect accompaniments. We liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. They have a bar, several TVs, and also a patio dining area which will expand come summertime. Overall, we liked the food and service and we'll be going back. Check them out. read more

I love supporting new restaurants, and this one recently opened. From the moment I walked in the hostess was very nice and same with the two bartenders. This restaurant is nicely decorated for a barbecue place and more on the casual side. The drink menu was very limited, but the bartender was accommodating and was able to make a very good French martini (I requested raspberry vodka). The portion was good! I ordered the Texas tacos with braised short ribs that were supposed to come with lettuce, cheese and onion strings. However the first time it came out was just with braised short ribs on a soft taco shell. I had to take it back and the second time it came out the way it was supposed to and it was very good. Definitely recommend! However, I recommend you pay attention to what ingredients are listed on the menu. I realize the restaurant is new but attention to detail is very important. I ordered a small order of cornbread, mashed sweet potatoes, and mac & cheese. The cornbread and mac & cheese were both very good. However, the mashed sweet potatoes had a "burnt" taste like they left it in the pot too long. I don't recommend the mashed sweet potatoes. The bread pudding with ice cream was also very good and amble for two people. However I recommend they use caramel sauce instead of chocolate sauce. A nice touch as they had a two-man acoustic band at 7 PM on a Friday evening and they got pretty crowded by then which is good to see. I give this place 3.5 stars. read more

Their hostesses are far more friendly than the wait staff. Ill stick my 4 stars despite disappointed in the latest i got there. My bud got the fish fry and liked it despite its not all u can eat. Not greasy, double batter fries. I got the brisket bowl and eh. It looked like an afterthought by the chef. Only 2 pcs of good brisket, lime rice with no lime flavor, maybe a tablespoon of pico and fried onion straws piled up to make it look like alot. I would say its a kids portion and shouldn't be $18. Husband had the pulled pork sandwich, I had the prime rib sandwich and we share the Texas Twinkie appetizer. Pulled pork was cooked well. Four sauce choices. Prime rib sandwich was fine. The "horseradish sauce" was bland, more like mayonnaise. French fries were a highlight and the coleslaw is creamy, not vinegar based. The ribs were not very meaty and dried out. The fries were limp, barely cooked and greasy. We ordered for pick up and it is the first time trying this place. It was amazing! My parents, my middle daughter, my husband and I were the group ordering (72 to 20 years old) and everyone loved ALL the food! The food is made perfectly. The flavors are out of this world. We had the nachos with pulled pork and loaded fries with pulled pork. These were a hit! The chili is full of meat and beans and flavor! Me and Becky heard there was a new Restaurant in Mundeline, and just HAD to give it a try. I had the worlds' Best Barbecue in Georgia a few years ago, so I have some Hight Standards- but was still impressed by the cooking here! The place was busy on a Saturday Night, but We were Sat right away. I ordered the Jacks BBQ COMBI and Becky got the Brisquet Sandwich, and they both came out Right Quick!! After sampling the sauces on the table, Becky went with the Jacks Original and I used the Tennesee Tang sauce- mine had a bit more ZING! to it. Jacked up bbq was a bit onioney for both of us. My sandwich was OK (tasty, but French roll got a bit mushy and didn't hold up through the hole dinner), but Becky had to text her sister immediately and tell her about the Brisket that "'Changed her Life!'"!!. She called it rich, soft tender and generous portion- everything you'd want your Brisket to be! If you're afraid of fatty Meat, Do Not Order This- it was not lean by any means, but that makes a Darn Good BRISKET. Slaw and Mack and Chease were both OK- bit annoyed that the meal didn't come with Sides and that the waitress didn't come refill our drinks during the meal. Tried for the first time. Sat at the bar while waiting for a carryout order. Ambiance was fine. The Bloody was very tasty, but full of ice. A few sips and it was gone. Pulled pork was fine, but the brisket was all fat - I'm surprised the kitchen would even serve those fatty pieces. I had heard positive feedback about this restaurant and ordered takeout due to its close proximity. I requested burnt ends without sauce so I could add my own, but they were heavily sauced, which overwhelmed the flavor of the meat, and made them almost inedible (had to scrap off the sauce). I also ordered a half slab of baby back ribs, which were already sauced as explained by the hostess; however, they appeared overcooked. The mac and cheese lacked flavor and was overly cheesy. We were so excited to try to this place but left extremely disappointed. There were 7 of us eating. 2 of us got full orders of burnt ends. Only one piece from each meal was edible, the rest was all fat. I can't find the video that I took of the food. Most of the table was disappointed with their food. The large sides weren't very large. The cornbread was gummy. Service wasn't great By the time the server came back, we felt it was too late to fix anything so we paid and left.
