This is my daughter and my new favorite go to restaurant. It's small and quaint. The food is good not the greatest ever but consistent. The house Margarita gave me a bit of a headache that next day so try upgrading the tequila maybe. They have a patio we use since I have a new puppy that love coming out with us. I ordered some tacos, fajitas, and flacas after a weekend of eating nothing but seafood. This place hit the spot! All my items were ready within 20 minutes of placing my order, and one of the friendly employees offered to help bring everything to my car. When I got home, all my food was warm. I enjoyed the asada meat which was flavorful and still moist, the flacas were also full of meat and crunchy, and the salsa was spicy. This place is close by where I get my hair done so a couple times a month I go in for my two grilled shrimp tacos and a margarita. Also with a side of refried beans. Great food ... great service. read more

Really bad experience last time we went. It was early in the morning, server clearly didn't want to be there, all food and coffee was cold and to top it of i got a hair in my chilaquiles. I did get my chilaquiles taken off from my bill but server never apologized or said anything about the bad experience. read more

Small but efficient restaurant. Tried their weekend special, the red pork posole, and it was delicious! The smothered green chile chimi was also a hit. Had a mimosa with lunch and plan on trying the marg flight next time. Oh and their salsa has an ingredient I must identify that gives it a tangy earthy flavor. Portions were very generous. Another great dinner and menudo for the weekend to have with a Michelada on a Sunday morning. Seasoning on the carne is very good and the macaroni salad is delicious. The tripe in the menudo is diced small which I like a lot. The only different thing is the bread that comes with the meal in lieu of tortillas but easily fixed with the ask of a substitution. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Would love to see this place expand so they can carry the vibe they have in a bigger place and have a bigger full bar. read more

The steak was very tender, lightly seasoned, and a touch of smoke flavor. My husband got the chilaquiles. I wish I would have gotten this one. It's a pumped up version of an enchilada. It's spicy, perfect amount of sauce, with a unique savory flavor. Food is made to order and they serve chips while you wait. They're moderately priced. The atmosphere is nice with a Tex-Mex style decor. Large TV on ESPN but you have to sit in the right spot to watch. Staff is friendly and attentive. I was really expecting more from this place. It is a cute little restaurant with the nicest little outdoor patio. Our service was great and the waitress would check in periodically. The food however fell flat. I ordered a chicken taco salad and my meat was too salty. I took most of it out, and the taco shell was overly greasy so I left like 97% of it lol. My husband got their shrimp fries basket and the shrimp I tried, holy salt lick! There was not much batter to the shrimps so it wasnt what we were expecting. My son ordered their Asada steak and for me it wasnt worth the price. I've had better carne asada at local carnicerias for far less. I expected the meat to be as the name states "grilled" but it tasted more like it was pan fried, I got none of the charcoal taste so that was disappointing. My Jamaica drink was too sweet for my taste even after the ice melted, I asked for water instead to wash down all the salt. I went for breakfast today, which by the way they serve Saturday and Sunday. It was really good, but not spectacular. I could make it at home, but for under $10 a plate I can come here instead. I got chorizo, eggs, and beans. It was refreshing to eat beans that weren't refried. That's all I can seem to get out here. They also asked if I wanted tortillas or chips. I would pass by this place everytime i went to run some errands. I finally had the opportunity to check it out. And i was not dissapointed. They have table service and a full bar. Daniel was our server and he was very nice. The place was homey and lots to see inside. They had some unique decor for the table. My mom became nostalgic when she saw a cotton plant on our table. Great new option in Laveen. The owners, Juan and Linda, are both so nice and run a great restaurant with wonderful food and great service. I had the Beef Saltado (it comes with fries & rice but I held the fries!) and it was very flavorful and delicious. Juan said the brisket is very good as well and described the time-intensive process to prepare it, and I will be back to try that next! They are in the process of getting their liquor license, and that will top everything off when they are able to serve beer and margaritas! After reading reviews we thought we try it. Very disappointing. Margarita frozen was awful. When I heard the blender I should've known. Chucks of ice, no flavor, and a lot is salt. Next, we ordered. When we ordered the chimichanga and relleno plate in an open kitchen I would think I'd hear the deep fryer. Nope- we got heated up plates of food. I don't know if their "fix it" is salt but the beef was way too salty. Although local and convenient we will not be back. I'd rather drive the 30 mins to eat elsewhere. read more

Dos Gordos is just the kind of place we needed in Laveen. It's nice to have another sit down restaurant, and neither the food nor the service disappoints! With a rustic-industrial feel (a lot of concrete and wood) the space pulls off warm, charming and crisp-clean simultaneously. The food is simple and delicious and continues the "comforting/warm but clean" feel, with layered flavors but easily recognizable and appetizing ingredients. Our server was perfectly attentive, seemed knowledgeable and more than capable of answering questions about the menu, and our party of three sat almost an hour after we finished our meal and never felt rushed. When I got my order and started to eat it, there was Pico de Gallo inside the chimi. I flagged her down to show her. When we were paying our server asked if we had cash /because the tip option on the machine wasn't working. Our bill was $30-$40 dollars more than what it should've been.
