Excellent food! Biria Ramen was flavorful and the radish on top was the perfect crunch.

The food, service, and ambiance were not it. I went for a day drink with my friends and was greeted about 15 minutes after sitting down. My other two friends showed up about 30 minutes after me and waited another 20 minutes for them to get their beer. Server approached my friend and said the cager was empty. So my friend ordered a bucket of beer. Another 15 minutes of us waiting just for her to bring her a beer in a glass. Mind you she had 3 other small tables Smh ! I Not busy at all. I asked my server for my chicken nachos that I had ordered when I ordered my beer . She brought them out not Caring that my guacamole was black, the chips were soggy and the beans and jalapeños were so dry from being under the warmer. I was like wow. Smh not a good place to get drinks and appetizers. We left right after. We literally were there close to two hours and in that time we only had one beer due to service being so slow to our table. I suggest the servers get more training or hire ones that want to work in hospitality. This type of service can break a restaurant. All the hard effort an owner puts in to make it happen and to just employ staff that don't treat your customers with good service is bad business. I'll try that place again in the summer for the roof top and be drunk before I get there. This will distract me from judging bad Vs good service. But never again for food or to expect good day service.

Very fun and good Mexican bar food. The service was excellent and we got a tour! Fun place in westport...give it a try. Make sure you go to the roof!

Came to Kansas City over the recent holidays to visit some friends, and Beer Kitchen came as a…read morelocal recommended place. Good food, good vibes, good beer selection, I was sold. So we loaded up and showed up one day around Noon. Ambiance was really cool. It's in the middle of some sort of progressive looking shanty-esque suburb. The kind of place that does drag queen bingo. I was right at home. Inside was college sport bar, but with a nice, huge board on the wall of all their beer selection. It Was quite expansive. Service was top notch, too. Nice server took care of us, made sure our glasses were never empty. The food came out at a good clips, and we got an unexpected bonus of free little beignet-like donuts with some delicious dipping sauces. As for food, we started off with a jumbo order of the Truffle Parmesan Hand-Cut Fries for the table. We got to choose two from their extensive list of aioli dipping sauces. Fries were good. Dusted with the perfect amounts of truffle and parmesan. And the sauces were my oh my. I recommend paying the upcharge to just try them all. I mentioned the time earlier, because we had no idea we were stumbling upon their brunch menu. Even more options to choose from! I got the Crispy Waffle Smash Burger (smashed hertzog beef patties, fried egg, smoked bacon, merkt's cheddar, caramelized onion, maple aioli, crispy buttermilk waffle). This thing was really nice. Perfect waffle, not too small, not too big, and no oily or anything obtrusive. A nice bun option. Eggs and bacon sometime get lost against giant burger patties, but with these smash patties, the extra accoutrements really stand out and make this burger really stand out in my mind. I also for the try the Smokestack Burger (smoked burnt ends, smoked gouda, whiskey bbq glaze, pickle relish, chipotle aioli & crispy jalapeño straws). Uhhh, as you can read, this thing was loaded with goodness. Fatty burger, smokey burnt ends, sweet boozy glaze, acidic pickles, and texture from that jalapeno. This was the perfect burger. I insist you order this. Overall, my research did not reveal Beer Kitchen to me, locals recommendation did. Shows that you gotta use your street smarts instead of your book smarts sometimes. Best meal I had in Kansas City.

The restaurant was…read morepretty busy when we arrived, so we chose to sit at the bar rather than wait for a table near the entrance. We started with the Mini Cheddar Biscuits to share, which come with four biscuits. They were excellent--fluffy on the inside with a slightly crispy exterior. The cheddar flavor hit first, followed by a touch of sweetness from the honey, and the combination worked really well. For my meal, I ordered the Fried Chicken, substituted the mashed potatoes for mac and cheese, and added a side of collard greens. The fried chicken was absolutely amazing, perfectly seasoned and fried. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and cheesy with a nice crunch from the breadcrumb topping. The collard greens were some of the best I've ever had. They had a great smoky flavor and were well-seasoned without being overly salty. The only downside to the experience was the service toward the end of our meal. We sat for around 15 minutes waiting for the bartender to come by so we could get drink refills and the check. We eventually had to wave them down, even though they were working right in front of us. Overall, the food was outstanding and easily made up for the minor service issue. I'll definitely be returning to try more of the menu.

We parked a block south on 51st Street and walked into the restaurant at 540pm on a Thursday. I ordered half the happy hour menu and my friend ordered a bottle of Moscato and the Ribeye. He smiled and said half price wine! Our server was attentive, but he ordered the food all together instead of coursing it out. I should have asked for half of mine to come out early as we were sharing. The tacos were ok, good flavor, but basic presentation. The Fries were delicious, the Brussels and Cauliflower were awesome. The Hawaiian Ribeye was also good, cooked perfectly, good flavor, but the chilled cucumber salad on a warm plate was an interesting choice... We were off to a show, so we didn't have time for dessert.

The photos looked amazing, and this place has solid reviews so I was walking in with a certain expectation. What was remarkable is how it was even better than I thought it would be. Let's start with the ambiance. The actual cafe is very small but charming. If it's cold or rainy outside you might need to skip Le Champion unless it's not busy as I think only a few folks can really fit inside. The inside is well designed though, and feels charming without being overwhelming. What stole the show for me though was the patio. As someone who studied abroad in France it felt so French to me in the best way. To me, it feels like taking a Parisian cafe and mixing it with a hip KC bar - it doesn't feel necessarily exactly like one or the other, but it compliments both and feels uniquely it's own in the best way possible. On the day I visited it was absolutely gorgeous outside and I had one of the best breakfast burritos of my life, mostly due to their chimichurri sauce. I also pretty much add a star for any place that keeps espresso tonic on the menu. Overall I love Le Champion and can't wait to return.

It was a lowkey vibe around 12:30 on a Monday and we chose to sit outside in the lovely weather. Our family of five decided on cheesy hush puppies, and the Whomp! Platter. Everyone at the table agreed they could eat five hush puppies by themselves! Everything came out hot, and in portion sizes fit for many more than the 3-4 the menu says it should feed. The favorites were: the ribs, the Mac and cheese and the beans. The ham was also exceptional, not overly smoked or dry! We loved both sauce options as well. Our waitress was kind, and knowledgeable about the menu, personable and swift with refills, napkins and clearing out used dishes. This is without a doubt the best BBQ spot we've found so far. We'll be back for sure!

There are also a few other bars and restaurants close by and I often forget about that area as being a destination so, I'll have to go out there more often. It has a nice laid back feel. The inside of the restaurant is clean and the bar area is spacious, it wasn't crowded so I had plenty of space to sit solo for a late lunch. The menu isn't the most inventive, just good old fashioned bar food. However, to me that really hits the spot a lot of the time, I don't need all the frills all the time. They had a good selection of appetizers as well as sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and daily specials. I was craving a BLT. Usually the Peanut is my go-to but I must say Tower Tavern may now take top spot. Especially for the price...$10?! Yes please. Also, I am a sucker for homemade potato chips so I loved to see that as the side option. The bacon was crispy not flabby and sad, it had the perfect salty bite. The shredded cheese made me so happy because it was generously piled on the texture is just nostalgic to me. The tomato was overpowering, sometimes a soggy thick slice of tomato can ruin a BLT for me. I will definitely be back to Tower Tavern to use my Pub Pass and to try some more food. If you're looking for a very solid bar with very solid bar food I would say give it a try! The prices are right, the beer was flowing, and the food was tasty and executed right.
