. Came with a group of friends to try this place because they're known for their Dosa. Place was kinda empty when we went on a weekday but definitely a place where you can bring a large party. We got a variety of dosa, entrees, dessert and overall, everything was just okay. The potato filled dosa (rava dosa) was better than the original dosa. The sauces that came with it was pretty light, not too spiced as I was hoping. The soya dish we got was good. But overall it was kind of lacking flavor or spice compare to other India food I've had.
SERVICE - located in Jackson Heights - well decorated interior but the ambiance feels casual and family friendly - servers are polite though not very friendly - food served relatively quickly - indoor seating available for small or larger parties - no wait on a weekend afternoon MENU - wide array of north and South Indian dishes - vegan and vegetarian options - average price FOOD - mysore masala dosa (6/10): dosa spread with spicy chutney and filled with potato masala served with sambar and coconut chutney. This was just okay, not spectacular. The mysore chutney was marketed as spicy but did not have a strong chili punch. The potato was cooked well though it is hard to mess up a masala. The sambar and coconut chutney that it came with were average. The portion was a good size for one person to finish. WOULD I GO BACK? Not likely.
This upscale restaurant serves dosa and other related items like idli and vada. The ambiance is cozy with low lighting, but the tables are placed so close together that you can overhear conversations from the party next to you, which is a major privacy concern. The service was also lacking. Our waiter brought us the bill even before all our food had been served. It felt like they were trying to rush us out of the restaurant as quickly as possible, which is not the kind of service you expect from an upscale establishment. Overall, I don't think this place is worth the price. The dosas were mediocre, and the service was poor. I had better dosas at other smaller restaurants.
A go-to spot for dosa lovers in Queens! Dosa Delight lives up to its name -- especially if you're here for the dosas. We tried the Special Rava Dosa and Pondicherry dosa, and it was hands down the best dosa I've had in New York. Crispy, flavorful, and just the right spice level -- 10/10. The Burnt Garlic Fried Rice was solid, with a great smoky kick -- 8/10. The Chilli Paneer Dry was tasty too -- not overly sweet or saucy, and actually quite close to the Indo-Chinese flavors you'd get back in India -- 7/10. We also had the Dahi Puri, which was fine -- nothing to rave about, but if you're into sweet chaat, it's a safe bet -- 6/10. The vibe here is simple and unpretentious. Service is friendly, quick, and no-nonsense. You're here for the food, not a fine-dining experience -- and that's exactly what they deliver. Go, eat, enjoy -- but don't expect a lot more. Perfect for a casual meal that hits the right spots.
I've had Dosa Delight saved for a while, and finally made my way to Queens to give it a try. Plenty of seating and no wait at all on a Sunday afternoon. The dosas are giant, but the batter is light and crispy as a good dosa usually is. The menu is long - but I went with classic masala and found the potato filling to be flavorful, and chutney and sambar were like most I've tried. I was also interested in trying the gobi machurian as it's one of my favorite foods, but they didn't quite hit the mark on this. Granted, it's not what they're known for, but the cauliflower wasn't crispy enough, sauce didn't hit the mark and it was a bit smaller of a serving than I expected. Definitely come for dosa, but don't know if it's worth venturing to other parts of the menu given the other options in the area for South Asian dishes.
Tremendous place. A must if you're in the neighborhood. Dosa Delight is a great vegetarian Indian restaurant specializing in --- as you might have guessed --- dosa. Their dosa is massive, thin, and delicious. There are a ton of variations and plenty of sauces. My absolute go-to is the Chilli Paneer Masala Dosa. Afterwards, I'll have a chai. The interaction of flavors is incredible. Aside from the food (which is very considerately priced), the service is pretty spot on. The place is small enough that as soon as you pick your head up to look for someone, they're practically at your table already. Food gets to you pretty quick, so if you go hungry, it won't be an issue. It can get a bit busy during dinner, but we've never had any problems getting a table. If you're in the mood for something non-veg, you might consider going to their sister restaurant Red Chilli. It's a bit more upscale. I've been doing to Dosa Delight for over 10 years. It's been consistently great and one of the few places I feel completely comfortable inviting folks to eat at.
Place is nice inside. My experience was for takeout only. I tried their veggie spring rolls and samosas. Both were excellent, I'd take 14 samosas if I could. Filled with soft potato and peas and the sauce it comes with, chutney and a green spiced sauce was the cherry on top. I'd definitely come back. Great spot for vegetarians.
Been here a handful of times and the food takes a while but overall it's tasty and consistent. The dosa is crisp, and the sambar, and chutney complement it really well. Service is so so here and it can get rather busy pretty fast. As a group we ordered the vegetarian masala dosa, palak paneer, and the vegetarian Hakka noodles. Everything is spiced nicely, all really shareable and good portions.
Great flavor and giant crispy dosas. Great to visit for the dosas in particular. Many of the other items are on par with other spots, or slightly underwhelming such as the paneer kathi roll and aloo gobi. Lots of good vegetarian options as with most Indian spots. Would return to try their Chinese fusion menu. Service was ok, at times odd and was strange that one of the servers was taking a photo of the diners in the dining room near closing.
I was super excited to try Dosa Delight because this is such a Jackson Heights classic and the dosas are humongous. We came on a weekend and the wait was supposed to be 10-15 minutes but we were actually seated immediately because they flipped a 2-person table sideways to squish 3 people which I thought was actually pretty smart. - Mango Lassi - I felt like this lassi's color was way more orange than the usual yellow color, but regardless, the lassi was delicious. I couldn't get over the mango taste of it and I wish they had more of the drink itself rather than the ice. - Masala Dosa - When the dosa arrived, we were all incredibly shocked by how big it was. I think this is the largest dosa/bread I have ever served to me. I love how many different textures the dosa had from incredibly crispy to slightly sour flavors. I also really enjoyed the sauces that went along with it, especially the spicy chutney that had bell peppers inside. - Pondicherry Dosa - I thought this was essentially the same thing as the Masala Dosa except they wrapped the potato mixture which there was way more of. I would order one or the other if I were to come back again. Honestly, each thing felt like it could be a whole meal alone. Overall, a great meal and would definitely come back for that humongous dosa again.
A solid Indian spot tucked into the Main Street in Jackson Heights -- stopped by as part of a food crawl and got a dosa to share. The dosa was yummy, but a bit too crispy... which is usually a great thing, but it was just hard to pick up any chutneys without it crumbling. The masala was FIRE, would definitely opt for a masala dosa! Skip the chai... too milky slash watery. Overall good experience, would come back!
I recently tried Dosa Delight for the first time and really enjoyed the experience. We ordered a massive paper dosa, a flavorful Pondicherry dosa, and a traditional Indian dessert (Moong Dal Halwa). It was a satisfying vegetarian meal overall. The dosas were served with a couple of accompaniments--one appeared to be a cucumber-based dip and the other resembled a light soup. While everything was tasty, some of the dishes were a bit on the salty side, and I found myself needing a lot of water afterward. The atmosphere felt authentic and welcoming, with a steady stream of local diners throughout our visit. It's also a good spot for larger groups. While we were there, they were preparing to accommodate a party of ten in the section we had just finished dining in. A little advance notice seems to help if you're planning to come with a big group.

Been meaning to try this place for over a year. Live a few blocks away. I've been missing out. The menu has a great selection of vegetarian dishes. We definitely will be back. The pondicherry seems to be their biggest hit though, im sure the others are good. Staff is super friendly, makes you feel comfortable. Had a great experience. read more

If youre craving Dosas and don't wanna spend too much, this is the place to go! It has so many types of dosas, you'll sit there for 10 mins wondering which one to pick! I had appetizers Papdi Chat and Dahi puri. Theyre both good and you can ask for extra spicy powder if its not spicy enough for you. The best attraction was the Cheddar Cheese Dosa. There was cheese under the dosa so when you pulled it you'd see cheese pulling out with it. There was also steamed masala potato inside in the middle that you could eat with the sauce. The dosa was longer than my arm its huge so have fun finishing that. You won't be eating for a while after you finish it. We stopped into this place and everything was good! We ordered the Dosa Delight Thali (which is a dine-in only menu item) and it did not disappoint. The flavors of all the different sides such as the lentils, chick peas, okra, carrots, and more were flavored so well!!! It was a perfect share for 2. We also ordered the Paper Masala Dosa which could be shared because it was so huge! The inside goodness that comes in the middle was seasoned potatoes with a coconut chutney- it was delicious! We also ordered the masala chai. You cannot come here and not get it. The aroma and taste are divine. The amazing customer service is also what made coming here worth it! Kumar was the sweetest man and was very attentive. At the end of our meal he sincerely said," I want to thank you from all my heart for coming here!" This restaurant is very clean and inviting. The prices were very reasonable for such authentic food! We came in the summer, and it was nice and cool inside. We will definitely be back! read more

Last week I ate a rawa masala dosa and drank a mango milkshake. The dosa was more like a regular dosa instead of being an authentic rawa masala dosa which is more impressive in flavor. The mango milkshake should have been whipped properly to be thicker with a deeper mango flavor. It was thin & acidic. My friend who brought me here told me that this restaurant had gone down but now was better. I did not agree. read more

Date: 6/27/21 , Sunday Time: 11:45 am Atmosphere: family- owned, basic Indian decor Cost: $10-$15 per person depending on what you get; our meal was approx $25-28 Dosa delight is in the heart of Jackson Heights, Queens. In what call the little India. It looks and appears to be a family-owned and run business Indian restaurant that serve vegetarian/ vegan/ kosher food. There a decent amount of indoor seating that still allow you to social distance from other people. The restaurant opened at 11:30am and we arrived at 11:45 am and there were already one customer seated. By the time 12:15-12:30pm, the restaurant has started filling up approx 7 groups/ families. We have ordered mango lassi, samosa, and chef special chur chur naan thali. Since it was first introduction to the restaurant , we wanted to try the chef special as it will provide us a varieties dishes/ items to try. Great value, decent portion, and the food was good; our favorite was the Samosa. Next time when we come back, we will try their dosa, hence the name of the restaurant. read more
Every time I'm in Jackson Heights, this is the place I come to. Poonam and AJ are so great and the food never fails to make my stomach happy. With their food and service, they definitely put the delight in dosa delight. ;) This last time I went I got the chef's thali and loved the variety. As one that can be indecisive, this was an excellent choice because I got to try three different curries. I particularly liked the paneer madhaki (?) and the paneer naan. It seems as if I'm a paneer fan and as someone that use to only get chicken tikka masala or butter chicken, that says a lot. The samosa chaat was also a great starter. Only thing was the chai - I've definitely had better elsewhere BUT like I said, they come and check in with you and when the one I ordered didn't quite meet the mark, they kindly brought another one that was much better without me asking. Seriously amazing service! The paper dosa was also a show stopper btw. One of the best things about this place is how they offer such a wide selection that includes items you may not find in your basic Indian-American food joint in Manhattan. On top of that, if you are craving an Indian dish that is hard to come by, you can ask if they can make it and they'll see what they can do. For that reason, my friend was able to eat his favorite dish - paneer 65. Desserts!!! The white one in the picture on the left is light and refreshingly sweet. The one on the right is hearty but a better way to describe it would be that it's perfect for the holiday winter season - if a dessert could be cozy, this would be it Overall, if you're looking for good food, a good time, and to have everything at a reasonable price with quality and quantity often enough that'll let you enjoy leftovers too, go to Dosa Delight and tell them hi on my behalf! :) read more

In general I like Indian food. I tried one in 7 years ago and I forgot the name of it. I really liked it but don't remember of that dish. I recently tried idli made by my friend and also dosa before and they both were delicious. It's my last day in NYC so I decided to come by to dosa delight and give them a try. I was greeted by a nice gentleman at the register which was a big plus. It was my first time at dosa delight but I knew what I wanted to get but I also wanted to get some curry like spicy so I asked the gentleman who I was greeted by if he could recommend me something. - I ordered idli which is steamed kentil with rice patties. It came with two sauces I did not like but the idli itself was good. - Papdi chaat I saw this on yelp and looked delicious but in the other hand I love chickpeas so I had to order it. It has fresh onion, it had cilantro (which I dont like).. & etc but it's my fault not checking it so I don't blame. -Dosa I tried before & it was soooo good but the one I ordered from dosa delight its not what I wanted. The lime mojito drink was good! I liked the drink!! Overall it was excellent service with dosa delight, will definitely recommend to friends. read more

Just as promised in name, the dosa was a delight! We ordered through Seamless for pick up and the whole process was great. Our food was nicely packed and labeled, and the pickup was safe and simple! Everyone was so friendly and wearing masks. Each dosa (we ordered 3, see pic) was divine, and our chana Masala and palak paneer were both so flavorful! What a gem of a place. Wish I had ordered mango lassi and maybe some appetizers. Next time! read more

So glad to have come across this restaurant. I am visiting from California and went to Jackson Heights to grab Indian food. To put things simply, the food was amazing! We ordered the paneer chili dosa and malai kofta and shared. I highly recommend this place. The ambiance (including the music) is wonderful and the staff are all friendly. read more

The dosas were well stuffed. our servers were good- mohammed and another server who recommend that i get average spicy on the pondicherry (trust me this is still very spicy)! leaving with a full stomach :) read more

Love Dosa Delight. First of all, the interior's great with all the mirrors, lights and set-up. Then the food is awesome too. I highly recommend all of the dosas (of course) but specifically the Set Dosa and the Pondicherry Dosa, the latter of which is my all-time favorite. It's stuffed with potatoes and veggies like a quesadilla, LOL, that's the only food comparison I can come up with. Definitely get a Kingfisher when you come here and use lots of tamarind chutney on everything. Now that my girlfriend lives in Jackson Heights, I've kind of become a regular. read more
Tried various items on the menu with a large group. My daughter and I especially enjoyed the Chole Bhature, Chole Poori, Samosa, plus the Dosas. We really enjoyed their various sauces but our only complaint is that we wish some dishes were more spicy and we wanted to taste curry sauces that was missing. read more

Friend's recommendation for Dosa. Small but spacious enough with comfortable seatings. 3pm snack. Walk in and sat ourselves. One guy waiting the whole restaurant. Water served and took our order. Pondicherry dosa- crepe was good but not crispy. Potato filling was flavorful but very heavy in starch from the potato. Plain rava- crispy but way too greasy. It came with two dripping sauce which didnt do much difference in taking off the grease. Mango lassi- good and not too sweet but more on the thick side. We enjoyed it. Falooda- so good. Vermicelli noodles, basil seeds, eith rose milk syrup and falooda ice cream. Rose milk so aromatic. I recommend this but my husband didnt like it. Go figure. Overall we only enjoyed their drinks for the most part. For dosa, if u a heavy potatoes fan, this is the place for u but I'm not as I only had one piece and was enough. Service was not any better. We had to ask for the dripping sauces and three times for our coffee. Will not be returning. Snack caused more than our lunch. read more

Came here for lunch with one of my girlfriends today and only have good things to say!!! I've been coming here for years and never had a bad experience. AJ was or waiter and he was great - offered many recommendations and was super attentive. Love this place, def one of my favs in Queens! Today was my first time getting dessert, we got a chocolate dosa and an order of rice pudding. Both were delicious!!! Not too sweet but super tasty. 5/5! read more
