I've only done takeout here but right off the bat the customer service was great. The young gentleman who took my order saw I was double parked outside and told me not to worry he's going to bring the food outside for me which was a very nice gesture. I ordered chicken saag and my wife got chicken tikka masala with cheese and garlic naan each. The chicken saag was good but it seemed like there wasn't much chicken in there could have been a bit more but overall it was very good. My wife's chicken tikka masala was different than what it world normally taste. The sauce was actually very sweet which we didn't really like. The garlic naan on the other hand was absolutely amazing, probably the best tasting naan I've ever hard. I would go back here just for the naan itself. The cheese naan was also very good and was stuffed with cheese. I'm definitely going to give this place another try and ordering the garlic naan is an absolute must! The place is also very spacious so plenty of seating!

Ordered delivery from this place on a whim! We ordered chili fried momo and coconut chicken (comes with rice and rice pudding). They were both delicious. The chili friend momo was so so so so flavorful and yum. I think of all these "dumpling" things I've tried, this might have been the best one yet. Chicken coconut was again, very flavorful and delicious. I first wanted some more sweetness OR salt to understand the dish better but then the more I ate it, the umami was just so addicting that I kept saying " this is my last bite " like 50 times. This dish made me know that this place makes good food, if that makes sense. Def would order again and would love to visit one day!

Goat curry which came with rice. Plenty of goat chunks throughout and in the bottom.

I came here with my friend for late lunch and we had a great time! We had the samosa chaat to share and I had goat curry. The samosa chaat was delicious. It had a sour tamarind flavor with a generous amount of chickpeas. The samosa itself was well-seasoned and had a crisp yet chewy crust. The goat curry was awesome. Very flavorful. The goat was soft and tender -- just as goat should be. It was a very generous serving too with enough for leftovers. We spent a little more than $50 for an appetizer, two entrees, with tax and tip included, so it was a great deal! The ambiance was cozy and clean. There was a beautiful mural of the Himalayas on one of the walls. Our waitress was also very nice and helpful. It's truly a great neighborhood restaurant. I would definitely come back here again!

    Chilli tofu

Really good food! Ordered the chilli tofu, chilli chicken (ImdoChinese box) and Thali, and all of it was really amazing. The naan was perfectly fluffy and delicious.

I ordered the nasi bungkus with fried chicken. This dish comes wrapped in a banana leaf and then wax paper and it's exciting to be able to unwrap it when it arrives at the table. It has a complex heat, tempered with bitterness but is not overly spicy. The fried chicken was incredibly tender- when I attempted to separate the drumstick from the thigh, the bones just pulled right out. The meat is also deeply seasoned throughout. A really fantastic piece of fried chicken. There is ample sauce to season the soft, fluffy rice and the green beans provided a welcome vegetal bite. I loved the hidden hard boiled egg buried in there. I also got a very interesting dessert, Ice doger. It has a base of pink shaved ice and coconut milk and is topped with avocado, black glutenous rice, basil seeds, coconut and cubed white bread. The flavor combination was unique and fascinating. The creamyness of the avocado lends itself perfectly to a dessert, and the grassy vegetal after taste adds complexity. The herbal, sour notes from the basil seeds and the richness of the coconut complement the sweet base, seasoned with condensed milk and the cubes of white bread soak up all the liquid as the ice melts. I loved this dessert. My food took quite a long time to come, but the service was very friendly and helpful and my water was refilled often. The restaurant seemed to be filled with regulars who knew each other and the environment felt warm and homey. Very pleased with my experience and already planning my next trip.

We ordered fried shrimp chips, grilled Pompano fish, meatballs with swallowed meat, crispy chicken skin, and fried savory fishcake combo. My friend said Indonesian shrimp chips were not the same as Chinese shrimp chips. These were bigger and denser than the smaller more delicate ones I was use to. Plus the flavor is stronger. The fish was smoky, crispy on the outside moist and flaky on the inside. The meatballs had that unique texture of bouncy and chewy. It had good flavor. There were two different types of noodles in the soup that the meatballs came in. We were also surprised the fried fishcakes also came in a noodle soup. Apparently, the combo comes with noodles in soup even though that's not what the picture looked like. The crispy chicken lived up to its name; it was very crispy but not a whole lot of flavor. Still the crunchy texture made it addictive. If you like authenticate Indonesian flavors you will definitely be happy here.

Look out Katz's! I was looking for it up on the menu board, but all I saw was pastrami baos & pastrami rice box. I asked if it was still available and my man hooked me up by popping 2 thick slices of whole grain bread into the toaster and started to hand carve a big hunk of pastrami. I thought I was getting about half of what he pulled out, but he proceeded to pile it all on the bread after squirting on a slew of grainy deli mustard. He apologized for running out of pickles, but all I could think was "Take my money and gimme my sammich!" Even as I cradled the closed plastic container, the smell of hot pastrami permeated my whole bus ride home and I couldn't wait to dig into that salty, peppery crusted, fall apart tender meat sandwich. I'm sure the other people on the bus were jealous. Next time I might even try out some of the other rice & noodle dishes, but that smoky pastrami smell still lingers on in my mind.

Instead, I was served a cheeseburger with french fries, which was completely different from what I ordered. When I brought this to the staff's attention, the response was dismissive and argumentative, rather than focused on resolving the issue. Rather than escalate the situation, I chose to leave. Although I had already paid, I did not feel comfortable staying or continuing the conversation. This was especially disappointing because I have been a loyal customer for years, long before the new ownership. I used to visit frequently, and even now, I go out of my way, often 40 minutes, to come here when I am in Queens dropping off my kids. As someone who does not eat cheeseburgers, receiving that order was both frustrating and avoidable with basic attention to detail. I truly hope the new management takes steps to improve both service and communication moving forward. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will not be returning. This is coming from a person that has been coming to this place for years. It's sad.

Still a good deal, but no longer the best bang for your buck any more. Probably why I don't visit as often nowadays. With that said, the quality is similar. Food is served on steamed trays, so you pick your choices over rice. Most of the flavors are still quite amazing, though some food lose their crispiness or a bit lukewarm sitting there. Regardless, always a good. On the negative side, the lady server is literally counting how many little shrimps are in my dish from one of my choices. It felt very odd when she took a shrimp off my plate and put it back into the tray. I asked if I could get a couple more calamari pieces and she said that she would have to remove more shrimp to do so. This was not how they use to operate, but I guess times are tough. On the other hand, I was given a lot more of the string beans with chicken liver, which makes sense since it's a cheaper protein. Btw, the fish is yummy, but you only get about 3-4 pieces. Therefore, I think you should order that item separately and not on rice if you want a decent portion. Bottom line, Khao Kang is no longer where I will go for a delicious cheap meal on regular basis. However, it is still a wonderful quick sit down or grab-n-go spot for some of the most authentic tasting Thai food in NYC for a reasonable price.
