I love this places food truck but unfortunately the restaurant was disappointing. They had one noticeably fantastic waitress who was working her butt off with a smile and even came to check on our table which wasn't hers. We had a server named Casey who said she usually worked in the kitchen and was trying to help out. The restaurant didn't seem overly crowded. There were 5 tables in use inside and quite a few outside. On arrival Casey was at the register figuring out a ticket. She didn't acknowledge us standing there and yes she did see us. The fantastic waitress who I did not get a name on, graciously acknowledged us from across the restaurant with "we will be with you in a moment." After a small wait we were shown to a table. I asked nicely if we could have a booth instead and they kindly obliged. We were handed menus and then told someone would be back. Casey was the one who arrived with apologies about how busy it was and asked what we wanted to drink. We asked what was on tap and she said she didn't know. I said just give us something from Farmstrong. Our daughter asked if they had lemonade. She replied she thought so but wasn't sure. I pointed out that lemonade wasn't on the menu to her and my daughter. My daughter order a soda. We received our drinks and then Casey ran off again without getting our order. After about 10 minutes she was back to get our order. No peanuts were ever given to us. When our order arrived our sides were wrong. I ordered Mac and cheese and veggies. I received potato salad and veggies. My boyfriend ordered potato salad and Mac and cheese and received Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. We also didn't have utensils. After flagging down another waitress we received utensils and my Mac and cheese. I don't recommend getting the veggies. They were over cooked and dry. I got the double barrel sandwich which was delicious. I love the bbq meat here but will stick to getting it at the food truck and having itHaving terrible service ruins going out to dinner. If I do come back I will keep my eye out for the fabulous waitress who looked in on us and request her as my waitress. Update during COVID: Double Barrel delivers once a week up to Concrete. It is nice to have a restaurant who is willing to drive a long way to deliver. I came down and ate at the restaurant again because they have a dog friendly patio which is so hard to find. The waitress was great. The peanut issue has been resolved by having a barrel of peanuts that you can scoop yourself. Drove by on our way to the N cascade, and got caught with the Texan looking BBQ place. We were a greeted nicely up front. Got our menus and seated inside. They have clear sign for 6 ft apart table and the place is pretty airy so we felt good. We order a large brisket with fried okra and mashed potatoes and another large ribs with mash and beans. I would highly recommend the brisket as it was surprisingly good! I have high standard for BBQ so this is already way better than Dickeys or chains like that. I would have liked it even more with less sauce. The ribs are decent as well. My boys loved the okra, and mashed. The beans are just ok tho, you can skip that. Had several people suggest this place for breakfast, decided to try it out. Wow!! They didn't disappoint, the food was amazing. I ordered the Reba's Iron Skillet with brisket. Huge portions, and the flavor profile was on point!! My wife ordered a breakfast burrito with sausage and a 1/2 order of biscuit and gravy, both were amazing as well. The service is just like why? Why even bother having servers if you have to get your own coffee and put your dishes away and order up front while they're all hanging out just chatting. The best BBQ I've had while traveling around the U.S. The chicken quarter I had was so moist and flavorful that it didn't even need sauce. And the sauces: homemade just right. I was terribly disappointed in our breakfast selections. Backstory: we've been DBBLBBQ customers since Jim had his shop in Burlington across from BEHS. The breakfast burritos were sublime! We were hoping the newly introduced breakfast menu would be at par. No such luck. We ordered a brisket breakfast burrito and an order of brisket hash. The "potatoes" were the deal breaker. Chopped up overcooked French fries KILLED both dishes and could have been easily solved by using actual potatoes. Not to mention, the staff entirely missed putting the cheese on my burrito and the biscuit in my wife's hash. The one bright spot? Front of the house staff were cheerful and attentive, though they also missed the lack of biscuit in my wife's order. Suggestion: don't use crappy French fries for your hash and burritos. Spend the time and money on real potatoes. I KNOW they can do a better breakfast with a few adjustments. Edit: In response to the Double Barrel manager's comment, I'd like to clarify my review. This was a take out order that was ready to go when I arrived. I didn't query the staff, nor did I inspect the contents until I arrived home. I felt it would be insulting them at the time if I had unwrapped and deconstructed my burrito in front of them. The hash? Yes, I could have removed it from the bag and opened the container. Then I would have noticed there was no biscuit and the potatoes were burnt up and could have requested to have them remake it. I was under a time constraint and to be honest, I didn't have the time to wait for them to remake it had I inspected everything anyway. So, the takeaway from this for me, is to personally inspect all my take out food prior to leaving the restaurant, and allow myself enough time to remake it should items be unacceptable. I *will* try their breakfast again as I do understand growing pains. Not to mention I *loved* the burritos that Lance made when the restaurant was in Burlington. 4.5 star experience here definitely. Finally, after driving by so many times during a period when we didn't need a meal, the timing came together to eat some Q here. The aroma of smoked meat was pleasantly pungent as we arrived. Great atmosphere with everything done so well from the furnishings and the décor on the walls down to the self-serve peanuts with shells tossed to the floor to make you feel like you are eating in a Texas roadhouse. I loved it. All staff we interacted with were very personable and answered any questions easily, including my query as to what type of wood they use. It's apple. Double Barrel has what might be the most extensive menu I've seen at a BBQ joint. Definitely in Washington. They are open for all three meals, opening at 7am. This menu looks fantastic and I was told (in confidence) it was the best breakfast in town. You can see the offerings in print and picture on their website. As for the lunch/dinner menu it includes all the expected protein options and then some. Brisket, Baby back ribs, pulled pork plus smoked turkey and chickens. Served as both sandwiches and dinner platters. A wide selection of breads and sides, most made here, compliment the platters. On top of the Q menu, they also do a variety of appetizers, burgers, a brisket grilled cheese, and salads. Even a white bean chicken chili (next time). We've learned from previous BBQ meals it's best for us to share a two or three meat meal to enjoy as much as comfortably possible. So today it was the 3-meat platter with two sides and a cheddar biscuit. Meats were brisket, ribs, and smoked turkey. Sides of potato salad and coleslaw. Somewhat surprisingly for this area I was asked if I wanted fatty or lean. Fatty all the way for us Soon we received a platter of sensational looking Q. Fantastic smoke ring on the brisket and ribs. Moist, somewhat thin, slices of turkey. A fluffy corner biscuit and clearly house made slaw and pot salad. Brisket was sliced thicker than expected and well barked with their distinct rub, heavy today on the black pepper. I put pepper on everything almost and this was just at the point of almost too much. The meat was moist and flavorful even without any of the four choices for sauce-original (a little sweet), sweet (molasses notes), hot (can't do it), and a fourth I neglected to note. The original, in our opinion, went best with all the meats. Especially the wonderful turkey. The only small meat misstep in my opinion on our visit was the just too much black pepper burn on the ribs. When I bit below the bark the meat was so flavorful but I feel like someone got carried away with the rub here. Edible but a bit disappointing. Hoping for lighter hand next visit. Sides were true standouts without question for us. The slaw mixed the cabbage with a dressing that was wonderfully sweet (pineapple or apple juice maybe) and a nice amount of celery seed. Fantastic. And I will say unequivocally that throughout my BBQ dining nationwide this potato salad was top three ever. Perfect red potatoes, the right amount of mayo/mustard, hard-boiled egg boosting it up at least a couple of notches. It's very rare that I will buy more of a side to take home but I jumped on 16 ounces of this to enjoy when I next fire up the grill. It was that good. Desserts advertised include pecan pie, Texas sheet cake, and Peach Cobbler but we had no room for that today. I'm not much for leaving reviews but it's time. I've been here a few times over the years and every time I've left less than thrilled. Last night I had an itch for ribs, now I smoke some pretty yummy ribs myself, but you have to start early to have them for dinner. So Ok, off to the Double Barrel I go. I got the Small plate with 2 sides and Texas toast. I really wanted to get the peach cobbler for dessert. But what defines small? I thought maybe half a rack of ribs would be fine for the small. I recommend putting some sort of description on your menu of what is large or small. So imagine my surprise when my plate was delivered to see I had 4 very small ribs. They were the small end of the rack. If they were from the larger end it would have been better, but not the small. Very sad excuse for a serving. The servings of potatoes was equally disappointing, maybe 3/4 of a cup each with white gravy. But the Texas toast was a single slice of white bread. Nothing about it was Texas in any way. The ribs just ok tasting like the potatoes but neither were hot. The final disappointment was that peach cobbler. And I suppose I should be happy that I didn't get any. Since you order at the counter and it only takes one person at a time you might have to wait quite awhile to get your order in. I waited until I had finished my meal to place the dessert order in case I was full, but the line to order was maybe half a dozen deep with the other folks taking much too long to place their orders and pay. Got there at about 10AM (breakfast stops serving @ 11AM), and ordered a Country Style Benedict and 3 Biscuits and Gravy meals. 20 minutes after taking our order and charging us for all the meals, they disclose they didn't have biscuits and offer the "two-egg plates" instead (pictured here as they were, frankly, pitiful). No refund, no "sorry". Sadly, I must add that the fries were bland and undercooked. We spent $80 on food that we were so disappointed with in the end. No indication at all where to go to pick up a phone order so I shifted from the register to a line with people who hadn't ordered yet and back, and every time I tried to make eye contact to ask where I should pick it up, I was either ignored or assured that "everything is just fine, hon." Since the CDC said vaccinated people don't need to wear masks anymore, some places are filled with unmasked customers, but who are we kidding? Everyone who thought masks and vaccines were stupid to begin with are happily mixing it up with still-vulnerable populations in places like this, and the ownership is clearly 100% fine with it. Went to the Fathers Day Buffet to be able to try more of their menu. Staff was friendly bit seemed a little overwhelmed at the time, we waited for a while to get our whole drink order, only two drinks. They do have a good selection to choose from, brisket, chicken, pork ribs and pulled pork as well as the expected sides for a BBQ place. The chicken and pork ribs were really good both were tender and moist. The chicken had a light sweet flavor and not overly smoked. The brisket and pulled pork both seemed dry and chewy/tough neither were able to be pulled apart easily, they missed the mark on the low and slow part. The sides were all good with the mac/cheese and potato salad being the best tasting for me. They also had a jalapeño cornbread muffin that was really good tasting. The smoked prime rib was pretty good, definite smoke flavor and reasonably tender. Smoked chicken was the best I've ever been served in a restaurant. Very moist/juicy and great flavor. Spare ribs were excellent. Not fall off the bone (which is a good thing), nice rub and not soaked in sauce. Tender, great smoky flavor. I'd definitely order this again. Brisket is hit or miss. I've had it twice. First time was great - tender, moist great smoke flavor. Second time, not so much - dry and sort of chewy. I'm surprised an authentic BBQ joint doesn't offer a choice between moist and lean brisket. Server had no clue when I asked. Sides were really good - jalapeño cornbread , baked beans, Texas toast and the best potato salad I've had in a long time. The baked potato was ok as was the tossed green salad. In my previous review, I was carrying a lot of resentment towards things that had nothing to do with this establishment. I was honest, I did not make anything up about the experience. THAT BEING SAID, we had lunch yesterday near 3pm. I can't speak directly for the others I sat with, but I can say my food was PERFECT. My wife loved her meal, as well. I was at this Double Barrel BBQ in Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284 The food was Ok , but the ribs we a little tough. I have had better BBQ Ribs at other places and the ribs were more tender, falling off the bone . They came with sause on them, they should have served the ribs with out sause, there is a varity of there own sauses at the table. The ribs were trimed differently, so the i found bone shards at the top of the rib. The side were good, but the portions were smaller then I expected I chose baked beans, and potato salad. the chese Jalapeño chese cornbread muffin was good. I was expecting a refill on my soda , but was never offered or asked if I wanted a refill. Over all service was ok. Yup yup YUP. Stopped here after a lil N. Cascades hike. Perfect place to replenish-had the smoked turkey small plate and let me tell you-still way more than I could eat. We got hush puppies on the side- so crispy on the outside and perfectly fluffy and flavorful on the inside. Very friendly service-helpful and genuinely nice folks. Cared about our impression of the food -which was fantastic. Thanked the kitchen staff on our way out.
