Went to the Fathers Day Buffet to be able to try more of their menu. Staff was friendly bit seemed a little overwhelmed at the time, we waited for a while to get our whole drink order, only two drinks. They do have a good selection to choose from, brisket, chicken, pork ribs and pulled pork as well as the expected sides for a BBQ place. The chicken and pork ribs were really good both were tender and moist. The chicken had a light sweet flavor and not overly smoked. The brisket and pulled pork both seemed dry and chewy/tough neither were able to be pulled apart easily, they missed the mark on the low and slow part. The sides were all good with the mac/cheese and potato salad being the best tasting for me. They also had a jalapeño cornbread muffin that was really good tasting. For dessert they had pecan pie and apple cobbler, they were both great tasting. The apple cobbler was really gooey and almost, almost to sweet. read more

I've been here a three times since new owners took over and have to say it's a BIG improvement. So, here's the rundown on the food I've eaten. The smoked prime rib was pretty good, definite smoke flavor and reasonably tender. Smoked chicken was the best I've ever been served in a restaurant. Very moist/juicy and great flavor. Spare ribs were excellent. Not fall off the bone (which is a good thing), nice rub and not soaked in sauce. Tender, great smoky flavor. I'd definitely order this again. Brisket is hit or miss. I've had it twice. First time was great - tender, moist great smoke flavor. Second time, not so much - dry and sort of chewy. I'm surprised an authentic BBQ joint doesn't offer a choice between moist and lean brisket. Server had no clue when I asked. Sides were really good - jalapeño cornbread , baked beans, Texas toast and the best potato salad I've had in a long time. The baked potato was ok as was the tossed green salad. I was at this Double Barrel BBQ in Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284 The food was Ok , but the ribs we a little tough. I have had better BBQ Ribs at other places and the ribs were more tender, falling off the bone . They came with sause on them, they should have served the ribs with out sause, there is a varity of there own sauses at the table. The ribs were trimed differently, so the i found bone shards at the top of the rib. The side were good, but the portions were smaller then I expected I chose baked beans, and potato salad. the chese Jalapeño chese cornbread muffin was good. I was expecting a refill on my soda , but was never offered or asked if I wanted a refill. Over all service was ok. For all the bad out in the world, there is also a lot of good. We came back despite our past experience, the owner has a picture of my deceased dog that means the world to me, on their wall. In my previous review, I was carrying a lot of resentment towards things that had nothing to do with this establishment. I was honest, I did not make anything up about the experience. THAT BEING SAID, we had lunch yesterday near 3pm. I can't speak directly for the others I sat with, but I can say my food was PERFECT. My wife loved her meal, as well. I feel obligated to make sure that others know for every bad experience there can be a much better one. I'm proud of these folks and we look forward to eating here again. read more

I will say the few times I have been in I have always been received warmly and have had good service. I'm a type 1 diabetic so during COVID I'm not trying to sit anywhere in public. I usually go three combo plate and have tried all the meats a couple times, so I feel confident in saying this isn't great BBQ. You don't really taste smoke much, not much of a smoke ring on anything, and a lot of pieces are generally over-seasoned. That being said it's still meat cooked slow and low so it's not bad, but calling it southern pit bbq seems like a stretch. They only offer baby back ribs, no spare ribs, which is a red flag. The fried Okra is always done right though. All I know is that guy Sam Middlebrook needs to expand his palate because I know for a fact there is a ton of better BBQ in Texas. (In my previous job I traveled all over America and got eat in the Carolinas, TN, TX, OK and others. If you are in a crunch and need some BBQ made for you this is the best I have had here in the PNW. It does FEEL like a solid BBQ joint when you go in there and eat. I think the lack of competition up here means there isn't much reason to change anything though. read more

Yup yup YUP. Stopped here after a lil N. Cascades hike. Perfect place to replenish-had the smoked turkey small plate and let me tell you-still way more than I could eat. We got hush puppies on the side- so crispy on the outside and perfectly fluffy and flavorful on the inside. Very friendly service-helpful and genuinely nice folks. Cared about our impression of the food -which was fantastic. Thanked the kitchen staff on our way out. I should start out by saying that I am a vegetarian. The portobello mushroom burger is ok. My favorite food here was the fried zucchini though. It's the best fried zucchini I have ever had. My meat eating boyfriend and friends all like their food a lot. Their decor is also really cool. My favorite thing about this place though is honestly their political stance. This place took a stand and stood up for their rights and the rights of their customers and to me, that's a great reason to continue to support them. This place is doing Covid right! Everyone had their masks on properly,all the tables were spaced at least two booths apart, No groups of five or larger were sat together And they serve the meals with plastic cutlery that was in a secured wrapper to lessen the chances of transferring Covid through silverware. This was the first time I have dined out since March 2020 and it was very comforting and peaceful having a sense of normalcy for a few moments. The establishment is well decorated And clean the bar is beautiful and the staff was pleasant and helpful. I ordered a 9 ounce brisket dinner platter with a side of mac & cheese and fried okra and it came with a cheddar biscuit. The brisket was very tender and the barbecue sauce is slightly sweetened & has a very mild kick to it. The mac & cheese was nearly perfect but it was very heavily peppered to the point it over powered the Mac&cheese flavor. It would have been perfect if it had not been so much pepper in there, I only had two bites of that. The fried okra by itself was to die for & the jalapeño-ranch dressing they serve on the side for dipping is the icing on the cake! The cheddar biscuit was good but could have been fluffier, it's quite a dense biscuit. The flavor was good, I did enjoy it, I am definitely not complaining just giving constructive feedback. I would definitely recommend Double Barrel BBQ and I would definitely return and try other dishes. I gave five stars because even though the mac & cheese tasted like someone put a half of cup of pepper in the batch, everything else was wonderful and they deserve a five star review. read more

It Was great to finally get in after waiting for the remodel of the building. They definitely got the right idea for the interior. My wife liked the beef brisket, cole slaw, and beans. My pulled pork sanwhich was a generous portion. The baked beans were just the right amount of flavor without being hot. The potato salad was traditional american, not super sweet or overly mustard. Yes, they have real brewed sweet tea. They were appropriately staffed for the evening crowd (almost a full house). Country music playing, but not blaring (heavy on the Lynyrd Skynrd as expected). Family friendly, casual atmosphere. Tins of peanuts, shells on the floor and friendly smiling staff. I haven't eaten at Double Barrel in years since they were back in Burlington. They were decent enough back in the day. I drove past their Sedro location around lunch time and thought I would give them a try. I ordered the brisket and rib combo with 2 sides and a soda. $25 total. Pretty pricey so I was expecting something awesome. What I got was really dry brisket and ribs with hardened mac and cheese and a side of perfect fries. Unfortunately the fries were the best part of the meal. Picture Dick's fries, only thicker cut. Super good fries for sure! The brisket was so dry, if you held it in your hand horizontally, it didn't even bend or flop down. The ribs were just as dry, if not more dry tasting because the dry rub was so thickly applied then with the added dryness of the meat, I had to drink a lot to wash it down.. The mac and cheese was almost like it was left out for a while in the open air, then reheated and served up. Mind you, I ate it about 10 minutes after leaving the store, so it's not like I left it on my counter or in my fridge for 3 days until I tried it. For that kind of money, I was pretty disappointed. I think this should be said!! I am...well WAS.....a regular at Double Barrel. Me, my wife and son came in for some breakfast. The food was okay, but what I witnessed completely killed my experience. My server was amazing but whoever her direct supervisor is (blond haired girl) was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. From what I gathered my server had informed us that the dessert we had ordered would have about a 20 minute wait time for preparation. During this wait time me and my wife can literally hear the supervisor being EXTREMELY disrespectful to our server and apparently pushing her to serve us an UNFRESH dessert. Our server made us aware and requested that a fresh dessert be made which, from what we heard, caused an issue. This ended with the server being sent home. I have been in the restaurant industry for 30 YEARS. The supervisor at this location I have seen has been very disrespectful to employees a few times now just with the way she interacts with them. If it was me, I would have FIRED HER on the spot. That is no way to speak to an employee and the fact that the restaurant was willing to serve us non-fresh food is abysmal. While the food was 4/5 stars the service was 1/10 Stars! We are not from the are and went on a hike near by and decided to stop by on the way home. Keep in mind it was 15 to close and nobody else was there, we ordered 3 things. We finally got our food, I was missing my okra. I asked a friend to mention it because I was fed up with her attitude and just wanted my food, and she just got frustrated and said yea yea I know it's cooking. Also forgot our drinks that are supposed to be included, at that point we had already left and called back... she said "I can't remember to give every single person their drinks!".... isn't that a part of your job? I ordered a Carolina Pulled Chicken sandwich and a small Caesar salad. Decent BBQ for the PNW, which - to this admittedly pickier Southerner - is harder to find. The PNW barbecue I've tried up here is too sweet. Seems like a regional bias. Mostly acceptably cooked, not smoky enough, and all on the sweet side, needing more heat and salt and sour balance. DB was on the sweeter side a bit but not as much as most, and I found their optional hotter sauce (on their pickles table) to be a helpful improvement on the basic flavors. They tried to address the crowding at the entrance while waiting to order, which is limited by space. One of the owners sought input regarding what we thought about the beer we ordered. She seemed genuinely interested, and encouraged us to bring suggestions or concerns to them so they could address anything on the spot. Can I just say drool... every thing we tried (and we tried a lot) was delicious. We are from Texas and moved up here about a year ago and this place just hit all of our Texas BBQ cravings. We live about an hour away, but will be back regularly. We tried the lean brisket (so flavorful, nice bark, not fatty at all but still juicy as can be), pulled pork (some of the best I've had), smoked turkey (so tasty). All the sides we tried were amazing! My husband ordered the nacho fries and I was not expecting anything special but once I tried them I could not stop going back for more. The staff was so friendly! Not worth the effort. Food is only part of the experience when dining out. Good service and respect for patrons is another deciding factor in returning to a business. Based on recent experiences at the Double Barrel - we will not be going back. With just ok BBQ, poor service and not a mask is sight (though mandated), it not worth it. If the owners do not care about keeping customers returning, let's see how much longer they stay in business. Had to come to Sedro-Wooley for an appointment so had a chance to stop here for lunch. I always have the same item @ BBQ so I can compare. Had the pulled pork with side of baked beans. Probably the most moist & tender meat I've ever had. The sauce & bun were excellent. Texas style is different from Southern BBQ where the meat is flavored with the sauce. The baked beans? Hell no! Anyone who has ever made baked beans or had it @ a picnic or gathering will tell you....these are NOT BAKED beans. Straight out of a can & flavored with spices. Hence the 4 not 5 star. read more
